Or, you can try to add a special application like Airfoil that may allow you to stream any audio signal on your computer to the AirPort Express. It might work.

How many airport express can I add to my network for the purpose of using the airport express to send audio signal to different rooms in the house? I'm interested I'm running about six different zones.
What I'm looking to do is to have self powered in ceiling speakers in every room in my house with out having to run wires to every room to carry the audio signal. I would like to use the airport express to do the job of carting the audio signal.
Here's my set up now I have an airport extreme and one airport express that I use to carry audio to one room.FWIW. I have used up to four AirPort Express Base Stations (AX) for streaming sucessfully in pretty much the way you have described. I didn't have a need to try more so I can't attest that more would or would not work.

Very well, indeed it's true according to information found on google search. The hardware capability for FM radio does exists in some models—the current iPod touch and iPhone 3GS have FM transmitters, and the 2nd-gen iPod touch also has a chip that's capable of receiving FM signals, though it uses it for Nike+ stuff (so if there is a radio app, maybe it'll just be for current-gen models). The third-generation, 32GB and 64GB iPod touch models have a Broadcom chip that supports FM transmitting, though no talk has emerged of implementing that technique.

For now, the only way to stream music offline(without the use of the Internet) is available on the rhapsody application. The version 2.0 of the Rhapsody application latest update, lets subscribers download their favorite Rhapsody playlists to their iPhone, iPod touch or iPad so they can listen anytime -- even when they're not connected to the Internet. However the Rhapsody music service t needs a $10 a month subscription in order to enjoy it's feature, it also has a free trial before you make any subscription payments.

I can no longer purchase music directly from the Apple TV. I can still buy TV shows and movies but no music.....my iTunes match is there.

Airport Express - Can't get started right out of the box.
First off I have Desktop with Windows XP SP3 and a Linksys wireless router and I don't know a whole lot about computers. I planned on using the Airport Express on an existing wireless network. My computer doesn't have a wireless modem but it's connected to the wireless router (just like it shown in the manual).
Installed the software (even got the new update), plugged in my Airport Express and hooked it up to the stereo. I opened up the Airport utility and it can't find the Airport Express. I read the instructions to join the wireless network for Windows. It says to hold the pointer over the wireless connection icon until you see your Airport network name (SSID), and choose it from the list. I don't have a wireless connection icon. I can connect my work laptop to the wireless router with no problem. What have I done wrong?????? I need help before I send this thing back.Welcome to the discussion area!
If AirPort Utility cannot find the AirPort Express, hold in the reset button on the Express until the amber light blinks quickly, hold a few more seconds, then release.
Try temporarily connecting an ethernet cable directly from your computer to the AirPort Express to see if AirPort Utility will locate the AirPort Express that way. Assuming you get a connection, click "Continue" to follow the guided setup to configure your AirPort Express.
When asked how you want to use or configure the device in your system, choose the "Join a wireless network" option.
Once you have the Express configured and updated with new settings, you can disconnect the ethernet cable and locate that Express where it will be needed. -

I have a power mac g5 that does not have a wireless card, and connects to the internet via ethernet cable.
I want to know how to set up an airport express so that it joins my wireless home network and provides the G5 with an internet signal.
This via an ethernet cable that is plugged into the airport express and then into the ethernet port on the g5.
Please advise as I have configured the airport express in every way possible, the green light is on and when I plug the ethernet cable into the G5 my network cofigurations shows nothing and says that the ethernet cable is not plugged in (It is).
I get an internet signal if the ethernet cable is plugged directly into my wireless router, so the ethernet port works.

1) An AirPort Express 802.11n must be used. Check the Model No on the label on the side of the Express. It needs to be A1264. Any other model number will not do what you want.
2) The Express must be configured to "Join a wireless network" and the option to enable Ethernet Clients must be checked.
Open AirPort Utility and click Manual Setup
Click the Wireless tab below the row of icons
The box to "Allow Ethernet Clients" must be checked
Please check to verify that your AirPort Express meets both requirements -

