Whistles and feedback

While trying to record myself on iMovie HD 6.0.3 -I clicked on the record button and received a whistle but before that I could here feedback coming from speakers I clicked on the mouse and you could her the click over the speakers and also the typing on the keyboard (that is what I call the feedback) and the whistle is new can't explain it. Even after I shut the record button off and the iSight light is still on you can hear the whistle and feedback but once you turn of the iMovie app everything is okay --well the iSight is of too
has anybody else had this problem --I need help like I said the whistle is new (today) but the feedback is recent-thanks fro your help and time with this matter --hoosey

went into system preferences --to sound and adjusted my input to 3/4 and output 3/4 -no more whistles or feedback -- thanks brother Jim

Hand Coded Contact and Feedback Form

Hi All,
Up until today, I have been using a Contact and Feedback Form from http://www.freedback.com for my website.
I do not want to be reliant on a company for this any longer so I have hand coded a form in the html snippet in iWeb that I am very pleased with.
I want to have the contents e-mailed to me and I have set the form method to "get". Do I need to include my e-mail address under the action section, so the action is to send the contents to my e-mail address?
Also, how do I input the code to re-direct people to a Thank You page on my website after submitting the form? I had done this at Freedback, but this was done through their website.
I am not using MobileMe, rather I upload to my own hosting space through http://www.daily.co.uk.

This is set up in your server control panel under email. The email address you choose can then be forwarded to your Mac mail by changing "Mail Box" to "Forward".
I use Host Excellence and I think you use GoDaddy ??? - so maybe the method is different. I am assuming that GoDaddy has form mail and CGI.

Form posting and feedback

Randy, I am sorry but your reply was absolutely useless to me. I do not understand a word you said. Your reply is very high-brow and I am a new user to Adobe Dreamweaver CS6. You reply needs to be more graphic and less wordy. It is certainly no "cook book." And it comes across unintelligible to the general public. I have no idea what you are talking about. You give no examples nor do you try to teach. Sorry. Perhaps another staff member can help if you are unable to.

Motion control and feedback is inverted

I have an application where the motion control and feedback is opposite of what should be commanded. I am using LabVIEW 8.2, a PCI-7344 motion card, Pacific Scientific PC833 drive & a servo motor w/resolver. The PC833 is emulating encoder feedback to the motion card. I've tried swapping control/feedback signals and the system becomes unstable. Is there any settings in max/LabVIEW to inverse the control/feedback, or are there any suggestions on what to change in the wiring to get the system to operate properly?

I am going to assume that you mean that when you command a positive move, the motor goes negative, and runs away quickly. Different drives handle changing direction differently, but to get basic control, just switch one pair of the feedback signals going to the controller. Swap A+ and A- or B+ and B-.

Double -click and feedback

Hi all,
I have been using Captivate since release 1. Often I have a
user perform a double-mouse click on an item. Without fail, I get
the incorrect feedback message from the second slide as if I tried
to click in the wrong spot on the second slide.
On slide 1, I go to the Options menu for the click box and
select Double-mouse click and Pause for Success/Failure captions.
On slide 2, I remove the failure caption otherwise it comes
up automatically as if I already clicked on the slide when I did
not. It seems to recognize the second click from slide 1 even
though slide 1 won't advance unless I do a double-click.
If anyone has any ideas of how to fix, please let me know,

This is going to sound weird, but the click box that requires
a double click, have you got it set to start at 0.0 seconds in the
timeline?? If so, then change it to start at 0.1 or 0.2 seconds.
This should solve the problem.

The video becomes garbled (think horizontal hold on an old analog TV) and feedback page doesn't work.

Pages load fine. When scrolling down, the video tears and becomes completely illegible. Refreshing the page fixes it until I scroll down further. Also, the built-in feedback page won't let me submit once I've filled it out. I had none of these problems with FF4 Betas 10-up, until RC1. And it's bad enough to make FF unusable. I've upgraded my video driver; no help. Any suggestions?

