I was albe to clear it from my web browser on my macbook pro, but cannot clear it on the ipad.

If there is no space or tab, you cannot use a space or a tab in the text box you are typing in (such as the address line).

  • HT204245 Safari issue on iPad.

I Am facing an issue where all urls gets redirect to some malicious website and opens iTunes. It is similar to what is mentioned in security updates in CVE-2014-8840. is someone else facing similar issue? Please help if there is a solution.

Try doing the following and see if it still happens :
    - clear Safari's cache : Settings > Safari > Clear History And Website Data
    - close Safari via the iPad’s taskbar : double-click the home button to open the taskbar and then swipe or drag the Safari app's 'screen' up and off the top of the screen to close it, and click the home button to close the taskbar.
    - soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • I cannot sign into my yahoo mail through safari on my iPad (3rd generation). It doesn't tell me if its an error or something. I just can't sign in, in general. Please help, thanks!

Recently I have not been able to sign into my yahoo email through safari on my iPad. I have a 3rd generation iPad. I have tried clearing history, cookies and data and rebooted my iPad, but none of these worked. After entering yahoo, I go straight to "sign in" it then brings me to the page where I can sign in. After entering my details, I press the "sign in button" but nothing happens. The "sign in"button/icon isn't like what it used to be. By this I mean.. Before when im signing the icon is more of an opaque colour, but recently it will be like something is covering the word "sign in" so the colour is more faint. This is actually probably why I can't sign in. Can anyone help me fix this problem? Much help will be appreciated!

By the way, the safari setting is: private browsing off and accept cookies from visited. Much help is appreciated!

  • Visited links using Safari on my iPad 2 won't stay the "visited" color

Visited links using Safari on my iPad 2 won't stay the "visited" color after I close the tab, put the iPad in sleep mode (or whatever it's called), or when I power off the iPad.
There are certain sites I visit where it comes in very handy to be able to see which links I've already clicked on. The links will stay the "visited" color during the time I'm on the site, but later they all go back to the "unvisited" color.
Is there any way I can fix this on an iPad?

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

  • Where is the cache?

Where is the cache in Safari?   A webpage that I visit regularly does not load this morning.   Safari reports a 403 error at that webpage.   Isitdownnow.com reports that that webpage is up and recommends, inter alia, emptying the cache in Safari.   The Help Center in Safari tells me to pull down the Safari menu to "Empty Safari."   There is no such tool in my Safari menu.
Here is a screen shot of Help Center and the Safari menu:
I am running Safari Version 7.0.1 (9537.73.11).   Where's the cache?

Safari menu - Reset Safari has an option to remove website data.
You can also use Safari - Preferences - Advanced to show the Develop menu. Once that's visible, there's an Empty Caches command there.
Also see Safari - Preferences - Privacy to remove cache/cookies etc for some or all sites.

Please can you give me an advice, how to open cache?

  • Why do I get a blue box with ? In Safari with my iPad?

Why do I get a blue box with ? In Safari with my iPad?  It appears to be where pictures should be.  Very annoying when trying to read through an explanation of something and I get this dang blue box.

It's usually some graphics element that the iPad can't handle. Maybe it's a flash image, maybe it has another protocol that the iPad just can't display. NO way to say for sure without viewing the same page on a computer then checking the file type.

  • Blocking Safari Ads on iPad?

Is there any way to block the annoying, never-ending, screw up my browsing experience, ads when using Safari on the iPad. Every time I go to a sight with pop up ads the page I want disappears and a **** ad shows up or some other stupid ad and when I go back to the original page we jump off again to the **** ad over and over. I can never get to places like Amazon or eBay or any decent website because of the ridiculous ads. On my MacBook I can shut off Javascript in Safari and that will disable the pop ups but where are the settings for the Safari browser on the iPad?
And if Apple doesn't provide a way to block them then WHAT ARE THEY WAITING FOR?
I can't find an "app to block Safari Ads" anywhere! WHY NOT???
So annoying - ruins my browser experience on the iPad.

Thanks Carolyn. I went into Settings/Safari and my Block Pop-ups was on and so was Javascript. I disabled Javascript. Not the best solution because there are times when I need Javascript (if I want to see a picture that is enlarged using Javascript)or if I want to leave a comment (which again, relies on Javascript). What we iPad users need is a serious. What advertisers are doing now is creating the popups in Javascript in an attempt to get around pop-up blockers. When you come across this on the iPad your main screen disappears and a new screen appears with the full page ad. Thus, if I want to leave a comment I hit the comment button and the page fades away and is replaced with an ad page. I have to jump back to the grid and get my comment page back. The minute I try posting in the comment box the page disappears and up pops the Javascript ad page. It just repeats over and over. We don't have this problem on a regular Mac computer using Safari although you do with Firefox (and there again, you have to disable Javascript).
So something has to be done to correct this problem. Advertisers have figured out a way to 'disable' pop-up ads. (Apple - please fix or a third party plug-in would be welcome!)

  • When in safari on my ipad I get the home screen of safari from my iMac

When in safari on my ipad I get the home screen of safari from my iMac this has only just start to happen can anyone tell why, and how do I prevent it.
    Thanks

Safari on the iPad doesn't have a homescreen setting, unless you cleared it's history and cache via Settings > Safari it will re-open the last set of tabs that you had open in it, or if you created a homescreen shortcut for a particular page then tapping on that will always open it on that page

  • Safari dictionary on iPad

Our school district is buying carts of iPads to use in classrooms. One of the uses will be to administer the state math and reading standardized tests. When our iPads display these tests, students are NOT supposed to have any resources available for them to use (unless specifically permitted by the test).
The test is web-based. When students take the reading portion of the test, Safari on the iPad includes the feature in which a student could highlight a specific word, then obtain its definition. This is not allowed.
Is there a way to temporarily turn OFF the definition feature when using Safari on an iPad? Thanks for your help.

    Interesting question!
I know there is a "profile" capability that can be used to restrict various features for enterprises, which presumably include schools.
There is no option for a general public person to turn off the dictionary, but I strongly suspect (but do not know for sure) that setting up a configuration profile would allow you to do this.
So I recommend you contact Apple directly.  You may wish to contact the Education Store, which is presumably where the iPads were purchased.  If you're in the U.S., a general way to contact Apple would be to phone (800) MY-APPLE.  Here are the worldwide support telephone numbers:
