Which power supply ???

well i need ur help
i need a power supply , i've already checked on sparkle 400 watt , enermax 430 watt and antec true 480 watt
but the combined power of the +3.3v +5v is about 220~235 watts which is good, i suppose, but the prices range from 72 $ ~100$ ...i found aother brand called RAIDMAX and powmax 450 watt or 520 watt the price is about 60 $ but i failed to get any technical info about them ..
the question is are they good enough or not ,, and how much combined power of +3.3v and +5v do they supply ??
please help me  ... if anyone knows anything about these brands or any other brands which costs less than 70 $ please tell me ,,, thanks for ur help ,,,

They're probably a little bit more expensive than some of the brands but your PSU is an important part of your kit and if it means stretching that little bit extra to get a good one I'd advise it if you can.
thats why you get an Antec Truepower PSU  :D

  • Which power supply do I need

I just got a dual 800 g4 quicksilver. The guy I got it from says that the mobo went bad but a tag on the inside says the power supply went bad. It no longer has the power supply in it so I am looking to see which one I would need to get for it and if any one has one that they can sell me cheap.

  • Which power supply for GeForce 6800 Ultra ?

As there are special requirements for the power supply and "550W" is often a marketing gag my questions is:
Which particular (and silent) power supply is recommended for GeForce 6800 Ultra cards ?

All those power supplies i suggested will power the 6800ultra with no problems. Tagan 480, OCZ 480 are very quiet. Enermax 465 is moderately quiet. I suggest you do some reading in the forums first or you might get yourself confused. Also note that the 6800ultra is a very very noisy card.

  • Which power supply for k8n neo2 Platinum

I need to buy a new power supply for my computer. With the ATX12V v2.2 standard and ATX12V 2.01 and the "no -5v on new psu's" issue I'm at a loss as to what to look for. I have looked and cannot find what "standard" (is that even the correct term?) the k8n neo2 supports.
My main requirement is that the psu be 550-650 watts and have modular cables. I know someday I will have to upgrade my system to PCI-E and modern components, so I would like a PSU that would work now and in the future.
Could someone point me in the right direction?
    Many thanks
    system spec's
    Motherboard- MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum
CPU- AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual core 4800 939 socket

Why do you need 550-650W or is that just because of future needs? I would suggest one of the Corsair +12V single rail modular PSU's if you insist on the modular design. Check newegg for what they have for modular in the Corsair lineup. I'm sure you're aware that their price is considerably higher than the non-modular. K8 MB's that needed -5V are the early ones that had Creative Sound Blaster onboard audio.

That's what it is now but if you don't need it in a big hurry you can probably wait a while and get for the same price but with free shipping.
Edit: Gee, Ultra with blown caps, I just happen to have a xPRO 800W that blew some caps, repaired it and started going bad again and then got my TX650 to replace it. VX550 would have been good enough but at the time I got the TX650 at a lower price.

  • Dock VB043AA (compatible with Elitebook 8470p) - which power supply ?

    Hello,
There are 2 docks compatible with the 8470p
    a 90w dock (VB041AA)
    a 230w dock (VB043AA)
I don't see real differences when checking the specs:
    http://portal.tugraz.at/portal/page/portal/Files/zid/files/datenblatt/computing/HP-Docking.pdf
Is it possible to use the 90w power supply using the "230w" dock ?
Why is there a power difference between the 2 docks ?
    Thanks a lot

  • Which power supply for MBP13 ?

I need to buy a second PSU for a 13" MacBook Pro but there are two 60W versions available on the Apple Store and the only difference between them appears to be the price...!
The Apple part numbers are MC461 and MA538. Anyone know the difference between them ? I can't check the part number on the one that came with the MacBook because the user is currently away...

I don't find MA538 on the US Apple online store at all. MC461 will work just fine. The difference between them may be the design of the plug that connects to the computer. Older MagSafe connectors had a cord that projects straight out of the plug at a right angle to the computer's surface; newer ones have a right-angle plug from which the cord emerges toward the back of the work surface instead of straight out to the side.
The pros and cons of the two designs, as I see them, are as follows. The straight-out version is more likely to disconnect cleanly from the machine without moving it if someone trips over or pulls on the cord accidentally, but the cord may be damaged (at the strain relief on either end of the cord) in doing so. The angled version is probably a little more resistant to being damaged in that way, but if the cord is jerked suddenly toward the back of the work surface (in the direction that the plug sends the cord), it may not disconnect cleanly from the machine and the machine may be jerked along with it, at least for a short distance. But either MagSafe connector is much more likely to disengage without pulling the computer off a table or desk than the old-style pre-MagSafe connectors for Powerbooks and iBooks were.

