Why do events noy stay in the calendar

I put in a vacation week in june and when I went back to that month it's no longer there.

There seems to be a problem that affects some users of 10.2.2.12 which is resolved in a new build 10.2.2.14 available from http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ - note you need to fetch this manually, Apple Software Update won't detect it as a new version.
Once you have upgraded you can turn off the option to Keep iTunes Media folder organised and then turn it back on again to fix any remaining problem files.

Firefox jumps from tab group to tab group when tab is closed. Why? It should stay in the same tab group.
Is it bug? In any case it is very inconvenient.

Ahh. Thanks. That seems like a bit of a hassle though. If I were to create more tabs in the group, would I have to re-bookmark all the tabs?
I would really love it if I could just pull them in and out of the tab group screen :)
    Thanks for your help!

Open the Security pane of System Preferences and set it to require a password to unlock each secure pane. This is designed to stop people using the computer from changing the settings and won't do anything if an issue on the computer itself causes the change.

  • IS there a solution to the issue of recurring events that disappear from the calendar?

I just went back to my 2013 calendar entries to retrieve information so I can bill a client, and one of my work-related calendars is all messed up. The information logged on one of my recurring events is either 1) no long recorded or 2) it has shifted from Friday/Saturday to Saturday/Sunday. In any case, I cannot accurately bill my time until the calendar is made whole again.
Can the information be restored through Time Machine? If so, how do I find the correct file? Should I upgrade to Mavericks? What can I do to fix this?

Thank you for that I have been using a similar site http://ipinfo.info/netrenderer/ but yours seems much better - at least my website http://www.thelittlethings.info seems to be working okay now.

  • Why does my Mac stay on the white screen when I turn it on?

Why does my Mac stay on white screen when I turn it on?

Take each of these steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
The first step in dealing with a boot failure is to secure your data. If you want to preserve the contents of the startup drive, and you don't already have at least one current backup, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else. It may or may not be possible. If you don't care about the data that has changed since your last backup, you can skip this step.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to boot. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
         a. Boot into the Recovery partition, or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) When the OS X Utilities screen appears, launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in this support article, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.”
    b. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, boot the non-working Mac in target disk mode. Use the working Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
    c. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.
    Step 2
Sometimes a boot failure can be resolved by resetting the NVRAM.
    Step 3
If there's a built-in optical drive, a disc may be stuck in it. Follow these instructions to eject it.
    Step 4
Press and hold the power button until the power shuts off. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed to boot, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Use a different keyboard and/or mouse, if those devices are wired. If you can boot now, one of the devices you disconnected, or a combination of them, is causing the problem. Finding out which one is a process of elimination.
If you've booted from an external storage device, make sure that your internal boot volume is selected in the Startup Disk pane of System Preferences.
    Step 5
Boot in safe mode. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
When you boot in safe mode, it's normal to see a dark gray progress bar on a light gray background. If the progress bar gets stuck for more than a few minutes, or if the system shuts down automatically while the progress bar is displayed, your boot volume is corrupt and the drive is probably malfunctioning. In that case, go to Step 6.
If you can boot and log in now, empty the Trash, and then open the Finder Info window on your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) Check that you have at least 9 GB of available space, as shown in the window. If you don't, copy as many files as necessary to another volume (not another folder on the same volume) and delete the originals. Deletion isn't complete until you empty the Trash again. Do this until the available space is more than 9 GB. Then reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)
If the boot process hangs again, the problem is likely caused by a third-party system modification that you installed. Post for further instructions.
    Step 6
Launch Disk Utility in Recovery mode (see Step 1.) Select your startup volume, then run Repair Disk. If any problems are found, repeat until clear. If Disk Utility reports that the volume can't be repaired, the drive has malfunctioned and should be replaced. You might choose to tolerate one such malfunction in the life of the drive. In that case, erase the volume and restore from a backup. If the same thing ever happens again, replace the drive immediately.
This is one of the rare situations in which you should also run Repair Permissions, ignoring the false warnings it may produce. Look for the line "Permissions repair complete" at the end of the output. Then reboot as usual.
    Step 7
Reinstall the OS. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade.
    Step 8
Repeat Step 6, but this time erase the boot volume in Disk Utility before installing. The system should automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant. Follow the prompts to transfer your data from a Time Machine or other backup.
    Step 9
This step applies only to older Macs (not current models) that have a logic-board ("PRAM") battery. Both desktop and portable Macs used to have such a battery. The logic-board battery, if there is one, is separate from the main battery of a portable. A dead logic-board battery can cause a boot failure. Typically the failure will be preceded by loss of the settings for the startup disk and system clock. See the user manual for replacement instructions. You may have to take the machine to a service provider to have the battery replaced.
    Step 10
If you get this far, you're probably dealing with a hardware fault. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider.

  • Why does my iMac stay in the year 2009

I have an iMac that consistently shows the year 2009 in the calendar and mail.  I've gone through two OS upgrades, but the problem persists.  It's stuck there. If I add a new iCal item it shows up on the 2013 calendar, but I cannot add dates for 2014.  It always shows 2009 in the Item Inspector entry year.  I cannot organize mail my the year because everything is posted as 2009.  Any suggestions?

To determine if you are seeing incorrect dates or times because of a custom date or time format:
    Open System Preferences.
From the View menu, choose Language & Text (Mac OS X v10.6 or later), or International (Mac OS X v10.5).
    Click the Formats tab.
Choose your desired region from the Region pop-up menu (any region other than Custom).
Quit the application where you were seeing incorrect dates or times displayed.
Open the application again, and verify that the dates and times are now displayed correctly.

  • Why doesn't my iPhone update the calendar in my MacBook Pro?

I keep my calendar in my iPhone, but that calendar doesn't transfer to the calendar in my MacBook.  It used to happen automatically, but it doesn't any more.

    Hello Wepoccnr,
If you are not seeing your calendars syncing up and you are using iCloud, take a look at the articles below to sort it out. Make sure to look at what your default calendar is so that way when creating new calendars that it is going to iCloud and not a different calendar that you may also be syncing with. Another option is to sign out on both devices, keep the data and then sign back in to get it to sync back up.

  • Why is there no answers to the calendar and contact sync issues

I have searched and can find questions everywhere but no resolutions.  Since upgrading to 5.1 and Itunes 10 I can nolonger sync contacts and calendars.  Any Ideas?

Look at your contacts on the phone.
Tap the Groups button in the upper left corner.
You will see all of the sources for the contacts on your phone. "From My PC" is the one that syncs with Outlook via iTunes.
Are the contacts you created on the phone in that group? If not, they won't sync with the PC. They'll sync with whatever service they're listed under. (iCloud, for example)
Same goes for calendars and Notes.

  • Why won't finder stay in the Dock ?

Finder is always open on my desktop. I can "Hide" it, but it re-appears as soon as I do anything. It won't quit. I have gone to Activity Monitor, found it and Force Quit. It immediately appears again. Ideas ?

OK, that's pretty strange, I think we have a deeper problem.
Does CMD + w not work also?
Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), use Disk Utility from there to Repair Permissions, test if things work OK in Safe Mode.
Then move these files to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.sidebarlists.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.recentitems.plist
Try closing that window in Safe Mode.
    Reboot & test.

  • Why does my mac stay on the pin wheel screen when I try to shut down

When I try to close my iMac down, the screen goes blank except for a spinning pin wheel. This does this for a while and I then have to turn it off manually. It doesn't do it every day but will if I've used Photoshop that day. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

The spinning wheel indicates something is still running. This can be caused by many things and it can be difficult to troubleshoot what is causing your spinning wheel, in order to get some ideas you may want to read over:
