Why is incoming mail on EST and we are on CDT?

Why is incoming mail on EST and we are on CDT?

This likely is down to what timezone you are in, what timezone your mail server is in, and what timezone the sender and senders mail server are in. Each email has various head lines in it which define the time it is sent, and the time it passes through each mail server involved. (Usually but not always this maybe just two servers.)
Here are a few lines extracted from an email I received from Google.
X-Received: by 10.236.38.225 with SMTP id a61mr10779664yhb.44.1414751119031;

The bottom line is the line from my own mail server, but the other line is the line from Google's mail server. I at the time this email was processed was in the UK in GMT - it was before we switched to BST (British Summer Time), therefore the offset from GMT was zero hours, hence the +0000. Now that we have switched to BST the offset is +0100 i.e. one hour. As Google are in the USA their servers are seven hours behind GMT and hence the -0700 figure.
If you have outsourced your email to a company who has the servers located in a different country to yourself this maybe the explanation.

I like the mail feature with one exception; I cannot figure out how to change the font size of incoming mail permanently.  And, when answering an email I have to highlight the first few words and zoom it so I can see what I am writing.  what am I missing?

You can type the email using what you set in preferences and then highlight the text and use command - minus sign (or command - + for larger) to reduce the size of the text.
You can also type command - T and a window will appear allowing you to select fonts/sizes/color/ background highlight.
The above works in Notes also. I haven't tried to do this in any other Apple application.
For incoming emails, you can use the above to reduce font size, but I don't know of a way to permanently set the incoming font size to a default.

  • Hi, I have private emails in IPAD2, i have chaged the incoming mail server name and saved the change.

Hi, I have private emails in IPAD2, i have chaged the incoming mail server name and saved the change.
but, when I back to read my old emails in inbox it's gone away, I have backed to setting and return the previous
incoming mail name, but also I did't get the old emails. where I can find the old emails in my IPAD2 ?

It is only the link to your emails which are 'stored' on your iPad. You will have to enter all proper email addresses to get the message associated with them, which, in practice,  means multiple accounts. If all still does not work try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release].

Sorry, not quite accepted, I see that I missed something out...
This rapid flashing has only occured since I had BT Sport included in my package a few days back. Before then the light had been stable green with the occasional rapid flashing whilst I have been connected to the internet. That obviously does indicate data transfer.
However, when I was not connected to the internet, the light glowed a stable green all the time. Now it flashes rapidly even when I'm not connected - I'll add there that my BT Vision box remains on all the time.
Heat - The unit IS WARMER than it was - That may sound nit-picking but with my OCD's I "Touch-check" every item of electrical equipment every time I leave my house and, when I go to bed at night  so I am very well used to "How warm something should be" so that in my mind, I "Feel Safe". At this time I don't "Feel Safe" with the increased temperature so have to switch it off overnight, or when I leave my house.
** The unit may of course be warmer due to extra data-transfer but then, why do I suddenly have extra, and constant data transfer when my computers are switched off and I'm not using the internet?
A thought about that I think could be that someone else is constantly accessing my connection though I've no idea how that could be so or if that ever could happen.

  • Why is incoming mail server greyed out and unalterable and mail.app cannot get mail?

I haven't had any iCloud mail for 3 days now. I'm in the UK. When I look at the account settings the incoming mail server shows a greyed out 'p01-imap.mail.me.com'. I've looked at Apples support pages and try as I might I can't configure it as they say I should be able to! Is there a little plist file or something somewhere I need to delete so I can get this thing working again or is it an Apple problem? The UK support pages say iCloud is working. I'm running OSX 10.7.4 on alate 2009 iMac.

I realize that this is a double post, but the info may pertain,
the thread is a little different and may be otherwise missed.
Working with expresslane the issue I was bucked up
to sr. level - they found the problem is 's changeover
to icloud addresses has deleted my primary alternate
but verified email addy as it had an @me suffix. 
replaced this with @icloud but can't as of now restore
the recent mail to that address. I'm told that despite
my MobileMe membership, converted to iCloud, I'm
to lose all my @me and @mac addys. I'd thought they
were grandfathered for us but this may not be true. So,
the issue for me has been explained, though unresolved.
Advice: Beware, be very aware - if you have an old, and
more pretigious, @mac addy. For now, mine still works
but it's my ID so they may let me continue it (?).

  • Why does incoming mail go into the trash on my iPad?

Incoming mail goes into the trash and not into the In box on my iPad. What needs to be changed, as these incoming emails have not been read. Why do they go into the trash?

sometimes when I register with some app or website, they send me a email. They sometimes say look in you trash or spam folder. you might just have to read them from there

  • Why does my mail skipp inbox and goes to all mail instead, i dont have any kind of filters on ?

    Hi,
I've been using thunderbird for my gmail, recently i noticed that some incoming mail skipped my inbox folder while never appearing in it and turned out in an all mail folder instead.
I didn't put any kind off filters on so i wonder why this keeps happening and i would like to know how to be sure all of my incoming mail gets shown in the inbox folder ?
    Thanks

I don't use Gmail IMAP, but I assume that "important" mail only appears there and in all mail. Likewise "family" etc. Having it in inbox and important etc would be frustrating.

