Why is my signal with the HTC One M8 worse then my mom's Droid Mini?

Her phone constantly gets a 4G signal in our house and mine mostly just gets 3G. It gets 4G sometimes but not alot. Her signal is always better then mine too. Here are a few screenshots showing the difference.

Terryh215 We definitely want you to have great signal on your device. We apologize but we are not able to view the screenshots sent. However, we can help by troubleshooting your device. Which device is yours? The HTC or the Motorola? Again, I apologize that we are unable to view the photos.

  • Do the Apple Earpods work with the HTC One?

    Hi,
I am just about to upgrade my phone to a HTC One and I just wanted to know if my Apple Earpods will work with that phone.
I think that the actual earpods themselves will work but I just want to know if the inline mic and controls will work with it or they will not function, while letting the earpods still output sound.
    Any response is appreciated,
    Thanks,
    Raj Ubhi

there is no std for how to handle mic and buttons on headsets so each make it their own way
if they work nobody will know without trying

  • Why doesn't the HTC One (M8) Windows Phone have it's own Device Discussion Thread?

I was looking to see what issues people have had with the HTC One (M8) but there is no discussion thread on this device; one of the two WP Verizon still sells. Who has one & do you like it?

To add to poster above, this issue is really with MS not pushing their product and not working with devs to get more and better apps.  Also, you know VZW isn't pushing a WP because it isn't a Droid.  I sincerely hope WP gives Android and Apple a run one day, but right now the closest we will see a major MS push is later this year when their new phones start arriving.

  • Why doesn't the Verizon Version of the HTC ONE (M9) have Wifi Calling?

I have been with sprint for 11 years and recently upgraded my HTC One (M7) to the HTC One (M9). went to jamaica and was able to keep in touch with everyone free of charge with wifi calling. Once i returned i decided to leave sprint and come to Verizon. I realized today they dont have wifi calling on this phone. Why is that. isn't it CDMA like sprint

They're planning on releasing it in mid-2015:
Verizon Wireless (NYSE: VZ) plans to introduce Wi-Fi calling in the middle of next year but does not see an urgent need for it, according to Verizon Communications CFO Fran Shammo.
Speaking at the Bank of America Merrill Lynch Media, Communications and Entertainment Conference, Shammo noted that Apple's (NASDAQ: AAPL) new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus support Wi-Fi calling. He said Verizon needs to do "some technological work in our network to make it available," and it should come around the middle of next year.
However, he said Wi-Fi calling was "never a top priority" for Verizon. "We built our voice platform so extensively [that] there was never a need for us to tell our customers, 'Oh, our network is not good enough so you need to go on Wi-Fi to complete your call.'"
He noted that when a call goes onto a Wi-Fi network, it's difficult for Verizon to guarantee the quality of service on that call, which is what Verizon has built its brand reputation on. That's a major reason Verizon waited so long to launch Voice over LTE service--it wanted to make sure it had adequate coverage that could replicate the voice experience of calls on its 3G CDMA network. Verizon has just started rolling out VoLTE service.
Other carriers are moving ahead with Wi-Fi calling plans. Ralph de la Vega, CEO of AT&T's Mobile & Business Solutions Group,  said last week that AT&T will launch Wi-Fi calling in 2015 but that the carrier will use it only as a complement to Voice over LTE or 3G-based calling. "We don't have this burning desire" to use it to enhance coverage, he said.
The comments were notable in light of T-Mobile US' (NYSE:TMUS) announcement this week that heavily emphasized Wi-Fi calling and using personal routers to create Wi-Fi coverage areas in subscribers' homes. T-Mobile is the first and only U.S. carrier to support Wi-Fi calling on the new iPhone. Sprint (NYSE: S) also launched a Wi-Fi calling service for its Android smartphones this past February.
In terms of other hot topics, Shammo said Verizon would not be leasing phones, as Sprint is doing with its "iPhone for life" offering with the new iPhones. Under that program, individual customers will pay $20 a month for a 16 GB iPhone 6, instead of $30 under normal financing. At the end of 24 months, they can trade in their iPhone for a new iPhone. The iPhone 6 Plus will cost $25 per month under this program instead of $35 under normal financing. If a customer wants an iPhone with more internal storage they will pay more per month. The leasing program applies to families as well.
Shammo said Verizon offers its Edge handset-financing and early-upgrade program but that the "majority" of Verizon customers are still choosing subsidized handsets paired with two-year contracts. In contrast, AT&T said sales through its similar Next program represented around 50 percent of all smartphone sales in the second quarter.
Shammo also touched on whether Verizon might sell its wireless-tower assets, saying the company remains open to it. In the past, doing a deal "always came down to price and terms and conditions," which he said have become more favorable. He said that Verizon's network is experiencing high demand and that the company would like to retain the flexibility to add towers or add network gear to existing towers. "It's an option for us," he said. "We continue to look at it, and we'll see what happens."
Last week at a separate investor conference, Verizon Communciations CEO Lowell McAdam also said the company would be open to selling some of its towers if the price was right. "Those deals are coming to us a little more now, and if an opportunity presented itself to increase shareholder value" Verizon would be interested in pursuing it, McAdam said, according to Reuters. McAdam said Verizon received interest in its towers two years ago, but the bids weren't high enough.

