Widget state amnesia

I have four tabs, they each have the same set of states, all of them look fine in design view but when I preview or publish them only three of them display the states correctly, the other seems to be stuck on the Normal state. Alongside this, when I select any of the other tabs they lose their rounded corners. I've tried moving the tabs to a different location on the bar to force Muse to refresh, removing and reapplying the styling completely; nothing seems to work.
The page in question is here: http://htcie.businesscatalyst.com/downloads.html
Initially, the 'Project images' tab should be active but shows up as normal and has no other states; if you click on the other tabs, they lose their corners.
Has anyone else had this issue and know of a fix; other than trashing the widget and starting afresh?

I don't know if this is a similar problem - but it certainly looks like it from the loss of the rounded corners. When I was working with the accordian widget in the Koffee Kart tutorial I had similar irregular state behaviours. I had set the Three Speed Blend tab state to normal on the accordian and set up the text frame padding to 70, yet when I pressed the button it would display the mouse down state which had a dark grey background with the text padding to 8. It would stay like this until I clicked another tab, then it would revert to its "normal" state.
I have no idea what fixed it, but I deleted (pressed the trash can icon) while the "Normal (active)" state was highlighted. I then went to the mouse down state and set the text padding and fill to be the same as the normal state. I had to do this for all of the tabs because they were all acting rather strangely. It looked to me like when I set the normal state of the tab, it didn't update the parameters on rollover or mouse down to say they were the same as the normal state - therefore rollover and mouse down had kept the unedited properties of the normal state.
Confused yet? Haha So, I didn't have this issue when using the accordian on Katie's Cafe - and that used the "Edit Together" function, whereas Koffee Kart required this option to be unchecked...
Again - not sure if this is the same or similar issue that is causing you to lose the rounded corners formatting, but it certainly looks like it.

  • Menu Widget States on Sub Pages?

    Quick question:
    how do I preserve states while on sub pages within a navigation structure?
    for example:
    site has 4 pages: home, services, portfolio, contact
    page services has 4 sub pages: A, B, C, D.
    Menu widget links to top level navigation, providing 4 buttons.
    when on ../site/services the active state is present
    but, then on .../site/services/C the active state is gone.
    menu is located in the master page.
    i would like it so that when i visit ../site/services and then any subsequent subpages, the menu active state is preserved until i move to another top level page (home, contact, etc).
    Your insight is appreciated.

    Hello,
    If the A,B,C,D pages are child pages (sub pages) to the "services" page that is appearing as the top level page for these four pages, then changing the menu type from "Top Level Pages" to "All Pages" should do the trick and the top level page should stay on the active state while it's sub pages are visited.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi Dave
    Widget states are grouped into three categories as Listed below
    Operational States
    1. FS_UPDATE ( same as FS_ENABLE, FS_ENABLED )
    2. FS_QUERY
    3. FS_VIEWONLY
    Passive States
    1. FS_DISABLE( same as FS_DISABLED )
    2. FS_INACTIVE
    3. FS_INVISIBLE
    Selectable States
    1. FS_DRAG
    2. FS_EXPAND
    3. FS_HORZMOVE
    4. FS_HORZSTRETCH
    5. FS_MOVE
    6. FS_MOVEANDROUTE
    7. FS_ROUTE
    8. FS_STRETCH
    9. FS_VERTMOVE
    10. FS_VERTSTRETCH
    Drawable States
    1. FS_MARKLINE
    2. FS_MARKPOINT
    3. FS_MARKPOLYLINE
    4. FS_MARKRECTANGLE
    You can get more details about each of these and their
    relavance in Display Library Manual. Usually you will be
    interested only in Operational and Passive states.

  • Is it possible to force links inside a custom widget to open in Safari instead of within the widget?

    I'm just starting to get into working with iBooks Author, so apologies in advance if this is a FAQ.  I've search the forum and the web but haven't been able to find an answer.
    I'm trying to link out to an external resource from within a custom widget I've created.
    Instead of opening in Safari, the link is opening within the widget overlay.  There are no browser controls, the content doesn't scroll and there's no way to get back to the widget's original content without closing and reopening the book.  Closing and reopening the widget doesn't reset the widget state.
    I can work around this if I have to, but I'm hoping someone here has a solution.

    I'm looking for an answer to this too. I found that you can do this in a normal Dashboard widget with widget.openURL("...") but for whatever reason the openURL method isn't available in iBooks. Still looking for a solution...

