Why does Logic truncate file names#097864

Question

This is really messed up....first logic truncates the name of the file, then it can't remember where that file goes because it changed the name of it...whats up?
same thing happens with bounces too....
they start out like this..

they end up like this...
final master stereo mix B with#097685

Well, it is not really regardless of the history of code because Logic is adopting and adapting right now. Obviously, taking on the new Apple look, feel, etc and extending it's support on the OS X platform for the future (changing frameworks) it is really not terribly difficult to limit the length of what is in the field, but if you include all the code to do it it just makes it buggier to deal with presently and in the future.
Keeping with the frameworks, much of the code is already written-especially for a save dialogue so it is less work writing the app to just implement the frameworks you are using and instead of writing every exception in to it just move ahead programming the app as it is not it's designed to limit to 31 charachters but is not fully implemented. I think it is just as a timesaver, like if you have a certain piano sampler instrument for a song why remap all the samples to a new instrument if you are going to use it in another song-even if you only use the first 3 layers. It is basically a case of not working backwards or sideways IMO. The programmers know the destination but the code cannot simply be switched to the new frameworks/functions overnight error free. It really takes alot of work, some apps are really easy but Logic is a very deep app and it is in a very large transition right now-it also has very deep roots and some very old code. I think many people aren't aware of the amount of time, money, and resources it takes to develop apps of this scale. What is important is that the frameworks and systems used to devlop apps on OS X and because it is Apple, with all the resouces users and sister pro apps that once Logic is at that point keeping it stable and future compatible should be very easy (relatively)-which means a better app and faster development once the transition is taken care of.