  • Why wont verizon have a version of the HTC One?

I know this has been talked about...and that most everyone out there is all hyped up about the next samsung galaxy, but as soon as the HTC one came out i was glued to it... until they announced the carriers. No Verizon version. WTH?? Im telling you BIG RED...you have two choices now that my contract is almost up. You either a) announce some stupidly named droid device that is very much akin to this HTC one...(maybe with a better battery)...or b)i will switch to sprint and say...bu-bye
    Title edited by: Verizon Moderator

verizon dont like carrying phones that other carriers carry. the galaxy s 3 and note 2 are exceptions because the market share for those devices are big so they would lose big time money not to carry them..
verizon prefer manufacturers to make exclusive verizon phones EX: HTC DROID DNA... SAMSUNG DROID CHARGE MOTOROLA DROID LINES.
samsung put its foot down last year by making the SGS III identical across all US carriers. verizon had no choice but to swallow the pill.  good for samsung now HTC its trying to follow samsung steps. verizon feels that they wont lose much money by not carrying the htc one
NOW HERE IS THE REASON WHY VERIZON DECIDED NOT TO CARRY HTC ONE.
Imagine verizon advertising the HTC ONE in a TV AD ..... why would a new customer get and HTC ONE from verizon when that same new customers can get it from t mobile and save big time money over the course of 2 years??
verizon only like phones they can tout as exclusive.
hopefully the HTC DROID DNA is the last droid phone we will ever see.
If manufactures start selling the same device year after year across all carriers... Carriers like verizon will lose its stranglehold in the industry. THIS IS WHAT WE WANT.

  • Can I see depth map in a JPG photo taken on the HTC One M8 phone with the duo lens?

Can I open a JPG photo taken on the HTC One M8 phone with the duo lens & see the grey scale depth map? See Depthy.me & StereoPhotoMaker that do it for Google Camera Lens Blur photos.
Can a plug in be created to do it pls?
    Will

Thanks Chris. Depthy.me & Stereo Photomaker both provide free tools to view the depth map data as a grey scale for Google Camera Lens Blur files. However, that needs you to move the camera to capture the parallax data which is impractical for photographing anything that's not still! The HTC dual lens is therefore superior as it's instant.
Once the depthmap is extracted, Stereo Photomaker then produces stereo pairs to view on a 3D TV or produces multi views that can be interlaced in Triaxes 3D Master Kit & printed as glasses free lenticulars.
HTC publish the dual lens SDK so I hope someone can easily write a plugin for Photoshop to read the HTC depth data.

  • Dropped calls constantly on 4G with my HTC One Android

HiI have been a 3G Orange customer for years with only a few problems with the service provided when it came to calls made or received. I work in both central London and Norwich and regularly travel. The problems started when I moved to EE 4g network this spring 2015.  Since then in the same locations where I could make clear 3G calls I now have very low and fluctuating 4G signal on my HTC One. Furthermore, the incidence of dropped calls has increased to almost all of the calls I receive or instigate. I called EE customer service two months ago and they said that a mast was being fixed and that things should improve in my Norwich area - I think this is a standard delay tactic that the helpdesk has been told to say.  The dropped calls and poor reliability and signal problem follows me everywhere I go and nothing has changed.   Dropped calls occur in London and in Norwich and everywhere inbetween since I moved to 4G. My question to the community is - Should I ask EE to revert me back to 3G to improve call quality?  Thanks

    Hi
    Great Info
As  suggested it may be worth turning the device to 2G/3G to see if you experience the same issues with dropped calls.
Let me know how you get on.
    Thanks.

as there was some problem with the first one. Now at some places still my old apple Id is appearing.  Pls adv how I change this to my new apple Id.

