Why did i think otherwise!

so though im not a huge sports fan (bt should spend its money on better films and arts stuff imo) but i would love to sit down and watch some premier league stuff!
so i sit down today to watch the FREE bt sport for exsisting customers thats been advertised and of course it wasnt that simple. i thought a retune might be in order but i did not realise it would be such a pain to get bt sport.
first its advertised as free,  false, id need to get infinity to get bt sport which would cost me quite alot of money. second, id need to get a viewing card of £10 to watch it on my old btvision box?  i just got the youview box not long ago(well it seemes not long ago), which is great, but now it stops me from watching bt sport!  FAIL  im not gonna get rid of youview.
so the free bt sport which ive seen advertised is not free for me, and is unwatchable on my current bt equiptment, plus i found theyd sneeked a 3 pound a month unlimited ring back on my phone bill, somethin i never asked for since we never have out telephone pluggeed in!!!
a afew months back i got a letter saying i could get a free infinity upgrade, which apparently expired, doh.
bt is one car crash after another.
to add, i can watch bt sport on the app or online!  what is the point! something i suppose but i d rather watch it on the tele like most people.
someone might enlighten me if there really is a way to get bt sport for free on my you view box?  ive been pretty naive about this bt sport thing.

yes i know that i need infinity on youview to watch btsport, but i do not need infinity, and cannot afford infinity, therefore it is not free to watch bt sport for existing subscribers!!  (except to watch on my computer online, which is silly as my vision tv service is already online!)
let me make it clear to you again, i cannot afford infinity, therefore i cannot watch btsport!!
now i dont know if you work for bt or something, but ive found over the last few years that bt have consistently hidden charges in my bill, or given me blurb that tricks me into thinking things, and its taken a lot of digging to work out what there packages actually mean, bt sport is no different!
even today ive found a hidden £3 monthly chardge for infinte call back on my telephone bill, that came from nowhere!
i always feel bts selling strategy is just to trick people into adding things onto bills or misselling you things thinking youre getting something else, its liek there saying, oh werre wernt lying, we just didnt tell you the whole truth!
btw colin, that isnt the way its is, getting ripped off by a huge company like bt , hiding charges in bills most people never find out about is morally disgusting, advertising semi truths then misselling them to people is abhorant, posting here might just make othe rpeople aware, so eff you for telling me thats the way it is, posting here is the best way to change things, sucks bts ass if you want, but they would rather **bleep** all over you than pay for the service.

  • Why oh why did developers think it's okay to automatically check AND gray out "form history" in clear recent history??

For years I have been using clear recent history to quickly clear cookies and cache only. I had already unchecked the things I did NOT want cleared in options. But the new update automatically re-checked everything to be cleared! I did not realize this until too late, now ALL of my autocompletes are GONE! Updates should improve the function of the browser NOT change personal settings! Plus they changed options so the place to uncheck what is to be cleared is hidden and painstakingly time-consuming to find. Please do not pull this kind of "improvement" in the future, leave personal setting alone!!!!! you just ruined my night.

    kaeandcolesmon,
If you open the recovery drive (partition) it should only have a single folder (Recovery).
To make sure that your not saving restore points to that drive.
    See:
Start, Control Panel, System, System Protection tab. Make sure the D drive partition is set to OFF so that it does not save there.

  • Why did Skype think it a good idea to get rid of Skype for Windows?

I now have a useless application and an ugly window for desktop skype with a hulking advert at the top of it. It's hard to work with and clunky in general. What gave Microsoft/Skype the thought that forcing users to change would be a good idea? It really isn't it's a terrible idea!

i'm concerned this change is to allow MS to market things to me better (I don't have a problem with that) but i'm wondering if they are in bed with the NSA to give the US gov access to any friends I have, what we say to each other, and if i'm pissed about something they (NSA) don't like. I'm looking at ooVoo as an alternative to Skype because of the encryption seems to be better and I can't find anything about ooVoo going to bed with the NSA. so far, ooVoo doesn't have the ability to change caller id, like Skype does to my cell phone. I'm wanting out of skype

  • Why did Apple stop creating Apple 1

I am just curious to know why did you stop creating Apple I?

Please do not get offended by my answer.
Why did you think Ford stopped the popular Model T ?
Maybe they moved on and build a better product ?  Think about it.

  • Why the heck  did Apples think it had  to change everything around in iTunes. If it's not broke, don't fix it. Can't find anything now.

Why the heck did Apples  think that they had to revamp everything in  Itunes.
What was on the left is now on the right side.  It wasn't broken, why did you have to fix it? Where is Home share hidden?

