Which port do we use?

Hi,
a consultant is setting up a firewall on our servers, and he
asked me which ports coldfusion uses. The server is a standard
installation of coldfusion 7 on a windows 2003 server, and uses
- web services
- cfhttp
- standard web pages (cfm and html)
Which ports should be kept open for this to work
correctly?

Well, he probably already knows the ports for the services
you just mentioned. (Port 80 for http:, etc.)
You may also want to consider port 25 (if you will user the
cfmail function, for outgoing smtp mail).
One other note - if you are having problems running the
ColdFusion Administrator, you could add port 8000 PLUS go into the
IIS Manager, right click on the website you will be running
ColdFusion on, and click on "Properties".
Choose the "Website" tab and click "Advanced".
Under "Multiple Identies for This Website", have your
consultant click "Add", the add the IP Address (or All UnAssigned),
Port 80, and "Host Header Value" of 127.0.0.1.
I hope this helps!

    Your OS might provide a command to support this question like '"netstat".
    Besides, on Unix the pseudo-file system /proc is also useful.

  • Which port number to use in remote site definition? [was:Help!]

    I recently upgraded from Dreamweaver 8 to Dreamweaver cs6.  I'm having trouble accessing my website because I dont know which port to choose.  I never had to choose a port in Dreamweaver 8.  How does one decide which port to use?  Do you just keep picking random numbers until you get one that works?

    Generally, the port next to your FTP address in the site definition will be 21 by default.
    If that isn't working, you'll need to contact your hosting company to see if they use something else.

  • Which ports / protocoll are used for pruning the printers from AD on the printserver

    Dear all
    Does anyone know, which ports or protocols are used between DomainController and Printserver to prune the printer-queue's?
    Regards
    Michael

    Print Spooler The Print Spooler system service manages all local and network print queues and controls all print jobs. The print spooler is the center of the Windows printing subsystem and controls all printing jobs. It manages the print queues on the system
    and communicates with printer drivers and input/output (I/O) components, for example, the USB port and the TCP/IP protocol suite.
    System Service Name Spooler
    Application protocol Protocol Port
    NetBIOS Session Service TCP 139

  • Which port Web Services uses?

    Hi there,
    Which port of TCP/IP does Web Services runs on? As far as from Java Web Services, there is this Java-RPC and WSDL, which ports they each runs?
    Thanks for answer to newbies!

    Hi,
    It depends really on what port you servlet engine is running on. For example, if I run tomcat as usual on 8080, then that is thwe port that the web service runs. BUT. I can also run it on other ports too, at any time (just to confuse matters).
    Can I suggest going to www.wrox.com and do a search for AXIS and download the samples (sourcecode) - most of it works with tomcat to a point. If in any doubt, the book is well worth a buy,but the source runs on earlier versions of AXIS, so there may be a few erors.

  • Can I plug my remote airport extreme into my ethernet to improve the signal of the wds network? If so which port do I use the lan or wan

    My signal downstairs is pretty weak even though I can see it as part of my WDS, I have access to a hard wired internet connection downstairs should I plug in my secondary airport extreme direct to improve my wireless downstairs?

    Hi Other
    Unfortunately you cannot use a Graphite as a client to join a wifi network. Your best bet would be to get one of the game adapters such as the Linksys WGA54G which you can plug into the ethernet port on your Wii to bridge to a wireless network.

  • Which port does datasocket use?

    I'm trying to write string information, across the internet, to a datasocket server, using the dstp protocol. For some reason I can't get this information through to the server. My thinking now is that a firewall is blocking this data and I need to open up the port being used. Does anyone know what port is used when writing to a datasocket server?

    datasocket server listens on port 3015. It should be listed as a non-blocked port in order for it to function.

    Look again at the specs, the port is actually a line level input
    and not all microphones have line level outputs.  From 2012
    spec sheet:
    Audio
    Audio line in minijack (digital/analog)

  • Which ports can i use for port forwarding / port mapping??

    Hi,
    i have set up one port forward with success but am unable to open any other ports it seems.   i am using the following web site to check (http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/)  , and no matter what port number i have tried to port forward, it always comes back with the message that this port is not open.
    Mabe I just hit the jackpot with the first port (9080)...and maybe it is only possible to forward a single port....however I would welcome any advice out there.
    I am using time capsule, and to port forward i am doing following:
    port mapping
    + ener name
    leave service blank
    public udp ports 9000 (example)
    public tcp ports 9000
    ip address 10.0.1.x
    private udp ports 9000
    private tcp ports 9000
    <continue>
    description xxxxx
    service name / type - leave blank
    <done>
    <update>
    please help!!!

  • Which port can  I use?

    When I setup the PIA, I set the port is 8000. After that, I can access the application. Then I want to change the port to 80, however it doesn’t work. I’ am sure that the port 80 is not used by other application. I change the port to 80001 or 8002, it can work. When I change it to 600 or 500, it also doesn’t work.

    For security reasons, you don't want to keep it running as root. Now that you have it running, log into the WebLogic console and follow the steps outlined in this post: [http://devblog.yoann.lemain.fr/2008/12/start-weblogic-server-on-linux-on-port.html|http://devblog.yoann.lemain.fr/2008/12/start-weblogic-server-on-linux-on-port.html]. This will allow you to run WebLogic as user oracle. You will still need to run startPIA.sh and stopPIA.sh as root. WebLogic will start as root, bind to port 80, and then setuid to user oracle (or whatever user you configure it to use).

  • Which ports on a macbook pro can be used for start-up disks?

    I'm looking to buy a mac book pro, I'd like to know which ports can be used as an external startup disk, and how would tthe boot speed compare?
    Firewire would seem as if it should boot twice as fast as an external usb2, but can firewire be used as a startup? Can Thunderbolt be used as a startup disk? I havent seen any devices with that interface, but that doesnt mean there cant be, or aren't curently...Any help? Thanks in advance
    Jim

    Just edited the question to reflect what I meant I thought I recalled creating a bootable SD card for my 13" MBP but couldn't be sure. I've tried so many different things and I'm terrible at documenting what I've done. After nearly 20 years in the tech biz you'd think I'd have learned.

    I have tried passing different no like 6005,6006,6007,6008.... but for all it giving me the same error.
    Can any please answer where i can check that which port system is using and what the available values?
    OS: Windows 7 Professional
    DB:Oracle11g

    Hi,
    Goto start > run > enter netstat -o command and execute it and it will display all the addresses. In Foreign Address column the entire ipaddress:portnumber will be display and along with this process id(pid) will be displayed. Check whether the portnumbers are being used by any other application or it is in blocked state. If it is in blocked state then kill that process id with taskkill /pid /f command at command prompt.
    After doing this you can try to install it one more and let us know whether it got succeeded or not.

  • TCP - which ports?

    Hi,
    I am making a java applet which communicates with the server using TCP. My question is which ports should be used? Presumably some ports are often blocked by firewalls etc, where as some are not.

    Normally a secure internet facing server is only going to have ports open that actually has something using them.
    If nothing is using them then they are not open.
    And to communicate (connect) you MUST have a server running on the port. So when your write your server what port is is going to connect to?
