Why isn't Mountain Lion supporting Rocketfish enclosures?

I have a Rocketfish hard drive enclosure that worked until I upgraded to Mountain Lion.
Why no driver support for Rocketfish????
Please fix this Apple!

Why isn't Mountain Lion downloading? It shows up in Launch Pad and says it's downloading but nothng happens.

Depending on your connection speed, it could take anywhere from 1-8 hours to download.  It's a 4GB download.
On the average 3Mbps home network connection, it will take 3-4 hours to download.

The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed.
I don't get it, please help!
tip: Could it be because i recently signed in with another apple id in this computer??

Re: Corrupt Mountain Lion File @ App Store?

What worked for me - no restart required - after reading all these posts...
    1. Disable Virusbarrier X6 (Launch X6, go to preferences > advanced tab, and switch the big slider to 'off'.
    2. Launch the Console.app (in Applications > Utilities)
    3. Once Console launches, go to View > Clear display (this clears the screen, gets rid of the clutter)
    4. Launch the App Store, and try to buy Mountain Lion - you'll get the error message as before.
    5. Quit the App Store.
    6. Go back to Console - and open the folders of information displayed in the viewer window.
    7. In amongst all the gobbledegook text on screen is a parth to the var/folders/ directory. The folder you are looking for will have a name like d3 or zz (it differs on each machine).
    8. Once you know the name of the problem folder - go to the Finder, and choose 'Go to Folder' (Cmd-Shif-G)
    9. Type in /var/folders in the Go To Folder dialog and click 'Go'
    10. In the window that appears, you should see the folder you're looking for, and maybe 1 or 2 others.
    11. Drag the problematic folder out on to the desktop (you may need to authenticate to do this) and save this folder in a new folder - 'old var file' or whatever.
    12. Select the problematic folder from it's original window, and delete it - Cmd-Delete, and it disappears (but you have the backup copy, just in case. Apparently a new folder will automatically be re-created (by FInder or App Store) - so don't fret too much about removing this folder. And you can always copy your 'backup' back here, if there's a problem.
    13. Re-launch the App Store, and try purchasing Mountain Lion. For me - this now worked!
The above worked on a mid-2009 MacBook Pro. I tried a few other suggestions - e.g. re-installing the 10.7.4 combo update but it didn't make a difference. It certainly looks like VirusBarrier X6 is the culprit.
I am currently downloading Mountain Lion - but I did update X6 beforehand to the latest verison, which is supposedly 'Mountain Lion ready'. Once downloaded and installed, I'll go back to VirusBarrier and switch it back on.
    Good luck folks!

  • Is Mountain Lion Support Essentials the same as Mountain Lion?

Is Mountain Lion Support Essentials the same as Lion's? I have Lion but don't know if I need to buy Mountain Lion. Thanks.

Do you "need to buy" Mountain Lion?  No, you don't.  Should you buy Mountain Lion?  I certainly think so.
Here's one of the new features you'll get in Mountain Lion:
    Mac Basics: Notification Center
There are other new items that I cannot remember ... Mountain Lion has been out for seven months.
Applications tend to be updated to take advantage of the latest OS X features.  Why not stay current?

Does Mountain Lion support QuarkXpress 7.3?

  • Why isn't my browser supported?

One of the challenges of delivering desktop-quality software
inside a browser is, well, the browser itself. For more details on
our approach to browser support, its challenges, etc. please see
the posting on the Acrobat.com blog.
    http://blogs.adobe.com/acom
Browsers aren't all the same, and there is a fair amount of
work to get things working right, especially with keyboard
shortcuts and the clipboard. We've focused on the most common
browsers first: Firefox (Mac & Windows), Internet Explorer 6
    and 7, and Safari 3.
For example: We’d like to follow convention and provide
the typical Cmd-B shortcut to make text bold. However, Firefox on
the Mac uses Cmd-B to open bookmarks in the sidebar; so Buzzword
was forced to use Ctrl-B for making text bold.
    For
Firefox under Linux, we're providing limited support. We
have done some testing and we believe it works well, but we're
interested in your feedback. Please be sure to upgrade to the
latest Linux version of Flash Player 9 available at
    http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer,
and also be sure to adjust your preferences as described in the
initial page you'll see when visiting the application in Firefox
    under Linux.
Other browsers may work (Opera, Camino, etc.) to some extent,
but we can’t make assurances that all functions will work.
We appreciate hearing from users who want to give Buzzword a
spin under non-supported browsers, as it helps us focus our efforts
    and testing.

    Hi,
After trying Opera AND Firefox to post a reply to "Why isn't my browser supported?" I'm now using IE (7 not 8 - that's not working, too!). Maybe that's the first thing that should work in all browsers - the forum.
The second thing, and that's why I originally wanted to post something here, is that I had problems typing "&" and "/" in Opera. They don't seem to be at the same key as usual. (I have a german keyboard...):
    Shift + ^1234567890ß´
    Key (normal):   °!“§$%&/()=?`
    Key (buzzword): ^!@#$%^&*()ß`
Additionally everything seems a little bit slow...

    Ireen

Hopefully you have not updated to Mountain Lion, YET!
Quicken 2007 (either version) will ONLY accept data from Quicken 2006 or 2007.  For you, as a Quicken 2005 user, you must obtain a copy of the PowerPC version of Quicken 2006 or Quicken 2007 and that program will convert your Quicken 2005 data file to one that will open in Quicken 2007 for Lion.
Intuit, which formerly used to provide copies of Quicken 2006 or 2007 (PPC) for such purposes has gone MIA (consistent with OldMacFan's observation that Intuit does not want you to find the $15 upgrade page either! To find that link - I always have to Google "CNET Quicken 2007 for Lion" and in the first listed result, Topher Kessler's review of the program for CNET has the link!)
Consequently, go to this blog and post a comment for Ferd to send you a copy of Quicken 2006 or Quicken 2007 (PPC) and when you receive it, you must run it on a Mac that supports Rosetta and PPC software:
    http://thebestparts.net/2011/07/26/how-to-convert-an-older-quicken-data-file-to- use-on-mac-os-10-7-lion/
Then when you upgrade to Mountain Lion, your data file will open normally with Quicken 2007 for Lion/Mountain Lion.
If you have already upgraded to Mountain Lion and hence do not have access to Rosetta, let me know and I will give you further instructions.

