While exporting to .jar I found something...
So yesterday I was messing around trying to export to .jar... I was successful, but when I exported I accidentally exported to .java... And then I noticed that I can export to really any extension... like example.dat... So I did that... Now my question is how can I decompile the code that I exported to 'example.dat'?
Thanks a bunch
Jar archives traditionally use a ".jar" extension (and so you should use that extension when you export the file). But in a lot of situations the extensions does not really matter. You can use any legal filename when creating/listing/expanding the archive. You can also use an archive of any name as part of your classpath.
public class JarTest {
public static void main(String args[]) {
System.out.println("Hello from JarTest");
pbrockway@linuxdeskd6off:~/JDC/temp$ javac -cp . JarTest.java
pbrockway@linuxdeskd6off:~/JDC/temp$ jar cf rose.dat JarTest.class
pbrockway@linuxdeskd6off:~/JDC/temp$ java -cp rose.dat JarTest
Hello from JarTest
pbrockway@linuxdeskd6off:~/JDC/temp$ jar tf rose.dat
META-INF/
META-INF/MANIFEST.MF
JarTest.class
pbrockway@linuxdeskd6off:~/JDC/temp$ An IDE may impose its own rules, but the tools that come with the JDK - java, javac, jar - work according to their documentation.

How to improve ejbc performance while building a jar
Hi All,
We are wasting valuable time in in development stage while building a
jar which
has quite a few beans.
We found out that ejbc is taking up most of the time. For example, a jar
which has
about 30 beans ejbc is taking up about 5 minutes to build the complete
jar.
We are not sure if we are doing something wrong or ejbc itself is slow ?
It would help us tremendously if you can identify the problem and help
us
expedite the process.
Thanks in advance
-SheshiYou could put each bean in it's own JAR file, then only build
the bean that is modified. Guaranteed to be 30 times faster.

Issue while exporting report in Excel Format
Hello,
I am facing problem while exporting the report in Excel Format. After analysis, I think that it could be due to two reasons, either we are using wrong versions of Jars, or we are using wrong API. Here is the code, approaches and problems we are facing. Please help.
First approach we are using is:
// using basic API
import com.crystaldecisions.reports.sdk.ReportClientDocument;
// get client document from crystal report API and open the report by specifying the report name, with path
ReportClientDocument reportClientDoc = new ReportClientDocument();
reportClientDoc.open( reportPath, 0 );
// give chance to extending classes to configure the report document by POJO or by sql parameter etc, just adding the parameters infromation using ParameterFieldController
configureReportDocument( reportClientDoc, reportMetadata, reportData, reportContext );
// get data source of crystal report
Object reportSource = reportClientDoc.getReportSource();
// export the data - we have also tried with MSExcel format
ReportExportFormat exportFormat = ReportExportFormat.recordToMSExcel;
LOGGER.debug( "exportFormat[" + exportFormat + "]" );
ByteArrayInputStream byteArray = (ByteArrayInputStream) reportClientDoc.getPrintOutputController().export(
exportFormat );
Problem Faced: Specified Excel format is not supported.
Second Approach: We come to know that excel format is supported with new releases and with occa package.
Then we tried with import com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.application.ReportClientDocument; It ask to set the ReportServer. When we are trying to set the server as
reportClientDoc.setReportAppServer(ReportClientDocument.inprocConnectionString);
Application is unable to find 'ReportClientDocument.inprocConnectionString' property. It seems like we are using some old jars. However we have downloaded the latest released jars for eclipse 2.
Please help for it. Issue is to export the report in excel format, which is currently working fine for PDF. If this problem is related to Jars, please suggest the path to download the latest jars. We also looking for the latest jars like rasapp and rascore etc. But these are not available with Crystal Report for Eclipse 2 release.
Waiting for urgent help. Thanks you..

Error while exporting a table - EXP-00091
I am doing an export of a table. The table has 1000838 rows. After the export is completed,
when I checked the log - it said
Connected to: Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.4.0 - 64bit Production
With the Partitioning option
JServer Release 9.2.0.4.0 - Production
Export done in US7ASCII character set and AL16UTF16 NCHAR character set
About to export specified tables via Conventional Path ...