Show side bar.  Now that's better, thx.

  • Why did Word on Office 2013 REMOVE Auto Correct from Right-Click Context Menu??

    Hi Microsoft -
I normally don't rant, but this is a killer feature removal, and the reason given is for aesthetics - 'Removal of clutter" is how it's worded here:
    [Changes in Office 2013]
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc178954(en-us).aspx
I copy n pasted below the operative row from the linked TechNet page as to the reason WHY this critical (and very popular feature) has been removed from Microsoft Office 2013 Word's context-menu: LESS CLUTTER
And your answer is ambiguous and doesn't solve the issue that you created to make things prettier: "Click the AutoCorrect Options button" Then what?  ADD EACH WORD MANUALLY?
Please advise ALL OF US that want this feature back how to have our commonly misspelled words fixed and added automatically to the dictionary.  If I am missing this in a major way somehow, I apologize completely and will issue a public apology via any
social media platform of your choice.  If it really is gone, and I have to manually add the entries into a buried table 6-clicks deep, then I will issue a public excoriation of this feature on as many social platforms of my choice.
    Sincerely,
    Maximus Mednick

    Modifying the feature
Auto-Correct and certain formatting tools are no longer available from the spelling error context menu.
To make Word 2013 cleaner and less cluttered, we removed AutoCorrect and certain formatting tools from the spelling error context menu. The features are still available in Word 2013 through other entry points within the Word user interface.
Less clutter in the spelling error context menu. This enables users to find popular commands more quickly. In addition, the spelling error context menu now fits better on the screen.
To change AutoCorrect options, do the following:
Choose File -> Options -> Proofing
    Choose the AutoCorrect Options button.

    Thanks, MAXIMUS

Microsoft used to be about allowing users to customize the OS and apps however they want. This was one reason I have always preferred Windows over Mac. There are 5 ways to do any one thing, and you can customize it to do it however you want. It's all about
user choice. Please don't go the way of Apple and force users into the way that you *think* we should do things.
    <rant>
While I whole heartedly agree with this suggestion, if you look through this blog about the design decisions that went into the 2007 ribbon:
Jensen Harris: An Office User Interface Blog -
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/jensenh/archive/2008/03/12/table-of-contents.aspx
You'll see that one of the considerations of the ribbon was to ELIMINATE/REDUCE customization because it was costing large corporate customers too much time/money to support their users with 2003 customized menu/toolbars.  In other words, the ribbon
was intentionally built as a fixed design so that average user cannot change it.  The QAT was an afterthought, a sop, to allow users minimal customization.
They found that the 2007 lock down was too much of a "good thing", too much like the good old "IBM 360 green screen" (even if most people don't recognize the reference), so in 2010 they
re-introduced limited Ribbon customization within the UI.
But you still can't customize the default tabs. And to add injury to insult, if you do want to customize a default tab and go to the effort of trying to recreate the default tabs and groups
within the Ribbon UI, you'll eventually find that YOU CAN'T'! There is no way inside the UI to force the buttons to layout the same way! AHHH!
    Even in 2007,
EXPERTS have had the option of creating custom Ribbons/tabs by editing XML, but that is pretty serious programming, out of scope for 99% of users.
The "solution" to the problem was too simple. Just add an option to allow users to turn on the old menu UI.  Even if it had been buried as a registry hack, the people who really wanted it would have learned about it. Then MS could have collected statistics
on usage that would have "proved" that the menu was preferred over the ribbon.  The thing is, if the ribbon was defaulted "out of the box", over time people would eventually all switch over to it. Simply because it was the default, because MS only produced
new training material referring for the ribbon
Now, I'll concede that the ribbon really may be more "intuitive", but only for new users. For long time users the change is very jarring.
They made the same choice with Windows 8.  In the last Windows 8 consumer Preview there was a registry hack to bypass the Start Screen.  I learned about it in July or August. But MS was so sure the Start screen/metro was the only way to go they
rushed out a Windows Update to eliminate that registry entry. And it was eliminated from the RTM version.
    WHY?
Why did they remove the user's right to chose the UI that worked best for them? I don't know.
</end rant>  sorry, this is a hot button for me.

  • When I downloaded Mozilla Firefox 4.0 Beta 10 I lost all my Bookmarks. I went back to using the older version and get the message that it is no longer supported or covered by virus protection. Why did I lose my Bookmarks?

Why did I lose my Bookmarks?