Anything you downloaded with the first Apple Id will forever be tied to it, and will always require it to update.
The question here is, why did you think you needed to create a new Apple ID? What was the problem with the first one?
To get rid of th old one, you'll need to delete everything you downloaded with it, and then sign out of the ID in several places around the iPad.
    Go to Settings->iTunes & App Stores->Apple ID->Sign out.
Repeat the process, for Facetime, Messages, Mail and any other App you need to sign out of.

  • The HTC One, It's Coming To Verizon!...

According to VZW @VZWnews on Twitter. The HTC One will be out later this summer.

Can't get anything out of Verizon customer service at the moment.  Did an online chat with one rep - he couldn't confirm the phone because it wasn't on the website.  Linked him to the article on BGR, and he said he'd check on a release date.  "Late August... according to Google."
Seriously?  They've "confirmed" and haven't spread the news to the reps who are clearly going to get hit with requests for dates, and the reps turn to Google?  That's shameful.

  • Compare an old report with the new one

    Hi,
i have saved a report in Answers. Then in my cube data are changed. In Answers i re-submit request and save new report with new data. Now I would compare two reports. But when i open old report, data shown are new. So I have two identical reports. How can I compare an old report with the new one? Thanks
    Giancarlo

ok then why don't you create two distinct reports but each with different filter value on the time column.
so that one report will give you old results. another report will give you new results.

  • Can you(VERIZON)please just release the HTC ONE details-

I mean..... this is ridiculous... is it August first. if not release that that info is false. your holding a press conference about the motos yet say NOTHING about this years top 2 phone which you still don't carry. it makes no sense... if it were not a PAIN IN THE BUTT to leave id be gone-. but ill tell you as 1000's of others have already done-. i'm getting close. the HTC ONE is my next phone-. not the MOTO N certainly not the S4....
    frustrated user.....

Yeah, VZW isn't making a great case for their new upgrade-my-phone-every-6-months plan when they aren't carrying the phones we all want and refuse to talk about it.
Actually, if you spoke with one of the service reps, you'll find out that your monthly bill is the same whether you buy a phone under contract ($199 up front), or if you buy the phone outright (around $700-$800).  You see they all would rather you buy the device yourself, because then they have NO cost invested in the phone, no subsidy.  I can only see in the future where NO carrier will subsidize a phone anymore.  You will have to buy your own phone and pay the same rate you're paying now to use it on their network.  Just think 100 million times $500 and you will see the extra profit they will rake in.  As you can see as one carrier does, they all do eventually.
Aren't mergers great!?   You know, they stated that the will be able to "save money", "provide better service" and they "could" then "pass those savings on to their customers"!  HAH!
Soon, there will be limited number of good phone available.  You'll have to pay full price for them.  But!!  You'll be able to buy a new one every 6 months and make the phone companies richer!!

"You have a warranty which states replaced with certified like new and not brand new."
This would be understandable and acceptable if it was for the fact that since day 1 we've been given broken phones.I refuse to pay full price for something that has been broken since the start.
I've spoken with HTC and received the "this issue hasn't been reported" statement and it pretty much went nowhere. One option was to send the device to HTC and wait for them to figure it out and send it back, but with no backup phone (turned in for credits) to use and my wife using this for work that's not a viable option.

Could be a bad cable or bad Thunderbolt port.

  • I made a mistake & loaded the version of Firefox (4) that my computer cannot support. Now I am unable to use it. How can I replace it with the latest one I had previously (3.6.20)?

It's my own fault. I was warned that my old iMac (running only on Tiger) was not capable of receiving Firefox 4. But I did an experiment and tried loading it anyway.
Now, a disabled version of Firefox, that I cannot open, is the only version of Firefox on my computer. I'm sure it made everything I was using on Firefox disappear!
Is there some way to replace this disabled version with the latest one I CAN support?

Downgrading from Firefox 4 to Firefox 3.6.20
    1. Visit ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/3.6.20/mac/
    2. Find your language and Open Firefox 3.6.20 folder
    3. Download and install Firefox setup file (3.6.20 dmg)
You’ll be automatically downgraded to Firefox 3.6.20 and your favorite add-ons, bookmarks and settings will remain untouched.
    thank you