EXP-00091: Exporting questionable statistics.
EXP-00091: Exporting questionable statistics.
EXP-00091: Exporting questionable statistics.
EXP-00091: Exporting questionable statistics.
Export terminated successfully with warnings.
I looked in the Oracle error messages document and found this out ---
EXP-00091 Exporting questionable statistics
Cause: Export was able to export statistics, but the statistics may not be useable. The statistics are questionable because one or more of the following happened during export: a row error occurred, client character set or NCHARSET does not match with the server, a query clause was specified on export, only certain partitions or subpartitions were exported, or a fatal error occurred while processing a table.
Action: To export non-questionable statistics, change the client character set or NCHARSET to match the server, export with no query clause, or export complete tables. If desired, import parameters can be supplied so that only non-questionable statistics will be imported, and all questionable statistics will be recalculated.
And this how my export command looks like -
exp vincent/passphr query=\"where state in \(\'MD\',\'CA\',\'WI\'\)\" file=$EXPDIR/fida_label_9i.dmp tables=vincent.fida_label
log=$LOGDIR/fida_label_exp.log
Ofcourse, I am using the query clause because I really need to and it has always worked when we were in the Oracle 8i environment. We recently moved to the 9i. And this happens in this 9i version...
And I certainly do not want to specify the import parameters to ignore the questionable statistics as no changes are desired in that area...(my hands are tied..).
What could " a fatal error occurred while processing a table " mean? And how can this be traced and troubleshooted ? Or how can I find out if any row errors occurred ? And if required, how do I check the character sets and other likes ?? (I have no idea in this area)
Thanks. All I needed was to get around this error. Your suggesions/responses would be highly appreciatedWhat version of Oracle 9i are you using? Do you have a standard 'NLS_LANG' environment variable set on client's machines? Or do you set it to different values on different machines?
Here is one of way you could get around it.
Could you specify the export parameter 'STATISTICS=NONE' while exporting the table data?
Try this and see.
If this is successful, you could use the import utility as usual. You could always compute or estimate statistics on the table after import. -
Issue while exporting report - OBIEE 11g - IIS 7.5
Hi,
We are currently on OBIEE 11.1.1.7.0 version of OBIEE and we have set up proxy through IIS 7.5 on Windows 2008 R2 server.
While exporting our reports, we need to ensure that both Export to excel options (2003 and 2007+) are working fine. However, for some reports, when we try to download the reports to Excel 2007+ format, we get a "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" error message. This issue does not appear if we change the URL to directly access Weblogic server (instead of routing through IIS). Wanted to know if anyone have faced similar issue and have found any solution/workaround for same.
Thanks
HyderHyder,
I have achieved this.We have deployed our OBIEE application on Weblogic server not on IIS.

Getting error while exporting the report
Hi,
I am facing error while exporting the report. Getting below error.
"No data can be exported because there are no rows.Operation failed."
how come this error is coming even though my report contains data.
please do the needful.
i am using the version discoverer 10g.
Thanks,
RC.I am having the same problem. I found this article in which the user was exporting 100,000 plus records and had the same issue exporting (Discoverer workbook exported to excel error - No dta can be exported and they were able to fix it by adjusting two memory settings in their pref.txt file. However, in my report there are only 1,100 records with eleven columns being returned. I export much larger reports on a daily basis.
Originally, the report was returning records and when I would go to retrieve all records it would tell me that all the rows could not be returned and the data may be incomplete. After scrubbing my SQL I no longer get that message, but the report still will not export and I get the same error as you.
I have not tried the pref.txt settings fix but may try it today to see if that is a workaround. I will then have to evaluate whether it is a good fix or just a band-aid. -

