Where will linear channels be?

Ok, so we hear (=know?) that new linear IP channels will be introduced by the end of this year, or whenever.
But, where will this channels be in the Vision 2.0 interface?
Will they be part of the TV Guide, and/or in the TV channel categories screens (say FXUK in the Entertainment category)?
Or will they be in the On Demand section?
Or will a new update be pushed to introduce yet another category 'Linear Channels'?
It may well be speculation, but if someone here has any clue (beta tester or mod), it would be nice to hear from them.

They will be on the Guide under the yet to be introduced IPTV channel area. (400 - 499)
You can read it here : http://www.dmol.co.uk/__data/assets/pdf_file/0009/78237/DMOL_LCN_Consultation_Statement_30Jul12_Fina...
It should have already been implemented but Sky objected and it was only partly carried out at the last retune. Sky lost their appeal and the changes will go ahead later this month.

  • YouView Linear Channels 2

BT have again announced in the last few days that more linear channels are on their way to the Vision platform. Does anyone know a) when theyre coming and b) if they are coming to YouView ?
    Thanks in advance.

The extra channels (IPTV via broadband) have now been officially launched.
    http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/consumerProducts/displayTopic.do?topicId=35463
    It just says
Note: Sport and Extra Channels are available to Infinity customers only, subject to availability.
These products are not yet available on YouView.
    Here is the smallprint.
Extra TV channels – Available to new and existing broadband customers that sign up to a 12-month TV Essential Extra contract. If you've got less than 12 months left on your Infinity contract, you'll need to re-contract to Infinity for another 12 months. HD ITV1 not available in NI or Scotland. HD and Blockbuster films cost extra. HD requires a HD ready TV and a HDMI cable (supplied with new, but not replacement boxes). You'll need a minimum line speed of 15Mbps. You will be charged £49 if you are a new BT TV customer or require a replacement box for Extra TV Channels. New to Infinity 1 and Unlimited Infinity 1 customers will also be charged £25 activation (rising to £30 on 22nd March 2013). You'll need a BT Home Hub 3. A 10 metre cable or Engineer Install will be provided if required. Quality of content depends on local transmitter, suitable rooftop aerial and availability of digital channels. You'll need to pay by Direct Debit and we'll charge you for On Demand content. Subject to availability. Terms apply.

  • No linear channels on ADSL

Since the linear channels wont be available over DSL, can we assume that shows such as the walking dead on FX etc will be available to watch ondemand instead?

Erm, you want people to assume a definitive reply to you re a service that hasn't even been announced yet?
How's anyone supposed to do that with no information to go on?

  • YouView Linear Channels

    Hello All,
Ive recently signed up to BT Vision via the new YouView box. In recent months BT have announce linear channels will be added such as Discovery, National Geographic, Eurosport etc. Does anyone know when exactly these are available ? Will they appear on the nromal Youview guide or within the Vision application ?
Having just left Sky to join BT these channels are ones I like to watch :-)
Thanks for any help in advance.

I'm new to this too as I got my box because I ordered Infinity and as a Sky customer who mostly watches Discovery, National Geographic and History and similar channels I had hoped to change fully to BT but not sure if I will be able to watch the programs I want with BT, also will there be more options in the pipeline?
I have noticed that if I set up from the TV guide to record an HD program I sometimes get a message saying that HD not available in my area at this time and my program is not recorded, shouldn't the guide only show programs available to watch or record?
    Thanks

  • Linear channels postponed to 2013?

The Wikipedia entry for BT Vision has been updated recently and now shows all linear channels to be offered in 2013. It used to say 2012 before (denoted in brackets after the name of each channel).
Does someone know anything more specific than we do on when linear channels will start launching?
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BT_Vision

I think they mean that Sky Sports will launch as linear IP channels (as opposed to Freeview) in 2013... which we kind of already know, along with BT sports and stuff.
But the change of the other channels, like FX, Gold, etc., from 2012 to 2013... is that conjecture or did the editor know something we don't?

  • Youview linear channels - clarification on Non BT ...

    Hi.
I have search on the forums and cannot find an answer to my questions regarding the announced extra channels that BT are to make available (MTV, Discovery, FX etc..)
Are the extra channels to be made available to Youview subscribers this summer along with BT Sport, or will they arrive at a later date? I have only seen info on the BT Sport channel.
I currently subscribe to the TV Unlimited package along with unlimited Infinity, will the new linear channels be included with this package, or are BT planning on charging extra for the new channels?
Any info on this topic would be much appeciated.

Whether or not you can use power line adapters depends on your speed. Plug an Ethernet cable into the home plug and into your computer and test the speed. I get 30mb. The channels play just fine without being directly connected to the hub.