That being said, I'm going describe my setup, which works very well for me.
I have a two story split level frame house, about 2,000 square feet. The airport express is located on the second floor -- I get full coverage all over the house, and even into my smallish backyard. We do have a blu ray player down stairs, located about 20 feet away. We stream Netflix video most evenings, with very good results.
Wifi signal propagation is a vague science, which does make predicting individual results very "ify," as Bob mentioned. -
i am convinced that i am able to set up my airport express in my room to be linked off the base station (airport extreme) wirelessly and have a separate password and name, such as for my room tkbowers room, instead of tkbowers wifi
No. not when you extend.. when you extend it is the same wireless all the way through.. same name.. same password..
The base station name is different but how relevant is that?? -
I have an old airport express ( 1st one ever I think) up until today I was able to use it with iTunes and also Airfoil to stream music. Today I cannot stream music from my MacBook Pro 2008 ( OS X 10.8.3) Airfoil sees the Airport Express but cannot connect, iTunes see it, but will not connect. When I try to connect with Airfoil the error message is "Airfoil was unable to connect to the remote speaker "little fish". Please check the remote speaker and try again."
iTunes just tries to connect and then times out.
I have AU 5.6 in order to use the old AE. It sees the AE and give me a summary page. But if I try "manual set up" or the "continue" button - I get "reading the Airport Express configuration" and then eventually "An error occured while reading the configurarion. Make sure your Apple Wi-Fi base station is plugged in and in range of your computer or connected via Ethernet and try again. (-6753) "
I tried a soft reset, no help.
I tried a hard reset and I was able to see the new airport express and it allowed me to set it up again, then it restarted and everything was the same as before I reset.
I can stream to the Airport Express from my iPhone and my iPad
Does anyone have any ideas on what could be wrong?It appears that the printer is OK and is on the network. Eventually you may want to set a static IP address for it, but let's get things working first.
The first thing I would try would be to reset the printing system on all the problem Macs:
- Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
- Right (control) click the print queue area and select Reset Printing System.
- Select the plus sign to re-add it. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.
If this does not do it there may be something going on with the router. I have a few ideas if this is required. Let me know.

Airport express vs apple tv for music streaming?
Greetings all:
I am thinking of getting something to hook to my home stereo for the purpose of streaming music wirelessly.
I see both the airport express and apple tv can be had for $75 refurbished.
I'm curious as to which would serve my needs better?
I know that both will stream music from my main system's itunes library.
However, I also know that the apple tv has a pandora app native to it. That's a big plus.
Whichever one I ended up with, I would control from my sofa using my ipad.
Without knowing anything else, I think I'm leaning toward the apple tv.... but I'm open to point/counter-point.

TMI am assuming that you have an existing Wi-Fi network ... correct? If that is the case, then I would recommend the Apple TV over the Express for pretty much the same reasons you have already stated. In addition, the Apple TV can also access media via iCloud ... so if you are using that service you won't even need a Mac or PC as a iTunes host.

Before the recent update I was able to export the configs of my AirPort Express and Extreme for later import if needed. It is not so important for the Extreme as it stays at home, but my Express has several configs saved as it is used in various locations and at times I need to change the config from home use to travel use. I am unable to see how this is now accomplished within the new update (version 6.0). Both of the AirPort devices are on verison 7.6.1. Thanks
I found it, you have to have the edit selection made then the import/export option becomes available.

Can I listen to audiobooks apart from the Music app?
Is there any way for me to listen to my iTunes audiobooks apart from the Music app?
The music app is annoying. It can't remember the playback position of the audiobook files.
I used to change the books into podcasts and then use the podcasts app but now it wouldn't sync .
I wish Apple will make a seperate Audiobooks app...If they are not drm and or if amazon Got an app which play them

Can you run two separate streams using an AE to a stereo and ATV2 to a separate TV/stereo combo?

Thanks. This is what I just figured out. I can't send two separate streams via remote or direct off the main computer (iMac). However, with the iMac streaming to Computer, AE, & ATV2 . . . I can pull home Home Sharing of the iMac from the MBP. If I select the already active AE speakers, the MBP tries to connect and says they are in use. When I select the AE speakers from the iPhone remote and turn them off (via remote) I can then select them from the MMP and stream different music to the AE (the other iMac originated stream continues uninterrupted).

I cannot determine whether and how I can share my photo stream with other people through the web. Am I limited in accessing photostream to my own computer, iPhone, and Apple TV???
You can't share Photo Stream via the web, only on your own computer and iOS devices.
