    Hi, I'm going to be switch from my PC to an Imac. I do alot of picture editing, just for fun for the most part. Right now I have Adobe photoshop elements 7, Printmaster, Picasa 3 that I use. What would you folks recommend? I would like to start to get a little more serious though. Would what comes standard in the Imac 21.5 be sufficient? Or should I have the aperture 3 installed.     Yep, Terrence hit it on the head, pretty much. Aperture is designed to be great with RAW files (which are basically the uncompressed data that your camera recorded the moment you clicked the shutter - as opposed to the compressed JPG files that most point-and-shoot digital cameras save). Aperture also lets you create very impressive custom books from the included templates. You also have a fairly robust layout program built in to the book editor, so you can use their templates as a starting point and customize them as much as you want. Aperture is also known for its good organizational features, which are handy for wrangling large sets of images.
    If none of that is critical to you, iPhoto should suit you just fine.

    I'm trying to find a place to make an itunes feature suuggestion to Apple, but all I seem to be able to find is a "request music" link...
    If this is the only place, then here is my suggestion...
    I am a video editor and I use itunes to play my music, but also to audition sound effects and production music tracks. But when I do a shuffle play of my entire library, I don't really want to hear these sfx and songs (or the audiobooks I've taken from an audiobook CDs).
    Therefore, I think it would be useful if there was some kind of "flag" that said "this is not a song" or "don't include in shuffle".
    Alternatively, what would be great for me, is if itunes could have multiple libraries, then I could have a normal music library, a sfx and production music library and an audiobook library.
    Anyway, I guess I can dream.

    The iTunes feedback is confusing indeed. I use the general Feedback page to report bugs and to do suggestions.
    They assure that the messages will be read, but you won't get a reply.
    As this is a user-to-user forum, it is highly unlikely your suggestions will be read by Apple employees (except moderators).
    You can exclude songs from shuffling by checking 'Skip when Shuffling' in the 'Options' tab of the Info window (Get Info of a song; shortcut: command-I)
    Unfortunately, you can only do this song by song.
    Using this script, you can enable/disable 'Skip when Shuffling' of all selected songs.
    You could put the songs/sfx in a playlist, select them all (command-A) and run the script.
    To run multiple libraries, you can choose between these two applications:
    iTunes Library Manager and Libra.
    Although not real instant switchable libraries, both apps. can create multiple 'iTunes Library' files, which enables you to have separate libraries for all kinds of files.

    Hi,
    My brother has tried to join Bt for his Broadband.
    He has however had a nightmare of a time.
    The router has according to one contact he spoke to been cancelled, and he told them he had not done so.
    That person said it would be reinstated.
    No joy.
    He was then told that the line was tagged by BT for his previous contract which was commercial as he was a councillor.
    The bottom line is he has made about twenty phone calls and gets no where.
    What's the best course of action for him to take.
    He has brought a new laptop and has given up with trying to sort it out with BT.
    He was taken through the agreement with Bt but it has led no where.

    if you cannot get anywhere with calls to sales to sort it out, maybe getting in touch with the mods can sort it out.
    Fill in this form; http://bt.custhelp.com/app/contact_email/c/4951 it can take 2 or3 days (plus its the weekend coming up) before the mods pick up on your message, but they will contact you direct via phone or email.

    Now, I am probably the only one here, who could easily translate your statements. I do not think that Babblefish has a Mississippian to English module. Being from Mississippi, that is the way that I speak. For me, English is a "second language."
    With the exception of "ya'll," I do not think that the great Eudora Welty could have done better.
    Now, I see similar to what you speak of. There have been Adobe folk drop in here. Back before, and immediately after, the changeover, they seemed to be here often. Now - well, less so, or as most of us can tell.
    I would only hope that the MOD's, who do show up here, and not just the ones who work this forum, do speak with Adobe. With the issues in the new forum, I would assume that communication is going both ways and at a good rate - say it's so Red Rider.
    Now, will any of us live to see a worthwhile change will remain to be seen. Changes have taken place, but it seems they are little and slow to come. Still, who knows what is in the works?
    Not being a programer, my issues with Jive are with the implementations that I see. I have no idea of the code behind it. I leave that to much more capable people. All I care about is the experience that I get from the Adobe fora. Right now, it is not that good, but then I am flexible, and have a few good years left. I'll wait, and hope that the changes come, and are significant.
    Keep the faith, and if necessary, I'll translate for others, following along at home for you...

  • Who can you contact concerning an issue besides the people you talk to on the phone?