  • Configure incoming mails to lists and document library

    Hi Everyone,
I am trying to configure incoming mail in Sharepoint to accommodate sending emails to a list or a document library. Between the basic/automatic mode and advanced mode, I have opted to configure basic as I do not want to yet have to configure any settings
within our Exchange environment. I have set the incoming email server display address to be Mail.Sharepoint.com and specified that all emails should be accepted. I have also gone on to our Sharepoint web server and enabled SMTP service. I apart from enabling
the smtp service I have not configured anything else on the web server. Finally I have gone into the incoming email settings of a test document library and assigned  the name [email protected]
Having tried multiple times sending mails to the above mentioned address and getting the error "#,#5.7.0 smtp; 551 5.7.0 recipient domain does not exist in DNS>#SMTP#" please could you suggest what the problems is?
    Thanks,
    Dominic

You need to add an A record in DNS of mail.sharepoint.com to the DNS Zone hosting 'sharepoint.com'. You could also consider adding an MX record that points to that A record.

  • TS3276 My gmail or icloud mailbox has no incoming mail, showing that the mailboxes are connected but nothing coming in, mailbox rebuild option is greyed out. any ideas?

My mail has suddenly stopped receiving any incoming mail, I have gmail and of course icloud but nothing coming in or going out. I've ran the connection doctor and it's showing that the connection to the internet is fine, so where is the mail?
Cannot rebuild mailbox as the option is greyed out...any ideas?
I can access my gmail via the internet so posts will be seen.
thanks, any advice will be welcome as i'm at a loss.

I've ran the connection doctor and it's showing that the connection to the internet is fine
What about the connections to the mail servers?

  • Mail.app From and Subject are blank in list

From time to time I get an email and once it is deleted, the "From" and "Subject" do not display in the list of emails. Its just blank. The "Date Received" shows up as well as if there were any attachments I get the paperclip icon, but no "From" or "Subject". If I open the email I can see the "From" and "Subject" in the email header just fine so I know the data is there, just doesnt show up in the list of emails. If I move the email back to my inbox and the delete it again it usually fixes the problem. Not a big deal but wanted to see if anyone else has had this issue and has a fix.
I am running Mail.app 3.2, and my emailemail is being routed through google apps setup as imap account.
This also happens on my wife's computer, who has an identical email setup as mine, just a different account, which leads me to believe its a mail.app ->imap ->gmail issue.
Dont get me started on the dreaded "All Mail" folder.

I have tried suffering through changing the message encoding back and forth to get messages to appear, but it has reached a level of absurdity that I just can stand anymore.
I view my mail with IMAP from three places; Mac Pro, MacBook Pro, and iPhone. If I read a message on any one of the platforms, the remaining Mac (not iPhone) do not display the header information in the message list pane. The iPhone always shows everything fine. And if I download the message first on one of the Macs, it looks fine there, but when that message is downloaded on the other Mac (doesn't matter which was first or second, the pro or macbook pro) the from, to, sent, subject are all invisible on the second machine.
I wrote an automator "watch me" recording to toggle message encoding, but with over 2000 affected email messages, it was taking hours to run, and makes that Mac useless until it is done.
I am less than happy with this situation. Why no bulk message encoding change capability? If you select more than one message the encoding options grey-out.
I've tried rebuilding mailboxes. Using the "defaults write ..." on both Macs. Nothing is working.
Surely someone else is seeing this too?

  • Why mandatory columns of  Base tables and interface are differant?

Hi guys , i have load supplier into AP(ap_suppliers) through Interface table(ap_suppliers_int) but my confusion is that ap_suppliers have 8 mandatory columns but it's interface ap_suppliers_int have only 2 mandatory column.why?and also with these 2 columns records are also loading.
    Regards,
    Shakeel khan

    Hi Shakeel,
If you are using 12.0, data in AP_SUPPLIERS is not imported from AP_SUPPLIERS_INT table, data in AP_SUPPLIERS_INT corresponds to data in PO_VENDORS(Vendors data Maintained in 11i).
If its 11i, If Segment1 is NULL, its generated from below sql,
    SELECT user_defined_vendor_num_code
    INTO l_ven_num_code
    FROM financials_system_parameters;
And if summary flag is NULL its inserted 'N' and if Enabled Flag is NUll its inserted as 'Y'.
    The rest are WHO columns.
Refer to AP_PO_VENDORS_APIS_PKG for additional info on this.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    Kiran

  • Cannon Send Mail  (user name and password are incorrect) but they are correct

My mom just got a new phone and I setup iCloud, but it will not send email, it says
cannot send mail. The user name/ password for iCloud are incorrect, but they are correct

I just found this so I answered my own question
    http://www.apple.com/asia/support/icloud/systemstatus/
iCloud: Mail & Notes  -   Users Affected: <1% 13/04/2012 01:41 SGT Users may be unable to send or receive mail. Users can still access Mail on their Mac, PC, iOS device, or at iCloud.com. Normal service will be restored ASAP.

  • HT1386 iPhone and iPad don't always appear in iTunes for wifi sync, why? Sometimes, when my phone and ipad are both turned on and I open iTunes it shows "2 devices" in iTunes and I can sync. Often one or neither will show up, no matter what I do.

I can sync my iphone and ipad over wifi using itunes, but not always. In fact quite frequently neither shows up in itunes. I try to reboot them and sometimes they show up, but not all the time. I have tried rebooting iphone and ipad, the computer, checking and unchedking "sync over wifi," etc.
Nothing changes. Very often one or both do not show up to be synced. they work find if connected by usb cable, but not over wifi.
    any help would be appreciated.

So far I've found the only remedy is to reboot my server (Mavericks Server is my OS).
Clearly there is some system service getting hosed.  If I can figure out which service to kill and let launchd restore the service, I can save some grief.
