Where do I use flash in the order of things?

So I am making an animated DVD menu. I want to be able to
link the words in photoshop with a "#" in front of the name so they
show up automatically in Encore. Do I do this all in Flash? Or do I
do something in Photoshop first? Also should I use actionscript 1,
2 or 3? Not really sure of the differences.

Hi, Parthabe.
Yes, I've seen this list. I suposse which one is my problem (because in the response, they didn't give me the ID), but I can't see more than the description of the problem, without solution . What do I have to do with this list? I feel so clumsy
I use LabView 8.5.
I think this is the list, or not?

Thanks again, Parthabe.

  • Can Someone Explain the order of things Using Swingworker?

    Hi:
    Can someone explain very clearly the order of things using Swingworker? Please do not refer the SUN tutorials. I am totally dead in the water with a very large application and the order of things is not sensible. Also, if the worker thread is too long, the GUI gets updated, but my progress bar (killed right after in the finished method) remains running in some instances only.
    Can someone explain any debugging methods for thread work?
    I am a veteran programmer of 19 years and this one's got me. The event dispatch thread returns immediate, the GUI responds well, but the progress bar setVisible(false); ... just after in the finished() method (on Event Dispatch thread) does not go away, continues running, only on very long (large query) work. I'm truly stumped. I have successful applications of the Swingworker use, the progress bar, and everything works fine. Not this one.
    Debugging threads is what I need. Or some tool that visually shows threads as the program runs.
    Thanks for any help,
    PiratePete

    Thanks. I guess I should count my blessings when using free stuff. But I have been impressed with what the J2SDK has to offer. I have been writing a complicated application that I am going to market and most of my problems have been "design" in nature.
    Thanks again,

  • Advice on using Flash in the future for Android VS. Air VS. Web Development

    First, I am not trolling and I see that other similar questions have been asked recently, though I am looking for specific info to meet the needs of our program (that is why I am posting this now).
    We've been teaching Flash at a community college for many years. After Adobe stopped development of the Flash Player for browsers, I'm left wondering what the future of Flash in the web will be? Data shows that a majority of web browsing will take place from mobile devices over the next several years, and if you are not going to be able to view Flash web content in a browser from a mobile device, I am concerned about whether it makes sense to continue teaching Flash to students for web design/development. I know Flash can also be used for developing applications, Air, etc., and we do some of that currently, I'm just wondering how Adobe can expect developers to commit to the platform for web development without supporting mobile web browsers. Am I missing something? Do developers see this differently? I appreciate any insight from Flash developers or Adobe employees. FYI - I just did a similar analysis with our video editing program and asked similar questions in an Apple Final Cut Pro forum and we are moving away from Apple's Final Cut Pro after they changed direction with their latest release and we are now going to start teaching Adobe Premiere. Should we focus teaching Flash for Android and Air development and back off from using it for web development?
    Thanks in advance.

    I'd like an answer for this one too.  Thank you, "Media Kat" for posting the question.  I am a prototyper with a background in art and design, who has worked exclusively with Flash for nearly 13 years.  I'm currently working with AIR for Android, but my superiors and associates think AIR is going to die (along with the rest of Flash) and don't understand that simply "switching to HTML5" is not a very palatable answer.  It would be helpful to hear from someone "in the know" about the future of Flash.
    Thanks.
    P.S.  If someone from Adobe answers this, please don't BS me like they did at the last forum I attended at Adobe headquarters in San Jose.  We asked specifically if Flash and/oir Flex were dying and were assured that they had a long future... Three weeks before the announcement to kill it!  :-(

  • How can you make photobook using photos in the order you have them titled

    I spent a lot of time renaming photos ("a1" through "z9") to get them in chrono order when viewing/sorting them by title.  Yet, when I go in to create a photobook it doesn't put them in this new order by title, but rather uses the old naming system which puts them out of order.  Anyone have any ideas how to get photobook to look at the photos by "new" renamed title?

    I put them in chrono order after all all were imported into iPhoto by naming them appropriately.
    No, that puts them in alphabetifcal order, not chronological order.
    What other post?
    I started to repy to this post earlier and somehow aborted the post instead of adding it.
    If you use the Batch Change ➙ Date option with 1 minuted between photos on the photos as they are sorted by title they will go into the book in that order.

  • Using ROWID in the ORDER BY clause

    Hi,
    I can consider myself as a PL/SQL beginner. I need to query some existing tables created for audit scope.
    These tables have more duplicate rows respect to the same audit date: the precision is at "hour and minute and second" level.
    But I need to understand which is the more recent row for the same audit date. So I think to use in the SELECT statement
    the clause ORDER BY in this manner:
    SELECT ... FROM Audit_Table ORDER BY Audit_Date desc, ROWID desc.
    I'd like to use this ORDER BY also for the ROW_NUMBER function.
    Any suggests to me about this topic? Many thanks

    I don't need to provide an example, I can do better by pointing you to the documentation:
    http://docs.oracle.com/database/121/SQLRF/pseudocolumns008.htm#SQLRF00254
    "If you delete a row, then Oracle may reassign its rowid to a new row inserted later" - for example
    I can point you to asktom: https://asktom.oracle.com/pls/asktom/f?p=100:11:0::::P11_QUESTION_ID:912210644860
    "ROWIDs are NOT sortable" - for example
    Your example just happened to work, but you are using the rowid semantically incorrect.