    My issue is I ordered 5 iphones last month when the promotion was going on. I received one phone. Called them back and was told the other four were on back order. called again and now they tell me the payment wasn't received and I will have to pay for the phones since promotion is up. Who is higher up on the chain of command that I can get this resolved

        We would be delighted to clarify for you today eburns161! I do offer my apologies for the confusion. When it comes to promotions there are indeed a limited time opportunity. If payment did fail for the devices when payment was charged all promotional offerings are then voided if the promotion has expired.     I understand that Apple accounts for itunes can be combined by apple employees (as explained by a pervious topic.) However, the previous thread links to a dead support page. I have two apple accounts one I made before getting a .mac account and the .mac account itself. Any help would be appreciated

  • Erasing SDHC cards with Aperture 2.0

    I now notice that when I import photos from my 8 GB SDHC card, Aperture prompts me at the end of the import if I would like to erase the card before ejecting. I say yes and then after the card is ejected, I notice that images still remain on the card. How come?
    I have to use the special adapter where I place the SDHC card into and then into my USB port. Is that a possible reason?

    I have the same problem you describe with Aperture.
    iPhoto can erase images from my memory card, no problem.
    But aperture does not erase images even when I tell it to.
    So much for a "pro" app. Aperture is still buggy, it seems.
    It does not matter if you use the memory card in you camera or in a card reader. Same result. I have a Pentax K10D and format my memory cards in the camera.
    What bugs me the most is that this used to work nicely with the 1.5 version of Aperture.
    They have broken this with Aperture 2.0.
    Also, Aperture 2.0 does not auto-rotate images from my Pentax K10D
    iPhoto, however auto-rotates images from my camera. So much for a "pro" App.
    And Aperture 2.0 does not support tethered shooting with my Pentax K10D.
    With Aperture, I feel like a second-class citizen with my Pentax K10D.
    Seems like Apple only want to support Canon and Nikon SLR owners.
    I hope Apple fixes these bugs soon.
    Anyone know where I can send a bug rapport for Aperture to Apple?
    I really want these 3 things to work with Aperture and my Pentax K10D:
    1. Auto-rotation of images
    2. Erasing images from the memory card after import.
    3. Tethered shooting.

    I'll add my problem to this list as it sounds similar. First a little background. This is a problem I think we will see from a lot of long term users, so here is my story. When .Mac was first made available I signed up and was given a new apple ID [email protected] At this point I already had an Apple ID that I was using for just music purposes (apps didnt't exist yet) but was told by apple I would have to give it up. They could not merge IDs and would not change them. The end result was getting a new Apple ID and having to redownload all my purchased music over P2P or burn it and  re-rip to remove the DRM. Fast forward a bit to a time when Gmail is getting bigger. I'm invited to try it out and I decide that I'm going to stop paying $100 for email, as I never really used he other features iDisk, photo sharing etc, and syncing contacts, calendars and mail was just as easy through gmail. Now years later we have iCloud. I have to sign in with my outdated .mac ID, at this point I have for too many apps/music/shows to drop that ID. When I sign in with that .mac Apple ID I get the automated iCloud message telling me my new email address is [email protected] However when I go to send email from my iCloud account it is using .mac as the sending address and the mail will not go through. I can't change it in the mail app or in settings. I'm kind of at a loss as to where to go next. I'm stuck with a defunct email address as a username that is more or less a key to thousands of dollars worth of content, and a new email address that won't function and nobody at Apple can press the right buttons to help clean it up. Some kind of system should be in place to change a user ID. Maybe once a year or once every other year. **** at this point I would even pay a one time fee just for my user name to be rid of that old .mac extension.

    I had a similar experience with mac e-mail where apparently someones ICLOUD id for their Iphone was created with an Alias I had @mac.com for years.  Originally thought the mail was phishing and deleted without opening - then received forwarded mail from the other persons non-apple account - so gave feedback through mail to apple and also sent an email to the other persons non-apple account from a non-apple account telling them I was getting their mail because it was my alias.    
    That person did get apple to untangle the accounts so I did have to reset my password once it was done.
    So one option would be to contact apple support to get them to find out what is going on with your account.
    E-mail contact of the other person was easy once I had a legit account to send to -- don't know how you would contact the other person in notes.

    You can turn that feature off in Settings>Mail, contacts, calendars>Contacts>Show in App Switcher>Recents>Off.

  • Will Apple help us with ATT rate hikes? Who do I contact?

    Just a few months ago - and at the time I entered into my 2 year contract - unlimited textings was avaialble for less that 5 dollars more. But that is now gone and what has taken its place is just Dick Channey crazy!
    Wasnt the whole point of APPLE insisting that phone plans all come with unlimited internet so that this would encourage the owners to fully integrate the iphone in to their daily lives? Does having huge rate increases in texting help that cause ?
    MY QUESTION TO APPLE and its user forums - WHO do I contact at apple or at ATT for help on this issue??

