Where to get genuine apple spare parts?

Not sure if this is a taboo subject so I apologize in advance if it is.
My wife knocked my iPad off my desk today and the screen cracked when it hit the floor. My house insurance will cover it but the cost of excess would mean its better I just buy I new iPad myself. I spoke to the apple care people and they say its going to cost about £260 for a repair.
I would rather do the repair myself so my question is, where can I buy genuine apple spares like a replacement screen in the UK? I've found a few sites that sell the screens for around £100 but I'm sceptical about their authenticity when it states things like 'premium craftmanship' and 'quality materials'. It makes it sound like someone (other than genuine part) has made it.
On a side note, the iPad had a otterbox defender case on and it only fell from about 2.5 foot and the screen cracked - waste of £60 in my opinion!

I've spoken to Otterbox but they were totally on the defensive - telling me how great their product was at protecting the devices. Asked me if there was anything they could assist in apart from replacing/repairing my iPad - think they were probably hinting at giving me a replacement case. Obviously they missed the point of my email when I complained that it didn't work for my iPad!
I'm not blaming the case for the break - my wife was the one that knocked it off the desk so she is to blame (and will never be allowed to forget it ). My gripe with the case is that from the description on their website (and from most reviews i've read), this case is supposed to be tough and handle stuff like this. I don't think a 2.5foot fall onto a wooden floor is all that great a distance but hey, i've been proven wrong!
There are lots of places in the UK that offer the repair service but it'll be cheaper and quicker to do it myself. I've already removed the screen and it only took 2 minutes! A replacement screen here in the uk is retailing at about £100.00. I just wanted to know if anyone else has tried it and if the 3rd party screens for sale are as good as the original?

Did you try to contact HP support and ask them? But if that is the laptop I am thinking with a AMD chipset your heatsink swap isn't the problem here. The graphics processor is going bad and if not you need to open your case and clean out the dust on the fan and vents and reapply the thermal paste to the processor and grapics processor that will do more then a heatsink replacement will do. And whom told you to replace the heatsink??

Such applications and software were a part of the Toshiba image and are not downloadable.
You can use it only if you install the original Toshiba image on the Toshiba notebook.

Wish I could be more positive but as far as I can see, the solution is to make something for yourself and tape it on. It appears they do not supply a proper replacement and Ifixit, the usual people say they don't have them.

Spare Parts genuine OEM

Can i still buy Genuine OEM Spare parts for my 2007 iPhone 2g,.. i can see there are loads of parts on ebay, but to be honest i don't want cheap crappy replacement parts, i want top quality OEM / genuine Apple parts, but unsure if its possible to get them, and if so from who? (checked with Apple and they said Apple do not sell any spares parts)

Where in Europe to buy RAM risers (original spare part)?

I posted in this thread about my non-starting Mac Pro 2008. It turns out the problem was a broken slot on one of the RAM risers. This happened once before which is rather annoying.
The repair shop wants 120€ for a riser card and I seem to remember they can be found for less. Does anyone know where in Europe one can buy such a card, original Apple spare part?

You will need to completely identify your HDX noteboook with its product name.
Lets start with you helping us by identifying your notebook completely.
HP has produced and brought to market more than a thousand different models of notebooks and desktop PCs over the years. It is difficult to help you if we don't know which specific model you own..
Method #1: If the notebook will boot into Windows, you can retrieve your Product Number by pressing Fn + Esc key.
Method #2:
Remove the battery and look in the compartment where the battery was installed. You should see a Service tag with printed part number and a product name. Please post the p/n (with all alphanumeric characters) here. If you live outside of North America, it helps us if you post the country of purchase. Also post the installed CPU type. (AMD or Intel)
Don't forget to post the name of the installed operating system if you haven't already done that.
Use the Maintenence & Service Guide to see exactly which parts you need. Once you identify the notebook I will be able to edit this post and provide a link to the pdf file for you.
You can use the HP Part Surfer to order the parts you need, if available, from HP.

