White Gridlines in MS Excel

Hello
One of our PowerrBook G4 Computer has a small problem.
In Excel all the gridlines are white. When I go to the settings, the color of the grid is set to automatic (Automactic is black). When I switch to the black, the grid is availible.
I need to switch the grid color from automatic to black for every new file. How can I solve this problem? I am sure it has something to do with some settings file of Microsoft but I have no Idea which while is responsible for this error.
Do someone has a solution?
Regards
Gérard

Perhaps you should try resetting Excel's preferences. Close all Microsoft Office applications.
Go to your Home Folder (the one with your name), then Library, then Preferences, then Microsoft:
Delete the file 'com.microsoft.Excel.prefs.plist' (a new one will be created next time you open Excel).
Open Excel again and reset your preferences: both the Excel Preferences as well as the toolbar preferences.
This should cure the problem.

I have tried Trim but its dos'nt works, because the values are already trimed.

  • White lines running through document

When I open .pdf documents from my insurance company using Adobe Reader, there are thin white gridlines that run through the entire document, cutting off text and making the document difficult to read. At first I thought it had something to do with how my insurance company created the .pdfs, but I have tried opening the same document via Foxit and I don't have the same issue as when using Adobe Reader. If I try printing the document, the lines remain and if I zoom in there is no change either (the lines stay proportional depending on how much you are zoomed in). I have gone through many of the preferences thinking that it might be a rendering issue, but with no luck. Anyone else have any ideas? I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Reader twice with no effect.

It is not an issue with reader, but of the pdf. Can you post it
somewhere for us to look at. If you have no other place you can use
    acrobat.com.

  • Cannot get grid to print on imported ms excel spreadsheet

    hi,
i've been through the knowledge base and such on this one and the help files that come with numbers and i can't seem to get the answer i'm looking for.
there have been a number of people on here who have said they can't get the grid to stop printing on an imported excel spreadsheet. i'm having just the opposite problem ——>> i want the grid to print on a spreadsheet from excel i've imported, but each time i print i waste paper because the grid i want on it never prints.
i have done extactly what the help instructions say: i have selected the table & sheet it is on in the sheet pane, gone to the view menu and done "Show Print View," opened the inspector and chosen the table inspector button, and clicked on the cell border button to show all the grid lines. each time i print, however, they still do not show.
this is on a black macbook intel core2 duo, 2.0 ghz, 2 gb RAM, 200 gb hd, mac os x 10.4.10 with all the latest update, security and otherwise, and an hp 2510 PSC ink jet printer.
if anyone could please help me out with this, it'd be most appreciated. i like numbers so far. but one of the easiest things about ms excel is going into page set-up and choosing to show the gridlines or not in printing — you'd think there would be an easy preference or inspector choice here also, but it is not at all apparent.

I believe you have too much RAM installed ( sorry just a little Numbers' humor).
I found if I have print gridlines set in Excel, then the same settings transfer to the Numbers' version. They are _very light_ though. Here is how I change border settings. Select the range of cells, set line type, then number of points and color:

  • Fix a color to a workbook

    Dear BEx experts!
I'm creating workbooks in BW 7.0 and I don't know how to fix the background color.  Let me explain myself.
I open BEx and assign a color to all the sheet.
I assign another color to the first five rows in order to write there the title of my workbook.
I then assign the query in one cell and when the variables are entered I see the query perfectly.
Now, if I decide to drilldown by one column (omit that column, and thus, the result query area becomes smaller) I see the white sheet of the excel instead of seeing the color I established to my workbook.  As well, if I change the variable values and the query has then less data, rows, the rows which were first colored appear now as normal excel.
Is there any way of fixing the color to the workbook?
I tryed assign it as default workbook, but the same thing happens.
Does anyone knows a way to do this?
    Thanks in advance.
    Kind regards
    Cecilia

    Hello Sagar!
Thanks for your info, but this doesn't resolve the problem.  I don't find the option you are saying "Adjust format after data refresh", since I am using BEx 7.0 it may be the reason, I believe this was for 3.5.  I have nevertheless an option "Apply Formating" that I had normally checked and hace unchecked it.
What happens now is that it mantains the format of the first execution of the query once you open the workbook, this is:
I open the workbook and select some values for the variables. I execute it and OK, I see fine the workbook.  Then, I change these values and the area of the query becomes smaller (less rows). Due to this, I don't see now the white rows of the normal excel sheet, but I see the borders and format of the first execution. This is, I see lines without data with the format of the query area.
It is a little difficult to explain, hope you have understood me....
Nevertheless thanks for your reply, and if you have any other idea please inform me.
    Still wondering about this.....
    Thanks in advance to all.

  • Cannot Get cfprint to print on custom media programmed in the print driver.

