Which windows process to kill if all are named "java"?

If I have several Java programs running, all processes in Windows are named "java". I think this is because they are started by the java command.
If I want to kill the process for a certain Java program I often don't know which Java process to kill. Sometimes I can distinguish them by their size in memory, but often not. Then it is like in the movies where the bomb defuser asks himself whther to cut the blue or red wire...
Is there any trick, for example name the java processes so that they can be identified in windows as being this or that Java program but not the other one?

it will showed processid and name of main class than run using java or javaw. And based on processid , you can kill that process

  • Unnamed faces 'declared' but all are named

iPhoto upgraded itself to whatever the current release is after I upgraded to Yosemite. I had many pictures with named faces and no pictures with unnamed faces prior to upgrade.
Since the upgrade I have a set of 26 pictures which have named faces in them, but declare that there are also unnamed faces present. There are no unnamed faces present.
I've looked at previous threads. Many folk in those threads speak of iPhoto 11. My iPhoto, which says it requires no update (well, the App store say so), says it is 9.6 (910.29)
    All help gratefully received.

After searching this set of threads I came across iPhoto's First Aid screen
    To enter this:
    Close iPhoto
    Open finder
Locate the iPhoto Library (it is in Pictures)
Hold Command and Option, and double click your iPhoto Library. DO NOT LET GO of the keys until the First Aid screen appears
I worked steadily down the list until one of these solved my problem. I succeeded after repairing the library and had no need to rebuild it. All now works happily.

  • Windows processes

I need to know which windows processes are used by Oracle so I can monitor cpu usage. I think it might be lagging the system.

You said not by pure java. I interpreted that to be "not by code alone". Therefore, there must be a way to do it, just not by java code only.

I deleted the Entourage contacts as that seemed to be the program that was causing the problems.  When I synced this morning, now all my contacts are gone from every where.
How can I restore to my last back?  If I restore, it will ask to restore to the back that was just made… which has no contacts?
Help would be greatly appreciated !!

  • Killing a windows process

    Hi,
I am wondering if it possible to kill a windows process from Oracle forms? if so how can I do it?
    Thanks
    Jibu ...

Hi Jibu, and Happy New Year!
I've figured out how to kill a program using the SendMessage API, by sending its parent window a WM_CLOSE message. This works fine, but as long as all client machines will be running XP, I believe I prefer the taskkill solution.
(For older OS'es, I believe Microsoft includes a kill utility with the Microsoft Resource Kit.)

Thanks for that. Much more constructive than the last comment. It's only the restriction code I can't recall, not the access passcode. So I can currently access the device, just not age restricted content. Does that's make a difference? I also wondered if anyone knew how many attempts you get to try to get it right. Now tried 21 times and so far nothing bad has happened but I am concerned I'll eventually be completely locked out of the device. That doesn't seem in the spirit of things though. Surely it's foreseeable that a child could repeatedly try to guess the code so I can't see that it would be right to lock the device down completely in that circumstance, particularly if the access code is being typed in correctly every time.
    Thanks

When I try to synchronise my calendar it all goes wrong when I have recurring appointments which I enter on Outlook. These are in the format ' first Tuesday of each month' as I play Bridge with different partners on different days each month so it is NOT every 4 weeks necessarily, it depends on the month.  These get lost on synchronisation or sometimes end up on a totally different day/date.  What can I do as it is very annoying.
Also it altered some theatre dates where I had entered both date and name of play - the name of the play vanished when I synchronised not just on i-pad but it deleted the info from Outlook as well.

Others have the same complaint.  iCal on the iPad can do recurring appointments, but not in the format you want (First Tuesday of every Month).  It will do the same DATE each month (e.g, the 25th of each month), but for now it does not do a particular DAY of each month.

How can i kill a windows process giving the executable name (eg: "acrord32.exe") ?

I mean, not with standard Java, maybe with JNI by launching some native command with Runtime.exec()... look on an MS forum maybe...

  • Every time I open iPhoto a window opens telling me that there are 3 photos that have not been imported. Recovered folders are opened with no photos and I cannot find which photos have not been imported. Help please!