I have downloaded several Music videos and TV shows, they will not display on my ITunes on my PC. They work fine on my IPod, but they won't play on my PC windows XP. The audio works fine, but not the video. Does anyone have an answer?

Data table for the ratings and feedback of the file

Where are these detail stored and which table. This is required to generate report the feedbacks and rating of all files posted in a folder.

Ratings can be displayed one-track at a time, by topping on the title in the detailed view. BPMs can be displayed only in iTunes on your computer. Perhaps you could utilize Smart Playlists to group your tracks according to these criteria?
You can request features, point out bugs, etc, at Apple Feedback pages.

Acoustic/Electric Guitar and Feedback

I've been trying to get some useable recordings from my Taylor 414CE and I can't get it to work...
I plug straight into my MBPro via a 1/8" plug adapter but get a TON of feedback if I try and monitor off the MBPro's speakers. Is this because it is an acoustic/electric? I can turn the monitor off and record, but the quality still sounds really bad. Any suggestions?
Or do I really need some sort of USB/Midi interface like M-Audio's Fast Track or Black Box? I'm a total recording newbie, so I apologize if this particular horse has already been beaten to death.

plug in some headphones and monitor that way. Acoustic guitars feedback very easily. I think you are probably just too close to the speakers with your guitar. If you really don't like headphones, try facing away from the computer and maybe get a longer instrument cable so you can get a bit further away. You can always chop off the extra bits after you record if you aren't right there to hit stop.

IWeb question and feedback

I've been testing iWeb '08 and putting it through its paces. It really does a good job if you know what you are doing. It is way more capable then the easy templates reveal. But first I have a question.
If I want to include an external javascript file with a page, how do I get iWeb to publish it with all the other data? Right now I have to manually copy it to my publish folder after every time I publish. Not a very elegant solution.
I also have one big request for the next version of iWeb. For some pages, I want to make the browser background transparent. HTML allows this but not iWeb. iWeb only offers a solid color or image. It would be so easy for Apple to include a "none" option for this field like they do the page background. Here's why this little detail is so important.
When I use HTML snippets, I can put one iWeb page within another using iframes. I also overlay iframes for various effect. I need the embedded page browser backgrounds to be transparent so when the inline frame refreshes, the browser background doesn't wipe the iframe clean each time. This is what it does without the transparent option. It makes the whole inline frame look like a refresh instead of keeping the existing objects solid, except for the specific objects I want to change. It may seem a small detail but this goes a long way to making the site look solid and professional. Using transparent iframe overlays allows me to do some pretty nifty looking pages.
Right now I have to post-process my files using a utility that does a multi-file find and replace. It is fast but it still is a hack job - not very Apple-like or elegant. What I end up doing is having every page that I want to be transparent use a certain known color code (ie. #000000) that I then search for and replace with the word "transparent". This does the trick, but again, not the way things should be with Apple software.
This change I'm requesting in iWeb is not anything unreasonable or hard to implement. One Apple tech could do this in about 5 minutes. This opens iWeb up to doing iframes elegantly and enables iWeb to do amazing things without post-processing hacks. I know Apple wants to keep things simple but this one change does not jeopardize this for beginners, yet opens things up to us who are capable. It could make complex pages simple.
Actually, I wish Apple would go even further and add a new option at the bottom next to web widgets. Call it the iFrame, or subpage, option. That way I could do inline frames without even resorting to HTML snippets. Have the details come up in the inspector too. This is more complex to add but even a more elegant solution. Newbies and simple templates could ignore this function but advanced web designers would flock to it.

You are just talking to other users here, so make sure you also put in all your requests to Apple via the Provide iWeb Feedback item in the iWeb menu.

