Why few pages in JSP & few in OAF

Hi all,
Why are few modules developed in OAF (XMLs) and few modules developed in JSPs. Are these pages developed in JSPs also called OAF Screens ?
Why is this difference among the screens in the same application ? Is there any special reasons/advantages for few screens in JSPs ?
There is a OAF Dev Guide document, which helps in developing OAF screens, is there any other guide similar to that in help to develop/customize screens out of JSP.
Would appreciate if anyone could throw some light..

JTT/JTF frameworks were used by CRM modules (mainly sales and marketing) as that was the framework that was available to CRM dev teams, ERP teams on the other hand used OA, which was the FWK of their choice.
with CRM and ERP merging into EBiz, JTT/JTF was no longer being enhanced and most of the new pages were developed in OAF, that is the reason you would see a mix of both in a single module at times.
On how to personalize the jsp pages which are non-OA, i have tried to put the clarifications in this thread, there is no single way of doing so and would depend on varis factors.
Personalize JSP page
Thanks

  • Calling custom OAF page from JSP page in Oracle apps

    Hi,
    I am working on a requirement to call a Custom OAF page from a JSP page in Oracle apps 11.5.10.
    I have registered the OAF page and defined a function for it. When we call this OAF page from JSP (without parameter), the page opens up
    URL: http://APPSURL:8020/OA_HTML/RF.jsp?function_id=27221&resp_id=50312&resp_appl_id=515&security_group_id=0&lang_code=US
    but as soon as I am trying to pass a parameter sr_id in the URL:
    http://APPSURL:8020/OA_HTML/RF.jsp?function_id=27221&resp_id=50312&resp_appl_id=515&security_group_id=0&lang_code=US&sr_id=106
    we are getting following error:
    You are trying to access a page that is no longer active.
    - The referring page may have come from a previous session. Please select Home to proceed.
    Please let me know if someone has faced the same problem...
    Thanks!!!

    Hi,
    Before calling a OAF page..from external JSP page...u need to set certain mandatory parameter like transaction Id and context.

  • Navigate between pages in JSP

    i have multiple .jsp pages. in the sequence of
    login.jsp-->DiaryPages.jsp-- EITHER-Open.jsp OR read.jsp
    now what i get is i am able to go to "DiaryPages.jsp" from 'logIn.jsp" using <jsp:forward page = "DiaryPages.jsp"> but in "DiaryPages.jsp" when i use <jsp:forward page = "Open.jsp"> or <jsp:forward page = "Read.jsp"> to go to either of these pages ,depending upon a few conditions , i still get redirected back to log in page
    so forward tag is kinda working here like a toggle here between first two pages and it's completely ignoring the forward tag in the second file, what am i doing wrong here ? any help --------------Please

    One suggestion - consider using Struts framework. You can control the flow of the application from an XML configuration file and don't have to have such logic in the JSP itself.

  • Passing form data from html page to JSP page

    Hi,
    I have a simple HTML page with a form on it that sends the information to a JSP page that stores the form data in a JSP session. I created a simple form that asks for the user's name, sends it to the JSP page, stores that in a session, then sends it to another JSP page which displays the name. This worked fine.
    However, I added another input box to my form that asks for the user's age to do the same steps as outlined above. This does not work, and I'm not sure why. Here's the code from my HTML page:
    <form method=post action="savename.jsp">
    What's your name?
    <input type=text name=username size=20 />
    <p />
    What's your age?
    <input type=text name=age size=20 />
    <p />
    <input type=submit />Here's the code from my JSP page, savename.jsp (later on in the JSP page it links to another page, but that is not relevant):
    <%
    String name = request.getParameter("username");
    String age = request.getParamater("age");
    session.setAttribute("theName", name);
    session.setAttribute("theAge", age);
    %>Finally, here is the error message from Tomcat 6.0.9:

    Ummm.... you misspelled "parameter" the second time
    you tried to use it.......
    That is incredibly embarrassing. Sorry if I made anyone think it was something more serious. Holy mackerel, I think it's time for me to read over my code much more carefully before posting about a problem.

  • Why do we use jsp instead of servlet

    why do we use jsp instead of servlet

    Hi,
    I am and web/Java developer and have used a mixture of JSPs and servlets. I use JSPs for my actual web pages. Whether they are displaying dynamic database driven content or simple pages doing nothing but password protecting.
    I tend to separate other reusable code into servlets, like database connections and business logic.
    For example: I have worked on a mortgage site and there quite a lot that goes into calculating a monthly payment and ARP. These calculations will not change (only values I send to them will) therefore I do this type of coding in a servlet.
    Cheers

  • How can I create a Login-page with jsp???

