Why can I not open Yahoo Mail in Firefox but can in IE?

I have recently updated my Firefox to 5.0. Now I cannot open my Yahoo mail box. The landing page downloads and I can see my email title, but when I click to open the email the link is dead. None of the features on the Yahoo mail page works.
Everything works fine on Internet Explorer.

go to Help Menu -> select "Restart with Add-ons Disabled"
Check if it works without Add-ons.
Firefox will close then it will open up with just basic Firefox. You can enable the Add-ons later. Check and tell if its working.

• Can access Yahoo, but can't open Yahoo Mail in Firefox. Can on Internet explorer.

Can access Yahoo, but Can't open Yahoo Mail in Firefox. Can open Yahoo Mail on Internet Explorer. Checked Password.

PROBLEM: This is the error I get when I simply try to open an email in Firefox. File not found Firefox can't find the file at http://us.mg1.mail.yahoo.com/dc/blank.html?bn=555&.intl=us&.lang=en-US. * Check the file name for capitalization or other typing errors. * Check to see if the file was moved, renamed or deleted.
POSSIBLE SOLUTION:
I contacted Yahoo and they had me clear (1) cookies and (2) cache. This did work so that I can now open the emails in Firefox.
COMMENTS:
Yahoo support said "Please rest assured that Yahoo! Mail is properly working as of this time. It would be best if you contact Mozilla Firefox help support. They have the right tools and knowledge with the settings to access Internet Sites like Yahoo! Mail on Mozilla Firefox browser."
I'd like to know what to do to prevent this in the future because I've had this issue twice now in the last few weeks.

• Can't open AOL Mail with Firefox, but can open AOL website. Have to use Internet Exp. to get into mail. Help!

Have always been able to get into AOL Mail, until recently; last 2 - 3 days. Can get into AOL website, just not mail. No problem with any other websites. Have to get to mail using Internet Explorer, and I hate Internet Exp. What has happened and how do I fix it? I tried reloading Mozilla Firefox, but that did not help.

Hi--I tried your suggestion and no dice. A window came up with the following:The item 'Firefox.exe' that has this shortcut will no longer work properly. Do you want to delete?
Another window said 'C:Program files (x86) Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe' specified in the target box is not valid. Make sure the path and file name are correct.
I have no clue as to what that means. I did delete the shortcut.
Finally went into our Kaspersky virus protection and found Firefox is in quarantine and that is probably why I am unable to uninstall and reinstall.
Any ideas????
Thanks, Ginny

• Why can't I open yahoo mail with safari?

As of July 29 I can no longer open Yahoo mail in Safari. It keeps asking for user name and password, but when I enter it the same screen keeps coming up.

Clear Safari, then close it completely and reset the iPad.
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear Cookies and Data.
Now close Safari. In order to close apps in iOS 7, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

Is anyone else having these, or similar problems. i cannot log-in to my yahoo.com or onto gmail. The issue started yesterday.
The message states that it cannot secure the
connection.
Any suggestions?
I downloaded Netscape to be able to log-in into my accounts.
What a pain. I am using 10.3.9, and all was fine
thanks,
victoria

This just happened to me. Apparently yahoo mail just implemented something.. Check out this message from yahoo mail.
=================
Sorry, Yahoo! Mail Beta does not support your browser.
You can either download a compatible browser or proceed to the original Yahoo! Mail.
If you want to use the Yahoo! Mail Beta...
You can download any of the supported browsers for free by clicking the links below:
Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher (for Windows)
Firefox 1.5 or higher (for Mac and Windows)
SeaMonkey 1.0.8 or higher (for Mac and Windows)
To proceed to original Yahoo! Mail...
Simply follow the link below. If you sign in later with a supported browser, you will automatically be taken to Yahoo! Mail Beta.
Proceed directly to the original Yahoo! Mail
I use 10.3.9 and I have no idea why yahoo mail stopped working today. I have firefox installed on my machine. BTW - firefox is able to serf the web without issues on all of my sites. I often wonder why apple wanted to build a browser, why not just use firefox and contribute to it's development for the mac environment?

• I cannot open Yahoo Mail in Firefox - It works just fine with all other browsers

When I try to open Yahoo Mail in Firefox, it times out.
This happens every single day.
Every once in awhile I get lucky and get in, but again, I have to deal with this issue every single day.
Yes, I've dumped the cookies and Cache
Yes, I've switched to No Proxy
Yes, I go through straight links and not bookmarks
Nothing helps.
Basically, if I want to get into Yahoo Mail, I have to open Google Chrome. Which has me thinking, if I have to open Google Chrome so often, why don't I just switch?
I'm a long time user of Firefox and would prefer to stick with it, but this is the kind of thing that will push me over to using Google Chrome.
Anyone have any other suggestions?