    Thanks for sending me the technote, but look at the part I cut
    out of
    this technote and placed at the bottom of this message. It kind
    of
    proves my point. You can change a single cell's color, but not
    it's
    state. Hence, you can't make a cell invisible while leaving the
    other ones visible, which was the problem presented in the first
    message of this thread.
    it does work and there is a forte technote with sample codeavailable
    on the
    forte web site

    way,
    but you can't change widget state.
    [Pascal Rottier]
    You can use this example to manipulate the visual behavior of
    a cell in an
    arrayfield, ie. its appearance (color, bold, highlighting,
    etc.), but
    not its functional behavior such as cell state. If you want
    to change
    the cell's functional behavior, you must set it for the entire
    column
    via the template field.

    Okay, lets put an end to all this confusion. There are two ways to get
    to a single cell in an arrayfield.
    1) <ArrayField>.BodyGrid.GetChildInCell(row,column)
    2) for aWgt in <ArrayField>.BodyGrid.Children do
    if aWgt.Row = row
    and aWgt.Column = column then
    -- This is the one.
    end if;
    end for;
    The first one is only available in Forte 3 (and higher). The second
    one will work in all versions of Forte (I've never used Forte 1, so
    maybe it won't work there).
    Once you have the right widget, you can treat it like any other
    widget. Change it's color, inputmask, sizepolicy, size, state, what-
    ever.
    However, if the widget you found came from the bodygrid of an
    arrayfield and you change the state of the widget, nothing happens.
    The widget will always have the same state as it's template field.
    If you want to change the state of a widget, you have to change
    the state of it's templatefield, which will cause all widgets in that
    column to change to a new state.
    That is my experience with Forte 2. Maybe in Forte 3 it does
    work. The sample code supplied by Forte clearly states it is
    not possible to change the state, but this code also states it
    is intended for Forte 2. The sampe code supplied by some-
    one who had no problem changing the state of a cell in an
    arrayfield also included the method GetChildInCell, which would
    suggest he uses Forte 3.

  • Re: ArrayField FieldWidget.State

    Hello Joseph,
    you get old. You don't see additional lines of code which makes
    the whole ArrayField FS_UPDATE and FS_INACTIVE. After this lines the
    original state of every widget is overridden :-) .
    Sorry for this unnecessary questions and answers :-))))

    Dependent on a flag in the array i would set the (e.g.) 6th field-state to
    FS_INACTIVE or FS_UPDATE. To do this with an normal DataType like
    DecimalNullable worked well. I use:
    specialField : FieldWidget;
    for row in 1 to ....
    specialField=af.BodyGrid.GetChildInCell(row=row,column=6); // Get the widget
    end for;

    if flag[row] then
    specialField.State=FS_UPDATE;
    else
    specialField.State=FS_INACTIVE;
    end if;
    But now i need a virtual attribute of type integer instead of the
    DecimalNullable and i implement it well. But now the mechanism to set the
    usage-state does not work anymore.
    1.How do you implement ArrayField's with field-dependent state's ?
    I use also the same mechanism to set the NextTabField and PrevTabField
    property but if a widget is outside the visible grid there is no chance to do
    this.
    2. Have someone implement a special Prev-/NextTabField attribute
    written which is able to set the Prev-/NextTabField also outside the visible
    part of the ArrayField? (To slide within tool-code down and up does not
    help. The last setting on a slided AF is the general setting for the others.
    Maybe the MatrixField is the problem).

    Xavier,
    Create a method called GetWidgetState on your window which contains
    the following:
    GetWidgetState(w:fieldwidget):
    if w.state = FS_USAGESTATE then
    return w.GetStateForUsage(self.window.usage);
    else
    return w.state;
    end if;
    By default, a widget state equals FS_USAGESTATE(0) which is the
    state set in the window workshop for the particular window usage.
    Unless you specifically change the state, it will always be 0 and you
    have to fetch the actual state using GetStateForUsage on the widget.
    Hope this helps.

    My question is why did my application die and need to be restarted after this one simple route was added? What is the expected behavior in a zone after adding a new route to the root zone?

