It prints "false". Yet file exists with content zero bytes.
Any way to remove the file completely ?

Can anyone provide some input as to what can be the possible reasons for the file not getting deleted?

I want the file to be created inside the directory I specified. Hence, I put the "\". Please let me know if there is some other way to achieve this. This way I am getting the file created at the location I want.
One more interesting thing which I noticed. Actually this code is part of a JUnit test. In the same JUnit, I am creating new files in atleast 2-3 test methods. But the deletion of files is really random. Sometimes, 2 out of 3 get deleted, sometimes only 1 gets deleted. However, I didn't come through a single instance wherein all the 3 files got deleted. :-(
Also, the directory is never deleted. However, I got the reason behind this. As per the File API, the directory will not be deleted if it is not empty.

DFSR - Deleted files not being deleted on remote servers

Hi All,
I have a central file server replicating its data to 2 remote files servers with read only shares.
When a file is deleted on the central server, the files are not being deleted on the remote servers. New files on the central server are replicating fine.
Why is this and how do I fix it?

Files not being deleted after a move

In Elements Organizer, I move files (photo albums) to an external hard disk and I confirm that I want to have the files deleted from the C disk. The files all get moved ok, but none of them get deleted from the C disk. I'm afraid to just delete the C disk folder, or its contents, because I don't know what will happen. I followed the basic little procedure in Organizer; I don't think I did anything wrong. When the move(s) were completed i got a message from Organizer warning me that the files had been deleted and to keep track of where they went. Can anyone straighten me out?
Additionally, I don't know how to follow-up on this, how to get back to this Discussion once I sign off... ( I have Windows Vista Home Premium)

AVHD files not being deleted by Hyper-V when DPM backs up virtual machines

Hi,
I understand DPM uses checkpoints to backup Hyper-V virtual machines.
We have seen a few instances whereby the AVHD files that are created at the time DPM backs up the VM are not being deleted on the CSV disk.
There are no checkpoints associated with the virtual machine in Hyper-V settings.
We did delete one of these AVHD files on a non-production system and it was successful, the AVHD files are not being used by the virtual machine.
Is it safe to delete these AVHD files? Anyone experienced anything similar?

When you recover a VHD of a virtual machine that has Hyper-V snapshots, .avhd files are not displayed in the
Recoverable Items pane, but DPM recovers the parent VHD and all the associated .avhd files.
Just want to confirm that these avhd files are not coresponding to recovery process.

.lck files not automatically deleting

We save all of our .fm book and chapter files to a central server, and recently we've noticed that when we close a file the .lck file does not automatically delete. Thus, we are having to manually delete this before updating books, opening files, etc. We're using FM8 on PC's with Win 7 x64. We have FM set to run in XP x32 compatability mode, which is working pretty well for us aside from the aformentioned issue.
Has anybody else run into this? Any ideas on a fix?

Do the lock files actually still exist?
If you're discovering them because FM is complaining on open, then yes they effectively still exist (although possibly only in server FS cache).
But if you're merely seeing them in a file browser, they may or may not be there. Doing a refresh may or may not clear up matters,

In File-RFC-File scenario i have used "Delete" as the processing mode for Sender file adapter.RFC was execured successfully and successful message was shown in SXMB_MONI.But at the same time there was an exception thrown in sender and receiver file adapters as given below:
Error when getting an FTP connection from connection pool. com.sap.aii.af.service.util.concurrent.ResourcePoolException:unable to create new pooled resource : FTP Ex:User piuser cannot login.
Both the CC's werein error status.
The file from source location was not deleted even after the successful processing of the message in moni. Because of this sender file adapter was reading the same source file again and again which created multiple response entries in the moni.
Could some one tell me why the file was not deleted from source location?How can the sender adapter read the message again when the above exception was thrown?

Check whether PIUSER has sufficent authorization ., Delete that channel and create a dummy one to test and see whether
you are getting the same error

Audio file not found - deleted

(I've read some of the old threads about this, however none of them seem to have a solution as far as I can see.)
So the problem is that I'm regularly receiving error messages when I open a project, which say "Audio file x not found", and this repeats for all the audio clips previously recorded. The "search" function is pointless because the lost audio clips are nowhere to be found, not even in the recycle bin.
To say that this is annoying is an understatement - when you've spent a day working on a song only to find that everything has been deleted it is very very annoying. And this is simply NOT acceptable behaviour for a program - I mean, it's not a bug ... a bug would be that it changes an audio effect every now and again, or changes the timing ... deleting all the audio tracks recorded is a SERIOUS problem, and I don't want to use Garageband again until I feel safe that it's fixed.
I should add that I recently did a clean install of OS X and that didn't seem to help. Yes, I've repaired disk permissions, that didn't help either. Interestingly I hadn't experienced this problem while I was using M-Audio's fast-track for the mic. It's hard to say that it's connected but I've been using a Samson USB mic for the past 9 months, however the problem only really started in January/February. I'm using GB 09 (v5.1, 398), on a mid-2009 Macbook Pro, OS X 10.6.7.
If you have a solution, I promise I'll give you a credit in the album notes of my next EP. Thanks!

