Why can I receive iMessages sent to my phone number on my macbook but not my iPad?

Why can I receive iMessages sent to my phone number on my macbook but not my iPad?
My iPhone phone number appeared as a recipient option on my mac as soon as I launched Messages on my iPhone but not on the iPad and I can't find a way to add it.

You do not have an app but you can setup your iMessage on the iPhone and switch it on (as it is since you receive messages on the iPhone).
In the same setup screen under iMessage you should have send receipt, send as SMS and also Send and Receive   howmanyadress  >  Click on here and you will enter a new screen.
On top there should be you Apple ID and under your phone number. Under the phone number you can add some Mail adress to be used for iMessage. I believe it is important ot have the Apple ID on the top of this screen  and at least one Apple Mail checked as to be used for iMessage.
This should be enought to get iMessage both on iPhone and Mac.
Try this and let iCloud to sync for few minutes and you should have the data on the Mac too.

  • IPad 2 stopped receiving iMessages sent to my phone number

I have an iPad 2 and an iPhone 4S. When I got the iPad, I was able to sync it with my iPhone just fine. It was sending and receiving iMessages that were directed to my iPhone phone number, and the messages on the two devices were syncing perfectly, all the time.
Then about a week ago, my iPad stopped receiving iMessages that were sent to my iPhone. When I look at the iMessage settings on the iPad, my phone number is no longer listed under the "send and receive" area.
The only troubleshooting I have tried so far is turning iMessage off and then back on on the iPad, and rebooting it. That hasn't worked...any other suggestions?

I would sign out of iMessage on your iPad and make sure its signed back in with the same apple id that you are using on your iPhone, if still does not show on iPad try doing the same steps on the iPhone. • IMessage sent to verizon phone number not received

My friend has a Verizon iPhone 4S and an iPad.
She has her phone # and email address associated with iMessage on both the iPhone and the iPad.
As of today, iMessages sent to her phone number  (for example, from my AT&T iPhone 5 and everyone else) never appear on her iPhone.
These iMessages, however, do appear in "Messages" on the iPad.
iMessages sent to the e-mail address do appear on both the iPhone and iPad!
This is really bad, as she is not getting any iMessages sent to the phone number on the iPhone  ( that is any text message from anyone on the iMessage network).
Any ideas? This is so bizarre. I can imagine an iMessage getting lost, but why would it just not appear on one device...

SIgned out ALL devices of iMessage
Sent text message to the iPhone - it showed up as a regular green text message as expected
Signed devices back in , starting with the iPhone
Back at the same situation. iPhone not getting iMessages that are sent to the phone #.
I wonder if there is some problem in the IMessage world.

  • If I travel outside the US with an unlocked iphone and use a local SIM will I still receive iMessages sent to my US number when wifi is activated?

If I travel outside the US with an unlocked iphone and use a local SIM will I still receive iMessages sent to my US number when wifi is activated?

Ok, one of my problems is that when I arrive it will take me a few weeks to get a social security number and only t-mobile will give me a sim without a ssn - but edge for a few weeks will be better than no iPhone.
Unless someone out there can suggest an alternative?

  • Why is my Apple id working on my MacBook but not my iPad?

Why is my Apple id working on my MacBook but not my iPad? I can log in o.k. on my MacBook, but using the same user name and password on my iPad, I just get the Incorrect Apple ID or Password message.
on my iPad, I have used the Forgotten Apple ID or Password link and reset the password. Even after I get the successfully reset password message it still gives me the Incorrect Apple ID or Password message!
In desperation I have restored the iPad to Factory settings. It appears to be running OS 7. something.
    My Macbook is running 10.8.5.
    But the same problme persists.
    Please help

I am having the same problem. Works fine on the website but telling me it's incorrect on my iPhone

  • Why can I receive iMessages but not send them?

I'm signed into Apple ID for iMessages and have both wifi and cellular data available but I can't send iMessages! I'm receiving them but can only respond by text. FaceTime is also working!

Macrumors posted a solution for this.  I used it and it seems to have worked for me.
    Here's what they said:
    1. Turn off iMessage in Settings > Messages
    2. Reset networking settings in Settings > General > Reset
    3. Reenable iMessage in Settings > Messages

  • My daughter can read my iMessages sent to her phone

I've been trying to figure out how to get my messages off of her iPhone. She updated her iPhone with the newest software, 6.1.3 and accidentally added my number/ account to her phone when asked about accounts so now she is able to read imessages sent to me from other people on her phone. How do I remove this from her phone?

Eric Ross is partly right you need to seperate apple id's but you need to go to setting> message> send and recieve at> tap on the apple id and sign out and then sign in with her own apple id

  • How can I get iMessage to recognize my phone number AND my email address?