    Clarification:
I believe now you potentially lose all extensions, plug-ins when you use the new reset function, but you will let me know.
If that is the case, your find corrupt file method maybe better. However, I reviewed the two help articles and there appear to be more files than just the delete search.json file and a possible search.sqlite file in the Firefox Profile Folder. I am confused. Then I have to find the folders. I think help articles mentioned how to find the profile containing the files, but not sure.

  • Why Did My iMac Hard Drive FAIL?

I am majorly upset right now.
My iMac 2009, 21.5"  (4GB Ram, 500GB Hard drive) computer that was practically unused since it was in storage for 2 years in my basement while I went out of town on business- suddenly had a Hard Drive Failure for no reason! Since the Warranty was expired on Apple Care, I took it in a Mac store - only to be told by the repair man that the hard drive needed a replacement. He did quick testing, and these were the results:
    Ran MRI and everything passed
    Reset pram and SMC
    Ran storage diagnostics
    Proposed Resolution: Replace hard drive
Total cost: A WHOPPING $229.00 plus tax for the hard drive plus labor costs. When I asked if I could just upgrade to a 1TB Hard drive since I was shelling out money anyways, Apple flat-out REFUSED- saying they couldn't put a warranty on a new hard drive, just the replaced one. Sounds like complete BS to me!
Further more, I would like to know how the **** this happened! A few times when the iMac was on the table and running, I lifted it up and clunked it back down a bit rough to readjust it- but it continued to work for a few more days. I doubt that would ruin a hard drive. I own a Macbook 13" that I clunk around all the time, the hard drive has never failed. Suddenly my hardly-used iMac that worked out the box when I first started using it again suddenly has a random hard drive malfunction a week in??? And now I'm out $250.00. I just feel jipped. I thought Apple products are meant to last. Apparently not. The guy said "Well it's a four year-old computer". Yeah but I only used it one year and then it was in storage! So whose to say THIS hard drive won't fail as well?
    Why did this happen?

Hard Drive Warning (all makes and models)
Ironically but logical, new hard drives are far more fragile than one that has been working for several months or a couple years. So beware in your thinking that a new hard drive translates into “extremely reliable”!
Hard drives suffer from high rates of what has been termed "infant mortality". Essentially this means new drives have their highest likelihood of failing in the first few months of usage. This is because of very minor manufacturing defects or HD platter balancing, or head and armature geometry being less than perfect; and this is not immediately obvious and can quickly manifest itself once the drive is put to work.
Hard drives that survive the first few months of use without failing are likely to remain healthy for a number of years.
Generally HD are highly prone to death or corruption for a few months, then work fine for a few years, then spike in mortality starting at 3-4 years and certainly should be considered end-of-life at 5-7+ years even if still working well. Drives written to once and stored away have the highest risk of data corruption due to not being read/written to on a regular basis. Rotate older working HD into low-risk use.
The implication of this is that you should not trust a new hard drive completely (really never completely!) until it has been working perfectly for several months.
Given the second law of thermodynamics, any and all current mfg. HD will, under perfect storage conditions tend themselves to depolarization and a point will be reached, even if the HD mechanism is perfect, that the ferromagnetic read/write surface of the platter inside the HD will entropy to the point of no viable return for data extraction. HD life varies, but barring mechanical failure, 3-8 years typically.
Data redundancy (copies) makes all HD crashes inconsequential, an irrelevancy.
There are only two kinds of hard drives, those that have failed, and those that will fail, regardless of quality of manufacture.
Any Macbook or desktop should be idealized as a working platform computer system, containing all your applications, documents, and weekly-use necessary files; and all media files such as ‘big-data’ (music/PDF collections/video/pictures), unless directly needed in the near future, should be kept off the computer and on external storage USB or likewise bare hard drives.
Never consider any computer a data storage device at any time under any circumstance, rather a data creation, sending, and manipulation device. Anyone who thinks data is safe on any computer, even copied upon multiple partitions is making a mistake that will, without fail, strike.
Never backup your data exclusively upon magnetic hard drives or flash storage, nor consider same since magnetic storage degrades over time, roughly 3-8 years, even under ideal storage conditions.

  • Where can I find the plugins folder when I have opened PSE13? I miss it in this version! If so why did Adobe removed it? Then this version has no use to me.

I just purchased PSE13 and after installing I noticed that I can't find my plugins  while I could easily open it in my PSE11. Why did Adobe removed it???  If so I think I will install PSE11 again.
Kind-a weird that this version doesn't have a plugin-use anymore.

I have Windows 7 Professional X86 and I also noticed that PSE13 was installed in my  'normal' program files folder instead of the X86 program files folder. PSE11 used the X86 programfiles folder. I dunno why though!

i have a problem: every time when i want to download free apple applications in the apple store, apple store asks me which type of credit card i want to use. Why did it ask this question?