  • Power Supply Help

    Hey,
I'm building a new computer. The specs are as follows:
CASE: Aero Cool Jetmaster Mid Tower ATX
    MOTHERBOARD: Gigabyte GA-K8NF-9 NVIDIA nForce4 4X (Socket 939)
    CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3000 (Socket 939)
    MEMORY: PC3200 400MHz 1 Gig (2x512 Meg) 184pin DDR SDRam
    VIDEO CARD: eVGA e-geForce 6800 GT PCI-E 16x 256 Megs GDDR3
    HARD DRIVES: Western Digital 80 Gig HD @ 7200RPM + Maxtor 40 Gig HD @ 7200RPM
    OPTICAL DRIVE 1: Creative 52X CD-ROM Drive
    OPTICAL DRIVE 2: DVD-RW
    OPTICAL DRIVE 3: CD-RW
    + a Floppy Drive
I will be looking to do a lot of high end games on this machine and I am looking for a power supply to suit my needs. So far I am looking at a COOLMAX 450W SWITCHING POWER SUPPLY (model CT-450) vs. the Enermax Whisper 431W Power Supply (model EG465P-VE)
The thing is that your Enermax power supply is going to cost me a bit more than the Coolmax power supply. However, I am willing to pay the extra cast IF its needed, but ONLY if its needed. So what do you guys think. Can anyone here give me an opinion as to which power supply is better suited for my needs
Also, if you think that none of these power supplies are good for me and I should go in a whole new directions completely... let me know what power supply you think I should go with instead, thnx

  • Power Supply recommendations

I have a K7n420 board with amd 1700 xp cpu and need to know which power supply will do the trick.  I was looking at the Antec true 430 - at $80 I'm not really looking for anything more expensive so keep the price in mind when letting me know what else I could go for.  I did buy a 300watt no name brand but the top of the case was getting too warm for my liking....Thanks for any response.

I was running a 320 watt power supply, and it worked fine on my machine (no lock ups etc).  YOu can see what I'm running in my signature.  I only upgraded to a antec tru430 because I plan to add a DVD-RW pretty soon.  If you buy an Antec Tru series and don't plan on having a lot of other stuff you will be fine.

  • Help buying new GPU and power supply

Hello to everyone, I am new at the forum and also kind on new at buying gaming equipment for my pc.
Right now I am using a pc which I bought a year and a half ago but with the new games coming out I am starting to need an upgrade for my pc.
    My actual gear is:
    Motherboard MSI Z87 G45
    NVIDIA GTX 650 2Gb
    Power supply 600W
    8 GB RAM
    1 TB HD
    thermaltake mk1 chaser
Sorry if my questions are kind of...stupid...I am thinking of buying the new GTX 970 4Gb GPU, buying an other 8Gb RAM and also getting a SSD, but the thing is that I dont know a few things:
    1. Can I use that GPU on my actual motherboard?
    2. Which power supply will I need for all this?
    3. Would you make an other change to my PC?
Thanks a lot for your help!
Also sorry for my english, I did my best at this

    Hi
Your PSU should be ok with GPU.
Yes, RAM should be identical. But even if you buy 2 separate kits of same brand, name, model, timings etc etc it may not work fine.
So preferably single kit. Like this:
As if you buy 2 separate sticks (like this):
Then you might have issues. In your case, you would be doing second option which is asking for trouble. For this, best to ask your RAM vendor for replacement once you buy another 8GB RAM stick.

  • Power Supply Differences for Beige G3's

Need a bit of input here.
The original Power Supply from the beige minitower poached itself, and I've one from a desktop.
Differences are, the MT connector harness has all 20 pins wired, but the desktop only 17. I've checked high and low, found some info on changing the power jumpers but cannot find any info on the actual leads.
I have the voltage regulator from the DT so I can swap that to match the power supply..
I'm a bit baffled here, as the boards between the tower and desktop were identical, the only difference being one had a 300mhz and the other a 266mhz CPU.
THAT in an of itself is academic, since the Sonnet card is going in, and I never swapped any jumpers for the 500mhz or 1ghz cards in either unit.
Am I over-thinking this, or can I just fire away and get on with building my mod-box?
    Deb.