I setup a printer on the server and added custom paper sizes to the print preferences.  (i.e. 5.50 x 7.00)  I can print on these manually with no issues.  When I call the cfprint tag and reference paper="55by7" which is the name of the custom paper size, I get:
Invalid media or paper for the cfprint tag.
Error: Media 55by7 is not valid on ITPrinter. Available media are na-letter,na-legal,Oficio,folio,iso-a4,iso-b5,jis-b5,executive,iso-a5,iso-a6,monarch-enve lope,na-number-10-envelope,iso-designated-long,iso-c5,iso-c6,Postcard 4x6,tabloid,iso-a3,jis-b4,Automatic-Feeder,Manual-Envelope,top,bottom.
I verifiied the account that the coldfusion service is running as has full permissions to the printer.  If I change the paper to one on the list above it prints fine.  Suggestions?

  • Corrupt?? Preferences folders look like this: ¿íq$tøˇ'êí}ÿ@íq&–íq

while trying to correct other problems, I opened preferences folder and found many folders that looked like *¿íq$tøˇ‘êí}ÿ@íq&–íq.
    I assume they're corrupt...should I just trash them??
    Causes??

I've used preferences to show gridlines and trashed excel's plist and still my new sheets come up with cell borders (total sheet) ...Even after eliminating borders from a sheet, borders show up at odd times like when I paste into a cell....some of my old, seldom used sheets have borders scattered through out and seemingly random...others are totally bordered even though they originally had only gridlines.
This originally happened instantly...I think I might have hit an odd key combo while working in Excel, but I wonder why it would apply to every Excel workbook and sheet on my computer.

Hi, i'm new using numbers, and when I try to open a excel file don't let me do it, instead appears a box whit a error and close app,  any help?

    What does the error say?
A couple of thoughts: the file is corrupted or is password-protected. Corruption is more likely to cause Numbers to crash & Numbers cannot open password-protected Excel files. Try using one of the free Office clones & see what happens.

  • Displaying Excel Gridlines

    Hi,
I have Office 2004 installed on MacPro with Leopard 10.5.7
When I open a new Excel file and start using it, NO gridlines are displayed (the View Gridlines checkbox is checked).
I have to go to Excel->Preferences and change the Gridlines colour from Automatic to Black (even though the automatic colour is apparently black). Then I get Gridlines displayed in dotted black lines in the current sheet.
However, this will only be for the current sheet - I have to do this on all sheets and all Excel files to view gridlines.
    Doe anyone else get this?
Does anyone know how to resolve it? To get gridlines displayed automatically in black?
Perhaps changing the default colour of gridlines? how?
    Thanks,
    Richard

  • Numbers to Excel. Gridlines still printing after BORDERS cleared.

I prepared a document in Excel. I then worked on it in numbers. Everything was OK. When I opened it up in Excel as an XLS document I could not print without the gridlines. Researching it on the forums I noticed that I should clear borderes. That works when I am looking at it on the computer. No borders. However, when I try to print or do a print preview I see the gridlines. I am using Office 2010 for PC and the latest Numbers on my iPad and Mac.
    Thank

    Hi,
As per the description, I think the cause is most likely on the printer side, I would suggest you switch to different printer and see if issue persists.
Also, issue happens with 64-bit version of Office, probably an compatibility issue between the Printer driver and the 64 bit Office. Try to swatch to 32 bit of Office, then verify result.
As per Microsoft, they highly recommend 32 bit version of Office, as not all other products/drivers are compatibility with 64 bit of Office.

Are you meaning to have the gridlines not appear at all, or to turn them off once you open the worksheet in Excel?  To turn off gridlines once you've opened it in Excel, you can click on the "master cell" (this is the cell above and to the left of A1), then right-click and choose "format cells", then at the format cells menu choose "Border", then choose preset "none", click ok, and voila, all borders are removed...

  • Excel Gridlines

I want to export a report as a MS Excel 97-2000 (XLS) file, from InfoView, with gridlines. However, unlike the Excel export in CR, InfoView's does not have an option to display gridlines. How do I make this option available?
    Thanks,
    Arnel

    Amel,
You are exporting a report from Infoview to excel format and when you open it in excel there are no gridlines?  Can you please clarify the workflow to make sure I undserstand correctly?
The option to display gridlines is set in the actual crystal report.
    1.  Open the report from the designer
    2.  Select  FILE --> EXPORT  --> Report Export Options
    3.  Choose EXCEL and click OK
    4.  In the Dialog check the box reading "Show Gridlines"
    5.  Publish to Enterprise (unless you opened it from Enterprise)
The export settings are stored with the report at this point  and export to Excel format should include gridlines.
As a reminder,  the displaying of gridlines in excel is an option to the Excel program.  Make sure that is set.