The same thing just happened to me. I spent a whole day working on a song rough draft and opened it up to work on it again and it had resorted back to a saved file from days before. I know I had saved it because I had opened it up this morning and it was fine. I restarted my macbook pro and it was all gone. Now I have to rearrange the drums and record guitar and vocals again. Big problem apple....not cool.

Notes got deleted before my eyes!!

Opened my notes today & within a flash they were gone!! What the heck is that about?
Just FYI notes synching is & has been off in my settings.. This is crazy!

As long as it isn't on a TIme Capsule:
Quit Notes,
Disconnect from the internet (Turn off WiFi and/or unplug ethernet cable)
In Finder > Go then hold Option > Library
Navigate to Containers/com.apple.Notes/Data/Library/Notes/
Entered Time Machine
Select all the files
Restore
They may disappear once you reconnect to the internet and iCloud syncs, so I would copy them into Pages or Text Edit first just to be safe.
That way you can copy them back into Notes after iCloud syncs.

Why are Notes being deleted from my iPod touch when I delete them from email on my computer?

When i add notes on my ipod touch then they get sent automatically to my email on our computer, but if i delete them from my email on the computer they also get deleted from my ipod which i do not want. How do i keep them just on the ipod where i intially input

Whole file randomly got deleted?

I had to hard restart my laptop today because, although I could open programs and open force quit and my notifications were popping up, it wouldn't let me click anything. I don't know if that has anything to do with this, but I thought I should mention it.
Anyway, when I restarted, I logged in like normal, but noticed my desktop background image was now one of the defaults. I have a folder on my dash titled "pictures" and it had some really nice ones, including one I had found that I was using as my background. The folder is completely gone - it just has a big white "?" entitled "pictures" and it is unable to be opened.
Nothing else seems to have been affected. I've only been using this laptop for about three weeks... I don't know what could have gone wrong. I don't have a backup yet because, like I said, only three weeks, so I haven't had time to get an external yet.
What happened, and how can I get these back??

You can try a PRAM / NVRAM reset:
Shut down your Mac and unplug everything except for your powercord from the Mac.
You'll need both hands for this, Press and hold these keys on the keyboard Command (⌘), Option, P, and R
While holding these keys down, power on the Mac. Keep holding down the keys until the Mac boots up for second time and the startup chime plays.
Release the keys and continue the boot sequence.
If your files are still missing, open up "Disk Utility" inside of Applications → Utilities. Select the drive "Macintosh HD" and click "Verify Disk". If the test results return that your drive need to be repaired, boot into recover mode:
Shut down your Mac
Press Command (⌘) + R
Open Disk Utility after the Recovery Screen loads
Select the drive "Macintosh HD" and click "Repair Disk".
If this returns that your drive cannot be fixed, it means your drive is corrupt. At this point, I recommend taking your Mac in for repair at an Apple Store. Before doing so book an appointment for the Genius Bar at the nearest Apple Store online. https://getsupport.apple.com/Issues.action. Before doing so, try to backup whatever you can, if possible.

Temporary files are not getting deleted

Hi All,
I am using informix database and my code is reading BLOB from database and writing the image to different storage media. The program has to run for number of images. It is writing to media successfully but not exiting even after printing the last statement in program. it is generating some temporary files ifxb_* . If I use System.exit() garbage collection is not happeneing and temporary files not getting deleted.
I am storing BLOB to an InputStream. and closing all the Connections and ResultSet before exit.
Can anyone please tell why program is not exiting normally?

How to recover a file i accidently deleted on OS X snow leopard?

I added a file on the right side of my dock, when opening it the mouse slipped and it got deleted accidentally and i looked in SPOTLIGHT and FINDER and MACINTOSH HD and couldnt find anything... this was the tip given to me:
'Open a Finder window. Look at the left side. Click once on "Macintosh HD". Now you should be able to see the Applications folder. Drag it to the Dock. Now look for the "Users" folder. Open it. Do you see a folder that looks like a house? Open it. Do you see "Documents"? Drag it to the Dock.' i tried that and didnt work.

When you drag a folder to the Dock and it sticks in there (near the Trash can area) it's only a "alias" and the original goes back to where you dragged it from.
What I suspect occurred is you accidentally dropped the original Documents folder either into the Trash or the Downloads folder, or even the Applications folder "alias" by accident and it's disappeared.
Spotlight might not be able to search the Trash or Downloads, or perhaps you have indexing turned off for the Applications folder.
So I suggest you manually look in those folder for the Documents folder and place it back into your User folder (home)
Then you can try dragging the Documents folder to the Trash can area on the Dock to create the alias.