    I am having a recurring proble with my screen suddenly enalrging to the point where it is unusable. The power button is also not working.  When I try to shut off the phone to restart it, I cannot swipe across the top to power off vbecause the screen is so big and unresponsive.  Can someone help me with this problem?

    Double tap the screen with three fingers to switch off zoom, then go to setting and disable it to make sure you don't switch it on again by accident.

  • Anyone got any experience using Flash with the Parse REST API?

    Just wondered if anyones used the Parse.com REST API AS3 library ? if so any tips or advice on what it's good or not good for?

    It is good to hear that is getting Apple feedback from other sides regarding that network problem. I always thought that this just matters for bigger studios with multiple rooms and network installations and therefore not that a high priority for Apple. It never occurred to me that in a networked school environment that is a big issue and last time I checked Apple pretended to to care about the educational market.
    If you really need the network setup to work with Logic and can't wait for Apple to fix it, try to mount the network volumes via the smb protocol instead of the afp protocol. I used it for a while under Logic 7 and it worked, haven't tried it under L8. However keep in mind that are some drawbacks:
    Besides minor user interface limitations (color, icons, etc), the main problem is some boneheaded setup in Logic. Get that:
    Logic saves the path to any related media file, which is ok, but it saves also the network protocol it uses! If you logged on to a network volume over smb and use an audio file, Logic will save the complete path, something like "smb://MediaVolume/audio/MyGroove.aif". Netx time you mount the MediaVolume drive via afp and open your Logic Project, it won't find that file, or automount that volume again as an smb volume. So now you have the same network volume mounted twice, via afp and smb.
    Now you can see why I backed away from that solution.

  • The order of things

              String host;
              System.out.println("Beginning main process");
              if (args.length > 0) host =(args[0]);
              else
                   host = "localhost";
                   System.out.println("No host set, setting host to localhost");
              int port;
              if (args.length > 1) port = Integer.parseInt(args[1]);
              else
                   port = 7337;
                   System.out.println("No port set, setting port to 7337");
              int timeout = 5000;
              System.out.println("Setting timeout to 5 seconds");
              Socket s = WireThread.openSocket(host, port, timeout);
              if (s == null)
                   System.out.println("The socket could not be opened.");
              else
                   System.out.println(s);
    class WireThread implements Runnable
         public static Socket openSocket(String aHost, int aPort,
         int timeout)
         WireThread wirethread = new WireThread(aHost, aPort);
         Thread t = new Thread(wirethread);
         System.out.println("Starting client thread");
         t.start();
         try
         System.out.println("Join method");
         t.join(timeout);
         catch (InterruptedException exception)
              System.out.println("Interrupted Exception");
         return wirethread.getSocket();
         public WireThread(String aHost, int aPort)
         System.out.println("Setting WireThread variables");
         socket = null;
         host = aHost;
         port = aPort;
         public void run()
         System.out.println("Setting client socket");
         try
         socket = new Socket(host, port);
         catch (IOException exception)
              System.out.println("I/0 Exception");
         public Socket getSocket()
         System.out.println("Getting remote server socket");
         return socket;
         private String host;
         private int port;
         private Socket socket;
    this is a simple socket connect client I made. As you can see, I added plenty of println calls to see what order things take place. My question is, why does "Join method" show up before "Setting client socket" Doesn't t.start call the run method? Or is t.join doing it?

    This is because you have implemented and started a thread. At the point "t.start();", two process will be running concurrently: statements after t.start() will continue to execute at the same time the run method is being executed. No order can be garuanteed from here on, therefore the "Join method" would show up even before the "Setting client socket".
    If you do require order of execution, do not use a thread, or check for a flag to be set before continuing execution.

  • Conversion of Flash to the next big thing...HTML5??

    I have a lot Flash animations and tutorials with lots of buttons for navigation, text boxes for user input, and a lot of ActionScript 3 code. You can see what I've done at http://preparatorychemistry.com/Bishop_animations.htm and  http://preparatorychemistry.com/Bishop_Tutorials.htm. I have Flash CS6.
    Every once in awhile I search the Net for information about how to convert my animations to something that will work on iPads. I did that again today, and I'm once again confused. I tried Swiffy, but many of my files are too big or have code it doesn't recognize. What are people doing for this? What's the next thing for animations like mine? Is it HTML5 for sure? Will HTML5 do what my animations and tutorials do?
    Thanks for the help

    You can get a Developer Certificate and the Provisioning Profiles by signing up (and paying) to become an Apple Developer at https://developer.apple.com
    You can distribute AIR apps outside of iTunes by using a type of Provisioning Profile called "Ad Hoc" which limits you to distributing up to 100 devices, all of which you must have the serial number of.
    You can add the serial numbers of up to 100 devices in your dev account and then create a Provisioning Profile that only allows installation on those devices. You then send out the app and the profile to users who add the two files to their iTunes app and in turn connect their device to iTunes via USB and install the app.
    Ad Hoc distribution is for testing purposes rather than bypassing the App Store!

