Why is my iPad deleting my hotmail emails without permission?

I have outlook on my laptop, which interacts with my hotmail account fine: as in it downloads emails from the server and leaves a copy on the server so I can still access them online or other devices.
I set up my hotmail on my iPad2 mail client using address and password and it's been a disaster: If I use the mail client on my iPad it downloads the latest emails from the account and deletes them from the server, then to add insult to injury they disappear from the mail client after a few days, losing them forever.
There is no option re servers on the settings or advanced settings for the account, infact there is virtually no setting options at all. (It does have a setting, which is a slide button, which states "Ask before deleting" , this is set to green, which I assume means yes (is yes or no too tricky?) but clearly this setting is not working)
I want to be able to view all my emails on all my devices but my iPad doesn't want to make this easy, plus there isn't an outlook app I can replace the apple mail client with, can anyone help?

I'm having this problem intermittently. It happened this evening when:
1) I reviewed emails on my iPad (Advanced > Delete from server > Never)
2) Later, went to my Macbook to retrieve my emails ... two messages didn't show up!
Seems to be working fine now. However, I am going to be extra careful with messages that I have downloaded to iPad. My short term fix is to forward these messages from my iPad back to myself. Crazy solution!
I think there's a place around here to report a bug like this ...

Why won't iPad video open when emailed to Windows desktop?

    Hey there Ray_J,
I understand that you want iTunes to be opening every time you connect your phone to your computer. You may wish to adjust this setting in your iTunes preferences to affect this behavior:
Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically
Prevent devices from automatically syncing with this iTunes library when a device is connected. To sync a device, click the Sync button when the device is connected.
iTunes 12 for Mac: iTunes Devices preferences
    https://support.apple.com/kb/PH19595
If this is unchecked, iTunes will open automatically when you connect an iOS device. Thanks for being a part of the Apple Support Communities!

  • Why does my iPad no longer display email messages?

My iPad suddenly stopped showing the body of emails, both for my iCloud account and for my Google mail account. I discovered that if I click to either reply or forward a message a truncated version of it appears with no attachments or graphics. I didn't change any settings or anything before it happened. What do I do to get the body of email messages to show up again?

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

  • I have an iPad 2, and I am sending PDF file to my iPad, via a Hotmail email. But, the PDF arrives to the iPad in Mail already opended, as a picture on the bottom of the email. Is there a way to prevent it from auto open, so I can open with iBooks instead?

I have an iPad 2, and I am sending PDF files to my iPad, via a Hotmail account. But, the PDF arrives to the iPad Mail account already opened at the bottom of the email. Is there a way to prevent this auto-opening of the PDF. I've seen screen shots with the box, and PDF listed inside the box, but mine open automatically. I want to get them into iBooks...?

I am having the same problem and it is even bigger.
When opening a 1-page PDF in iBooks and sending it via mail it is sent inline as preview, but the recipient cannot open the file anymore. Also on iPad and iPhone there is no "open in" possible.
Somehow the mail app does destroy the file. What is going wrong?

How can I delete Unread Sent emails?I have over 300...and I can't delete them!!!Please advise how to delete!!!

this might work it might not, but turn to settings, notification center, mail and turn the badge icon off and open your mail account again. then repeat but turn the badge icon on this time and see if they are still there. sorry but this might not help. you can also try logging into your email accounts on a laptop or pc and maybe then you can view what emails you are not seeing on your phone..

  • How do I delete my iCloud email without deleting the files from the server?

I want to delete my iCloud email from a laptop I don't use much anymore. I am afraid if I do all the files will delete from the server as well. Is this true? If not, what are the best ways to go about deleting the account without harming the files on the server (in turn deleting all my email from synced iCloud devices)?

In Mail, delete the account, the server side will not be changed.

