Why is my Crop Guide Overlay dropdown missing?

Can someone explaing to me why my Crop Guide Overlay dropdown is missing?
Adobe Photoshop CS4.
I'm sorry, I'm very frustrated. There used to be a day when you could click on help and it would bring up help topics on the product you purchased. Now, I get a website with CS5, CS6 and whatever else. I can't find the answer to my problem, I've been searching for too long now so I'm posting here.

What Crop Guide Overlay are you expecting?
Something you've seen in a later version of Photoshop, perhaps?
Later versions of Photoshop offer more things, like a Rule of Thirds overlay. As far as I remember, Photoshop CS4 simply didn't have that, and showed you just what you're seeing in the screen grab you posted..
You could emulate a rule of thirds grid, I suppose, by creating both Horizontal and Vertical guides at 33% and 67%. But they will not move as you change the crop dimensions.

After upgrading from LR 2.3 to 2.4 (Mac) I can no longer see the crop guide overlays when using the Crop Tool. No overlay shows, no matter what choice I make in View > Crop Guide Overlay. Anything I can do to show Crop Guide Overlays in LR 2.4?

Use O to toggle through the types of overlay, but importantly, make sure the item under View called Tool Overlay is set to Auto or Always. If these don't stick, delete Preferences, How to locate Preferences files in LR. Takes just a few minutes to go through and reset as you like it.

Is this a bug in cropping guide?

I have an image in Develop, with at least one side panel off. I turn on the crop guide (r), and image goes blurry. Turn it off, and image goes sharp again. No "Loading" at the bottom. Seems to show more on a horizontal image, but that may be because it is larger. Sometimes it seems worse than others, so it may be a system problem. Here is my system info.

There is a rendering bug that Adobe is aware of regarding partially rendered (or stuck unrendered) images in Develop module while in Fit mode (usually remedied by resizing the "fit" window smaller, etc.), but I'm not sure that is what you were seeing.

Did you crop the photo to the same aspect ratio as your print size? If not, then the software will crop it for you.

Why do we need GUID?

Hi All,
I noticed some posts on SDN forums talking about creating GUIDs and using them as primary keys in DB tables and Persistent Objects especially in CRM.
But I don't know why do we need GUID? aint the business key enough?
What are the uses of GUID?
I could not find any GUID fields in the standard tables in our ERP system (SAP NetWeaver 7.0)!!!
Could somebody please explain this to me or put some links on this matter.

The previous postings explained the GUID in detail.
The only thing I like to add is - since you posted your question in this particular forum - is to mention the class CL_RECA_GUID (available on >= ECC 5.0).
In table DD03L you will find more than 2000 table fields named GUID, approximately 600 of them are key fields (on ECC 6.0).
Example: DB table CGPL_TASK (Project Planning: Attribute Table for Activities)
I think a unique GUID makes sense when either the "normal" business key becomes to complex to use or if business objects are shared between different SAP systems (e.g. you may have an EBP systems and your "normal" R/3 ERP system).

Elements 7 ACR Version and crop guides

Two questions:
First, what is the latest version of ACR that I can use with Elements 7?
Second, Elements 7 has no crop guides such as rule of thirds, golden section etc. Is there a way of creating these a different way?

I am not sure you are looking for technical crop guides like those:

I imagine you rather want guides to compose and choose your final cropping.
- For cropping, you could use the 'aspect ratio' in the crop tool or rectangular marquee tool and specify heigth and width.
- To get visual guides on a separate layer, you could draw your own templates, or probably use third party add-ons. I'll get back if I find some of them.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

Folio Overlay is Missing! InDesign CC won't update..?

I am working in InDesign CC and want to create scrolling text in my pdf - for publishing on the iPad.
I have looked at various tutorials and they all call out "Folio Overlay" which seems to be missing from my Windows tab.
I was prompted to update, which I did - yet my problems still persisted. I was told by InDesign that I needed to update again, yet now when I go to update nothing happens.
I am not sure what the problem is... why can't I update? & where did my folio overlay button go?

Same thing happening to me. JUST downloaded new InDesign CC. Folio Overlay missing. In Fact, I cannot even sign into Folio Builder because it says it needs says "A software update is required to use Digital Publishing Suite. Please go to the Help menu and select Updates to get the required software." However, InDesign is completely up to day (I just downloaded it), the CC installer says it is up to date, AND there is NO "Updates" in the Help menu. I am not sure what 'Update" the Folio needs.