Indesign getting crash while exporting because of bad pdf inside file.
Hi,
My indesing is getting crash while exporting to pdf. I have link to pdf file inside the indesign file, when i export that indesign file to pdf indesign is getting crash without showing any error message. If i place another pdf file in same location then it is going fine and i can able to get the output pdf file. Please suggest me how can i check and correct that pdf file and is there any solution to this. Please help me i have thousands of indesign pages with the same issue. If you want pdf i can send it to your mail id. please i need fix for this problem.
Thanks
KiranFor all of you lurkers, Kiran sent me a copy of the PDF, and it looks like I found the problem (and learned a new technique which may help others in the same boat).
I tried re-frying the file by creating an eps and distilling, but the result was the same, then I tried exporting from CS3, just for fun, and it worked, but I realized the PDF had been cropped, so I started trying differnt sections and isolated an area that failed, though that wasn't particularly helpful.
Acrobat preflight didn't find anything that looked odd or problematic, and then I decided to run Examine Document. It came up with MetaData (no surprise) and also two items under a heading of Deleted and Cropped objects, with no preview or description. I unselected the MetaData from the list of found stuff, them clicked the Remove button in the Examine Document panel, and resaved (and while you have the opportunity to give it a new name, doing so doesn't remove the stuff untill you do the whole procedure again and save with the same name). Placed the new version of the PDF in a new file and exported no problem. -

Symptom(s)
~~~~~~~~~~
You are performing a database export against your 9.2 database. The database
export abnormally ends with the following errors:
EXP-00056: ORACLE error 31600 encountered
ORA-31600: invalid input value EMIT_SCHEMA for parameter NAME in function
SET_TRANSFORM_PARAM
ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_SYS_ERROR", line 105
ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_METADATA", line 836
ORA-06512: at line 1
EXP-00000: Export terminated unsuccessfully
Change(s)
~~~~~~~~~~
One of the known causes for the error above is that a patchset was recently
applied to the database but one or more of the patchset steps were not
performed.
Cause
~~~~~~~
View the readme notes for the patchset recently installed. You will see a step
that should have been performed that directs you to run the script named
catpatch.sql. Very likely this step was never performed.
Fix
~~~~
As the sysdba user run the catpatch.sql script found in the directory named
$ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin. Before you submit this script, view it's contents.
You may see that this script places the database in restricted mode.

Adobe Illustrator error while exporting to tiff
While trying to export to tiff with more than 260 dpi Illustrator gives a message: "the combination of artwork size and resolution exceeds the maximum that can be raserized".
Photoshop opens a linked files with transparency incorrectly, also there is a trouble with masks. Now i forced to split this AI file on the layers and open it layer by layer in photoshop and correct all these in there. but if there are masks, then i have to
do a double work..
What can i do to export it? to 375 dpiHow do you do it basically? i set a linear size 1 to 10 ie 600h300mm, make all i need, in Photoshop i set the resolution - 300 dpi, raster elements and other also in the same size (and here i have to ask - why are you setting so high resolutions?).
All prepare, EXCEPT the fonts on the top of the CROP MARKS and export to TIFF and if my computer that allows, set 300, if not then 150-200-100. Then convert the font to EPS, open in Photoshop my TIFF, impose eps one each other, stuck together in a single layer,
stretch to 600h300sm, resolution - 72 or 50 dpi, look 100% fonts, save everything. Am I lose something? Try just follow this.
Another what you can try is to open AI file in Photoshop with the necessary dpi. If you do not want, then while exporting from Illustrator uncheck Anti-Alias, but the picture turns out "toothy" accordingly.
And the last I can recommend is to run a third-party. Some of them can be really useful.
Recovery Toolbox for Illustrator isn’t bad
https://illustrator.recoverytoolbox.com/
but be careful and try the demo first. And read closely about its requirements and the things it can recover. Peace to you! -
Getting Runtiime error while exporting to Excel 97-2000 format (URGENT)
Post Author: net_us2001
CA Forum: Exporting
Hello Everyone,
This is my first time in this forum.
I am getting runtime error while exporting the report in EXCEL 97-2000, but exporting perfactly in MS-EXCEL (Data only) format.
I found the reason is, using expression (formula) for formatting phone number as shown below.
On table field "abPhone",
used "formula = PhoneFormat() " expression on format field -> common tab -> display string .
Intead that i have used fumula e.g. test1 and used same expression, then it was exporting perfactly..
Having above problem if i use expression to supress group header and report header.
So let me know if anyone can help, why it was giving error in first case.
Thanks in advance
Thanks,
NitinHi,
This is the Technical limitation of ABAP list export to local file.
ALV grid greater than 1023 characters per line will be split into 2 lines.
To prevent a line break occuring when you download the list as a local spreadsheet file, you must reduce the width of the list in ALV. You can do this either by hiding columns or by changing the column widths in the ALV. Take care that the column heading characters also dont exceed 1023 characters. This will work.
Thanks
