Why won't apple allow current "AppleCare" holders upgrade to "AppleCare "? Doesn't this seem unfair for such a giant in the tech industry to not offer such an opportunity?

Sorry - not understanding. What do you mean by "upgrade"? When you purchase an Apple Product, you get AppleCare automatically - 90 Days of Telephone Support, and a 1-Year Warranty.
You can then purchase an AppleCare Protection Plan for Mac, iPod, and Apple TV, or AppleCare+ for iPad or iPhone.
AppleCare Protection Protection Plans can be purchased any time within the 1-year warranty period.
Apple+ must be purchased within 30 days of purchase.
AppleCare Protection Plan extends the warranty to 3 years for Macs, and to 2 years for Apple TV and iPod.
AppleCare+ extends the warranty to 2 years for iPad and iPhone.
There is no "upgrade"....You either purchase the extened warranty protection plan or you don't. And unlike most extended warranty plans, you are NOT required to purchase it at the time you purchase your Apple product.
What's the beef here?

  • Why won't Apple allow Verizon to let me upgrade from an Android phone to an iPhone 5 early at the reduced price?

Why won't Apple allow Verizon to let me upgrade from an Android phone to an iPhone 5 early at the reduced price?

Here's one of my responses from Verizon:
    Dear Kevin,
Good Afternoon; I know how frustrating it is to want a new phone, and be told that you are not eligible to upgrade early. My name is Shane, and I will be assisting you today regarding your most recent email.
I am sorry to say that it is not possible for us to do the upgrade. We most certainly don’t want to lose a valued customer, but we can’t break our contract with Apple. If we did this for you, we would have to do it for everyone. If we did this for everyone we would risk losing our contract with Apple, and not be able to sell iPhones at all. I understand it is a savings to cancel your contract with us, and move to another provider we certainly don’t want you to do that, but that is an option for you.
Kevin, I am sorry that we were not able to give you the resolution you were wanting. I do appreciate you being a valued Verizon Wireless customer, and I hope you have a good day!
    Sincerely,
    Shane

  • Why won't Apple allow an app like Covenant Eyes to monitor internet activity on the Safari browser on iOS?

Why won't Apple allow an app like Covenant Eyes to monitor internet activity on the Safari browser on iOS?

Yes, that is the app.  It is used to monitor your internet activity, but because Apple won't allow an app like Covenant Eyes to monitor the Safari browser or any other browsers the Covenant Eyes app has to be its own browser which causes some issues.  You can't click on a link and have it open because the iOS tries to open Safari by default when you do that.
I'm just wondering if there is anywhere on Apple's website that discusses this type of thing, why they don't allow an app like Covenant Eyes to monitor the Safari browser.  The Covenant Eyes program for Macs will monitor internet activity on the computer.

  • HT202636 How is it that apple allows you to permanently delete photos, but not books. Some books are a blight, and one has buyer's remorse, and they should be obliterated? Why won't Apple allow this to happen? We can do it with photos? And iI think music?

I want, for whatever reason, to be able to permanently delete, not just hide, books and PDFs from my iCloud? Why won't Apple let me? Beg pardon from Apple if I'm mistaken, but don't think so.

I own the movies and I want them to stay in my iTunes library basically forever.
But in both cases the file name no longer shows in the movie list, so I don't know how to re-download it from the Cloud.
iTunes prefs > Store > Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases.
This will show all your iTunes purchases in your library with a cloud icon down arrow. Click the icon to redownload or click on Play to stream without downloading.
Also see this , -> Download past purchases
and techncially, you don't "own" the movie, You simply have a license to use it.
Yet the first thing iTunes does when you hit the delete key is tell you that it will remove the movie forever from all devices and the library.
Actually, no it does not tell you that.
FYI: You should keep copies of all yoru iTnue spurahses as the labels/movie studios/copyright owners can pull their product at anytime and it won't be available to redownload.

  • Why won't apple allow me to revert to iOS 5?