  • Currently running Snow Leopard with iWeb will Mountain Lion support it?

Currently running Snow Leopard but wish to upgrade to Mountain Lian to support new iphone etc. Only problem being that I've just set up a small online page using iweb through an ftp server. will Mountain Lion support any changes that I make to my pages and can it then publish trhough the outside server?

iWeb is supported in Mountain Lion. That said you need not upgrade to ML to support new iPhone 5. What OS are you using? All you need is iTunes 11.

  • Will mountain lion support safari 5.1?

will mountain lion support safari 5.1?

I've done the SMC reset as well as the PRAM and NVRAM, no dice.
After going through Optoma's support just to make sure, it couldn't be anything with the projectors I called Apple and spoke with a Senior Advisor. Due to the fact that the VGA splitter works with my mid-2011 iMac, but not with the 2008 iMac his best guess is that the error must have something to do with the handshake protocols that allows the iMac to detect that there is something attached to the external display. Unfortunately there is no way to 'brute-force' the iMac to send video without receiving a handshake confirmation. The "Detect Displays" option only makes the iMac look for a display, but it won't send the signal without a response.
The option at this point is to either find a different splitter and try that, or downgrade the iMac to Leopard (which requires a full wipe and re-install.
Not the solution I had hoped to find, especially when the iMac, VGA splitter, projectors, and presentation software are individually listed as Mountain Lion compatable.

  • Does Mountain Lion support trim for SSDs? ...

I've been reading various forum posts and I find conflicting info. I did se several references to a tool called 'trim enabler.'
I have a late 2012 Mac Mini with Mountain Lion and installed a Samsung 830 SSD.
System Report shows that trim is not enabled for the drive. Does Mountain Lion support trim for these drives? How important is it to enable it?
    Thanks in advance,
    Chris

Apple does not support the 3rd party drives.  To enable it (without installing another software package), you can visit the website:
    http://digitaldj.net/2011/07/21/trim-enabler-for-lion/
I ran the series of commands on my Mac Pro and it did enable TRIM.
the webpage even has a backup/back-out procedure.
Without TRIM, my computer was running extremely slowly.  After enabling TRIM, my computer ran substancially faster.

  • Is Mountain lion support SAP on large Enterprises level

is Mountain lion support SAP on large Enterprises level?

SECOND FOLLOW UP TO MY "QUESTION" about Mountain Lion sleeping on the job after applying update to OS X 10.8.1.
In the event Apple Support staff is monitoring this discussion, this post is pertaining to a late model 2011 macbook pro primarily used for work for photo processing (RAW), video capture astrophotography with subsequent video editing and playback, picture/drawing creation and compilation, basic office functions such as accounting, spreadsheets, word processing and basic online activity.
Concerning this systems two specific issues and the one of shortened battery life affecting all other systems these are the resultant observations and recommendations for work arounds.
    1. System goes to sleep while downloading a file unatended resulting in long or failed downloads.
    No Improvement since update.
Workaround – I play a movie file while downloading, it's simple, it works, it's obvious on my desktop and doesn't involve installing more software or changing settings that can be forgotten.
    2. Garbled display when undocking from a cinema display requiring hard restart resulting in lost data.
Marginal Improvement since update – the application of the update to version 10.8.1 has improved but not eliminated the garbled display to a partially garbled display that can be salvaged by changing screen resolution.
Workaround – Open the lid and wait for the display to appear then undock.
    3. Short Battery Life
Marginal Improvement since update – battery life is approximately 10% longer on this machine.
Workaround – None, recharge more often.
Disposition – Mountain Lion 10.8.1 is still not worth upgrading to at this time.
Mountain Lion added a lot of nifty features that I have no interest in pertaining to my work.  I stick to a few basic programs I use which I need a Mac to run.  Given the shorter battery life, garbled display and the fact that the system shuts down while working unatended on a job this version OSX is not an improvement.

  • DOES MOUNTAIN LION SUPPORT MICROSOFT OFFICE 08?

When I upgraded to Mountain Lion I was unaware that it did not support MicroSoft Office 98. I'm on a budget so I am asking if Mountain Lion supports
    MicroSoft Office 08.
    Thanks for your responses.

Yes, Office 2008 will work, but it would be better to upgrade to Office 2011.
You can upgrade to Office 2011 - Mactopia - or you can try the freeware suite, Libre Office, that is functionally similar to Office 2007 for Windows except it works on Lion/Mountain Lion.
You may want to consider as well:
These two suites are similar to Libre Office but not as current or as well-supported:
    NeoOffice
    Open Office
And, then there is Apple's iWork suite:
Pages - word processing and layout
    Keynote - presentation
    Numbers - spreadsheet
Each can open and save Office compatible files. They may be purchased separately via the Mac App Store for $19.99 each.
As for other software, any PPC-based software will not run in Lion or Mountain Lion because Rosetta is no longer part of OS X. You will need to upgrade to Intel versions of the software.
(Access to the Mac App Store requires Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or higher and an Apple ID.)

I recently bought a Satellite E45-B4100 with Windows 8.1. I assumed it would be upgradeable to Windows 10, but it's not on Toshiba's "supported" list. Can I still get Windows 10? And why isn't this laptop supported????