  • New linear channels

Does anyone knoiw when the new channels are to arrive and if their is to be a price increase,I do like bt vision but the feed back is very poor,COME ON BT GIVE US A DATE AND SOME DETAILS !!!!

    clinton1 wrote:

No details have yet been announced, but I will tell you a few things -
Yes, there will be a price increase. Their not going to give this stuff away for free, you know. BT have already stated they will be subscription channels (which isn't a surprise). But they should be available as a BT Vision bundle contract.
The channels are expected (alledgedly) to be launched sometime around Sept, although I don't know this as a fact.
The new linear channels will be delivered via a BB system called Multicasting, but the Multicasting network will only be enabled on the new Infinity fiber network (Openreach have stated this on their website). So if you either haven't got or can't get Infinity, you unfortunately won't get the new channels either.
And we will also get HD linear channels too (as stated by BT).
Hope that clears it up. A bit.

  • New Linear Channels - How and When?

I have just recently taken out a subscription for BT Vision Essentials (with Infinity 2) and I have read that new linear channels are to be added before the end of the year as follows:
    Gold (2012)
    Watch (2012)
    Alibi (2012)
    National Geographic Channel (2012)
    Nat Geo Wild (2012)
    FX (2012)
    Good Food (2012)
    Home (2012)
    Eden (2012)
Does anyone know when these will actually be launching and how we will get the channels (i.e. will it just be a channel re-scan to obtain the new channels and then you can watch them) ? I would be particularly interested in watching live feed Eden and Nat Geo!
Also, when I watch trailers for HD Box Office movies they don't appear to be in HD. Will this be the quality of the movie once downloaded or just the trailer? If I watch BBC Iplayer in HD I can tell a difference but no difference when watching trailers for standard or HD movie rentals.
Lastly, does anyone know why shows such as Homeland do not appear on the 4od catch up when they do on PS3 or Laptop ?
    Thanks,
    Simon

These channels will be added. As to pricing we don't know yet. As ro launch date we don't know yet. They will appear on the EPG in the area now reserved for them after the Freeview changes.
HD films are indeed in HD, I have never watched a trailer for them but I can assure the quality is excellent.
Finally your last question, what appears on the Catch Up offerings are down to  the individual broadcaster - you would need to ask C4

  • Out of no where, will not connect wirelessly.

I just purchased a Windows 8 pc. However, I take such good care of my techie things I still have an old Toshiba laptop about 8 years old, maybe a little less that runs just great, it's just the technolgy was getting a little behind. It's the old style "tablet" that has the swivel screen and was considered "heavy" accord to our standards today.
The Toshiba Satellite (circa 2005) laptop is an XP with all the updates and service packs. I keep it lean and clean with Advanced System Care, have for months with no problem. It was always used to connect wirelessly.
About the middle of February I switced from Verizon slow DSL to Comcast because we have no other choice for a faster speed. No FIOS. But, I've come back a full 180 to Verizon. However I did get a new modem, the latest advances. It's a D-Link ADSL2+  (DSL2750B)  Supposed to run 3 to 6 times faster than the old Verizon modem I had. When I first connected to the DSL I turned this laptop on, connected wirelessly and it was there great going! I was even hitting almost the top speed I am provisioned for wireless. The modem is only 2 feet away but still. I turned if off, turned my attention back to the new Windows 8 machine for a day couple of days
Then I wanted to go back and check the Toshiba XP  and revel in it's great performance on this new modem .... drat!!  It detects all local stations, even of course mine, but when I try to connect it tries but fails and jumps to a neighbors DSL. I can however connect with the Ethernet cord.
I've been using this Toshiba Tablet for months with a USB wireless adapter just fine that a friend gave me. In fact either the internal wireless adapter and the USB worked with not a problem but tests seemed to show his gift of the adapter was a little faster, so I use it exclusively.
So neither wireless adapter, internal or USB will connect to my modem. I even tried pressing the WPS button on the modem, the one that's lets someone near log on without a password.
So there it is. Can anyone have a clue why this worked at the first and now won't?  Also, all other pc's, including a netbook with XP and a new small android tablet are connecting no problem. It's the Toshiba laptop alone that for some reason ...
out of no where, will not connect wirelessly. Is there an easy fix than uninstalling drivers?  But why would both adapters get a corrupted driver at the same time?  I hope there is help here.  Thanks so much for reading this and consdering my situation.  Jack  ":-D

Since the computer can connect with the neighbor's router, I don't think there is a problem with wireless connection on the computer. So it has to be some configuration or settings problem with the new modem. I would check the encryption of the new modem. If the computer can see the modem, but not connect, my thinking is that the encryption is blocking the connection. Temporarily disable the encryption on the new modem and see if that makes a difference. If it doesn't, you may want to check the advanced settings on the modem and compare the IP settings on the computers that work versus the one that doesn't.

  • With Mobile.me going away soon, where will I be able to upload my iWeb pages. iCloud?

