Why does Mac Firefox 4 randomly try to load incompatible addons?

About once a week, I start up Firefox 4 (Mac) and it tries to load incompatible and disabled addons. Buttons are placed differently. The tabs are current, but the extensions that are trying to load have been disabled since I upgraded from Firefox 3.6.16.
It's as though Firefox is reading that it's 3.6.16 still and trying to load the extensions that were active before the upgrade.
At first I thought this was due to an improper shutdown of the application, but I haven't used a force-quit and it still occurs.
Any help appreciated.
How much time are you giving it? Because when the EXS loads an instrument it has never loaded before, it can take a minute or so to search your hard drives, for the location of the samples associated with that instrument. Once that connection is made though, the instrument will load quickly from that point on.
Or is this happening with sounds you've loaded before?
The only other time I've seen the EXS "hang", is when it is searching for samples that are no longer on your hard drive. This can take a minute maybe more, but then you should see a prompt telling you that it can't find the samples.

If it works in Safe Mode and in normal mode with all extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) disabled then try to find which extension is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.

Why does Mac OX 10.6.8 keep making copies of a file anytime I download, copy, or move a file? It will copy, dowload or move the file, then begin making copies until I reboot. This makes it impossible to deal wit hfiles unless I want to spend a lot of time rebooting after every time, then deleting all the redundant copies.
If I understand what you are saying this is very strange. Sure you tried Reparing Permissions and all that. Also sure you're aware that when moving a file from the hard disk to an external - the default is to make a copy rather than a move. If the movement is with the same disk (e.g. hard disk - hard disk) the Default is a Move rather than Copy.
Anyway try this: Move a file between location where you would normally have this problem while holding the Command Key (which triggers a Move rather than a Copy). I would also try quickly setting up a New User Account and see if the problem is present within this New Account. This may provide a clue as to what is happening.
Also, what browser are you using when the download problem happens? -