    Hello,
    I have to create a page with JSP code on the Netweaver Developer Studio.
    But I do not know how I do it.
    Can anyone tell me what to write in the portalapp.xml?
    An example would be very helpful.
    Thank you
    Greetings

    As you can see in the example:
    The portalapp.xml file (deployment descriptor) provides configuration information for your application, and defines the components and services in your application. For each component and service, you specify the implementing Java class and configuration information.
    For more information on the format of the portalapp.xml, see Deployment Descriptor (portalapp.xml).
    <application>
        <application-config>
            <property name="SharingReference" value="com.sap.portal.navigation.service, com.sap.portal.navigation.api_mimeservice, com.sap.portal.navigation.helperservice"/>
            <property name="Vendor" value="MY_COMPANY"/>
            <property name="SecurityArea" value="PERMISSION"/>
        </application-config>
        <components>
            <component name="SimpleNavigationExample">
                <component-config>
                    <property name="ClassName" value="MY_CLASS"/>
                    <property name="SecurityZone" value="no_safety"/>
                </component-config>
                <component-profile/>
            </component>
        </components>
        <services/>
    </application>
    You can only update in this example, your class name and other details:
    <property name="Vendor" value="sap.com"/>
    <property name="SecurityArea" value="MyCompany"/>
    <property name="ClassName" value="LOGINCLASS"/>
    <property name="SecurityZone" value="no_safety"/>
    Modify this portalapp.xml file as follows:
           1.      NAVIGATION SERVICE, so you must add references to the following portal applications that define these services:
            com.sap.portal.navigation.service
            com.sap.portal.navigation.api_mimeservice
            com.sap.portal.navigation.helperservice
           2.      In the <application-config> section, create the following properties that help to define the security zone for all components and services in this application:
    ○     Vendor: String identifying the company or organization that provided the application, for example, sap.com.
    ○     SecurityArea: String identifying the security area for the application, for example, NetWeaver.portal.
           3.      In the <component-config> section for the mySiteMap component, create the property SecurityZone to define the specific security zone for the component.

  • Redirect a page with JSP

    Hi there,
    How do you redirect a page using JSP. For example I create a login screen and once a user click on the login button it goes to validate page and validate the userID and password. If the userID and password is correct I want to redirect to the application else redirect to a Fail login screen.
    Thanks in advance with any help.
    Nite()

    Hi Slag,
    Thanks for your help, it work. Now another problem is I am trying to write a code that validate the password and it didn't check the request.getParameter. Here are the following code:
    <% if (request.getParameter("password") == null) { %>
    <jsp:forward page="LoginFailed.jsp" />
    <% } else { %>
    <%@ include file="untitled1.jsp" %>
    <%
    %>
    If I run the response page(current page) it work, it actually see it null and populate the LoginFailed.jsp page, but when I run the login page and it didn't check against the statement.
    Thanks in advance,

  • How To pass the value within the page using jsp?

    How to passing the textbox value within the jsp page without using javascript or reload the page.
    I have a scenario like this:
    I have a textbox named as "accno" which allow user to key in the accno. After key in the accno, this accno value will used to do a query from database using jstl.
    here is part of my code
    <input name="accno" type="text" onChange="checkLC()"/>
    <sql:query var="results" dataSource="${db}">
    select accno,name from account where accno = '<%=value get from accno textbox%>'
    </sql:query>
    <c:out value="${result.rows[0].name}"/>
    note that onChange() is the javascript when user key in accno then automatically go to check database then only show out the name. So how can i get the '<%=value get from accno textbox%>' from accno textbox.

    How to passing the textbox value within the jsp page
    without using javascript or reload the page.No, jsp executes on the remoter server, the text box is on a client machine, you need to send information to the server over the network, http does this with a request, which will reload the page.....................

  • Referencing static html pages from jsps...

              Hi,
              This is probably a very simple thing to solve, but I'm having problems with referencing
              html pages from jsps under Weblogic.
              I get Error 404 - not found, whenever I try something like this in a JSP...
              <frame name="title" src="title.html" scrolling=no>
              The title.html file has definitely been copied into my ear file, and yet it isn't
              found. I can solve the problem by turning title.html into a jsp and registering
              it in web.xml. But this seems like serious overkill with static content!!
              Am I missing something really simple here?

              I've worked it out - directory mistake...
              Thanks,

    Can we say "JSF page IS JSP page"?

    Hi,
    No sure what you question is... but....
    Currently we can say a JSP page can contain Faces tags
    (as well as JSTL tags), etc....
