While accessing oci8 driver

Hi,
Environment : WindowsNT, oracle 8.1.5 , jdk 1.2.2
I have downloaded the oracle 8.1.6 jdbc thin driver able to connect to the database. I have also downloaded the 8.1.6 oci8 driver which has ocijdbc8.dll which I copied into ora_home\Bin dir.
When I am accessing the database it is giving error msgbox "The procedure entry point slzetevar could not be located in the dynamic link library oracore8.dll" when I click ok it gives error "ora_home\bin\ocijdbc8.dll : The specified procedure cud not be found"....
If any one can help me withe the solution it would be helpful to me....

Have you installed the Oracle client software for your client platform.. Client software includes networking software and requires support files.

Does multilingual work with Oracle oci8 Driver? I am facing problems with oci8 while thin driver works fine ...

Hi, I am currently working on iPlanet 6.0 SP4 with oracle 8.1.6. I am planning to make my application language independent. while testing I figured out that if i use oci8 driver or oracle, it doesn't support other language characters while the thin driver supports fine. Can anybody help me regarding this? Is this a bug, or some possible configuration issue? Has somebody came across this problem before? How do i go about it ?

We faced same issue. Looks like the native driver does not support the automatic data encoding/decoding from/to database. You can always workaround this by reading everything as byte stream and then by letting java handle the encoding/decoding. But we decided to use type4 thin driver which does this automatically if you set the content type. Anyway we are told that later versions of IAS may not support native drivers, so if you are serious about multi language shift to type4 thin drivers now itself.

Problem with oci8 driver

I tried to load Java classes through TOAD, but it keep saying:
Info:Error while connecting with oci8 driver to ORCL: java.lang.NullPointerException
Info:exiting :could not open connection
What should I do?

I used the thin driver with the next command:
loadjava -thin -user system/pass@snne:1521:orcl d:\Sample.class
and I got the folowing error message:
Sql Error while connecting with thin driver to snne:1521:orcl: ORA-00604: error occured at recursive SQL level 1
ORA-12705: Cannot access NLS data files or invalid environment specified
exiting : could not open connection

When i check in this path SecStore.properties is there , also i have checked the permissions .....................please revert the reason of this error .
Main part of this all is that after taking a reboot everything becomes fine , this happens every few days .

Hi,
This error crops up when the the folder usr/sap folder sharing is lost . We have recently faced this problem this is Windows OS level problem you can ask your OS admin. Applying a security patch will do.

BSOD: bad_pool_caller, while accessing Internet (youtube video, bgm, online games)

Dear all readers of this writing,
I truly want to get help or advice of solving my blue screen problem called "bad_pool_caller".
Even, I nicknamed myself as "bad_pool_caller of death" because this caused several painful experiences while playing online games. Furthermore I am just a beginner about computers, so even this small problem makes me crazy.
Let me introduce my problem and what I have done to solve this problem.
-Symptoms
this bad_pool_caller problem does not occur in offline. I found that none of problem occurs even while playing single player games over 7 hours like Far cry3 or bioshock infinite.
Only while accessing Internet, this problem occurs.
Especially, while playing any youtube videos
even also other sort of video players, almost within 20 seconds, my computer shut down by bad_pool_caller error.
and video's buffering is extremely slow.
This is not just a Internet access problem I think, because I have another my own laptop and when I play youtube video of my laptop, it plays well.
Also, when I enter a posting linked with bgm files, and try to install and play online games like starcraft 2, same things happens.
(Although the frequency is lower than that of bad poor caller, Driver IRQL Less or equal error
pops up while playing online games.
During surfing Internet without these, bad pool caller error does not happen, so I think these three things(youtube video, listening bgm, online games) have much to do with my error.
-What I have done

I was very happy when I found this because the situation of the writer in upper link is almost same with that of mine.
As the answer written, I format my C drive(Toshiba) and install windows 8.1 full version completely and upgraded graphic drive(GTX 760) and upgraded latetest windows 8.1 beta version upgrade of Wireless lan card drive(Netgear N900).
However, you know, still this error occurs...
-Guess the cause
I know that most bad pool caller problem arise from Hard drive and memory corruption.
But, my desktop PC is bought only a month ago and I bought quite a good SSD and HDD and Ram for playing high quality games.
So I don't think the main cause is my SSD or HDD. My graphic card is also a new one.
I suspect the cause is my network adapter, wireless lan card (USB) because this connects Internet access between my desktop PC and Louter.
I am living in University dorm and using louter using with other students together.
For getting Internet access of my desktop PC, I've bought wireless lan card (Netgear N 900) and I think this lan card causes problem such as windows 8.1 compatible
But I fully upgraded and updated lan card driver and reinstalled several times and this N900 is not bad lan card so I don't determine this is the real cause.

As you said,you have updated your NIC driver.
Did this issue happend when you used the wired LAN?
I think this is related to wireless driver.
I suggest that you try other wirless card to test this issue.

According to the exception message, it looks
like the connection fail between WLS and Oracle 9.2.
Here is a scenario I think you should need to know.
I change the table-name in the weblogic-cmp-rdbms-jar.xml
to a name that doesn't exist in the database.
Then, re-package the EJB, copy it to server and restart the server.
A exception occurred that says the table doesn't exist.
So, in this case, it looks like the datasource works and
connection is fine.
Any recommendation will be appreciated.