Airport express g and feedback on speakers

Hi forum,
I've just acquired an airport express g which I have I have plugged into a set of audio engine a2s.
The speakers sound great when streaming but when nothing is streaming I'm getting a feedback sound through the speakers like the 3.5mm audio cable has been unplugged.
I tried my N airport express in the same position and did not get any feedback sound when nothing was playing, so I think when the older style expresses have nothing streaming to them the audio side switches itself off which is a right pain as I want to leave my speakers powered on all the time.
Has anyone had a similar problem and overcame it?
The airport express is running 3.3 firmware, I have tried 3.2 and 3.1.1 but that didn't help.
Please someone help!

Ok, now confirmed, is not Lion, neither the airports or WiFi, is iTunes 10.4. When using third party software to transmit to the two Airport Extreme, there is no interruption. So Apple must fix the bug in further versions of iTunes. It has happened before, itunes version 10.3 was pretty stable, but now with 10.4 is have the same bug the once had fixed.

Elgato EYE TV EZ Experience and feedback

I have been thinking about Elgato product for my iMac G5 but i am not sure about the efficiency/quality of TV adaptor for Desktops
Has anyone experience the eye TV EZ? I am quite interested about this one to use TV and most of it plug in a Nintendo, but did not get the best feedback.
Is it really nice and fast stuff like elgato pretends?

I can't answer you specifically on the EyeTV EZ but for what it is worth, I have an EyeTV 200 and am impressed with the quality of the hardware and software, ease of use of the software and the quality of the picture I get when I watch a show or record it on my hard drive. I believe the software you would get with the EyeTV EZ would be the same so that part directly applies. But hopefully someone else will jump in with their impressions of the EZ hardware and its picture quality.

N8 bugs and feedback

Hi there.
I was one of the lucky N8 winners at Qt-Dev-Days in Munich (fact or **bleep** competition) :-) and after using the phone for two weeks I have some bug reports and general feedback. Hopefully this is the proper place to report my problems... Before the n8 I was a n900 user and also had a 5800 XM.
Bugs:
1. The e-mail application and the widget (imap, configured for gmail and email for exchange with a MS server) doesn't sync properly. It knows of new e-mails, but it never deletes old messages unless I click on "synchronize". This behavior doesn't make sense and it's very annoying to keep seeing old e-mails on my inbox if I deleted or archived them (e.g.: via webmail).
2. The calendar (synced via mail-for-exchange) has a problem similar to the e-mail via imap: it know of new entries, but it can't update entries. For example, I have meetings assigned for 6 months on my m-f-e calendar. If one of these meetings is updated (say, the time is changed), the calendar is not updated.
3. On the web browser, there's no way to open links on new windows or create a new browser window. The browser knows how to switch windows if they're open by the website, but there's no way an user can open multiple windows.
4. I don't know how to sync a "mail for exchange" calendar manually, couldn't find it anywhere.
5. While searching for a way to sync my mail-for-exchange calendar, I tried a few "sync" options. I had nothing set up (no ovi account and the phone was not connected to a PC). I canceled every operation it was supposed to start and as a result of an software error somewhere, my full contact list was removed (zeroed). In other words, trying to find a way to sync my calendar, "I" ended up removing all my contacts.
6. After clicking on "Applications" on the menu/grid, it sometimes takes too long to open the next level (the applications menu/grid). I end up clicking a second time and thus opening the video-editor (the next icon gets the "click").
7. The phone keeps switching between wi-fi and 3G a lot, for no good reason. It also froze a few times when switching networks due to a bug somewhere in the network stack. It's a hard-to-reproduce problem, but anyway...
8. The battery status is not calculated correctly. It stays in 100% for too long and starts dropping only after it's close to 80-70%. I believe it's a tradition of Nokia/Symbian phones to keep the level at 100% for longer than expected (so that the user believes the phone is good at battery consumption), but it makes far less sense with smartphones;
9. I don't have a straightforward way to reproduce it, but some received calls are not associated with the respective contact, even though the number is correctly assigned to it (instead, the number is displayed). I even merged the just received call to the contact but new calls were still displayed as the number instead of the proper contact name. It used to work, I don't know why it doesn't anymore.
Main feedback points:
1. There should be no delay when switching "desktops" (workspaces);
2. Some widgets on the homescreen are too small (e-mail, social). There should be an option for double-sized widgets;
3. When answering or making a call, there are too many notifications ("requested modified", "active diverts", etc). I can't make/answer a call and imediatelly put it on speaker due to these;
4.. There's an inconsistency on the way "popup menus" are handled: in some cases clicking outside of the menu closes it, in some other places I have to click on "cancel" (personally, I prefer to just click outside of the menu to close it);
5. If the phone is blocked, I can't answer a call and put it on the speaker. That's very annoying (and the fact that using mail-for-exchange forces me to enable phone blocking doesn't help);
6. The speaker is badly positioned: leaving the phone facing up (speaker is on the back) over a soft surface (e.g: a bed) will make it difficult to hear it.
7. The browser is very very very weak. It's far below the expectations of a smartphone browser these days (usability wise);
8. Skype (I know, I know, it's a third-party application) is very buggy (lots of problems: internet connection, rendering problems, sensors not working, etc).
That said, I still have faith in this phone. The hardware is great (camera, GPS, industrial design in general) but as usual the software is the bad guy. Hopefully the next updates will improve the usability and reliability of the phone.