I trusted Apple and upgraded to iOS 6. It has too many problems for me to use.  But now I find out I can't restore to an older version.  Why not?
    With iOS 6:
    1. The map application does not work properly or consistently.  It also shows all streets in Greek, instead of in English, as is set in my Settings.
    2. The google maps application is also not reliable.  I often lose the map if I try to zoom in or out.
    3. Podcasts can no longer be viewed/played in iTunes. But there have been no improvements made in the new Podcast app.  In fact, I can no longer see the "scrubbing" timeline that let me know how much playing time had passed, or let me move backward or forward in the podcast. And if I play the first podcast in a list, it plays that one podcast and stops.  Why can't it automatically move to the next podcast?  Only if I start from an older podcast will it move to a new podcast.  Why can't I control that behavior?  When I'm driving, I want to listen, not fiddle with my iPhone.
    4.  I cancelled an email message and tapped, "Save to Drafts". Instead of saving, the message was lost (drafts are set to save locally to my iphone).
    5.  I tried to send an email while not connected to a network.  With older versions of the iOS, such messages would be saved to the Outbox and sent automatically the next time I am connected to a network, which is perfect.  This time, I heard the little "swoosh" sound of  sent message.  But the message was gone -- not sent, not in my sent folder (again, set to save locally), not in my outbox.  Just gone.
But the MOST annoying part of this entire experience is that I just went through the entire Restore process, blithely believing I could return to an older version until the bugs had been ironed out of iOS 6.  Instead, I am now "restored" to iOS but have lost all my settings on my iPhone.  Even though my settings were first saved to the iCloud, I was not given the option of restoring from the cloud. Instead, I was restored from an older version on my laptop.  Either way, none of my customizations were restored.  The icons are not arranged properly, my settings are gone, my email accounts were wiped out.  What's the point of backing upa nd restoring if I don't get any of that back?  I am very frustrated.
    Debbie

Backing up and restoring is not the same as downgrading.
Apple have stopped signing 5.1.1 which is why you can't downgrade.

  • Why won't Apple allow WiFi sync'g of iOS devices on PowerPC Macs running OS 10.5.8 and latest iTunes?

Another note, I can't believe that after all of this time with the new discussion boards, you still can't edit posts from any of Apple's iOS devices.
I posted this on my iPAd and had to just edit this from my Mac because I accidentally posted this question before I finished.
    Royal Pain!
    Message was edited by: MichelPM

My Mac connects to the Internet via WiFi through a WifI card. I am running OS X 10.5.8 and the latest update of iTunes to find that Apple has (I think) artificially, not allowed sync'g of iOS devices on 10.5.8. This option is greyed out and says for OS 10.6 and above only.
Why impose this limit if we Leopard users can still use the latest version of iTunes and have WiFi capabiltity to do so?

  • Why won't Apple allow us to have custom tones for text msgs?

Honestly my biggest gripe about the phone. The iPhone is so popular it ***** when I'm in public and hear that text msg tone go off and look at my phone only to find out it's someone elses phone! Allow custom tones for text msgs just like are avalible for ringtones!

I agree. Submit the feedback to Apple as I did.

  • Why won't Apple give out the unlock code for an iPhone 3Gs when the contract was honored and I am still an AT

Why won't Apple give out the unlock code for an iPhone 3Gs when the 2  year contract was honored and I continued to be an AT&T customer with an iPhone 4. I wanted my old 3gs unlocked so my daughter could use it overseas when she is deployed. AT&T service over there *****, the international plan was not worth it. The individual SIM cards per country are much more reliable and cheaper. Teslestial in Iraq and Afghanistan, Telecom in Croatia,Vodafphone in Germany and Italy.  Why Apple will not unlock these phones for our military to utilize is incomprehensible to me.  These young men and women are fighting for these Apple people to go to work every day, safe, to live lives they have become accustom to yet releasing a phone to use on another network they can't do at least for the military.... WHY APPLE??  WHY?   A good excuse not some of the many lame excuses I have received on the phone many times. AT&T states it is Apple that will not allow them to unlock the phones...  Please tell me why?  All I want Is my daughter to have a phone I trust, to be able to call me when she is given the free time to do so and I trust the apple phone.
Apple, please reconsider your stance on this issue.  I am having a hard time understanding why you will not unlock the iPhone.
A simple code could allow me to talk to my daughter while fighting for our country the Great USA.  Apple should be on the front line and enabling those fighting for our life, liberty and pursuit of happiness to use unlocked phones on reliable local GSM networks.
I honestly hope that someone who has some sort of authority to begin allowing the release of unlock codes, and not forcing people to unlock their phones with some program produced by some hack just to be able to use your wonderful phone.  That is is in a nutshell, People love the iPhone so much that they want the ability to use it on the most reliable GSM carrier available to them.  That should be a major compliment. Even men and women on the front line want your phone. I agree, my service is not the best where I live either, love the GSM technology so stay with it, but if I had the ability to change to the other GSM network that has much better coverage in this area of the country I would change. To change now I would not have my iPhone and that I will not part with.
Apple, please reconsider opening up the lock code and allow your gem of a phone to be used by many more people in many more areas and most importantly overseas fighting for our country.  I know if this is really thought about Apple would understand and come to the conclusion to release the unlock codes, and stop the people from hacking in to use the iPhone on other networks.
I would love for my daughter to be able to use my iPhone 3gs while fighting for our Free country.
    A response would be appreciated.
    Thank you.
An Apple customer for 10 years, phones and computers.

