File Based logging: Control file name based on calling service

In the file logging, I need to change the "Prefix" and "Suffix" that I can type in, from page "FILE Transport Configuration" while creating
business service with transfort: File. I need to be able to supply these values for the file name from proxy service activity.
I am creating as logging proxy service which will be called from all the other proxy services. I am planning to use logging to File System based on
BS for achieving this. I need to be able to create a new file with name that corresponds to the calling service. How can I achieve this?
Also this service should be able to turn logging on or off based on the calling service. I should be able to turn off the logging completely or
turn off the logging only for few services.
What is the best way to achieve this?

HI
That means your file name would be decided at run time . so u can use adapter specific mesage attributes in ur communication channel

    Yes. You can specify two datafiles in one control file and can load using sql loader.
    I give you the sample control file.
    Load DATA
    INFILE 'TEST1.CSV'
    INFILE 'TEST2.CSV'

    Yes. I did edit the torrc file since I wanted the log to be store in that file. Indeed
    ## Logs go to stdout at level "notice" unless redirected by something
    ## else, like one of the below lines. You can have as many Log lines as
    ## you want.
    ## We advise using "notice" in most cases, since anything more verbose

    ## Send all messages of level 'notice' or higher to /var/log/tor/notices.log
    #Log notice file /var/log/tor/notices.log
    ## Send every possible message to /var/log/tor/debug.log
    Log debug file /var/log/tor/debug.log
    ## Use the system log instead of Tor's logfiles
    Log notice syslog
    ## To send all messages to stderr:
    #Log debug stderr
    I missed the file systemd uses to choose who's the process owner.
    Course, I could edit /usr/lib/systemd/system/tor.service such that root will become the process owner; or, I could add the user I use everyday in the root group, then change the permission of /var/log/tor/debug.log such that it will be writable also for the folks in the root group.
    Yet they both seems to be a bit unsafe ...
    What is the best choice, to you guys?

  • Dynamic location for RTF file in Bursting Control File

    Hi
    I have a query that determines the directory location of the RTF file on the server. (eg. query returns /u01/apps/erpd2/inst/apps/erpd2_mcdeagaix821/temp/XMCI_B2CR009_RFS.rtf
    Instead of hard-coding this location as:
    <xapi:template type="rtf" location="/u01/apps/erpd2/inst/apps/erpd2_mcdeagaix821/temp/XMCI_B2CR009_RFS.rtf">
    </xapi:template>
    I change the above to
    <xapi:template type="rtf" location="${RTF_LOC}">
    </xapi:template>
    and fetch RTF_LOC at the bursting level in the Data template.
    After specifying the location as a token in the bursting control file, the Bursting program errors out. It does not even go to the post-processing stage.
    I have fetched the Outbound SMTP server name in a similar fashion and specified the same as a token in the Bursting XML. It works fine. Also, when I hard-code the same RTF location in the bursting file, it works! Just specifying it as a token errors out the bursting process.
    Pls advise.
    Ritu

    Hi Ritu,
    I am probably too late to help you, but here is an answer for completeness. I had the same problem as you, I needed to make my template selection dynamic.
    The bursting control file below was not working until I applied patch 8594771 (BURSTING DOES NOT SUPPORT ESCAPE CHARACTERS LIKE "FIRST LAST <[email protected]>" )
    I managed to find this patch by running the XML Publisher Report Bursting Program with debug=Yes and got the message "java.util.zip.ZipException: ZIP file must have at least one entry". Searching on Oracle Support for this message delivered patch number 8594771
    Here is my control file:

    http://asktom.oracle.com/pls/asktom/f?p=100:11:0::::P11_QUESTION_ID:5033895918209
    ======================================================
    1. We can use the 'alter database rename ' at mount stage to rename any datafile. Or is it not possible to rename the system datafile like this? Why?
    2. What happens to the SCN information in the controlfile when a controlfile is recreated? How will the database sync the SCN with that of the datafiles?
    If I issue a 'backup controlfile to <file>' at 8 am and then restore that controlfile binary backup at 10 am and try to open the database, it will give me a control file old error. I understand that it is because the SCN is not in sync. But if I issue a 'backup controlfile to trace' at 8 am and use that script to recreate a new controlfile at 10 am, why doesn't I get the error? Where does it get the SCN information then?
    So what is the use of taking a binary copy of the controlfile. Looks like having a 'backup controlfile to trace' script is better than a binary backup. Do you agree? Why/whynot?
    Followup August 16, 2002 - 2pm US/Eastern:
    1) you could but I just always did it with the create controlfile statement.
    When moving system -- I do it that way
    When moving ANY OTHER tablespace -- i just offline it, move the files, rename the files online it.
    2) it just happens.
    The control file you create will read the files to figure out what is up.
    I agree, I've never used a binary controlfile backup myself.
    =========================================================
    My Question- In the Point2 above "Where does it get the SCN information and how control file do SCN Sync with data files?
    "

    1. The CREATE CONTROLFILE reads SCNs from the DataFiles. If the
    database was last shutdown, all the datafiles are "non-fuzzy" and have the same
    SCN (as of the shutdown checkpoint), If the database or some of the files are from
    are hot backup, you cannot open the database because the SCN of some files is
    older (lower) than others -- that is why a RECOVER (DATABASE or DATAFILE) is
    required.
    See http://web.singnet.com.sg/~hkchital/Incomplete_Recovery_with_BackupControlfile.doc
    2. I'm not sure I agree with Tom Kyte's response
    "I agree, I've never used a binary controlfile backup myself. "
    to the question
    "So what is the use of taking a binary copy of the controlfile. Looks like having a 'backup controlfile to trace' script is better than a binary backup. Do you agree? Why/whynot?"
    If you have lost your database (storage/filesystem failure) and all your datafiles are lost,
    you cannot simply do a CREATE CONTROLFILE from a Trace -- because the
    CREATE CONTROLFILE has to read and verify all the datafiles specified in the
    CREATE statement. If you have an RMAN Repository, you can use that to restore
    your database files but otherwise, the RMAN information about backups and backupsets
    are in the binary controlfile.
    That is why it is important to take binary controlfile backups either manually or
    using RMAN or using CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP ON.