    Greg- Dreamweaver CS4/Live View integration with BrowserLab allows you to send interactive states of a local site/design directly to BrowserLab (dynamic data, rollover/mouse interaction states, widget states, et al), and from behind firewalls no less- definitely a scenario we covered.  You can get the extensions (which require Dreamweaver CS4, of course) up on the Labs site: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/browserlab/

  • RE: DropLists in ArrayFields - is it possible to have adifferent sele

    Richard;
    Here you go....
    newList : Array of ListElement = new;
    { add elements }
    row : Integer = { get your row };
    column : Integer = { get by name or just know the number }
    // poof! Watch that down cast!
    (DropList)(<arrayField>.BodyGrid.GetChildInCell(row,column)).SetElementList(
    newList);
    You can also change FieldWidget settings....
    <arrayField>.BodyGrid.GetChildInCell(row,column).FillColor =
    C_BLUE;
    My array field doesn't scroll (lucky me!). See if the AfterFieldScrolled
    event fires at the right time to recalculate the widget state. I haven't
    played with it and I'm far from a Forte GUI guru, but I suspect that you are
    altering the column template and the visible widget is separate from the
    data. So as you scroll, the data would scroll but the new settings stay
    put. That's not what I would want/need. The widget reflects something
    about the data. When the data scrolls, so should the presentation
    properties!
    What may be needed is to somehow derive the presentation state settings
    dynamically from the mapped data. So when the data scrolled, the dynamic
    settings change on the new presentation row.
    Let me know.....

    I have a DropList in an ArrayField column. Is it possible to have a
    different list of selections for each DropList in a different row?
    (ex.
    DropList #1 in row #1 can choose from a/b/c, whereas a DropList #2
    in row
    #2 can choose only from d/e/f, etc.) Technote 4996 seems to imply
    that it
    isn't possible, and everything I've tried so far has failed as well.
    Any insight appreciated.

    One way to do this is to get at the specific dropList widget in the
    arrayField by calling the getChildInCell(Row,Column) method on
    <..theArrayField..>.BodyGrid. This widget can then be assigned any
    dropList you want. Depending on the uniqueness of the individual
    dropLists, each data row specific dropList can be coded as an attribute
    (array of ListElement) on the mapped class, which can then be assigned
    to the dropList widget.
    A code snippet to do this would be -
    method refreshArray
    begin
    for displayRow in 1 to <myArrayField>.VisibleRows do
    dataRow : integer = displayRow + <myArrayField>.TopRow - 1;
    myDropListWidget : dropList =
    dropList(<myArrayField>.BodyGrid.getChildInCell(displayRow,
    <..columnNumOfDropList..>));
    myDropListWidget.setElementList(myArrayField[dataRow].myElementList);
    end for;
    end method;
    This method has be called only when the user scrolls the arrayField, as
    in -
    when <myArrayField>.AfterFieldScrolled do
    refreshArray();
    Hope this helps.
    Prashant.

    ArrayField and state of child

    Subject: ArrayField and state of child
    I got this problem:
    I want the array fieild to show the elementa of some columns depending on a
    boolean attribute of the mapped class:
    if true col 6 and 7 (datafield) will be invisible an col 5 visible and vice
    versa.
    Col 5 is a scrolllist so I need to populate each time the widget with
    different data.
    Everything functions well (htanks to the help found on the list) but I see
    a strange quirk:
    When I set to true two consecutive rows and then I scroll the arrayfield
    the widget of col 6 and 7 that were invisible
    pop up (only on one of the row), they are just a dirty paint as they cannot
    be selected (but show the hidden data)
    Any suggestion on this.
    I use R3.f
    Here is a code fragment of the method
    The array field has 5 rows
    Method popProv just populate the scrolllist with the array of listelement
    passed as parameter.
    mw1 : fieldWidget;
    mw2 : fieldWidget;
    mw3 : fieldWidget;
    myRow : integer = 1;
    for i in <arfProc>.TopRow to <arfProc>.TopRow + 4 do
    mw1 = <arfProc>.BodyGrid.GetChildInCell(myRow ,5);
    mw2 = <arfProc>.BodyGrid.GetChildInCell(myRow ,6);
    mw3 = <arfProc>.BodyGrid.GetChildInCell(myRow ,7);
    if arfProc.codFilter then
    mw1.State = FS_UPDATE;
    popProv(PI_sclProv = ScrollList(mw1),
    PI_arrPr = arfProc[i].arrProv);
    mw2.State = FS_INVISIBLE;
    mw3.State = FS_INVISIBLE;
    else
    mw1.State = FS_INVISIBLE;
    mw2.State = FS_UPDATE;
    mw3.State = FS_UPDATE;
    end if;
    myRow = myRow + 1;
    end for;

    Dave,
    FS_VIEW etc. aren't text values, they're integer constants which
    you can check out in DisplayProject. The one you want looks to
    be FS_VIEWONLY, which is equal to 2.
    All my best,

  • Why are my images not showing up?  Worked fine before yesterday...

