Which servo controller do I need ?

Hi,
We have a medical labview application, where the user can push or pull a swivel. The swivel is mounted to a motor with a gearhead.
The user turns the swivel to the left and right, and the purpose of the application is that the motor can help or resist the movement of the user.
We have placed strain gauges on the swivel, to measure the torque that the user applies on the swivel.
1. Resistance of movement : The goal is to let the user move the swivel with a constant velocity. The motor must not move by itself, but can only make a passive resistance. We have to adjust the resistance of the motor, according to the torque that the user applies on the swivel.
Using a strain gauge we measure the torque of the user, and send it through a PID loop to control the resistance of the motor, and make the velocity of the movement constant.
2. Helping the movement : Due to the gearhead, the user has to put a lot of torque on the swivel, to rotate the axis.
We now want to measure the torque that the user applies, and then move the motor in the same direction, so that the user doesn’t feel any resistance anymore. This way, we want to compensate the resistance of the gearhead.
The application must be secured, so that a cable break or component failure cannot result in faulty movement of the axis.
We have chosen the Bosch rexroth Ecodrive CS as the motor, but we doubt that the motor drive supports these functionalities. Do we need a combination of a servocard and the Ecodrive?Please advise fo the best hardware for this application.

I regularly look at both the Vision and Motion boards, so I showed your post to a buddy of mine who does a lot of serial communication. From a programming standpoint, this application looks like its just LabVIEW code to control serial outputs, which (depending on your expertise) might make the project significantly easier. Hello. I need help with configuring a Labview code controlling a Thorlabs TDC001 apt-dc servo controller. I just need direction on which commands to use to input the parameters of the distance and repetition rate of the stage that the controller is linked to. Attached are two separate codes that myself and a colleague created for the stage. If someome can look at this and offer some helpful tips, that would be appreciated. I am now learning how to use Labview correctly.

I would recommend taking a look at motion examples in the NI Example Finder (you can find this by going to Help>Find Examples in LV).
You can also take a look at the NI Motion Help here. There is also a good article on motion control in general here with lots of related links that you might find useful.

WLAN Controller configuration help needed

I need to configure AP with WLAN controller for guest access. we have 2 vlans. vlan 1 - guess vlan (internet only access) and vlan 2 - all access.
while configuring wlan controller. which vlan should i configure as native vlan? I have radius server which would check health of the user and would direct wlan controller to put in user in vlan 1 or 2 depending on its credentials.
please advise how to implement it. what would be initial steps.

I have couple of doubts before going further for solution to implement ?
What model of wlan controller & AP , you are using ?
to configure the Controller , initially you need to configure the interface ( which are virtual ) .
You need to connect controller to your existing LAN set-up may be one of the port of your core switch ............
below are the interface which you need to configure in controller .......
1) Management interface with IP ( which will be used to access your controller from lan ... ) this is ip should be able to ping from the network.
2) AP manager IP ( this is again depend on model ) if it is 5500 , this is not required ..
3) Virtual IP : this is should the IP address which is not at all there in your lan eq.1.1.1.1
4) dynamic interface with IP : this is the interface which will map your vlan to WLAN
once you create the mentioned interfaces , you need to create the wlan and map the above dynamic interface with respective wlan.if required you can configure the DHCP pool as well in controller for Wlan.

Which is better for my needs?

I was wondering which is better for my needs? I'm not very familiar on all of this, so any info will help.
I play a lot of games like World of Warcraft, and I do some video editing, + other practical things. I'm debating over to get the 8 GB Memory with a 512 MB Graphics card, or get the 4 GB Memory with the 1 GB Graphics card for the extra money. I'd like to keep costs as low as possible, so I'm also interested in the price/performance ratio.

First, take any iMac model with the standard 4GB memory. You can get top quality memory from Other World Computing or Crucial, amongst others, for about half of what Apple charges. It's easy to put in yourself with Apple provided directions or OWC has video's too. I added two 2GB memory cards in the two empty memory slots to bring my iMac to 8GB.
It sounds like you want the larger screen. I opted for the 21.5" screen with the same graphics 6770M as the low end 27", and have been pleased with it. This, for me, was the price performing iMac.

I don't believe the iOS7 update was the cause for your issue. I have three devices all updated and they all show the Import To drop menu in Image Capture as shown below.

NXT-G block for HiTechnic Servo Controller

I'm trying to track down an NXT-G block for the HiTechnic Servo Controller. My son just purchased the controller at LEGO Ed but hasn't found a block for it. After a lot of searching, we did find a block for the HiTechnic DC Motor Controller ( http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/1129/lang/en ) and was hopeful that a similar block for the servo controller would be available somewhere. He has spent quite a few years working with RoboLab and NXT-G with LEGO robots and felt that the combination of the NXT, servo controller, and NXT-G 2.0 control and data logging would be perfect for his project.

Ok, I made a Sub VI with it, and put together a simple program. When I try to download it to my NXT, it gives me the error "Cannot open a VI because it is password protected."
Any idea on how to fix this?

configure system as
Development-Development
Consolidation- if you dont have server then dont configure it.
Test-Test
Production-Production
NWDI upto consolidation is driven by activities. and assembly to production is driven by SCA. i.e complete software packaging
as Test server means where you can test your complete application.That means you need to deploy whole application as a sca file.
and in NWDI sca file is generated after assembly.
consolidation is only for verifying you changes before packaging you application. it can't be a test server.