You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History > Show All History" or "View > Sidebar > History") or via the about:permissions page.
Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions, so be cautious and if you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.
You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of the involved files.
It doesn't have any lasting effect, so if you revisit such a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

• Can not send e-mails from account but can receive

I have my e-mail account with ATT Yahoo.
I received an account verification notice yesterday from ATT and I responded and they said I was verified.
However after I did that I could not send e-mails from my Imac desktop but I am receiving them.
I spend 4 and a half hours, yes 41/2 hours with both Apple Care and ATT and they could not correct the problem. Both discussions were with upper tier support personnel.
Here are some facts that make this an odd issue:
(1)
I have other e-mail boxes from ATT and they can send and receive e-mails.
(2)
MY laptop can still send and receive e-mails from the e-mail account that is only receiving with my Imac.
(3)
All the settings are exactly the same and both Apple Care and ATT checked them.
Is there anybody out there that may have an answer ?
Both Apple Care and ATT blamed each other.
My concern is that today I received another e-mail trying to verify my e-mail address for another e-mail address from ATT.
I called ATT and they did not know why, I DID NOT open it up and trashed it.
ATT has put a filter on my other e-mail accounts and hopefully that will end any problems with them.
The account that has the issue is my main account and I cannot trust leaving it and am trying to avoid having to change it.

Hi Rachel, For what it will be worth, I was like a dog with a bone about this, so I decided to give it another go. I have success on both boxes. Here is what I did, I warn you now it was a lengthy process. Before you begin download all the upgrade steps from X.5.0 to X.5.6 as single stages ( for me the combo's did not work) and have them ready to use.
1st Backup all your mail to CD/DVD not on the box. Check for any unsent mails anywhere in the box and then throw out all of the mail bits that are anywhere on the system in any folder. 2nd Install & Archive, 3rd Start up from Install DVD and check/set permissions, reboot. Enter all your ISP details to mail, see if you can send a mail to yourself. If not dump all the mail you tried and the .plists, reboot and install next update in the series, enter all details as before, try and send etc. If this fails dump again and reboot install next update etc.
I started at X.5.1 and got to vX.5.4 before I got a result in that sys asked me if this server will do, I said yes and I got mail out. The server name was different that was offered but when all was over it showed as the correct one that it should be on port 995. I must add that I had the spinning cog wheel for quite some minutes before anything happened. I continued on this way for the rest of the updates. 1x1 until v.6 was reached. That was only on the G4, I now had to do it all again on the MacPro. This one was not so co-operative in that I had to do it twice, but now it also has Mail running. It is funny though that I had to reach X.5.4 on both machines before it came right. On the G4 I was using a retail disc and on the Intel the supplied for discs.
Others on here may have a better and quicker way, but for me this did work. I am sure that there is a problem in either the mail app itself or the production of the Master DVD's.
Whatever, good luck.

• Why don't I see the 'Emoticons' and 'Format' tabs when composing a message in the new Yahoo Mail, using Firefox, but I do when using Internet Explorer?

I have been using the new Yahoo Mail on Firefox. But today I noticed that when I write an email (Compose/Reply/Forward), I cannot format it. Only the 'Attachments' tab is present, but the 'Emoticons' and 'Format' tabs are not.
But when I do it using Internet Explorer, all those tabs are present and I can format and do whatever.
Is there something wrong with my Firefox? I have restarted my computer, I have shut it down, but my Yahoo Mail remains problematic when using Firefox.

Firefox only allows you to save executable files. If you want to add an option to run them you can use the OpenDownload² add-on - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/opendownload-10902

• When using Yahoo Mail in Firefox, I can't copy and paste pictures from a third-party host. I can do this in MSIE 8.

I'm accustomed to copying pictures that I placed on a third-party host (Photobucket or Multiply) and pasting them into the body of a Yahoo Mail message. I can't do that on Firefox. When I click "Paste," nothing happens.

I can read most articles in yahoo but every time I try to check my e-mail (or anybody tries to check theirs) we get the same message "The requested URL not found" I am very disappointed because I am forced to use explorer to check my e-mail and I have not used explorer for years because I don't trust it. • 12/6/2011: I can get into my Yahoo Mail main page but am unable to see the full page, and, am not able to get to my mail at all. Yahoo works if I use MS IE. This just started yesterday; Firefox / Yahoo worked fine for at least 4 +/- years.

Firefox and Yahoo suddenly, for me, stopped working insofar as being able to open my mail.
I removed Firefox from my system and re-loaded it. Same problem.

Hmmmm, http://www.seattlepi.com/ loads fine hear in 10.4.11, FF 3.6.8, but I do see it uses some kind of Flash.
The last really supported Flash for PPC was 10.1.102.64, but if it's for like Facebook or such, people have been fooling FB to think they have a leter version installed.

(If you are running a PPC Mac with Flash Player 10.1.102.64 and are having problems with watching videos on FaceBook or other sites, contributor Texas Mac Man suggests the following solution which fools the site into thinking that you are running the latest version:)
Download this http://www.steelbin.com/FPforFBPPC.zip to your desktop, unzip it, and replace the current Flash Player plug-in which is in your main/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, (not the user Library). Save the old one just in case this one doesn't work.
You should also consider the Shockwave Player, which displays Web content that has been created by Adobe Director, much used for multimedia: For PPC Macs: http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/