3. I also add that it is bugged and often just kicks me out, some pages are impossible to open as it keeps on kicking me out!!! Does not support column view, makes it tedious to read! The solution for now is use Opera mobile.
8- Yes, also the bars are very confusing and do not correspond to the percentages. It could show 6 ou of 7 bars (almos full), but when you look up the percentage is shows 40%!!
9- This problem could come from the fact that the number is introduced twice in our contacts, search and make sure it is not duplicated.
Fed backs
2- most of all there should be some way to easily indicate that we have new mail!! Like it does for missed calls and messages.
3- I hate the Nokia prompts, I do not understand they keep them on new models!!! Ridiculous! Still we now have less and are faster to disappear than what it was on the N95
5- I have the same problem!!! How come it was overlooked. All calling functions should be available when a call is received!
6- Skype and other applications are bugged and do not work properly, the worst for Skype is that you cannot have it connect to Wifi unless you put wifi as principal connection, a tediuos procedure. But Panorama is developed by Nokia and you can find it in OVI store, complete **bleep**!!!
I also add that one cannot select several SMS and delete them, you have to delete all or do it one by one!! Ridiculous

Here is more on the email server:
Sorry to inform that the Nokia N8 email server is inefficient and full of bugs:
1- When you want to open an email, you often get the retrieve sign and this could take up to several minutes! You get it again every time you want to answer or forward an email!
2- Some times emails get stuck in the "outbox". When this happens you are in deep trouble as the only thing you can do is erase it and start all over as it does not allow you to open it (unable to open while sending message), unable to move it to another folder and send it again, unable to force send it!
3- I set push email off from 10:30 pm to 6:00 am, so normally after 6:00 am, I should automatically get my emails, however it does not until I play with the phone and sometimes even recycle it.
3- It does not offer the resend option and in one has to tap the screen several times in order to get the keyboard for editing purpose
4- Does not have a column/wrap view for reading.
5- On the POP enterprise emails, there the problem is huge! Mega bugs: in addition to the problems/inefficiencies mentioned above, it does not keep a copy of the sent email in the "sent" box! This one is always empty. Does not send a deleted message to the "deleted items" box, emails are just lost in nature! And a couple times, once I downloaded my emails into Outlook on my PC, my Nokia just emptied my Inbox after it synchronized.
WE NEED AN URGENT FIX, ESPETIALLY FOR THE POP EMAIL BUGS. Once all of the above is fixed, then the Nokia N8 email server will be the best in the market (except for setting up POP email compared to BB, but this is just a one time inconvenience...)
Apparently NO BODY IN NOKIA IS LISTENING!!!