Every time I open iPhoto a window opens telling me that there are 3 photos that have not been imported. This happens twice. When I answer yes then nothing happens and if I answer no then a recovered folder is opened with no photos in it. These recoverable folders keep opening with no photos in them. I cannot find which photos have not been imported. Can anyone assist please?

Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for a Folder called 'Import' or 'Importing'.
Drag it to the Desktop. *Make no other changes*.
    Start iPhoto. Does that help?
If it does then look inside that folder on your desktop. Does it contain anything you want? If not you can trash the folder.

  • Invoking Remote Processes and Killing them

    Hi,
I need to invoke c++/java programs remotely using a web browser on multiple computers on a network. I am running web servers on each of the computers. These web servers host servlets to invoke the processes locally on that computer. The web front end provides invocation of these servlets. The servlets are essentially using Runtime.exec(command) to start of the particular program (c++).
the problem is now killing the processes remotely. Is there anyway I could accomplish that?
Please give a example if possible. The last time I asked this question I was given some very tough answers which I could not comprehend at all.
    Thanks.

thanks jschell for the quick reply,
I found out a way to do this. I am using kill.exe, a utility to kill a process in windows given the name of the executing process. It seems to be working fine except a new problem. This may sound a bit wierd too. I am using a couple of machines including a few servers running win2k advanced server. I know using kill.exe on these servers is not a very nice thing to do from a security point of view but the present task is purely academic in nature. Back to the problem. I am able to run the batch file, kill.exe and other stuff on the local machine through a servlet hosted at a web server running on the same machine. I am ablr to do this for most machine except one. Now this machine is running win 2k advanced server too. The exact query that would be defined from this discussion could be -
Are there some setttings that allow how much control is given to the servlets running on the web server at the local system?
Can a servlet, once invoked, perform any action on the machine?
I searched some literature/documentation on this. Did not get anything specific. Your reply would be higly appreciated regarding this.
    Cheers!

  • Often, Firefox app will close, but the underlying Windows process will not and cannot be stopped via Task Manager. When this happens, Firefox can no longer be used...the system must be rebooted.

    Hello,
Often, the Firefox app will close, but the underlying Windows process will not and cannot be stopped via Task Manager. When this happens, Firefox can no longer be used...the system must be rebooted. This happens especially when many apps are running but even though there are plenty of memory resources available.
I have tried to find if something is using Firefox in the background, but have no way to know what that would be.
Their are no apparent viruses detected.
Firefox is version v5.0 and occurred in earlier release.
    System is Windows 7 (64bit).

well, it's not the same hardware and it's a bit different.
I managed to pass that stage somehow but I still have a problem
I don't use the built-in creator tool that comes with Spyrus as it doesn't know how to append a pre-staged media that was created by SCCM that should apply the Windows file system to a second partition and the WinPE to the first partition.
I managed to do everything. my only problem is that the WTGCreator that comes with SCCM 2012 R2 creates the 350MB partition with FAT32 file system.
when I boot from the device I get the WinPE, I can choose a task sequence and then it fails when trying to apply the wim file. the error tells me that the 350MB partition is FAT32 which is not supported (even though it chooses the second partition, which
is all the rest of the disk space)
what I did was adding another task that converts the 32 Fat partition to an NTFS partition and then the process continues and finishes successfully! but that's a workaround.
I'm trying to make this process as smooth as possible without having additional steps

  • Event ID: 7024 Windows Process Activation Service will not start error %%-2147467243

Reside on a network that contains network GPOs.  We are given authority to create unique GPOs for our specific LAN Web server.  Our Intranet web page requires Windows Process Activation Service and another service to open.  Before creating
the local GPO, the two services were in Disabled mode, but we could set them to Manual and start them.  The network GPOs would reset them at random every few hours, but again we could reset them.  After creating the local GPO, the WPAS is set to
Manual and will not start at all with the Title errors being generated.  Administrator previously completed successful GPO mods in WinSvr2003.  Is there a different way of doing GPOs in WinSvr2008R2?  I cannot provide logs or further details
other than the above.  Any ideas would be helpful.
