Why no podcasts from ITUNES?

Hi,
i am a new user of Ipod Touch and i really like it but i was very disappointed
in a couple of things:
1 - Why is it not possible to wach videos on any website except for youtube?
Will this problem ever be addressed?
2 - Why only music download from ITunes and not Podcasts or Videos?
I hope this issues will be addressed with future software updates...any plans?

1) You can in fact watch movies on the iPod touch via Safari, but they must be formated for iPod Video which is MP4. Apple offers free trailers from the iPhone version of the quicktime trailers page:

There are also several goolge videos on http://video.google.com/ that will work with the iPod Touch. Look for movies that have the Download for Sony PSP/Video iPod link. These are not the same videos that are youtube, so pay attention to the url in the search results.
2. I'm disappointed with the lack of podcast, movie and tv support from the iTunes Wifi store, but it's probably something that can be added later on once more and more people use the store to buy songs. I can't imagine apple NOT wanted to allow people to buy movies and tv shows from the iPhone and Touch. People who travel and use these devices for entertainment could drive a lot of sales to the wifi store, especially when stuck in an airport due to flight delays.

Help-cannot download podcast from itunes to ipod. error msg

I have the IPOD video 30gb, 5th generation, and have itunes 7.02..
I am able to download the podcast from itunes into my library, but am unable to download it onto my ipod. an error msg pops up:
"...was not copied to the IPOD because it cannot be played on this IPOD."
I've searched and searched for an answer to this, and it appears to be a somewhat common problem with the itunes upgradeto 7.02
does any one have a solution?!?

OMG-i just figured it out!!

Some video podcasts, while playable in iTunes, are encoded in formats that are not compatible with iPods. To convert those videos so that they are iPod-compatible, highlight the video in iTunes, right-click on the selection, and choose "Convert Selection for iPod". iTunes will automatically re-encode the video for playback on iPod. Go to the Movies section of your Library to find and play the converted episodes.
*i had converted the podcast previously, but i had just continued to try and transfer it from the podcast section rather than going to the movie's section, and dragging it from there. once i did that, it worked!

Any way to side load podcasts from iTunes to Podcast App?

I have not been able to figure out how to side-load podcasts from iTunes to the podcast app iPhone or iPad. On my iPad, I watch HD podcasts. They take FOREVER to download over wi-fi (and I have 6Mbs down, which isn't all that bad). The podcasts are in my Videos app. I am not sure why the podcast app doesn't pull from the ones already under the Videos app. Anyone figure this out?

Not quite the same in 10.6, but close enough to find it:
It's iTunes>apps, not iTunes>iPhone>apps. I didn't realize there were different windows.
Not double-click, but control-click. Close enough.

Deleting podcasts from iTunes library AND iPod?!? HELP.

I have 61 podcasts on my iPod and in my iTunes library.
I didn't want them anymore, so I unsubscribed and deleted the podcasts from iTunes.
I synced to my iPod, assuming that the files would be automatically removed.
But they weren't.
I've tried checking and unchecking "Sync only checked songs and videos" on the iPod device page.
I've tried checking "Sync all episodes of:.." and then not checking any podcasts.
It's not worked so far. My iTunes is up to date and everything..my iPod charged..
Im wondering HOW do you delete podcasts - or any other music, videos...etc - from your iPod and iTunes?
Please help! Reply soon, I'm in desperate need.

You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
It appears that the mess resulted in the iPod seeing the computer/iTunes library as a new computer/iTunes library. If you sync to a new computer your iPod gets erased and the media in the iTunes library ends up on the iPod.

How can I remove a podcast from iTunes if iTunes is locked up.

I added a password protected podcast and iTunes locks up on the authentication dialog. Spinning beachball... only thing I can do is force quit.
Earlier solution was to go in and manually disable podcasts with Xcode. but then i can't play any of my podcasts.
The recent itunes update fixed the problem, sort of. it allowed me to use itunes normally again. But, I tried to subscribe to the podcast agin and... yup, same thing.
How can I remove that podcast from iTunes without using iTunes to remove it?