    I do understand the nature of big business and partnerships etc.
    I do understand that Apple would like to not be involved in disputes between ATT and its customers.
    I GET THAT. But can Apple help me anyway just for the reason that I WANT TO KEEP MY IPHONE?!?!?
    ATT has implemented monsterous rate hikes and LIMITATIONS on package combinations so that iphone users will pay as much or more for Texting than they do for unlimited internet.
    We had to live with unlimited internet not including unlimited texting. OK fine, thats how it was when we signed up and you have to take it or leave it. But now with the new changes in rates - here is what the iphone user has as their options.
    200 included texts for free
    or
    $5 - get 200 more - 400 texts total
    or
    THE NEXT OPTION - $20 MORE, for not unlimited but 1500 texts.
    Does having to keep an eye on your text totals or paying at least $85 / month sound like the vision that apple wanted for the iphone users?
    if it doesnt, WILL YOU HELP US?

    I have been with ATT since Cingular and I've had internet,text and MMS combo packages for some time now; that Includes shopping around for the right phone and plans combo. And I know for a fact that there were MANY combos of unlimited and they were FAR from 50 bucks.
    There certainly might be a webpage or two with some ancient pricing plans offered. And I am sure that any one of those would be superceeded by another new price offer on the same plan.
    so I didnt forget that; I knew it to be not on point.

    I will try to make a long story at least somewhat shorter.Comcast customer for 20 years (yes - literally 20 uninterrupted years). 8 years of service at current address.Several months ago I restructure my bill - all my promotions etc had run out and I wanted to reduce my bill.  Ended up being told my customer support that I could save money by getting the "Triple Play" (I've NEVER had comcast phone service, I have my own VOIP phone solution).  They told me I didn't have to "use" the phone, just getting it hooked up would save me money.  Fine.Internet service was not supposed to have been touched / changed at all. A few days after making these changes, a large box from Comcast shows up at the house.  It has TWO cable modems in the box.  Not sure why they sent them - I already had the latest cable modem (that was capable of supporting the phone service they needed to activate). Notified comcast about the shipment.  They said don't worry about it.  Okay, I left them in the box. Tech shows up at house while I'm working.  Wife called and I talked to tech. He said he just needed to get some "numbers" off the modem to activate the phone service (I'm in the IT industry - I will assume he wanted MAC / SN#'s).  I made sure he was making no changes to the modem itself - I've got my own home network setup.  The Comcast cable modem serves as a gateway and it's in bridged mode.  Always has been. I have my own router etc. So a week or so after that visit, the modem started losing connectivity.  It happens almost EVERY DAY and it's almost always in the later afternoon (5:30-7pm EST) and sometimes late at night.  When this happens, the ONLY way to get the connection back is to unplug modem power AND the coax cable input.  It will then restart the modem and it comes back.  Simply unplugging power and restarting will not do it. After multiple hours spent with support on the phone (we activated the newest modem they sent - same issue.  Activated the other modem they sent - same issue.  In fact they weren't able to put one of them in bridged mode at all). They said a tech needed to come out. Tech comes out - checks the feed to the house.  Said there is a lot of noise in the lines.  (Please note that there is one main comcast feed to my house - it splits outside (in the comcast locked box) into two feeds which enter the house. One feed splits and runs the upstairs TV's (Digital Adapters) and the downstairs STB / DVR.  The other feed goes DIRECTLY to my cable modem. I ran those feeds myself when I moved in this house.  Never had an issue before. Cable TV never has issue - only internet.   So the tech replaced some ends on the upstairs line (Cable TV - he said that signal noise could cause issues with the internet).  I then helped the tech run a BRAND NEW line from the split at the comcast box, directly to the modem.  He said the signal / noise looked much better. Next day - same ISSUE - modem dropped connection.  Pull power and coax cable, reseat, modem restarts, signal comes back. I called support again.  They gave me an incident #.  Said they would have a "Crew supervisor" contact me, since it's obvious the problem lies outside of my home. A tech called and left a voice mail on my phone (was working when it came in, couldn't answer).  They did not leave a call back number. Called support again.  They told me a tech would call me back and was advised to leave a call back number.  That was MONDAY of last week.  Haven't heard anything.  The contact # is my cell...no missed calls. Is there another number I can call or email address so I can escalate this issue?  Having to disconnect / reconnect the modem EVERY DAY at least once is getting tiresome.   I'm in the Richmond Virginia area if it matters at all. Thanks.
