Which log file file,

Hi,
I am doing a Abap Proxy to Http according to https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/2372. [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken]
I have deployed a servlet on XI server. I put some System.out.println statements for  debugging. Where should I find the log information I am printing from the System.out?
Is there any other logging api I should use?
Thank you
Monika

Hi,
In example below you will find trace:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/e2/e13fcd80fe47768df001a558ed10b6/frameset.htm
trace = (AbstractTrace)param.get(
                   StreamTransformationConstants.MAPPING_TRACE );
         trace.addInfo(‘...’);
You will see later that in RWB.

  • System.out.println in which log file

We are using weblogic 51 server.
We have System.out.println's in the servlets but don't see
it in any log file. Which log file would/should
              it go to.

If you are running a shell script (not as as service) you will see it in
that shell window, if you run it without a console window (service), you
              usually see nothing.
If you are using a third party tool to run the server as a service (e.g.
ServiceMill for Win2k/NT) you usually can set files where you would like
              your output to be redirected.
If you run the server as a service and don't have this option you can do
              it yourself by setting System.setErr / System.setOut, e.g. in a
              startup-class

grc.com has a program (very small) that does it. The program is called "wizmo" and is written in Assembly.
If you are using Windows NT/2000/XP you can get a program in MS Windows Resource Kit called "shutdown.exe" but the program does only the shutdown job. You must manually turn the machine off.

  • File Based logging: Control file name based on calling service

In the file logging, I need to change the "Prefix" and "Suffix" that I can type in, from page "FILE Transport Configuration" while creating
business service with transfort: File. I need to be able to supply these values for the file name from proxy service activity.
I am creating as logging proxy service which will be called from all the other proxy services. I am planning to use logging to File System based on
BS for achieving this. I need to be able to create a new file with name that corresponds to the calling service. How can I achieve this?
Also this service should be able to turn logging on or off based on the calling service. I should be able to turn off the logging completely or
turn off the logging only for few services.
What is the best way to achieve this?

NO..log files are incremental and connected. If any log file is missing you cannot restore  to point which comes after backup which is lost or damaged.Like u miss 3 AM trn log backup now even if you have 6,9,12 AM trn log backups its of no use .

  • Entries with oracle's IP in log.xml file.

This is about a couple of log entries I found in /dcm/logs/emd_logs/log.xml file.
while I have some Idea about the message itself what I don't understand is why the <HOST_NWADDR> points to 148.87.12.57
Can anyone shed some light on this.
Does R2 connect to oracle in some way each time it is brought up, 'cause the IP 148.87.12.58 is the IP of the PortalStudio and I figured its neighbour belongs to oracle too.
Do I need to keep the box connected to Internet all the time for it to work.
Could someone at oracle tell me what my box is trying to do by connecting to 148.87.12.57.
    Please find the entries below.

  • Wanted: Simple, Straightforward Logging of File Opens and File Closes Per This Specification -- Is Windows Capable of This?

What is needed is for Windows to log every attempt to open any file on the system.  The log shall contain a timestamp, name of file, the type of access required
(read only, write only, read and write, exclusive use, non-exclusive use), and name of the process or service that wants the file open.  Also there must be a record of how the operating system disposed of the request.  If the open is successful,
say so. If not, say so, and why.  We had this info on the mainframe in 1972.  It would be useful to log file close events, as well.  The close event will disclose what the program did to the file.  For example, did the program write into
the file?  Did the program read from file?  Did the program truncate the file and write?  Did the program extend the file?  Did the program change the name of the file?   Did the program change any file attributes and, if so,
which ones?  A file can have multiple streams.  Disclose which streams were affected.
There is a Security Auditing feature in Windows that doesn't meet this specification.  So that is not the answer.   What is the answer?

I have downloaded Process Monitor and tried it on my lab computer. It certainly is comprehensive in its output. I'm going to try it on the production machines in hope of catching clues as to who does what to whom in the file system that is causing
3rd party software to reboot the computer. The author of the troublesome program claims he must reboot the computer at the drop of a hat. For example, some file he must open right now is "locked" by some other program, not his program mind you, some
other program. Okay. So what else is running on the production system that may be doing this? Prove that some other program is doing this.  The fact that we must log all file system activity up to the moment of reboot poses a special issue.
Will the Process Monitor log lose any file system events because it cannot properly close the log as the system is being rebooted?  It is interesting the Federal Government is fine with Microsoft delivering an operating system that has no comprehensive
file access logging capability.  Process Monitor may do it.  But one cannot run that behemoth 24/7/365.  (I hear you saying "Oh.  But we have Security Audits."  A CISSP may be impressed with that one.)

  • ADF Logger - logging.xml file

    Hi,
We are building an ADF Application and created our logger, which is a wrapper around the ADFLogger. As expected logging etc works just fine for the ADF applications deployed in weblogic. However there are parts of the application which could be a standalone (pure java) based components deployed independently, which are leveraging this wrapper logger too. For these applications we added the ADF dependent libraries needed for the ADFLogger. Still these apps are not able to log anything, and I think the main reason being it is not able to get a handle to the logging.xml fine which defines the ODL handler. All other runtime parameters like
    "-Djbo.debugoutput=adflogger -Djbo.adflogger.level=FINEST" are passed.
There is no error etc, however the logs are not coming.
Is there a way where we can specify the logging.xml to the ADFLogger, so that it doesn't looks for the default location under - '+/<domain>/config/fmwconfig/servers/DefaultServer+'?
In general also (for pure ADF based applications), is there a way we can define the path of our logging.xml file, instead of using the default one?
    Would appreciate any help.
    Thanks
    Sachin