If you've read the Technical Specification you will find that the nano can only use Firewire for charging, not for syncing:

So you can rule that out.

The iTunes Store does not host podcasts themselves, only links to them, so you can probably find a direct link to any given podcast by searching the web. Then you can see what terms the providers of the podcast has, if any, for who can access it.

Plug your iPhone into the computer USB and click on the phone icon on the left side of the screen. Then, on top of the screen, you will see a "podcasts" tab. Click it and you will see the opportunity to automatically sync all unplayed episodes, etc. You might need to select the directory to which you download the podcasts, but this should do it.

How do I get Podcasts from iTunes 11 to my iPod Classic?

I'm attempting to do something I've never done before which is transfer Podcasts from iTunes 11 to my iPod Classic (160GB). I tried for a couple of hours last night but I could find out how to download the Podcasts and then tranfer them to the iPod. The Podcasts I'm downloading come in at about 112 podcasts - They're are many but they are each rather small. I can't figure out how to make this work. I'd like to just download and transfer selected podcasts as for some reason when I try to find the podcasts I need others show up in the list too.

Why downloading movies from itunes slower than movies than netflix.

Yes, I had read about converting too..but...isn't it true that then you have TWO files of the same song...consequently twice as much space is taken up for the same song (one in the AAC format and one in the mp3 format)? It just seems to me that this adds unneccessary time (to make the conversion) and wasted space (2 files now instead of one). I guess to each their own, but it sure seems preferable to me to purchase right off the bat an mp3 file which does not need any conversion. And, isn't it also true that in the default Apple format, maybe it isn't "protected" per se...but I was certain I read that you could only use the file on 5 computers for personal use only...there certainly aren't any restrictions like that on mp3. I was only asking because I have accumulated funds in my itunes account and since I have many apps, I was just wondering if someone could convince me why I would want to purchase music from iTunes. Thank You.

having read several topics I am glad, but also sad, to know that I am not the only one having problems with submitting Podcasts onto iTunes. I have one which is still showing the 'Old' art cover, asked iTunes to remove and got nowhere, it is still there. Submitted it again this time with a New Art Cover and guess what it appeared 3 times all without the Art Cover ( it came up with the Purple Podcast art cover ), asked to get that removed and guess what --- it's still there, all linked to DEAD web links.
So here's my question, I have several Podcasts ( all for my University, until there Xserve is up and running ) on my DotMac account, HOW do I get everything removed from iTunes so that I can start all over again. I mean wipe the whole lot off iTunes - remove - kill, what ever !!!
I have even tried to follow the instructions on the iTunes 'Podcast Making' site on how to 'Remove' - guess what, you can't why I hear you ask because the instructions don't match up with what you see in iTunes/podcasts. See below the instructions from iTunes on how to remove:

Note the part "is mine and I want it removed from the Music store" This option does not appear in the "Choose a reason menu" . Have not iTunes/Apple noticed this little error.
So back to my question - How do I remove 'everything' ??
I use iWeb, submit to my DotMac account and then submit to iTunes/Podcasts.
Any help would be grateful.

IPod will no longer sync podcasts from iTunes store

Both our iPod and iPod Nano will no longer sync podcasts. We have downloaded new music, which will sync, but not the new podcasts from the iTunes store. iTunes indicates that it is syncing (which takes about 1 second) but the podcasts are not synced.
We have deleted all the existing podcasts and downloaded a single new one, with no change in the problem. We have tried both iPods and the result is the same.
We are running ESET NOD32 version 3.0 for Anti-Virus. We have checked with ESET and performed the exceptions that are known to cause problems with iTunes, and there has been no change, except that iTunes no longer freezes, which it previously did.
Hopefully someone out there can help us.

easiest way i have found to resolve the issue is go into itunes while phone is plugged in. you will have a list of tabs across, summery, info, ringtones, music. select music and where it displays sync music unselect that and hit apply in the bottom right (dont worry your music should be saved on the computer) once the sync is complete re check the music sync option. ive noticed this to work 95% of the time......hope this helps
