Why do I get this message "A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete. Script: js/ff_browser:204"

I am using a laptop, OS = Vista Home Premium. The message occurs often when I have my browser open, it will occur whether or not I'm working on my laptop.

Get this error when attempting to clear cache and cookies - why?

This can be caused by clearing the cookies via [[Clear Recent History]].<br />
You can try to exclude the cookies to see if that helps.
You can let all cookies expire when you close Firefox to remove unwanted cookies and keep the ones with an allow exception.
    * Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Keep until": "I close Firefox"
If you use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the cookies when you close Firefox then Firefox also tries to clear the cookies from plugins like Flash and starts a plugin-container process with the Flash player and possibly other plugins as well for each cookie, so that can add extra time if there are a lot of cookies to remove.

  • The update could not be verified. It may have been corrupted during downloading. The update will be downloaded and checked again the next time that Software Update runs.

How can I solve this? Every time I have the option to update an application I receive the same notification: "The update could not be verified. It may have been corrupted during downloading. The update will be downloaded and checked again the next time that Software Update runs"

Can we eliminate one minor possibility: are you in the UK and using Virgin Media cable connection? I ask because the latest 'Superhub' firmware is corrupting large downloads for some people.

  • Latest update returns error " None of the selected updates could be installed. The update could not be expanded, and may have been corrupted during downloading. The update will be downloaded and checked again the next time that Software Update runs."

This saves you from any "box model math". Keep in mind, if you add any side padding or border to the div itself, it will be added to the width you define to create the *total* width. You may also choose to remove the padding on the element in the div and place a second div within it with no width and the padding necessary for your design. 2) No margin has been given to the columns since they are all floated. If you must add margin, avoid placing it on the side you're floating toward (for example: a right margin on a div set to float right). Many times, padding can be used instead. For divs where this rule must be broken, you should add a "display:inline" declaration to the div's rule to tame a bug where some versions of Internet Explorer double the margin. 3) Since classes can be used multiple times in a document (and an element can also have multiple classes applied), the columns have been assigned class names instead of IDs. For example, two sidebar divs could be stacked if necessary. These can very easily be changed to IDs if that's your preference, as long as you'll only be using them once per document. 4) If you prefer your nav on the right instead of the left, simply float these columns the opposite direction (all right instead of all left) and they'll render in reverse order. There's no need to move the divs around in the HTML source. */ .sidebar1 { float: left; width: 20%; background: #93A5C4; padding-bottom: 10px; } .content { padding: 10px 0; width: 80%; float: left; } /* ~~ This grouped selector gives the lists in the .content area space ~~ */ .content ul, .content ol { padding: 0 15px 15px 40px; /* this padding mirrors the right padding in the headings and paragraph rule above. • Why am I getting this - pages "No such file or directory"?

After building a Pages doc with images and type, the file got pretty big - about 445mb.  Nearing completion, I started getting the error "The document “document name” could not be saved. No such file or directory."  Have I exceeded the file size limit?  Are there permissions issues going on?  I tried saving it to both the desktop and locally in other places, to our XServe and to our promise raid.  No luck.  I tried changing the file name in a "Save As" with no luck.  Got the same message.  I can edit, add and paste items from the doc as well as export it to a PDF or a .doc, but can't save it as a pages document.  What might be the probelm?
    Thanks.

  • Why do I get a message that says something is preventing firefox to update correctly when I have the latest version and it is up to date.

Every now and then I will come back to my computer and see a message saying that something is preventing Firefox from updating correctly, am I sure that I have got the latest version.
Included in the message box is a link to www.firefox.com, when I click on the link I get a page with various downloads and a message saying that my Firefox is up to date.

This issue can be caused by the presence of leftover files in the Firefox program folder (defaults\pref) like a file firefox.js that overrides the update URL with a wrong link.
Do a clean reinstall and be sure to remove the Firefox program folder to remove the file(s) that cause the problem.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • Bookmark restore problem: " A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete. script: resource://gre/modules/PlacesUtils.jsm:1436"

I'm trying to restore bookmarks from a .json file (as xmarks keeps duplicating and corrupting my list) and Firefox often works really slowly also. I know this as I ususally get a script message errors and option to continue or stop.. In this case with restoring bookmarks everytime I try to restore with my saved .json file I get an interruption, and the message " A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete. script: resource://gre/modules/PlacesUtils.jsm:1436" i stop the script (if i continue the same warning comes up) and then get half of my bookmarks restored or similar only if that, and another message telling me FF is unable to process the bookmarks!? I think this unresponsive script is the one that randomly comes up when I'm working FF hard, and causes it to run slowly- or it is a very similar looking message. Any comments and ideas appreciated .
    Running on Macbook pro 2GHz Intel Core 2Duo, 2Gb 667 Mhz DDR2 OS 10.6.8

One other thing....the same script error on Ubuntu Linux 11.10 on my old Dell. And it seems that the backup I thought I had made probably was saved incorrectly, again only half of the bookmarks I had sorted out were created in the file- i should have exported a copy as another safeguard!

The most likely cause is a problem with Java on your system - older and/or messed up Java installations seems to cause this issue sometimes.
    To fix:
Step 1: Try installing latest Java version. Check your Firefox/system browser plugins from this page, and install latest version: [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/ Mozilla Plugin Check Page] (also works for most other browsers)
If latest Java (currently "Java(TM) Platform SE 6 U20 - Next Generation Java Plug-in 1.6.0_20 for Mozilla browsers") does not fix the problem, you may have more versions installed on your system causing problems for each other. This leads us to -
Step 2: Uninstall those you can from Control Panel -> Add/Remove programs. To make sure it is properly cleaned out, see [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/forum/1/595817#threadId608043 these excellent tips from noah_sumo] to clean out Java completely, then install latest version again from the [http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp Java.com download page].
If you ''still'' get this error, you may have Norton or another security program which can also in some cases cause this issue. That takes us to:
Step 3: Configure security program correctly.
For Norton 360 see [[Configuring Norton 360]].
For Norton Internet Security, see [[Configuring Norton Internet Security]].
For other firewall programs, see [[Firewalls]].
If none of these steps solves the problem, please provide any detail you can think of that may be related and let us know, and we will try to find other solutions to get this solved.

See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]

I am not an IT expert, however I've read similar posts online and tried lots of the suggested steps such as:
    - deleting browsing history and cookies
    - resetting Mozilla to factory settings
    - uninstalling and re-installing Mozilla
