Where is the UME data source configuration XML file stored on the server?

I'm trying to activate windows integrated authentication in my portal server. The java engine's UME configuration has been loaded as a deep AD read only database using the file "dataSourceConfiguration_ads_deep_readonly_db.xml" but I can't find this on my server. I need to modify a couple of parameters in there to activate kerberos principal management. My recent portal training course offered me a completed working example but it was for an ads_flat_writeable_db so I can't simply load that and I need to understand the changes required.
Where to I find the configuration file on my java instance server so I can make the necessary changes to a copy and upload that?

The persistence manager consults the persistence adapters when creating, reading, writing, and searching user management data. Persistence adapters for the following types of repositories are available: 1. Why do SQL sample programs work when there is no entry for the data sources in the ODBC Data Source Administrator that are used by the sample program?

I am trying to understand how to access an SQL database from CVI.
I don't understand how the sample programs shipped with the toolkit can access the database they use if it is not listed in the ODBC Data Source Administrator.
In the code, I see the line:
hdbc = DBConnect ("DSN=CVI SQL Samples");
However, there is not an entry that I can find in the ODBC Administrator for "CVI SQL Samples."
The SQL help suggests there should be a User DSN named, "CVI32_Samples", but I don't see that entry in the ODBC Administrator on my win-7 system.
I believe the sample program is accessing a database file named, "C:\Users\Public\Documents\National Instruments\CVI\Samples\sql\samples.mdb".
Exactly how is the call to DBConnect() translated to the file, "samples.MDB", if there is no entry in the ODBC Administrator?

I figured it out. There is a 32 bit ODBC administrator and a 64 bit ODBC administrator. The ODBC administrator I run through the control panel is the 64 bit ODBC administrator. To access the 32 bit administrator I need to run, "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe".
I am running the samples in 32 bit mode, so I need to use the 32 bit ODBC administrator.

Data source as XML File

Hi All,
Created one interface which is reading from XML file and populating the data in Oracle Table.
Suppose I have created interface for emp.xml file.
Currently emp.xml file having 14 records and it is populating the target table successfully.
Now removed some of the records from emp.xml file and run the interface again but still it was populating 14 records.
It is not doing the referesh activity automatically.
Is there any parameter in XML Driver need to define in Topology Manager which can take care this problem.

I tried with DOD=YES, it is working with local agent.
But in our case file is placed on unix server and agent is running on unix box.
When selecting that agent it is populating old data.

How to write data to an XML file present under application server

frnds: can ne one tell me, how to write data in to a file, which is present under a application server
Ex: i want to write a string data in to a file test.txt which is present under "http://localhost:8080/<some_webapp>/test.txt"
Note:i have deploted a service<some_webapp> under Tomcat/webapps dir

Very simple. A servlet can writes to that file if it has the good rights.

Problem during the setting the query data source name in forms 6i

We are now doing assignments in forms 6i actually there is a problem during setting the query data source name in run time.
The problem is

that bolded area is the problem that ia varchar value the single qoutes embedded with that value.how can i embedded single qoutes in that concatenation.
That is now query will run like select empno,ename,deptno from emp where hiredate =control.value
But we need like select empno,ename,deptno from emp where hiredate ='control.value'

Portal sizing and UME Data Source

Hi Expert,
Please suggest the sizing approach towards the Netweaver Portal which will be used by about 50 to 60 lacs of customers on internet. New users will be allowed to self-register themselves on the portal. Also what are the recommendations on the UME data source while implementing the portal.

Hi,
As you have already mentioned that no. of users is going to be large (some 500k-600k) it is important to undestand that these are the total number of users. You will have to do following to determine concurrent users:
1. You will have to determine concurrent user phase i.e. peak load phase or time with max. no. of users you can imagine will work with Portal in 1 hours time. Reason to follow this method is large no. of users
2. Categorize your total users in to Low, Medium & High profiles. That means, you should categorize say 500k users in to these three categories. Low category users are those who access portal occasinally. To clarify it even further, users performing not more than 400 screen changes are to be put into this category.
SAP has already mentioned the benchmark figures for these categories:
Low: Users performing 400 dialog steps/week
Medium: Users performing 4800 dialog step/week
High: Users performing 14400 dialog step/week
With this, you will have better clarity of how to determine concurrent users. You can use Activty Reports or ADC Service to initially determine the user trend. You can also make use of Wily Introscope to identify no. of logon requests made. Advantage of using Wily is you can see the data sliced into different time interval like last minute, 10 min, last hour and so on. This shall give you better picture of how many users are making logon within 1 hour.
Also as your user base is large, I don't think SAP recommends to use UME for 500K-600K users. It should be LDAP as far as I can think of. However, do get a second opinion about usage of the DB.

Getting data from an XML file and pushing it to a database

I need to create a coldfusion page that grabs an incoming xml file, extract the data and then push it into a database. I have never done anything like this, and have been reading as much as I can find. Can anyone recomend a good resource or give me a hand on how I go about doing this?
The xml file is coming from another page. Basically the source page is a simple text box that an xml file is pasted into and submited. The action page must grab the xml file, pull out the data and funnel it into a table. Then it must query the table and based on the results of the query, push a new xml file back to the user.

Insert a xml file without assigning the tablename in the xmldb

hi guys,
here comes a interesting question,
after I registed a xml schema in oracle xml db, oracle create several tables depending on the schema, then I want to insert a xml file that is valided with the register schema and this xml file point to the "schemaurl" .
If its possible to insert this xml file to oracle xmldb without point out the exact table name in the java program ( in oci driver or thin driver ).
BTW, I can copy this xml file to oracle xml db repository, oracle insert it to xml table automatically.

Does anybody know where is the data source configuration in JDeveloper 11g? I want to create a JNDI data source using the database connection. Do I have to login the Integrated WLS to create the data source? Thanks.

Looks 11g didn't create the data source automatically in the App Navigator. I checked the deployed application directory - "Application Data\JDeveloper\system11.1.1.2.36.55.36\o.j2ee\drs\TestDS\adf\META-INF" and "Application Data\JDeveloper\system11.1.1.2.36.55.36\o.j2ee\drs\TestDS\META-INF". I didn't find the data source file - data-sources.xml. Then I started the web application and checked the Context, I can only find the data source which I defined in the Integrated WLS. It is interesting that 11g removed the JNDI list from the RMI bindings.
Also thanks to Nick for the information. We are migrating a Spring Framework application to Oracle and don't use ADF Business Components in this project.

How to test or view data if the source is XML files..?

I just got a doubt..
How can we test or view data from BI Admintool if the source is XML files.
If it is database we can perform "Update Row Count" or "view data" from physical layer.
I am just going through the "sample sales" example and could not find the option to test
connectivity with xml file..(I can see the directory which points to samplesales and xml files..
but how can I view those data in BI admintool)..
Help would be appreciable..

Excel SSAS Tabular error: An error occurred during an attempt to establish a connection to the external data source

Hello there,
I have an Excel report I created which works perfectly fine on my dev environment, but fails on my test environment when I try to do a data refresh.
The key difference between both dev and test environments is that in dev, everything is installed in one server:
SharePoint 2013
SQL 2012: Database Instance, SSAS Instance, SSRS for SharePoint, SSAS POWERPIVOT instance (Powerpivot for SharePoint).
In my test and production environments, the architecture is different:
SQL DB Servers in High Availability (irrelevant for this report since it is connecting to the tabular model, just FYI)
SQL SSAS Tabular server (contains a tabular model that processes data from the SQL DBs).
2x SharePoint Application Servers (we installed both SSRS and PowerPivot for SharePoint on these servers)
2x SharePoint FrontEnd Servers (contain the SSRS and PowerPivot add-ins).
Now in dev, test and production, I can run PowerPivot reports that have been created in SharePoint without any issues. Those reports can access the SSAS Tabular model without any issues, and perform data refresh and OLAP functions (slicing, dicing, etc).
The problem is with Excel reports (i.e. .xlsx files) uploaded to SharePoint. While I can open them, I am having a hard time performing a data refresh. The error I get is:
"An error occurred during an attempt to establish a connection to the external data source [...]"
I ran SQL Profiler on my SSAS Server where the Tabular instance is and I noticed that every time I try to perform a data refresh, I get the following entries:
Every time I try to perform a data refresh, two entries under the user name ANONYMOUS LOGON.
Since things work without any issues on my single-server dev environment, I tried running SQL Server Profiler there as well to see what I get.
As you can see from the above, in the dev environment the query runs without any issues and the user name logged is in fact my username from the dev environment domain. I also have a separated user for the test domain, and another for the production domain.
Now upon some preliminary investigation I believe this has something to do with the data connection settings in Excel and the usage (or no usage) of secure store. This is what I can vouch for so far:
Library containing reports is configured as trusted in SharePoint Central Admin.
Library containing data connections is configured as trusted in SharePoint Central Admin.
The Data Provider referenced in the Excel report (MSOLAP.5) is configured as trusted in SharePoint Central Admin.
In the Excel report, the Excel Services authentication settings is set as "use authenticated user's account". This wortks fine in the DEV environment.
Concerning SecureStore, PowerPivot Configurator has configured it the PowerPivotUnnattendedAccount application ID in all the environments. There is
NO configuration of an Application ID for Excel Services in any of the environments (Dev, test or production). Altough I reckon this is where the solution lies, I am not 100% sure as to why it fails in test and prod. But as I read what I am
writing, I reckon this is because of the authentication "hops" through servers. Am I right in my assumption?
Could someone please advise what am I doing wrong in this case? If it is the fact that I am missing an Secure Store entry for Excel Services, I am wondering if someone could advise me on how to set ip up? My confusion is around the "Target Application
Type" setting.

PowerPivot workbooks contain embedded data connections. To support workbook interaction through slicers and filters, Excel Services must be configured to allow external data access through embedded connection information. External data access is required
for retrieving PowerPivot data that is loaded on PowerPivot servers in the farm. Please refer to the steps below to solve this issue:
In Central Administration, in Application Management, click Manage service applications.
Click Excel Services Application.
Click Trusted File Location.
Click http:// or the location you want to configure.
In External Data, in Allow External Data, click Trusted data connection libraries and embedded.
Click OK.

Another reason is Excel Services returns this error when you query PowerPivot data in an Excel workbook that is published to SharePoint, and the SharePoint environment does not have a PowerPivot for SharePoint server, or the SQL Server Analysis

Error while changing UME data Source of EP.

I am trying to change the UM Congifuration for my EP.
Currently EP is using ECC System as UME data source, Now I am trying to change it from ECC to SCM.
For that I have done SSO between EP and SCM, also I have created SAPJSF id on SCM with roles
SAP_BC_JSF_COMMUNICATION, SAP_BC_JSF_COMMUNICATION_RO, SAP_BC_USR_CUA_CLIENT_RFC and maintained same id on EP under Um Configuration- SAP System.
After doing this while checking the test connection it is giving me following error.

This RFC error is encountered when there is no message server host name in this file.
C:/windows/system32/drivers/etc/services
make an entry like this sapmsPBI 3600/tcp
3600 is the port number , try to figure out the correct port number for SCM and update this.
These changes are to be done on your Portal side.