    Hi,
While I appreciate your response, however the question I have is - 'can we have our own logging.xml?' If yes how do we pass the information of our logging.xml to ADFLogger, instead of using the default logging.xml.
I know we can have our own logger handler defined within the logging.xml, but that is not what we are looking for. The ask is to have the option of having the path of logging.xml defined for ADFLogger.
    Thanks
    Sachin

  • Retain Console System.log Events file for Usage Analysis

I recently became interested in tracking the usage of some Apple computers. I discovered that the system.log events file in Console provides the login and logout times. So, I was able to use that to calculate how much time the computers are being used. This was very handy because there was data from October 2010 to June 2011. I went back a few days later and discovered the log files had been purged all except a few weeks of data. Is there any way to prevent them from being purged? Or, can I increase the size of the retained system.log file? What's the point of a log file tracking events if it's only going to be deleted? Alternatively there are programs designed to keep track of computer usage such as login and logout times as well as user usage by application. Would you recommend one of these?

Thanks for bringing the typo to my attention. I've corrected that now. I'm reminded of the phenomenon by which we see and read words as groups of letters regardless of their positioning.
I've not really had any specific system problems that cause huge log files. However, sometimes when diagnosing problems it's nice to have a long period of time to examine possible issues.
Regarding your #3, opening .bz2 files... Have you saved these log files from Console and then tried opening them? It's just bazaar. The file opens to another file, then opens to another file, and so on. You never see the actual file contents. Others have observed the same thing.
Regarding your #4, I created the script you mention. It's described here:
    http://www.resourcesforlife.com/docs/item4103
However, I'd like to just go ahead and use the existing system.log events.

Yes. I did edit the torrc file since I wanted the log to be store in that file. Indeed
    ## Logs go to stdout at level "notice" unless redirected by something

    ## you want.
    ## We advise using "notice" in most cases, since anything more verbose

    ## Send all messages of level 'notice' or higher to /var/log/tor/notices.log
    #Log notice file /var/log/tor/notices.log
    ## Send every possible message to /var/log/tor/debug.log
    Log debug file /var/log/tor/debug.log
    ## Use the system log instead of Tor's logfiles
    Log notice syslog
    ## To send all messages to stderr:
    #Log debug stderr
I missed the file systemd uses to choose who's the process owner.
Course, I could edit /usr/lib/systemd/system/tor.service such that root will become the process owner; or, I could add the user I use everyday in the root group, then change the permission of /var/log/tor/debug.log such that it will be writable also for the folks in the root group.
Yet they both seems to be a bit unsafe ...
What is the best choice, to you guys?
    Thanks,

  • Logging all file opens immediately at systemd boot?

when I start my stage-2 systemd boot, I want to log every file that is being opened for reading or writing (to /var/log/accessed.log).  am I reinventing the wheel if I write this or is there already a standard service that does this?
my plan is to use the fanotify_event framework to write a file logger, presumably with a service file like.

    DefaultDependencies=no
    After=local-fs.target

is there a best-practices recommendation where local sysadmins should insert such services (e.g., which directory, steps, etc.)  and, does my logger need to know how to shutdown, or will the standard systemd service shut this down by itself?
    /iaw

You used to be able to do this with boot.kernel.org, but not anymore.
pxelinux.0 isn't the kernel, and you can only use it if you have an actual pxe installation available which I don't think is there at releng.archlinux.org.
You have to install your own pxe setup and yes it does use NFS.
If you are using qemu you don't even need the ipxe, it is already included with qemu.

  • Kernel msgs filling up /var/log/asl files

I'm having an issue where /var/log/asl files are growing > 5GB a day.  The same kernel error msg is printed over and over: (it changes slightly over time, but still says <something>?kernel?<something>
    Y?????????r?kernel?kernr??tr?????M?
    Y?????????r?kernel?kernr??tr?l???M?
    Y?????????r?kernel?kernr?xtr?????M?
    Y?????????r?kernel?kernr??tr?`???M?
    Y?????????r?kernel?kernr?ltr?????M?
Any ideas?  I am running OS X 10.5.8
killing aslmanager (which takes up 99% cpu) doesn't see to stop the logging.  I have no idea what is happening and have exhaustively searched the web for suggestions.  Please help before I have to do an OS wipe.
    Thanks in advance!

Is that the actual kernel message or did you add the  question marks?
Either way, it does not say much.
The aslmanager is just printing those kernel errors.
The cause of them is the key.
Try disconnecting all peripheral devices attached to your Mac,  just to see if any one device is causing it.
If it still persists, boot up in Safemode to see if that stops it.
    Starting up in Safe Mode
What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode? (Mac OS X)
After a restart does it return to normal?
If not I'd run an Apple Hardware test.
To do this, on your MacBook hold down the D key on startup.

I am getting message from MacPro that my start up disc is full - but I can't find this "start up disc" and can't figure out what to do to help situation. I've been making a number of imovies, which generates junk files and material that I should toss in the trash, but it is not clear to me  what items I can toss and which items I can't toss. Can you help? Using the imovie "help" support the system showed me under the menu item "go" where the "start up disc" should be - but that wasn't actually available on my menu!  Thanks for your help!

Your boot drive should be 30% free to really perform properly. 10% minimum
Backup, clone, use TimeMachine, use another drive for your projects and movies, replace and upgrade the internal drive even.