If you are within 14 days of purchase you can still return the iPhone and get the phone that suits your needs, however, I think you will find that no matter which phone you get the content provider will want to know how you are going to pay for future purchases. For Android phones it is Google, and they will certainly want to know.

  • Why did my iPhone photos get deleted and can I recover them?

An entire album's worth of photos were deleted and I want to know why and if I can recover them.
I have an iPhone 4S on iOS 6, iTunes 10, PC user.  Under "photo albums" I created a new album called "job photos" which I've been moving photos to as needed.  Today I took a bunch of picutures at work with my iPhone, and before I got to my computer I moved them over from the "camera roll" to the "job photos" album, then deleted the originals in "camera roll".  Everything worked fine until I synced the phone to iTunes.
Up until today I've been syncing a folder on my PC with a bunch of photos to my iPhone.  In order to save space on the phone I unchecked the "sync" box to stop syncing those photos.  After the phone was done syncing not only was my PC album gone but all the photos in my "job photos" album were gone too.  ***?
Why did this happen and is there a way to recover the photos I just lost?  My iPhone wasn't backed up so I wouldn't be able to do a backup recovery.  Please help.

You lost the photos because the actual data is in Camera Roll.  When you see pix in albums, it is by virtue of pointers to the actual storage in Camera Roll.  Otherwise, you would be using up storage by creating albums.  SO, do not delete from Camera Roll until you have copied to your PC.

  • Why did ps touch does not show saved project and my old project disappear?

Why did ps touch (ipad 4) does not show saved project and my old project disappear?

    OldGhias,
Have you found a solution yet? I don’t know if I will be of any help but I was curious and no one else has chimed in yet.
I don’t quite understand all of your statement.
To clarify, you were making SimpleSave backups from Win95 and cannot see them all on the Win7 laptop?
    Or
You were copying files over (SimpleSave utility not used) and you cannot see those files on Win7 but you can on the Win95 machine?
Do you have another Win7 machine you could connect the external to, to see if the files are still not showing (one that is not locked for work)?
On the drive that shows full, can you see it in Disk Management showing the correct size of the drive and also another CD drive? Not your real CD/DVD drive, it’s actually a CD emulator that is attached to the HDD for encrypting the backups and all SimpleSave’s have them.
Lastly, did you reformat the SimpleSave drive to Fat32 first?
My understanding is that USB support was quite limited on Win95 machines. Since Win95 is Fat32 and the SimpleSave drive is by default NTFS, I would think it would not work.

  • Why did my iPod die?

My iPod had the red "x" on the display window when I plugged it in to my computer one day. It was working fine five minutes earlier. When I plugged it in my computer said that the iPod was corrupt. I called Support and they said that there was a hardware failure and they needed to send me a new one.
Why did this happen? How can I prevent this? The only thing I can think of is my roommate uses my charger and computer to charge his iPod. Could that have anything to do with it?

The only thing I can think of is my roommate uses my charger and computer to charge his iPod. Could that have anything to do with it?
I don't see how that would be the cause.
Sometimes, things just break or are defective from the factory. That's why Apple has a one-year warranty.
If the iPod is a classic (an iPod with a hard drive inside), don't handle or carry it in a way that causes excessive +bumping around+ of the iPod.

  • Why did they take away the "Open In New Tab"option in Top Sites, Bookmarks, and History?

Why did they take away the "Open In New Tab"option in Top Sites, Bookmarks, and History? This very annoying.

Seriously - what could they have possibly been thinking? Mozilla, please tell us this was some kind of mistake. Accessing our bookmarks in FF-mobile is just plain bad as a user experience. And now without "Open In New Tab" we are supposed to drill down to our bookmarks for every tab we want to open? FF-mobile is almost useless without "Open In New Tab". Please restore "Open In New Tab" for bookmarks, thanks.

  • Why did my library duplicate itself and how do I remove it?

Why did my library duplicate itself and how do i remove them?

An iTunes manual? It is supposed to be so intuitive you don't need a manual.
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/how-to/
Most people don't have issues, but most people posting here do, obviously, why else would they come?
With regards to the way iTunes works (when it is working as it is supposed to) if you use the software the way the designers expected you to it all works out OK. The problems start with those of us who think things should work slightly differently and get then confused with the results. At that point you either have to learn to work the way the program expects you to, or work around it. I encourage people to do work with it, as is easier, but in practice I write scripts to enforce my will on iTunes.
