Why not a New Posts link

Other forums I belong to have a New Posts link on top of their page so one can see the most recent posts. Why not here?

    I am signed in in the HP Support Forum.
    I added the forum as a trusted site in my IE 8
    I need to post a question about Solution Center and my HP Scanner 5590.
    The Help systems says to click on the "New Post" Link near the top of the list.
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/forums/searchpage/tab/message?q=solution+center does not contain the mentioned link, nor does http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/forums/searchpage/tab/message.
    If I search for "New Post" in the page I get only one match and it is the link for private messages, not for public posts.
    What can I do?

    Hi SergioTorresC,
    The links you have given are to results pages for searches.  To make a new post, simply click "Home" at the top left of any forum page.  From this page, select the most appropriate location (forum) to post your issue.  For example, if your issue is with a Laptop, you want to look in the "Notebook Computers (Laptops)" section for the most appropriate forum, then click the link to enter it.
    The new post link will appear at the top left of each of these forum pages once selected.

  • Best way to add new post link

    What would be the best way to add a "new post" link on the main homepage that links to the appropriate blog page. Ideally, I'd like to put a small photo too.
    Is the only way to manually add it every time I update, or is there a better way?

    You can do it any number of ways. Link a shape, link text, or link a photo to the appropriate blog page, using the Inspector from the tool bar at the bottom of the iWeb window.
    You are correct that the only way is to manually update each time. I don't know of any method to get the blog entries to auto update an indicator on the Home page in iWeb.
    I have a site for a current project I'm on that has a "Shot of the Day" link on the Home page. As the site has gotten large, I have a duplicate of the Domain file for this site that contains nothing but this Home page. I update the page and then simply swap out the files on the server with the updated ones. Makes opening, editing, and saving the changes faster and easier than publishing the entire site each time. Here's an example of how I placed the link on the Home page...

    why we not use new when declaring a String .because in java String are treated as objects. we use new operator for creating an object in java .

    Strings aren't just treated as objects, Strings are Objects.
    As for why not using new for Strings, you can, if you want.:
    String str = "this is a string";
    and
    String str = new String("this is a string");
    do the same thing (nitty-gritty low level details about literals aside). Use whatever you like, but isn't it simpler not to type new String(...) since you still need to type the actual string?
    As for arrays, you can use new:
    int[] ints = new int[10];
    or
    int[] ints = { 0, 1, 2, 3, ..., 9 };
    But the difference here is you are creating an empty array in the first one, the second creates and fills the array with the specified values. But which to you often depends on what you are doing.

  • Forum Bug regarding not seeing new posts

    I've posted this here as many users are reporting forum issues where they will get a notification of a new post made to a thread but they cannot see it.
    This is a forum bug which Apple is aware of... and are trying to resolve but in the meantime here are two (somewhat impractical) fixes i have found...
    1) Open the forum on a different Mac or Apple device and the posts will show up... Go back to the original Mac or Apple device and they will not appear unless you make a new post in that thread yourself... after the missing posts.
    2) Post a new reply and then any posts made prior to your new reply will show up
    It is not a cookie related problem as cleaning out the cookies does not fix the issue  Its odd as if this is the case then how is this bug only specific to one Mac? Something must be tracking something, somehow but it doesn't appear to be via cookies....
    Quiting and restarting Safari nor restarting your Mac, doesn't fix it either...
    If anyone finds any other workarounds, please post them here....

    Yes I know that, but I was referring to another situation where I get a thread notification by mail, I open the thread and do not see the new message, I then sign in et voila here it is. And in my situation this has, until now, always worked.
    You have been lucky. I am signed continuously, but still most of the post are missing, when I go to them from an email notification. My "." key is rather worn out by now from using it to force posts to show

  • Why not Restore Ctrl-Leftclick Link to Open in New Tab?

    Between versions 22 and 24, ctrl-leftclick went away as a keyboard accelerator to open a link in a new tab.
    Now there are two ways: rightclick the link and pick a munu item to open in new tab, or middleclick the link.
    Rightclick and choose menu item is more difficult, as it requires actually looking at and reading the menu.
    Middleclick is not as easy or reliable for most people today since the middle mouse button is usually a wheel and difficult to click with any precision.
    I can see no reason why you shouldn't restore Ctrl-Leftclick to open a link in a new tab and lots of reasons why you should. Will you please do so?

    Yes, this is caused by their click tracking script. When you hover over a link, it looks normal, but:

    We've seen another site with this issue in the past, but it only affected a few links at the bottom of the page so it wasn't as annoying.
    Besides the two workarounds you're using (right-click, middle-click), you could strip those click trackers. Three possible approaches:
    (1) Find an extension that works on that site
    (2) Remove the tracking manually using a bookmarklet (a script you save to your Bookmarks Toolbar as a button)
    (3) Remove the tracking automatically using a userscript (a script that runs in the Greasemonkey extension or the Scriptish extension)
    Since anti-tracking extensions are pretty common now, you might check those. Please note that if they aren't coded carefully, they could stop links on some sites from working correctly.
    If you decide you're interested in a more tailored solution, you could request a userscript to be developed on this forum: [http://userscripts.org/forums/2 Ideas and script requests - Userscripts.org]. Please note that the site does NOT check scripts before they are posted, and takes forever to remove bad ones, so protect your personal information by not installing anything that touches Facebook and cast a skeptical eye on reviews.

  • Can´t find the ´ create a new post´ link

    I would like to post a question in the software category, but I can´t find the link to post a message. I know it is supposed to be on top of the category, but I don´t see it on screen. Why could be this?

