Hello. I am using MacBook Air. Safari is very slow and it doesn't open many websites. for instance: dizi-mag.com . please help me
Please answer as many of the following questions as you can. You may already have answered some of them.
1. Have you restarted your router and broadband modem since you first noticed the problem? If the answer is no, do that now and see whether there's any change.
2. Are any other web browsers installed, and are they also slow?
3. What about other Internet applications, such as iTunes and the App Store?
4. Are there any other devices on the same network that can browse the Web, and are they also slow?
5. If you can test Safari on another network, is it slow there too?
6. If you connect to your router with Wi-Fi and you can also connect with Ethernet, do that and turn off Wi-Fi. Any difference?

I am looking at buying a MacBook Air over the Pro mainly for the 12 hour battery. Just wondering if battery is compromised by upgrading to 8mb and upgrading to I7 Intel dual core. I am not very tech savvy so apologies if dumb question
If both computers were configured identically, then they would both lose the same amount of battery life with respect to the same starting configuration - comparing apple to apples. I don't know how much the added RAM, etc. would reduce battery life, but it would be less for both models.
Battery life is a tricky subject because most mfgr.s like to suggest as long a life as possible, but often do so under a set of conditions that are not common to most users. Apple is no different. Their computers do have good battery life, however. But not likely as long as what is in the ads for the typical user. -
Just brought home newly purchased MacBook Pro 15"/Maverick/Retinal Display. To my astonishment, there is NO DVD slot! No one in the store told me about this missing feature. Intolerable, How does one install software? Insert CDs to copy for iTunes?Do I have to purchase an external DVD drive? Is one even available? What a crock!
I’ve owned Macs since 1990 (IICX my first), mostly desktops. Having had DVD/CD drives in all my previous laptop Macs since 2001 - (2) G4 Powerbooks, A 17” Mac Book Pro - and also inspecting a friend’s year-old Mac Book Pro which had the DVD slot - unless someone told me at purchase, I had no reason to know that the Retina display version of the 15” had NO DVD drive. ANYHOW, I fully intended to buy the non-Retina display version, because it was cheaper. Unfortunately by the time I got to the Apple store they were no longer selling the non-Retina display version; all versions were ONLY with the Retina display. And the fine distinction of a DVD vs. a non-DVD drive was not pointed out. So now I have to shell out an additional $80 bucks for an external SuperDrive.

I have been trying to update my software in my macbook pro, but every time I go through the motions of updating/restarting my computer nothing happens and it still shows I need a software update. Anyone know why this is happening?
How large is your HD and how much space do you have left?
Check out the following & do the necessary:
Disconnect all devices from the computer then do the following:
Boot up from your Snow Leopard Install DVD while holding down the "c" key.
Select the language you wish to use, and then choose "Disk Utility" from the menu bar.
Your HD should appear in a panel on the left hand side of the window which opens. Select it and then click on the "repair disk" button in the right hand section of the window.
Once this process has been completed restart your computer and repair permissions directly from Disk Utility.
Try SU again.
If Disk Utility is unable to complete the repair, you will need to use a stronger 3rd party utility like DiskWarrior, Techtool PRO (not Deluxe) or Drive Genius. -

Hi, My OS X is Leopard v10.5.8, w/Safari v5.0.6. I am considering downloading ClickToFlash 2.9.2 for general security reasons. I’m assuming this a good fit, being that Apple endorses this extension on their site. Does this mean i can download it w/out having to worry about any conflicts?,.. that its coming from a safe source, etc? Does it have any downsides? Is it easy to install?, ..or uninstall if i dont like it?
ALSO~ I’m assuming i dont need ClickToPlugin, because when on internet i always have “Enable Plugins” ~ DISABLED.