I used to get imessages using my phone number.  Then my iphone screen broke and I ended up buying a new one.  Now when I restored my iphone, the imessaging only recognizes my email address (the one connected to my apple id) and not the phone number.  The phone number shows up as a lighter type font and can not be selected.  I made sure this number is part of my apple ID but that did not help. I have deleted and restored the account twice.
The imessage is working but only using the email address.
    Ideas?
    Jennifer

the link Ckuan put up helped me resolve this. thank you.
i signed out of both imessage and facetime on my computer and iphone. (i actually wasnt signed into my account on my iphone)
but i did sign in on my iphone
i then made sure that my tel number was the only button ticked
then once that was sorted i went back to my computer and signed in to both imessage and facetime and my number was now an option.
i made sure it was ticked and all was ok.
i think my problem occured from when i done a "reset all settings" ... i only done this reset because my keypad on my iphone was sticking and that was a solution to sorting that.
    thanks again

  • Can I use iMessage with my old phone number?

Just moved overseas, got a new local phone number here in Australia. I'll be here for a year, so I left my US phone number active. I was hoping I could use iMessage to still text with folks back home via my old number, but once I activated the AUS phone number it automatically switched the phone number associated with iMessage on my computer over to the new AUS number. Is there any way to switch it back to my old American number, or otherwise add it to my iMessage?

    Hi,
If you add the Apple ID to both iPhones then the Mac version of the App should get the Pop ups to say that an iPhone is using it's Number and the Apple ID
By Accepting the Pop up it should add the iPhone Number to the list of "Receive At" IDs and numbers plus add it to the "Start Conversations From" drop down.

  • Can remotely close Safari tabs on Macbook but not iPhone/iPad.

I am unable to remotely close iCloud Safari tabs on my mobile devices. iPhone and iPad are running iOS 8, and my Macbook Pro is running Yosemite. I can remotely close tabs from my Macbook, but when I try to swipe to delete iCloud tabs from my iPhone or iPad, I swipe, the red delete button shows up, but then I tap delete and nothing happens - the tab stays there and is still open on the original device.

I have been experiencing the exact same problems. Any help is appreciated!

  • Why can't I use my Japanese cell phone number as C...

It seems that I cannot set a +81 (Japan) number as my Skype caller ID. What I don't understand is why this is the case, especially since over a hundred other countries are supported.
Caller ID is just a piece of metadata transmitted during call setup. What is so special about a number starting with 81? Does anyone have any insight as to the underlying reason?
[Please, Skype, don't respond saying it isn't supported. I know that. I would simply like to know the reason why your Japanese customers receive an inferior service.]

Thanks for your quick feedback Winston, appreciate that.  I had a further search for solutions and it would appear that someone called AndrewSawczyn has provided a workaround on another post called "Re: Apple ID and Primary Email Addresses are locked and cannot be edited."  This has worked for me.

  • Why can't I get help from you people? Thunderbird is installed, but not working.

I carefully followed the directions for installing Thunderbird. I am running WinXP pro. Thunderbird is there but not functioning. I am 78 years old and I need help from you re: install. I am not going to pay $$$$$to get a computer tech to come to my home and install Thunderbird. I had no trouble installing Firefox, but Thunderbird is an absolute drongo. Please call me at xxx-xxx-xxxx or email me a number to call. I need human help. PLEASE! Thunderbird just sits there but gets no mail.
    Regards, Sara

This appears to be your first post here and you have not provided much detail to work with. This is the Thunderbird support forum. No one is going to call or email you other than the spammers that get your info that you posted in a public forum.

  • Why can I get several HD channels in HD on my rooftop antenna, but the not on Fios?

Why can I get several HD channels in HD on my rooftop antenna, but not on Fios?
E.g. WABC, WNBC, WLIW and WNET come in at least 4 HD channels via my rooftop antenna but only one WLIW (non-HD) on Fios.
    Bummer.
I can switch from the RF to HDMI sources but I thought with all of the channels I could at least get the ones I watch.
I'm located in Northern NJ USA, about 10 miles (line of sight) from NYC.

I assume you get the NJ versions of those channels?
Networks pay for exclusive programming rights within specific markets. Cable operators are only allowed to offer a specific set of local channels within their designated media market (DMA).  If you aren't considered to be in the NYC market, then you aren't supposed to receive those channels.
Like many in the DC area, I can pickup the Baltimore locals with an antenna, but I as I live in the DC DMA, those are the only channels I receive from Verizon, Comcast, DirecTV, etc.  Note there are circumstances where a customer might fall between two markets, living in an area with overlapping DMAs; in that case, the provider can choose to offer two different sets of locals.  Verizon FiOS does do that in some areas.

  • How do I get messages sent to my phone number sent to my iPad

I used to recive iMessages sent to my phone number to my iPad, I got a new phone and I no longer receive them to my iPad. How can I receive iMessages sent to my iPad again.

On your devices check Settings/Messages/Send & Receive to ensure the "reached at" addresses are the same. I would also set the "new conversation" option to the same address on both devices as well unless you specifically want to keep them separated.