    Am I over-thinking this
Yes. There is a jumper way over in the corner of the motherboard by itself that governs which power supply you are using.
    Done.

  • Power Mac G4 MDD power supply unit/RAM

    Hello,
I just bought a used Power Mac G4 (Mirrored Drive Doors) at a garage sale for $20. The owner said it works, but he took out the RAM, power supply unit and hard drive.
I would like to place an order for the RAM and power supply unit but I am not sure how I differentiate which power supply unit to purchase. When I try to look it up all I find it is that it had gods gift to worst ever power supply unit in the history of power supply units. It was the loudest most obnoxious fan set up or something of the sort.
Well bottom line I need to get a few replacement parts for the old G4 desktop and was hoping that some experienced mac hardware person could point me in the right direction. I am comfortable replacing parts I am just not certain what I need to purchase to install.
Does anybody know of any good 3rd party hardware that they could suggest for a replacement part?
    Power Mac G4
    Designed by Apple in California
    Model No.: M8570 EMC No.:1914
    Thank you very much :]
(I am pretty sure I posted this in the right subcategory, sorry if I did not.)
None of these model numbers match, but it everything I research says it was from this generation of G4’s. How can I 100% tell which one is the model I have?

I just finished rebuilding my MDD (FW800). As for finding specific parts for your machine, be sure you have the model number, or are able to differentiate between the models. That being said, most of the case parts are interchangeable. Problems can occur when swapping processors and failing to use the proper heat sink for that processor.
The best place (price wise versus availability) that I've found for MDD power supplies is on eBay. However, be aware that you will probably be getting it used. So either ask the seller if they will guarantee it for a specified period of time, or buy it from a seller that offers a guarantee (normally 30 days). If you get one that lasts for 30 days without any problems you've probably got a good one. Price is normally around $140 + shipping.
Another avenue is to try shopping the web (Google) for what you need. There are a number of great websites that carry what you may need, or maybe are looking for. Some of those to checkout are:
    www.applecomponents.com
    www.otherworldcomputing.com
    xlr8yourmac.com
    www.lowendmac.com
Additionally there are a number of case and power supply mods that can be done to quiet down the MDD. Apple doesn't necessarily endorse these mods, as they deal with changing power supply cooling fans, and/or the processor/case cooling fans. However, if your MDD is out of warranty, you practice safe electrical/static work practices as you're working, and you're willing to accept any negative consequences should those mods either not work properly or they happen to result in damage to other components, then do what you feel is appropriate.
As for telling exactly which model you have, and how it was originally configured when it shipped from Apple, research the serial number through this Apple website. Another way is to check the model number of the motherboard. This is located near the PCI slots, by the modem connection. It will have a number something like 820-1453-A, or 820-1500-A. Cross referencing these through Google can help tell which motherboard you have. As for the processor, you'll need to carefully remove the heartsink (5 screws) and look at the chip(s) itself. If there are two chips it's a dual processor, and if only one it's a single (Duh!). Then locate the small white sticker that's stuck to the processor card for the processor's info. It should tell you what you need to know about it. You can also look at the info inscribed on the face of each processor chip.
Important Note: Be very careful, and wear a grounding wristband at all times when when working on the inside, or handling any computer components. This is particularly true when handling the processor card, and here's why. Any static shock from you to the motherboard or to the processor could severely damage or destroy that component.
Here's another link to way of quieting the MDD.
    http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/systems/g4mirrored_drive_doors/noise_reduction/g4_ddr_noisereduction.html
Anyway, I hope these help you find what you need. Be careful!!

I was told by a rep. at compaq I'm supposed to find out which power supply chassis is compatible with my motherboard(MS-6390) and I don't have a user manual to refer to, nor do I know anything about power supplies. Is there someone out there who could help me out?
    Thank you! I appreciate it!

Hi, "power supply chassis" - I suppose you only need info about Power Supplies, so, Buy a decent one, not the cheapest you can find as they are no good.