  • 1 configuration file for all control files

    I happen to use sqlldr many times in my automation work. Most of the times few things in all my control files are same like
    LOAD DATA
    FIELDS TERMINATED BY ','
    TRAILING NULLCOLS
    However if for some reason, something like delimiter changes, then I have to change the second line in all my control files and this makes maintenance tough.
    Was just wondering if its possible to store the common configuration settings in 1 config file and making sqlldr ctl files picking those common settings from 1 single file?

    Of course you don't mention a version. Type four digits and three dots: too much work.
    Anyway: if you submit it as a feature request on Metaclunk, it might be arranged in release 13<whatever>, two years from now.

  • Creating acscii control file from binary control file

    Hi,
    We are in the process of cloning DB on a different server from cold backups taken on source server. The DBA forgot to take the backup of control file by dumping to trace using command
    alter database backup controlfile to trace;
    We have the cold backup files of control files.
    Is there was to create ascii control file from those binary control file?
    I am wondering if we can use any binary file editors like emacs to do this
    Is there any other way to clone it without backup of control file?
    TIA

  • Dynamic Template file location in control file in Bursting

    HI,
    Normally we hard code the location of the template in the control file and keep the file at that server location.
    When we move from DEV to higher instances, we might need to change this path in control file. Is there any way to handle this dynamically and it will take similar path from the instance to which this control file is deployed.
    I need the syntax to handle this situation.
    Thanks,

    You have to hardcode the values like the one below. In this case, even if you clone your instance, it will continue to work.
    <xapi:template type="rtf" location="xdo://SQLAP.XXV8_APXPBSRA.en.US/?getSource=true"
    ${short_appl_name} = SQLAP
    ${template_code} = XXV8_APXPBSRA

  • Questions regarding Alert log & Control file

    Hello,
    This is my first post to this forum. I'm new at administrating a database 11.2.0.3. I have couple of questions regarding Oracle DB.
    1)Which one is preferred method among the two?
       Checking alert log fie manually or automating a shell script for checking alert log file.
    2) Does setting CONTROL_FILE_RECORD_KEEP_TIME parameter to zero make the database unrecoverable, if RMAN recovery catalog is not used?
    Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
    Regards

    1)Which one is preferred method among the two?
       Checking alert log fie manually or automating a shell script for checking alert log file.
    That depends on your comfortability - But checking alert log is good.
    2) Does setting CONTROL_FILE_RECORD_KEEP_TIME parameter to zero make the database unrecoverable, if RMAN recovery catalog is not used?
    Yes - you cannot recover your database if it set zero and doesn't have recovery catalog.

  • Multiplex Redo Logs and Control File

    I am wanting to setup an existing Oracle Express 10g instance to multiplex the redo log files and the control file.
    Instance is using Oracle-Managed Files and the Flash Recovery Area.
    With these options being used what are the steps required to setup multiplexing?
    I tried setting the DB_CREATE_ONLINE_LOG_DEST_1 and DB_CREATE_ONLINE_LOG_DEST_2 parameters but this doesn't appear to have worked (I even bounced the db instance).
    BTW, the DB_CREATE_FILE_DEST is set to null and the DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST is set to the flash recovery area.
    Any help is much appreciated.
    Regards, Sheila

    Thanks for this. My instance originally had two log groups so I've added a new member to each group into the same flash recovery area directory, but have assigned a name. Is this why when I query v$logfile the is_recovery_dest_file is set to NO? Is it ok to assign a name & directory and if not, how do you add a new memeber and allow Oracle-Managed files to name them?
    Also, how can I check that the multiplexing is working (ie the database is writing to both sets of files)?
    Thanks again.

  • Functioning of control file when re-created

    Hi friends,
    we can recover database without data loss when there is a situation to re-create control file(for suppose control file is lost and no multiplexed copies are available) using NORESETLOGS option in controlfile script.
    when we re-create controlfile, no SCN and checkpoint information will be there in controlfile. Then how controlfile will get the latest SCN and how it allows DB to be up and running.
    please explain. thanks in advance

    Hi,
    As per my knowledge I am explaning what will happen at Background.
    As you said that control File is lost and no mutiplexed, In that scenario you are going to recreate the Controlfile. As we know that control file will be in Sync with All DataFiles (System etc.,) , which will hold the SCN numbers, When the Instance is UP with the newly Created ControlFile (Since scn is not available), it will get the Highest SCN Number from Current DataFiles and Check for in Sync with other Datafiles, whether SCN is in Sync with the Other data files or not.
    And further proceed with Recovery Process Based on the Redo Logs.
    As you said if the required SCN is not available in the Redo Logs it will Check for the Archive Redo Logs Based on the SCN i.e., (If Req SCN is < SCN in Redo Logs) It will Check for Archive Logs files.
    Let me know in case If I am not clear or some where wrong in concept so that I can learn some thing inturn from others.!!
    Thanks & Regards,