The reason for my concern is that Adobe no longer offers FP updates for my OS [10.5.8],not even archived. So my original question probably should have read~ When visiting a web site does Flash automatically load onto safari. If so, can using Click to Flash;... and NOT clicking to flash, prevent Flash from loading, and possibly carrying a "security threat" [virus?], into Safari or my Mac? 10.9 is free, so you could upgrade to that if you wished
if that's not an option for software compatibility reasons, you'd either need to re-install it from the original disks (that came with the computer, or a seperate iLife disc), a backup, or purchase a boxed version from someplace like eBay or Amazon (Amazon has iLife '11 for $39) -
I have a newer MacBook Pro with an AMD processor. It is my understanding that Parallels can only be used on Mac's with Intel Processors. Is that true and if so does anyone have recommendations about how to have a windows side to my Mac

Apple Computer has never used AMD processors in its products.
However, the Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) is a Radeon unit, which is an AMD subsidiary. Parallels, VMWare, VirtualBox will all work fine with the Intel Core i7 or i5 CPU that powers the Mac, and use the AMD Radeon GPU that drives the displays. -
I have a MacBook Air, which I just upgraded to OSX Lion. I also have the latest version of iTunes. When I try to stream to the AirPort, the Airport resets, and the wireless connection on the macbook locks up. Any suggestions where to start?
To free up hard drive space the best bet is to move data files that you don't need access to all the time. Likely candidates are music, video, and photos. Things like word processing and spreadsheet files can also be moved but they tend not to be very large and so don't free up much space. The problem with moving the above mentioned files is that iTunes and iPhoto need to know where the files are stored.
Here's an article explaining how to move the iTunes folder. You can move the iPhoto library using the Finder but there is a slight complication. Start iPhoto, open the Preferences and click on the Advanced tab. The first option is "Copy items to the iPhoto Library". If this option is checked, copy the iPhoto library to your external folder (drag it from the Pictures folder to your external drive) and then delete it from your Picture folder. If this option is not checked, it is a bit more complicated and we'll need to talk a bit. -
Everytime I open Safari on my MacBook Pro a pop-up window from my Finder menu, with the Applications highlighted on the left in the favorites column with the Resources folder highlighted comes up and locks my Safari page until I manually close the Resources window then I have to refresh the internet search address line at the top of Safari. Can someone tell me how to stop this. It started after a software upgrade. It didn’t do that before. Thank you.
A few thoughts for diagnosis/testing purposes:
Have you recently run the disk utility and repaired HD and permissions? If not do so.
Boot into the Safe mode - hold down shift key on boot - and see if the problems are still there. Some functions won't work but see if anything odd happens.
Check your startup items. Get rid of them temporarily.
Create a new user account and see if the problems occur with the new account.
Lastly, be sure your backup is up-to-date. -

To delete files from your external HDD, attach it to your MBP and drag the unwanted files to trash and then empty trash.
Then you select the files that you want to transfer by 'drag and drop' to the external HDD and trash the files on your MBP.

Does iWeb place a limit on size of jpeg that can be uploaded to server? I'm placing large mb jpeg files and they are showing up on web as kb files. My provider does not put any size limit on what I upload. Is it iWeb?
Here is the problem, I've done this, set the right settings in iWeb as indicated above and yet the images are still small images. Is there a cache in iWeb that may need to be cleaned out or a setting somewhere messing me up.
I normally put web size images however for this one album I need them to be full size.
Any other help full suggestions? I appreciate all your help. I'm guessing there is something simple I'm missing. -

Anyone have the problem I'm having with the Safari collecting cookies even when I'm not on a website? I cleaned everything out and checked several times. Each time cookies were added that I've never seen with my older version of Safari. I have the block third parties and advertisers but I don't think it works. Here's a sample of what is popping up: 247realmedia.com, 2mdn.net addthis.com, admeld.com, adsafeprotected.com, adsonar.com, bit.ly, bluekai.com, bluelithium.com, bluetoad.com bondware.com.......... over 100 things without a clue where they are coming from. Especially since I'm not on any webpage! How do I report a bug? Is there a way to fix this?
