WHERE IS THE RESTORE KEY ON THE LATEST VERSION OF ITUNES? I NEED TO RESTORE MY IPAD AND CANT FIND IT
I updated to the most recent version of itunes before restoring my ipad- and now I cant find the "restore" feature! Anyone know where it went?
It is in the same place as it always was.
Ctrl B to show the top menu
View > Show Sidebar
Your device should be in the left hand panel
Select your device the restore functionality is on the summary page on the right as usual

I have over 1000 duplicates in both my files and in the Itunes library. The duplicate function appears to have been removed from teh latest version of Itunes. How do I identify and remove multiple duplicates from my library and my music file
The show duplicates/show exact duplicates features have been left out of iTunes 11.0. Rumor suggests they will be restored in the next build. In the meantime I have written two Windows scripts to make playlists of Duplicates and Exact Duplicates, either from a selection of tracks or the entire library. Note that, as with the iTunes feature, this list makes no distinction between "originals" and "dupes", you have to decide which is which.
There is also my DeDuper script for automatically removing duplicate copies but keeping one remaining copy of each set. This can preserve ratings, play counts, playlist membership, etc. which are lost in a manual clean up. Please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping. See this thread for background on deduping and the script.
If you want to manually remove duplicate tracks use shift-delete to remove selected tracks from the library as well as the playlist. Keep one of each repeated group of files and don't send the others to the recycle bin unless you are sure that there are multiple files on the disc as opposed to multiple entries to the same file. Same advice to backup applies.

On the hope that latest version of itunes will work more for me, I downloaded the itunes version 12 recently. But to my surprise the sync button is not there even if I connect the ipod ( classic iOS 1.3 version). My ipod serial No.is 8L730BL1V9M and it is ipod classic with buttonwheel. I am having 32bit Windows vista home premium and using DELL system. How I can find sync button and for your information, the itunes player window shows every song I have in the library and I cannot sync the songs to my ipod. Hitherto there was no such problem for playing and copying songs from and to my ipod. What is the remedy ? please tell if anybody knows.

I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with the new version of iTunes. I also apologize, I'm a bit unclear on exactly what you are seeing in iTunes when you have your iPod classic connected. Thanks, but I checked - iTunes Match is turned off in my iPad. In fact I am not subscribed to iTunes Match.
After docking iPad to my PC, I clicked the iPad icon in the side bar of iTunes. Then I tried to drag and drop music from my iTunes library into the iPad. But it doesn't go!
I am not syncing iPad with iTunes on my PC because an alert is appearing to erase all the earlier stuff which I had transferred to my iPad from a different computer. This is eventhough the 'selected playlists....' is checked.

Latest version of iTunes on Windows 8 not recognizing iPad 2
I recently upgraded my iTunes to the latest version on Windows 8. The previous version backed up my iPad 2 and my new iPad. After installing the new version of iTunes only my new iPad is recognized in the program. What can I do to resolve this?
Disregard above question. I purchased a new cable for the iPad 2 to see if that corrects the problem and yes now iTunes recognizes the tablet.

Altho I checked "sync via mobil me", nothing ever happened. Tech support then advised unchecking that and syncing instead via computer/cable and iTunes

Actually nothing seemed to be synced, altho I'm not sure whether I looked everywhere. In particular, no iTunes content was sent to the iPad, no Safari bookmarks, no Yahoo or Gmail contacts etc. Shouldn't some of this have been synced, or is it only content in Mobil Me, i.e my Apple Mail contacts etc? -
Also, the "burn playlist to disc" command has disappeared from the File options. I downloaded the latest version of iTunes but that only restored tracks I'd bought from the iTunes store. I also tried setting up another logon.
Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. Note that in iTunes 11 an "empty" library may show your past purchases with links to stream or download them.
In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
Alternatively, depending on exactly when and why the library went missing, there may be a more recent .tmp file in the main iTunes folder that can be copied & renamed as iTunes Library.itl to restore the library to an earlier state. Look for a recent .tmp file that is similar in size to the .itl files in the Previous iTunes Libraries folder. If it has happened repeatedly you may want the earliest such file generated since the last iTunes upgrade.
If applicable, see iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
I've noticed more of these missing library posts of late and a common factor to most since I started asking is AVG Anti-Virus. It seems in some cases it might be at least part of the reason why the library file disappears. Try excluding the iTunes folder from any AV scanning process.

I can't paste text into info boxes anymore with the latest version of itunes
Ever since I downloaded the latest version of itunes (on Windows 7), I can no longer paste text into the info boxes when I edit song information. I can’t paste by right-clicking or Ctrl+V, this is driving me crazy because I’m trying to add info on a Russian artist with Cyrillic letters and I can’t do it! I didn’t buy the song from itunes so it can’t be issues with Copyrighting although the same thing happens with songs from the store and every other song in my library. I can paste text into the lyrics section but that’s it. I restarted my computer after reinstalling the latest versions of itunes and Firefox today hoping it would fix my problem but it didn’t. Is this happening to anyone else? I hope someone can help me! Oh and it isn’t just with Russian, I tried to paste English info just to see if it was a problem with recognizing Cyrillic and still nothing pastes, the boxes just stay blank.
Itunes is annoying me more than ever. With the constant updates you’d think they would be able to improve all bugs but once one problem is fixed another occurs and it’s so irritating because I couldn’t care less about how my library looks as long as everything is organized in a simple way and I can sync my ipod without spending forever on itunes re-editing stuff and readjusting to updated layout changes. Apple’s attempts at making things look “cool” isn’t worth the F-ing constant problems which matter more! Okay, rant overM_E_G wrote:

That would be Manually manage, not Manually syncing.
Click the drop down arrow at top left the Show menu.
Then iTunes menu View > Show sidebar.
