Which config. will be best. 1 instance & two schemas. Two instances

I have a database with 8GB memory and 4 750GHz processors.
1. One instance and two schemas (one production and one test, both are identical).
2. Two instances with one schema each.(One Production and one test. both are identical).
A 4GB SGA will be enough for production environment if that instance is stand alone. (approximately 100/120 users).
Test env. doesn't need that much SGA and may have only 10 users maximum.
Please tell me some advantages and disadvantages of both.
Will Oracle grab more memory from the system beyond SGA when there are more users connected to the database?

In your case, I would recommend 2 seperate instances for production and test (actually I would recommend seperate machines, but that is a $ issue). I would recommend this, because it will allow you to create both shemas identically, making test and migration simple. In addition, an OOPS won't affect your production instance. Connected user definatly use memory outside the SGA (connection overhead, sort_area_size UGA/PGA etc).

Both will work very well. You might not even need to install the software that comes with them because they'll probably work fine with iPhoto etc. Before you buy a camera, check this list of cameras supported by OS X:

Just about all Nikon and Canon cameras are on that list. If a camera is so new it is not yet on that list, it will be in the next update, probably.
That list is for raw format compatibility. If your camera also shoots JPEG, it will work with a Mac even if it's not on that list. If a camera doesn't work by plugging in a cable, take the card out and put it in an ordinary USB card reader and the Mac will read it.
Nikon has a slight advantage in that it supports a mode that lets the Mac mount a camera like a disk on the desktop. Canons don't mount on the desktop, but it's not really a disadvantage, because Canons still work great with Apple iPhoto, Apple Aperture, Apple Image Capture, and Adobe apps, and all of those are more efficient ways of transferring photos than dragging them out manually.

I posted on here less than a month ago asking about the 30-pin to lightning adapter for the iPhone 5, seeing if it would work with my '08 Volkswagen Jettas iPod Adapter. Sadly to say, I should have listened to my gut feeling (but I appreciate the effort in trying to help) that it didn't work. I was looking around on the Google machine here, and found through a forum these things from CableJive. THey didn't say if they worked or not and I was wondering if anybody had any ideas if they do or not? Or if they think it would work?

OK, try this: First make sure that all anti-virus software & any firewalls are completely turned off...nothing running. Then do the following:

Best parser, it depends on the size of the document. For me Oracle parser seemed to be best for size=1 KB.

HTMLDB as Partner Application to TWO OID instances - Authentication Schemes

For reasons I won't go into here, we have TWO Oracle OID/SSO instances running - independently.
I am interested in having HTMLDB / APEX applications capable of authenticate against either one. (one at a time, but on the same engine installation)
We have done the PARTNER APPLICATION registration which works well against one of the OID instances. Records have been entered into the WWSEC_ENABLER_CONFIG_INFO$ table and everything works as expected.
What option do I have to register the HTMLDB engine with a SECOND OID/SSO as a partner application and then allow the developers the ability to choose which authentication scheme applies?
What I have observed is that the package given (custom_auth_sso) has built in
g_partner_app_name varchar2(2000) := 'HTML_DB';
Is it possible to duplicate that type of functionality, or is there something deeper ingrained into the engine that I do not understand?

I am working under a model similar to your case number two.
Application 1 uses OID A
Application 2 uses OID B
I am going under the assumption that if there were two records in the config_info$ table, that I would need some type of ability to inform the WWV_FLOW_CUSTOM_AUTH_SSO package to switch between them.
I guess what I am missing is the mechanics. I am trying to avoid having to re-write the WWV_FLOW_CUSTOM_AUTH_SSO package by hand. Besides the package body being compiled, I do not know how that authentication scheme is called by HTMLDB/APEX. I have been using the Oracle Application Server Single Sign-On (HTML DB Engine as Partner App) scheme. This leaves most of the Authentication scheme pretty blank with the exception of the Session Not Valid URL ( populated with PORTAL_SSO-) and the logout URL. Magically it works though.
If I had TWO schemes registered in the config_info$, how would I indicate which scheme to use?
Do I have the capability of working with what has already been provided, or am I destined to writing a custom scheme because of the decision which needs to be made?

Different ways to copy data between two schemas in one instance

Hi there,
I am searching a good way to copy data between two schemas in the same instance.
Both schemas have an identical structure such as triggers, tables, views and so on. The only difference is the purpose: one is the productivity system and one is for development.
I looked at datapump but I do not explicit want to export / import. I want to keep the data in the productivity schema as well as copy it to the other schema. Any ideas? I found out there is a copy statement but I dont't know how that works.

I also thought of creating a second instance for development and move the dev - schema to it. I just don't know whether our server can handle both (performance?). Anyway the idea is to have a possibility to quickly rebuild the data inside a schema without indixes or triggers, just pure data. I thought the easiest way would be to copy the data between the schemas as they are exactly the same. However if you tell me DataPunp is the best solution i won't deny using it :).
When you export data a file is created. does that also mean that the exported data is deleted inside the schema?

Hello mlazaretti. Vacation time is awesome. (Especially a road trip!) Since you will be going out for two weeks, you never know if having extra data may come in handy. I highly recommend switching to the next tier up so this way you have more data. This way it is only $10.00 more versus $15.00, and you dont have to worry about overages. Then change back at the start of the next billing cycle.

"Best Practice" for a stored procedure that needs to access two schemas?

Greetings all,
When my company's application is deployed, two schema owners are typically created and all database objects divided between the two. I'll call them FIRST and SECOND.
In a standard, vanilla implementation there is never any reason for the two to "talk to each other". No rights to objects in one schema are ever granted to the other.
I am currently charged, however, with writing custom code to roll up data from one of the schemas and update tables in the other with the rollups. I have created a user whose job it is to run this process, and this user has the proper permissions to all necessary objects in both schemas. I'll call this user MRBATCH.
Typically, any custom objects, whether they be additional staging tables, temp tables or stored procedures are saved in the FIRST schema. I tried to save this new stored procedure in the FIRST schema and compile it, but got "Insufficient priviliges" errors whenever the code in the stored procedure tried to access any tables in the SECOND schema. This surprised me a little bit because I had no plans to actually EXECUTE the stored procedure as FIRST, but I guess I can understand it from the point of view of, you ought be able to execute something you own.
So which would be be "better" (assuming there's any difference): Grant FIRST all of the rights it needs in SECOND and save the stored procedure in FIRST, or could I just save the stored procedure in the MRBATCH schema? I'm not sure which would be "better practice".
Is there a third option I'm overlooking perhaps?

In this case I would put it again into schema THIRD. This is a kind of API schema. There are procedures in it that allow some customized functionality. And since you grant only the right to execute those procedures (should be packages of cause) you won't get into any conflicts about allowing somebody too much.
Note that this suggestion seems very similiar to putting the procedure directly to the executing user MRBATCH. It depends how this schemauser is used. I always prefer separating users from schemas.
By definition the oracle object to represent a schema is identical to the oracle object representing a user (exception: externally defined users).
my definition is:
Schema => has objects (tables, packages) and uses tables space
User => has priviledges (including create session and connect) and uses temp tablespace only. Might have synonyms and views.
You can mix both, but sometimes it makes much sense to separate one from the other.
