Why has my mac mails suddenly stopped sending email

I have a new mac air--not even 6 months old. My mac mail has had the same address for almost 10 years. In the last year my mac mail will suddenly stop sending. The last time I talked to mac support they said there was a definite problem and when the new update was installed with the fix, it would start working again--it did, a few weeks ago. Today...it stopped sending again. WHY?

How are you trying to read them? What process are you using and what applications are involved?

It's hard to know what's going on, aside from some programmatic error in the file you're distributing. By far the simplest solution is to return to your original form, save it with another name, and then start the distribution process over again. It'll only take a couple of minutes, and will be far quicker and easier than trying to understand what's happened with your original file.

My iPad 2 has suddenly stopped sending emails. It puts them in the outbox but that's as far as they go. I've tried turning off ect but no joy. It puts them in the outbox but thats as far as they go.

The restrictions should have no bearing at all as to why mail is not being sent. It will prevent you from making changes to the emai account, so I don't know how you were able to try what I suggested if you can't get into your mail settings.
As for the 10 attempts ...... You get as many tries as you need with that passcode. But the catch is that if you cannot remember it and you need to get into the settings, you have to restore your iPad back to factory settings and start all over again. The only way that you can use a backup is if the backup does not contain that passcode. If you restore from a backup that has the passcode in or, you will jut end up in a never ending loop.
So after having said all of this I would have to assume that you tried my suggestion before you locked yourself out of the settings.

I'd recommend also reposting in the Snow Leopard forum because Mail is part of SL If both sending and receiving is not working then contact your ISP and see if they have any known issues. If they don' t what I've found to work is removing the account in Mail and then recreating it.

We can't know. You have not told us what exactly the problem is. If there are any warnings, you need to provide them along with other info like the crash logs. If not you have to explain the situation in more detail. Just saying that it doesn't work anymore is not particularly useful.

Outlook 2013 suddenly stopped sending email

good morning and happy new year.
my outlook suddenly stopped sending emails. I can still receive emails. but no luck sending. I've added a new account to my outlook and that one sends/receives fine. I have the email on my phone it sends and receives fine. I've tried uninstalling than reinstalling
outlook. Nothing changed. tried the quick fix as well as the internet longer fix. same result nothing changed. this is my business email so I really need to get it figured out. Please Help

Without the detail information of your email accounts, it is difficult to move on. Could you please tell the type of you email account, Exchange, POP3, IMAP or Live account? If it is an Internet account, please detail the email provider, like Gmail, Yahoo
or else.

In most cases this scenario happens if the sending message is stuck in the Outbox somehow, what we could next do is to identify the cause why it would happen.
1. Is there any large message remain in the outbox folder?
2. Authentication problem or simply password expired.
3. The sending message is called by another application like mailscanner?

TS3276 Mac Mail won't send emails with signatures

My Mac Mail won't send emails with signatures. I get the "whoosh" sound and they show in sent mail, but the recipient doesn't receive them until I take off the signature and resend the email. Without a signature, it is received. It never used to be a problem, but started this past month. Please advise!

Did Earthlink have you try using their authenticated SMTP server?
If not, try changing Earthlink's SMTP server settings to the following:
SMTP Server: smtpauth.earthlink.net
Server Port: 25 or 587. Assuming Earthlink is your ISP, 25 should work.
Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL): Off or not selected.
Authentication Type: MD5 Challenge-Response. Not sure if this authentication type is available with 10.2 and if not, select Password.
User Name: Your entire Earthlink email address.
Password: The password for your Earthlink email account - the same password used to check the incoming mail server for new messages.

Is your Mail set up properly? It is possible that you have set up the wrong SMTP & POP3 servers.

Mac mail suddenly stopped downloading.

OS 10.7.5. Mail is v 5.3. I haven't made any changes, but POP mail suddenly stopped working this evening. My host does not seem to be having a problem. Any thoughts?

you may also want to go into the mail preferences/general and increase the frequency that your mac checks for new messages as well.
also be careful rebuilding a POP account because you run the risk of losing your email messages since on a POP account the messages aren't stored on your ESP server. if you choose to do the rebuild export your mailboxes first so you have a backup in case something happens to the messages.

TS3899 suddenly stopped sending email

Tried resetting phone, removed and re-input email account information, turned phone off for provider to do a reset. Still nothing. Verizon is out of ideas to fix this issue. I was having this issue as well with my Yahoo mail and tried everything. The one thing that worked for me was double clicking the home button, closing the Mail app, then reopening it. Suddenly all my emails synced. Anyone else having this problem should try this. :)

My Mac Outlook 2011 Stopped Sending Emails for all POP Accounts from Different Providers

I've had this problem before, but this time I am truly dumbfounded. My Outlook 2011 has randomly stopped sending emails, but I can still receive them. This has happened a few times and I normally change the ports/SSL and I can get it to work. But now I am at a loss. I have several email accounts that I manage. One of which is GMAIL, using IMAP, and this is the only account that currently works find receiving and sending. My POP accounts, four of them, all cannot send emails. They can only receive. One of them is with GoDaddy, and the other three are with an Asian company. I can't find any help on this. I've upgraded Office to the latest version. I've even deleted the accounts and added them back in, and I still can't send email. I'm frankly getting exhausted and sick of this type of problem happening. I honestly use this program and my MacBook Air to send clients information...only to find out hours later that a mail never sent because it's been stuck in my <hidden> Outbox in Outlook 2011. This has hurt me now badly on several occassions. Please HELP!

All SMTP servers are set correctly as far as I can tell, the connection doctor says everything is fine, and I removed all my accounts to re-add them. I added one and tried to send a message--stuck in the outbox--failed. I added another account and deleted the first one and tried to send a message--stuck in the outbox--failed. I'm pretty convinced the problem is with Mac's Mail client...I can send email from anywhere I've tried except for Mac's Mail client. Thanks for the help.

IPad suddenly stopped sending emails.

My iPad was working well until about a week ago when it stopped sending emails. A message saying that an error occurred and the email could not be sent appears at the screen. Emails are still being received.

Two things to try:
1. Reboot your iPad: Press and hold BOTH the power and home buttons at the SAME time for at least 110 seconds (ignore the red slider to shut down) until the Apple Logo appears, then let go of both buttons and your iPad will restart.
If after rebooting your iPad you still can not send mail:
Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar and delete the mail account
Then re-enter the mail account
Make sure you know your ID and passwords, servers, etc., so you can easily add the mailbox back.
I have had to do this, especially with Yahoo once or twice and after doing so, was able to send and receive again.