    Defiled:
I did sign a two year contract and completed that contract. The 3gs is no longer in service. My daughter is going overseas to protect you and your family. I was attempting to find a way for her to have a reliable phone that could offer her some connection with home as she travels through the middle east.  She travels in missions all over.
At&T unlocks other phones of theirs why not the iPhone?  AT&T says that Apple will not give them the code, it is not the carrier.  If I would have known this situation would have come up I would have bought and unlocked 3gs phone"Deggie" .  My main complaint is that Apple has not good excuse as to why they will not allow their phones to be unlocked from services well, AT&T .  I bought the phone full price, completed the contract terms, even went for and iPhone 4 with another2 year contract, along with owning an apple computer... I love the product.  My main issue is give me a good answer as to why you won't allow a phone to be unlocked. It doesn't hurt Apple, People still have to buy the phones from them, and use their App store and iTunes.
Sorry, just upset about my daughter heading over there, boots on the ground, and just pray she will be safe. Would have liked to facetime her while she is in the airports and in specific areas allowed for that.
Please don't come down on me for asking this question. I understand all the contracts etc.... but to single out the iPhone specifically to not unlock after contract is over does not seem fair.
    Thank you for your responses.

  • Why won't Apple Mail utilize addresses from Apple Contacts ?

Why won't Apple Mail utilize addresses from Apple Contacts ?
Some of the people in my contacts have multiple e-mail addresses.   Using contacts from within Apple Mail I can see these e-mail addresses.  I then select the e-mail address I need to use and it is highlighted in blue.  However, when I drag that e-mail address into the e-mail it uses the first e-mail address on the list and does NOT use the one that is highlighted.
This worked perfectly with good old Snow Leopard. Why doesn't it work now?  What is the procedure for selecting an e-mail address that is not the first one in contacts ?

To see if there's a recovery volume installed reboot with the Option key held down and see what volumes are shown that you can book from.  If there is a recovery volume it will be displayed.  The arrow keys can be used to moved to the desired volume and the Enter or Return key to start the boot.
Yes I did that. I don't no why, but I have no recovery volume.
However, I do have mavericks on a USB flash drive. I booted from the flash drive and followed your procedure.  This did not fix my Mail problem.
I notice now that after I drag an e-mail address into the header there is a small down arrow next to the incorrect e-mail address, this allows me to choose from a small group including the correct e-mail.  I'm just wondering, perhaps this Is the way Apple Mail works in Mavericks.

  • Why won't apple give Ting the iPhone?

Why won't apple give Ting the iPhone?

Ting is a "MVNO", a virtual network provider; basically, they're a reseller of Sprint's cellular network, only with way, way, better pricing than basically anyone else. They don't do "contracts", and they don't charge separate fees for everything. So if you had five phones on an account, you'd pay $6/phone, plus a single fee for all the data. No $20-per-line "data plans". If I moved my current six phones (including friends and family) to Ting, I'd pay about 70% less per month for cell service... But I'd have to buy the phones up front. Which I'd do, but I have a couple people who want iPhones, and Apple-or-Sprint (it's not clear which) is not willing to let Ting do them.