    Glad you got it all working! Good job!
    Just a note (for yourself and anyone else using Flash) on the rumor that all Flash files must be in the root folder... simply not true. In my opinion, as with any other type of files on your site, I'd suggest putting them in organized folders.... all the images in one folder... then subfolder for diff categories of images, flv video files in another folder, maybe keep all the .swf files in another, the xml data files in another, etc. Flash asset files can be just as organized as any other type of files.
    From an old article.... for review:
    Pathing issues
    Almost always when it works on the local machine and not the server, it's a pathing problem.
    You can put your Flash related files in whatever folders you want, they do NOT have to be in the root, they do NOT all have to be in the same folder. But if you have a problem and if sticking them all in the root folder works, then you know that the issue was a pathing problem.
    Just remember that paths used in the .swf become relative to the Web page on which the .swf is placed, NOT it’s physical location.  So for example, if your .swf is in the flash/data folder and you use that .swf on a Web page in the root folder, you are in effect, removing that .swf from flash/data and putting it in root. So if the .swf is loading any related files (xml, images, video, etc), the path used inside the .swf to load the .xml file has to be relative to it's new location in root and then back down into flash/data. This is true even though when testing the .swf by itself, it can be inside flash/data and work just fine, since relative to it's location, the path is just fine, they are in the same folder. But if that same path is used when the .swf is placed on a page two folder levels up, the relative path has changed, the old "same folder" path will not work.
    In fact if you are placing the .swf on a web page in a different folder than the .swf is stored in, and that .swf calls external assets, then direct clicking and opening of the .swf in it’s folder should NOT work! That’s because the paths to the external assets should be relative to the Web page and not the physical location of the .swf.
    So just be sure that you use addresses relative to the final Web page locations (not physical file locations) and you can put the Flash related files in what ever folders you want.

  • How do I change the order audiobooks are ordered on my iPod touch?

    I just factory-reset my ipod touch.
    I synced with iTunes where my audiobooks are sorted in the order in which I purchased them. I like to read them in this order, so I don't forget to read one.
    They came across to my iPod in alphabetical order of titles.
    I want to sort them either by date downloaded or by author.
    Thank you!

    Are you saying that they are automatically disappearing after being downloaded? More details would be nice.

    Can someone make iBooks have the Option to view 2 pages in landscape mode so it can use up all the pixel real estate?
    Apple usually does this for OSX and its great when compared to windows where it doesnt use up all the real estate for viewing applications like websites and pdf files but when it comes to iBooks, it feels like there is no apple touch to it and is limited.
    If steve jobs were still alive, i bet there wouldnt be this problem >.>
    Please consider this as a real problem for people out there who would like to see 2 pages in landscape mode with pdf files and not just epub files.

    Don't do it again. and Thanks for the help.

  • How to determine the order of plugin menu entries displayed in Automate menu?

    I found in Plug-in Resource Guide.pdf:
    int16 PIPriorityProperty 0x70727479L
    ('prty')
    Plug-in load order. Also used to control
    the order in which items with the same
    name show up in menus.
    Lower numbers (including negative
    ones) load first. If NULL, the default is
    zero.
    Now I have some plugins, but I saw that under the same Category, the menu items are showed by Lexicographic Order (A:up Z:down), but not by their Priority Properties. Also, each category is arranged by Lexicographic Order of suite name. It means, If I change the plugin names to other language, the order will be different, that's inconvenient for the users. What could I do to get a fixed order? Any idea will be appreciated.

    Yes it is, but I think that is strange if someone would add 2 items with identical names, the user will be confused. Is there some other ways to determine the position of each menu item?
    It seems the photoshop loads plugins suite by suite. If I have 2 suite named "A" and "Z", then all plugins of "A" are loaded by priority, then plugins of "B" be loaded. Can I change the loading order, other than modify the suitename?

  • Rules in Outlook are not processed in the order listed

    I have created a new rule today to filter out all email that is not directly sent to me to a folder called "process later" hanging off "Inbox"
    Problem is, even thou it is the last rule created, and appears to be at the bottom of the list, this seems to be the first rule that is executed.
    In order to fix, I need to go into "process later" folder and run all rules on it.
    Is there a way to fix this, w/o trying to re-create all the rules (I have like 40-50).

    I have same issue where rules are not processed in the order they are written.  All rules are "Client Only".  I sort email based on the information contained in the subject line.  Some should get filed into sub folders, some in the
    parent.  So,  I have a folder called QA and a sub-folder called QA-Project 1.
    #1 rule -- processes subject line looking for QA-Project 1 and puts it in QA-Project 1 folder
    #2 rule -- processes subject line looking only QA and puts it in QA folder
    Problem is when I run both these rules,  the email with subject "QA-Project 1" ends up in the QA folder and not the QA-Project 1 Folder.  So the rules are not processing sequentially.  Please help.