Recently, mine got physically damaged and none of the touch buttons work, I cannot even turn the WiFi on. So I need to replace it, but I cannot find this spare part anywhere.
It does not appear on the list of spare parts for this laptop, with any of those names.
Does anybody know where can I find this spare part?

In case it was not very clear, the spare part that I am referring to is the panel placed above the keyboard, that has touch sensitive buttons for multimedia functions and for enabling the wireless device.
Buttons appear In this order:

Where can I get a spare part for my fantastic apple sound dock A1121

All,
I am a proud owner of a approx 7 year old apple sound dock (the white bar with contacts on top)
unfortunately my kids ripped the ipod out of the top contact bar, and somehow the contacts broke.
I could manage to open the box and dismount to find out whats wrong, but its simply broken.
the spare part would be a plastich frame with the contact bar.
Is it possible to obtain from Aplle or the origin manufacturer this plastick frame and the plug?
I can run the device using the AV cable on the rear, but this is unsufficient and not too elegant.
any help is appreciated. If anyone has a vendor or support link, just post it here or send it to me directly .

Apple never sold parts for that device, and I've never seen any third-party source for parts or repairs. I think you're probably, therefore, out of luck.

Where do I find spare partes for in-ear headphones?

Apple in-ear headphones have a BIG defect.
It's too easy to loose the gummy part that fits into the ear, especially if you them around the neck while not using them and you wear a backpack.
the replacements you find in the packaging have different sizes, so that you can find the right size for you BUT there is only a couple for each measure, thus you DON'T have replacement parts.
I've lost 4 pieces in the last months progressively adapting in using the wrong sizes (how annoying!).
Now I've lost another and apparently there's no way to get spare parts.
Headphones cost as much as 90 EUROS in Italy
My ones are just a few months old and perfectly working!!
I can't believe I have to trash them because I can't find a spare that could cost few cents ta Apple.
In my eyes this is a big hit to Apple reputation
I "forced" my company to buy for me in the last months a MacBook Pro, two iPhones (3G and 4) and an iPad 3G. I think I deserve some support, but, at least in Italy, the customer service is not up to the level of the brand.
Is there someone out ther that can help me?

Where can I buy a genuine apple replacement battery (A1309) for my Mid 2010 17" Macbook Pro? There are used batteries on ebay that don't appear genuine. There are some third-party knock offs. The apple store seems to believe they can replace it, but I have to make a reservation at the silly Genius Bar just to have them tell me how much it's gonna cost, not to mention then likely wait for them to order the battery and install it. I'm perfectly capable of installing it myself. I just need to know where I can order it?

Yeah, that's what I've finally decided. I was kidna super frustrated because the first apple store I called wouldn't even tell me a price or tell me if they could replace the battery without a Genius Bar appointment, and as I would have to take off work and drive acros town--and I don't have a car so I'd have to borrow one--that was pretty annoying. That call left me pricing linux laptops. I called another store to see if I'd have better luck, and the initial answer was the same, but the girl relented under some trying-to-be-nice-but-clearly-annoyed pressure, and she gave me the answers I needed: yes, they should have the battery in stock and it should be a same-day replacement that should cost $179.
It just *****, really, because there's so much about Apple that I used to love, and I'm watching it kinda melt away under their success in the mobile market. As a professional user, there's less and less reason to stick with them. Instead of being the best they can be, I feel like they're just trying to be flashier and just a little better than the other mediocre computer companies. Ugh. Anyway, now I'm ranting.

I am experiencing the exact same issue during the installtion process for iTunes 10.5.
I uninstalled all Apple components but when I attempted to uninstall the Apple Software Update I received the same message: "Fatal error during installtion." I was able to repair the Apple Software Update but still could not install iTunes 10.5 afterwards.
I have tried everything that I could find on these discussions pages as well as other suggestions on third party sites. Unfortunately the Apple TV doesn't have a web browser so you can't do that.

Apple service centre employee told me that they do not have this 14 day offer in India.
And My mac book pro is taken in by Service centre people to run test etc and I will be informed the next day if they accept it as a fault or not ?
I feeling ridiculously bad.