  • Why won't Apple give an update on why SIRI has crashed?

why won't Apple let us what is going on with SIRI, it's clearly a HUGE issue for people like me who have had an iPhone since day 1 five years ago and who have waited for them to get this phone right, the very least they could do is let us know what the issue is and what they are doing to resolve it. Not to mention my new phone for some reason doesnt pick up as good as the last phone, does anybody else have this issue??

    All sales are final
This has alwasy been the case.
On rare occasions, Apple will allow an exception

  • Why does't apple allow you to read your iBooks library over the web from a browser or me account?

Why does't Apple allow you to read your iBooks library over the web from a browser or me account? I have time to read during the day via a browser, but not by Ipad or Iphone. I love the features that iBook offers, but I have had to settle for Google books which is slow to upgrade its features. I just want to be able to highlight, copy and past and make notes and also have the option to read a book in a browser like google books.

Wow.. I'm almost sorry that you spent so much time writing that post.
Unfortunately, it would have much more impact if it were true.
Just because you don't know how to do something... that doesn't mean it can't be done.
I do what you say can't be done every day.
You just need to put your iPod into manual update mode, and everything will be fine. You songs won't be greyed out, and you can play them with no trouble at all.
So, next time you need help with something, just ask for help and we'll help you. It'll certainly make yourself look less foolish this way.
Ranting and bashing Apple for no reason isn't going to win many people over.

  • HT1338 Why won't itunes allow me to update my iphone 3gs to ios 5?

Why won't itunes allow me to update my iphone 3gs to a later version?

First, confirm that you really do have an iPhone 3GS and not a 3G:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3939
If you really do have a 3GS, make sure you have the latest version of iTunes, 10.7, on your computer.
    Regards.

  • Why won't iTunes allow my iPhone 5 and iPhone 6 to play 176.4/24 AIFF files created in December of 2014 and January of 2015, but will allow my iPhone 5 and iPhone 6 to play 176.4/24 AIFF files created before December of 2014?

When I buy and download high resolution music files (FLAC and DSD), I convert them to AIFF files and add them to my iTunes music library.  Specifically, I have been converting DSD64 files to 176.4/24 AIFF files.  These AIFF files (modified in some respects by iTunes) have been synched to my old iPhone 5 and new iPhone 6.  Until December, every 176.4/24 AIFF file played as expected.  In December, I purchased two DSD64 albums, which I converted to 176.4/24 AIFF files using AudirvanaPlus 1.5.  These 176.4/24 AIFF files will not play on either iPhone.  When I converted those DSD64 albums to 88.2/24 AIFF files, they played on both iPhones.  In December, I also purchased several 192/24 FLAC albums and converted them to 192/24 AIFF files using Amarra HiFi.  These 192/24 AIFF files play properly on both iPhones.
Why won't iTunes allow my iPhone 5 and iPhone 6 to play 176.4/24 AIFF files created in December of 2014 and January of 2015, but will allow my iPhone 5 and iPhone 6 to play 176.4/24 AIFF files created before December of 2014?

I have a similar problem and have spent three sequential days at the Apple Genius Bar before we were able to exclude most other possibilities and found that certain files (in my case all mp3s from CDs I own) that play just fine in iTunes 11.0.1 and that used to play in iOS 6.0.1 do not play in iOS 6.1. We restored the phone to factory settings and synced only a few of the music files that were problematic. They still did not play. We reproduced the problem on my iPad mini (iOS6.1).
Apple Telephone Support suggestion was to convert all mp3 files in iTunes to AAC (which according to Apple Website may degrade sound quality). No further suggestions or escalation but a recommendation to place comments on www.apple.com/feedback and, if there are enough complaints, someone at Apple might take an interest in this problem. Something has changed in iOS 6.1 where files that played on prior mobile system software no longer work.
Apple, please pay attention to this glitch with iOS 6.1.

  • Why won't Apple register the serial number for my ipod?

Apple won't register the serial number for my ipod purchased at a Walmart.  Also noticed there is no settings icon in the upper left corner and can't connect to my own internet connection at home.  Any suggestions?

Purchased new.  Did not try to register thru iTunes.   Just wanted to  hook up via my wi-fi connection at home.  Why won't Apple register my serial number without hook up to iTunes?