    If you have a Technical question about Apple Hardware, Programs, Services, Technology, Software, Applications, Products, etc, from this page Discussions - Forum Home, select an appropriate Category from one of the sixteen divisions.
    For example, under Mac OS X Related Software, choose the Category Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger.
    On the page that opens, select a Forum, such as Installation & Setup, or Using Mac OS X Tiger.
    Most Category pages, have numerous Forums within them.
    But some may have only one, two, or three.
    For example, the Safari Category page, has three choices listed under Forum / Category:
    Safari For Windows
    Safari for Mac Support forum
    Safari 4 (Beta).
    And the Apple Remote Desktop Category, has only one Apple Remote Desktop Forum.
    From a Category page, select an appropriate Forum to post in.
    On Forum pages, there is an option to Post New Topic.

  • Adober Reader 8.1.2 will not open new page links to .pdf file

    Since upgrading to version 8, I cannot open a pdf file (from IE) if it opens in a new window. It opens local files, and links on pages that go directly to the pdf file, but not if the link opens the file in a new window. This means that I cannot open such things as my VISA statement, etc. What now?
    I have Windows XP on a Dell desktop. If it makes any difference, I also have Adobe Pagemaker 7.0 and Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0 loaded on this computer.
    I really need this to work.

    Nothing showed in the Event Viewer log. However, just to be thorough:
    1. I uninstalled reader 6.0.1 and rebooted. (all pdf became unassociated)
    2. I deleted any acr*.tmp anywhere on my computer.
    3. I deleted The 6.0 folder from the application updates path
    4. I deleted the 6.0 folder from my install path.
    5. I deleted the Adobe folder from my temp directory.
    6. I ran CCleaner, cleaned app files and registry and repeated.
    7. I rebooted and repeated step 6.
    8. I opened Event Viewer, backed up and cleared all events from the log.
    9. I installed 8.1.2 (all pdf became associated with Acrobat Reader)
    10. Under Event Viewer/Application the event log displays: Product: Adobe Reader 8.1.2 -- Installation operation completed successfully.
    11. Under Event Viewer/System the event log displays: The Windows Installer service entered the stopped state.
    12. I tried to launch: the shortcut, a pdf and the exe file.
    13. There are no additional events added to any level of the event log.
    14. There is no indication of activity from Reader in the Task Manager: Applications or Processes. It never appears in either.
    As a final note, I know the 8.1.2 install file is not corrupted because I copied it to another computer where it installed and runs just fine.

    Without processing a dimension the data should no go to the database. If you modify the the dimension and you want those new members in report you have to process that dimension. And if you save that dimension after modification its save the members in application sever. while retrieving the data it pick up from the database layer not from application layer, So the on fly calculation are  stored in application layer( Like conversion files, Transformation files, script logics and Member formulas). So if you want the new members in report you have to process. Its by SAP design it self.
    After modification of dimension no need to logoff and login every time. In order to avoid that option we have a anothe solution that is  Activate Metadata Cache option.
    In order to use that go to EPM--> User OPtions---> Activate metadata Option
    You can clear the metadata cache. When the cache is cleared, the structure of the data source you are connected to is synchronized with the structure copied locally; which means that the members of dimensions that have been added, modified or deleted in the data source are loaded.

  • My submit button on my PDF form is greyed out (will not work) after posting link to PDF on my WordPress website. It works in Acrobat Reader just fine.

    The PDF file was created in Acrobat 11, with a submit button. The submit button is actioned to send the form via email. It works perfectly by itself if the form is opened in Acrobat Reader, but once I upload the PDF to my WordPress site the submit button is greyed out, and will not complete the action to send on-click.
    How can I fix this please - can anyone offer advice?

    Yes. They need to download Reader and then disable Google Chrome's internal PDF viewer and enable Adobe Reader.
    FireFox should also be configured to use Adobe Reader and not the internal PDF viewer.
    The internal viewers are created to process PDF documents by not including the features and code to process PDF forms.

        Go to your forum of choice Main Page (this will become your 'Base Camp' page)
        click Login, which takes you to the Login page
        Browser Bookmark that Login Page
        click [Sign In]
            you are now logged in and have started a 'timer' in a set cookie
            you will be logged off without notice after ±30 minutes of inactivity
            clicking a Link that is NOT a JavaScript link resets the timer in the cookie
            I use a browser add-on that reloads the Base Camp page every 20 minutes = NEVER logged off by the timer
            - DO NOT close the TAB,    the AutoReloader is tied to the TAB not the page itself

        Switch to your email client or WebMail page**
        Click the link to Reply

    where did you come up with the "  ?view=discussions  " in the URL? I have never seen this advised... certainly not the plain ol' " /content " addition nor is it tt2's Magic Twangers. Are you trying to force something to happen that never will? It is a wonder you don't get a 404.Not Found error!!

  • Not able to post a new topic to Discussions Safari Safari for Mac

    Hi, I'm new to Apple Discussions, but not new to posting to forums.
    Currently I'm not able to post to Discussions>Safari>Safari for Mac. I can login, view all post threads, create and save a draft, preview the draft, but cannot post the draft to Discussions>Safari>Safari for Mac.
    However I am able to post to a different category; Discussions>Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger>Using Mac OS X Tiger. See posting "This is a test. Please do not reply to this post".
    When I try to post to Discussions>Safari>Safari for Mac I get pushed to another web link and system message as follows;

    Currently when I open the category Discussions>Safari>Safari for Mac, I see an error message that reads;

    I have searched for a link to "contact the system administrator", but cannot find it.
    I get around the Safari for Mac category error message by clicking on 'next' and it then displays the current threads.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is a bonus issue I'd like to resolve asap, to get to my original issue with Safari 4.1 crashing.