Issue while accessing a SQL Server table over OTG

I have been learning oracle for about 1.5 years and am just starting to learn some OTG pieces. I am wondering about an issue. The issue is:
"We need help with an issue we are having while accessing a SQL Server table over OTG. We are getting the following error message in Oracle :
ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message:
[Oracle][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Unicode conversion failed {HY000}
The column it is failing on is "-----------" in the view --------------- in the SQL Server database pointed to by the Oracle DB Link ------------------- thats created in the Oracle instances ---- and -----.
This was working before, but is now failing, we suspect its due to new multi-byte data being added to the base table in the above column."
I took out the details and added ---- instead. I am wondering your guys thoughts on fixing this issue and helping me learn along the way. Thanks

1. What is the character set of the Oracle RDBMS being used. What is returned by -

We get SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_C1_AS and 1252 as Collation Property and Code Page
The datatype of the column in question in SQL Server is nvarchar(100).
When I do a describe on the SQL Server view ( desc CK_DATA_FOR_OPL@------- ), I get the error below;
ERROR: object CK_DATA_FOR_OPL does not exist
Select * from CK_DATA_FOR_OPL@------ where rownum =1 does get me a row.
create table tmp_tab as
Select * from CK_DATA_FOR_OPL@----- where rownum =1;
desc tmp_tab shows the datatype of the said column in the table created in Oracle as NVARCHAR2(150).
Not sure why a column defined with size 100 in SQL Server should come across as 150 when seen over OTG. We see something similar in DB2 tables we access over OTG as well.

Finder crashes when accessing network drive

We have four macs on our network. When trying to access a volume on our network drive Finder crashes. The drive is accessible via FTP as well as From Windows Machines. Its only on Finder that we are having the problem. Everything use to work.
Im on an iMac, my Finder totally spazes out. Blinking off an on. On another system it just crashes. On the other two systems it just won't access the drive & Finder closes.Just started today.
If anyone know what this is please help!

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately I did buy diskwarrior on my way home, ran it a few times. No success. It did identify problems it couldn't fix with a lot of the files that were in my suspect folder (a font folder) but since I can't access the files directly on my hard drive I can't get rid of them.
I did follow your suggestion, but all that it did that I can see was scatter my folders on the desktop.
Yet, while typing this, I just found a creative way to solve the problem!!! I was able to access the font folder in Bridge even though I couldn't access it otherwise. I deleted it in bridge and now things are working as normal!!! Thank God for Bridge. Amazing. Especially since that font folder has been on this machine for months, and the previous machine for years without ever causing a problem...

When selecting a MS SQL VARCHAR (max) column over a ODBC Gateway database connection I am getting this error from Oracle:

The ODBC driver should map the varchar(max) column to SQL_LONGVARCHAR which would be appropriate for Oracle but the column is getting truncated
Issue
By default the SQL Server ODBC driver exposes the varchar(max) data type as a SQL_VARCHAR. When reporting the maximum size of a varchar(max) column, the driver returns 0, which is the Microsoft convention for "unlimited".

DG4ODBC is unable to interpret a zero length as an "unlimited" size and returns an error when retrieving varchar(max) data.
FreeTDS and DataDirect ODBC drivers return SQL_LONGVARCHAR instead of SQL_VARCHAR with 0 precision. So there is no problem reported for these drivers.
Is there a fix for this or is the Microsoft ODBC driver team working on a fix for the driver regarding varchar(max)?

Cannot connect using oracle jdbc oci8 driver

I am using Oracle 8.1.5 JDBC oci8 driver, but when try to connect, always got ERROR: java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError:make_c_state
With the same code, but change to connect with thin driver, it works fine. Pls tell me the problem. Thank you.

This code can be run without specifying a TNSNAME connection string, as the oci8 jdbc driver will take localhost as default.
OR
Only specifying the TNSNAME is enough, i.e. edit %ORACLE_HOME%\network\ADMIN\TNSNAMES.ORA file and locate the XXXXX.WORLD entry in the file. This is the TNSNAME entry referred to.
Without TNSNAME entry you can re-run,
%ORACLE_HOME%\jdbc\demo\samples\oci8\basic-samples> java JdbcCheckup

Error while accessing oracle link

Dear Gurus,
I am facing following error while accessing oracle ODBC Link.
I cross varify ODBC connection , its working fine ,
[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified
SQLSTATE: IM002
SQL System code: 0
Please suggest.

An ODBC connection is not required for Oracle or IBM DB2 because Application Server has internal connections to these databases through Oracle (OCI) or DB2 (CLI).
When you create a new Link ID, you select Oracle (OCI) as the connection type.
In the Link ID properties box specify the additional information needed to connect to the database server. The username and password must be the owner of the CPMS_ tables.
You can find further documentation in the guide Configuration Help Strategy Management 7.5 in Section 3.1.5 Creating a Link ID for Certain Implementations.

Finder pauses before accessing thunderbolt drive

New Mac Pro ( late 2013 ), latest Mavericks.
wd 8Tb My Book, thunderbolt.
if I try to access a folder on the drive and I haven't accessed the drive for a little while, like 10 minutes, the finder pauses up to 10 seconds before showing the contents of the folder.
Any idea why it would take this long and what do I do to remove this delay?
on a similar , maybe related , note, I use the drive to store video that I stream to a PS3 through a power line network. part way through the streaming the video will pause for 6-10 seconds , then resume. The only thing that has changed in this configuration is the new Mac pro. I was using a 2006 vintage macpro with internal drives before and never had a proble. Could this be related?

It is probably spinning up the drive(s).