I concur with Meg; having a number of iPads with the Smart Cover, I can say without a doubt that there is no possible way the case could bend the machined-alumnium case of iPad. The force exerted by the magnets is not anywhere near sufficiently powerful; if they were, not only could you not remove the cover, it would be attracting magnetic objects to the iPad. It's not even easy to bend the iPad yourself, much less the weak magnets of the case, which aren't even strong enough so you can pick up the iPad by the case without it coming off.
Something else has bent your iPad, if it indeed is bent (confirm with a verified straightedge; there's an optical illusion that makes the iPad appear to be bent when looked at edge-on, but it's not actually bent). If it is really bend, have you been carrying it it a backpack, attache case or other item with other objects? Set anything heavy on the iPad? I bet you, or someone, has, or something like that, and in such a case the damage will not be Apple's fault and hence not covered by the warranty.
But as Meg suggested, you can take it to an Apple Store and discuss the matter with them. The cover, though, again cannot possible have bent the iPad.
    Regards.

  • Why does my iPad keep loading old emails I have deleted previously from my mail?

I just got this iPad and I love it. I have a few email accounts and have the cloud set up. I have set 50 messages as my maximum but it keeps bringing in emails from my main email account. It overwhelms my iPad and causes it to slow down and lock up. I get a number 2 next to a lot of emails, they are duplicated on my iPad and iPhone

Yep, having the same problem as well. Tried all solutions, removed account from iPad, purged online emails. Still cannot delete email from the iPad. This is very frustrating. Its even a MobileMe account.......iOS better be a great update as I will be moving to Android if not.
Anyone out there know how to fix these issues?

  • Why does my iPad delete my MobileMe inbox?

I've had my iPad since February and for the most part, I really love it. With one small (or maybe not so small) caveat. Every once in a while, it literally EATS my inbox. This has happened on FIVE separate occasions, the latest being today, where I'll be in the middle of looking at my emails when suddenly they just disappear. I have a Time Machine and have been able to recover most of th                     em, but today, for example, no backups were performed between noon and when this happened (about 3:45 CT), so while I could recover most of my inbox, all the newest emails are permanently gone. I don't remember what had accumulated in there in that time, but I do know there were at least two emails from a client that I'll now have to ask them to resend. This would be less of a big deal if they weren't a.) a brand new client and b.) this wasn't the SECOND time in the past several weeks that I'm having to explain that my iPad ate their emails and would they please resend them!!!!!
Anyone else ever experience this? And if you have, have you figured out how to fix it? Apple's been unable to help me with this. The first few times it happened, they couldn't recover anything. The last couple times they weren't able to recover anything I couldn't recover myself from my Time Machine. Any advice I can get to prevent this from happening again would be greatly appreciated.

Ummm ..... you've just marked your own question as 'Answered already', which means that not too many people are going to be looking at it.
Beyond that .... give us a break! Your post provided absolutely zero information useful for letting anyone else even get started on figuring out why your iPad is "automatically deleting your email". If you have any trouble with that opinion of mine, please answer the following: "My car won't start. Why?" You can now start making guesses as to all the possible reasons why it won't start. Good luck!
And beyond that ... you post your first question at 3:06 pm, then ... three whole minutes later .... you tack on an impatient "What is the answer?" Seriously?

  • Why can't i receive my hotmail email but i can send them on my macbook pro

  • Why does my iPad 2 only store emails from the last 3 or 4 days?

Why does my iPad2 only store emails from the last 3 or 4 days?  I have it set up to store the last 1000 messages but I can't seem to keep them...

What is the account type - POP, IMAP, or Exchange?
If a POP account, are you also accessing the account with an email client on your computer? If so, what is the account setting for removing messages from the server after being downloaded with the email client used on your computer for accessing the account?

  • Why can't i access my hotmail email inbox from Windows Live messenger

I am able to access it when I use the IE browser, but it appears to be blocked when I use Mozilla Firefox. I have changed my password, but can't access my account to change my personal question as recommended by Windows support forum. This problem began on Sept.28th. Until that time,i had no problem accessing my alternate email

Welcome to the Apple user discussion forums
Why does iphoto not let you access photos in the same way?
Because you are working with a photo management database in iPhoto which gives you a great deal more flexibility and power compared to a folder based organization like you had on your PC. You do need to learn how to use it- there is a learning curve.
Do I first need to store my photos in Pictures and then make copies of them in iPhoto?
    No
When you want to attach a photo to a web upload look in the media section in the source pane to the left of the selection box
For complete details on accessing your photos Read TD's discussion here.