Where will iWeb upload to after Mobile.Me goes away?  As a high school English teacher, I have developed thousand(s) of highly interactive pages of tutorials, tests, keys, lesson plans, etc., that my advanced and learning challenged students have come to rely on.  The last thing I want to do is develop these pages even more without first knowing what will become of my work:  thousands of hours of work.  Uploading to a non-Apple FTP is an option, but then the webpages lose password protection, blogging capabilities etc.  I need an Apple solution...which is what I have always relied on for over 25 years. Using Google.docs would be like retuning to the Stone Age.  Any viable solutions?  I have talked with the Apple Help center folks, but they have no answers to date.  Thanks.

I don't think so.  Steve replied to an email saying that we would have to look elsewhere for hosting our sites.
You can use a 3rd party server and retain password protection on a site or page by page basis.
For what it's worth I signed up with HostExcellence several days ago with their Ultimate Business plan at $8/mo.  That's a wee bit less than MMe was but with that I get 3 free domain names , unlimited space and bandwidth, email addresses, subdomains and 24/7 ear-to-ear excellent customer support.
Within a few hours I had my Demo and tutorial sites moved and up and running.  Pretty simple actually. I used Transmit to open my new server and my iDisk so I could drag and drop from the iDisk onto the HE server. Just like copying from one of my hard drives to another.
Each of the domain names can have an email address and several alias.
As far as a hit counter you'll need a 3rd party one.  I use StatCounter and that gives me so much more than just visitor counts. It gives me their location,  what site the visitor came from, what browser used, what system the visitor was running and lots more.  I've written a tutorial on how to install it: #13 - Adding a StatCounter as an HTML Snippet.
For many of my sites I've put them in my primary domain name account, oldtoad.net.  So the URL to my Demo_1 site would be oldtoad.net/Demo_1.  Same for my Toads Cellar website folder. Copied it into the oldtoad.net directory and the URL for the cellar became oldtoad.net/ToadsCellar, short and sweet.
I had been contemplating this move for quite a while now and the latest round of events and help from longtime HE user and friend, Roddy McKay, got me off my duff and started. Now I wish I had made the move earlier.
Publishing to HE is no different that to MMe.  You can either publish directly with iWeb or to a folder on your hard drive and then use a 3rd party FTP client from there.   Since I optimize my sites with Website Maestro I publish to a folder and let WSM optimize and upload to the server.
Since we have a year before MMe is history one can take time to move to the new server and get things straightened away before going live with the new sites.

The consolidation methods types you have listed are the standard ones  provided by BPC for Consolidation Method types.
You can set the Consolidation Methods in the BPC Administration Console under Business Rules Library -> Consolidation Methods.
There you can see some defaults - you can remove these and set your own if you prefer.
You should read the BPC340 Training guide.

  • Where will we find dynamic option in web forms

    Hi, Gurus
1.where will we find dynamic option in web forms?
    regards
    Taruni

If you're talking about the dynamic POV in web forms introduced in 11.1.2.2.302, documentation only exists in the patch readme at this time. I've pasted it below.
Support for Dynamic POV Member Lists in Web Data Forms
This release provides support for dynamic POV member lists in Web Data Forms. You can create dynamic POV member lists to display dimension members that meet specific criteria. Dynamic POV member lists are created dynamically at runtime, based on the current POV member of one or more dimensions.
Using dynamic POV member lists in data forms enables you to quickly populate rows and columns with valid members, depending on what has been selected in the POV. For example, you can create a dynamic POV member list that defines valid entities per year. When you select a year in the data form, the system displays only the valid entities that were defined in the member list for that year.
    Example:
    YearPOV = HS.MemberListYear
    If HS.MemberListID = 12 Then
    If YearPOV = 2011Then
    HS.AddEntityToList "Group", "CORP_OPS"
    ElseIf YearPOV = 2012 Then
    HS.AddEntityToList "Group", "CORP_OPS"
    HS.AddEntityToList "Group", "CHINA"
    HS.AddEntityToList "Group", "GERMANY"
    HS.AddEntityToList "Group", "UK"
    End if
The basis on which the dynamic POV member lists can be created are Scenario, Year, Period, Entity, but member lists can now be created for any dimension. For example, you can create Year lists based on Entity, Custom lists based on Scenario and Entity, Account lists based on Period, and so on. The dimension on which to base the list (Scenario, Year, Period, Entity) must be in the form POV to be effective. If the dimension is not in the form POV, then the HS.MemberList<object> rule returns an empty string.
Administrators define dynamic POV member lists in application member list files. Dynamic POV member lists are identified with the (@POV) suffix, for example, <ValidForEntity>(@POV). Each member list file must include an EnumMemberLists subroutine to specify which dimensions have dynamic POV member lists, the number of lists for each dimension, and the name of each member list. The member list file must also include an EnumMembersInList subroutine to define the members in the list.
Administrators can then add dynamic POV member lists to a form when they define the data form, in the same way that they add other member lists.
In an application that has dynamic POV member lists defined, users can then use the Form Designer to select member lists for the rows and columns of the form. From the Member Selection dialog box, the valid dynamic POV member lists for the current dimension are displayed with an @POV suffix at the bottom of the dialog box, and users can select them in the same way as other members.