    First, Happy Thanksgiving!
    I use iWeb for my photography business (www.rosiejohnsonphotogaphy.com). All has worked fine until yesterday. Now the images on my linked pages are not showing up. They are imported from iPhoto. Now one image is at the top (it is not imported from iPhoto) and at the bottom of the page is this "comments widget". I swear that I did nothing to my website yesterday - didn't even have iWeb open.
    Any ideas why this is happening??
    Thank you in advance!
    For clarity, here is the actual web address:
    URL: web.mac.com/rosie_johnson

    Wyodor,
    Thank you for taking a gander. I mistyped: www.rosiejohnsonphotography.com. Must have not had enough coffee at that point....
    So I checked my website from our other computer (not the one I use to update it) and all images loaded and looked fine. I then tried it from this computer (the only one used to update the website) and no pictures! Why is this?! I think it has something to do with this "comment widgets" statement at the bottom of each web page and the RSS box at the end of the web address bar. Any ideas how to fix this and get it back to where it was working would be appreciated!
    Thank you.

  • Captions and Buttons for Captivate 5.5 Templates

    I can't seem to find the buttons or captions from the templates in Captivate 5.5 so I can edit them (change the color).  Does anyone know where they're located?  For example, design5_correct_caption or design5_submit (from the Black_and_white.cptx template).
    Thanks.

    Hello and welcome,
    Did you see the Help? And that is certainly not a complete documentation. How do you want to see such a list for an application that has that many features?
    In the Help you'll certainly find an answer about SCORM supported (1.2 and 2004) and the templates used in 6 are improved ones. Types of questions you'll find in the Help easily (didn't change that much) but the extended features like Branch aware, partial scoring, remediation, Submit all, pretest, penalties you'll have to look a bit further. No games, nor mathematical equations included except the Wordgame Interaction in Captivate 6. With Advanced actions you can have the 4 primary mathematical operators, but no functions are available.
    I published some lists on my blog (Effects, Widgets, Statements in Advanced actions, System variables), with more details, use cases and tips. Perhaps not what you are looking for?

  • Accordian Action: IE8: Bouncing

    I am very new to designing with Spry and have been watching training videos for help.They have been very helpful and I have learned a lot of workarounds for certain issues. However, I have a problem I can't resolve.
    I have added an accordian widget with nested tabbed panel widegets inside the content panels. So: US Regions (accordion widget)>States (tabbed widget)>Cities (tabbed widget)>Properties (tabbed widget).
    It looks great when I select the accordion panels in Firefox and the states and properties tabs work as well.
    But when I select either the top accordion panel (Northeast) or the bottom panel (West) in IE8 (but not Midwest and Southern in the middle), the entire frame of the page bounces to the right and then back to the left. It is very annoying. I am not sure why this is happening and I don't have the experience to know how to troubleshoot the code.
    I know I am probably pushing the limits by using so many nested Spry elements but since it works in Firefox, can I assume that it should be fixable to work in IE8?
    In addition, I seem to have added a dotted border that I don't like and I am not sure which css style this applies to?
    Thank you for your help.

    I completely started with a new page in order to recreate the issue if possible. This is the code I have at this point. Any * indicates proprietary text that I cannot display. So there is no content other than text at this point. I have not altered any of the accordion or tabbed panels css. Any other attributes are from the css style sheet for the current website. All current live pages work well in any browser I have tested.
    I had been using googlemaps inside the tabbed panels content and thought that might be an issue, but none of this page contains the actual map code just text indicating that a map will be placed there, and the issue is still there. This is basically a template to enter content into.
    I checked it each step of the way in both Firefox and IE8 to see when the problem would begin to happen. Again, at all steps, as with the original completed document, it works very well in Firefox, even with many nested tabbed panels.
    In IE8, once I begin adding nested tabbed panels into the content panels, clicking an accordion panel tab will cause the whole page content to shift to the right and then bounce back to the left. It does not matter whether I am selecting the top, middle or bottom accordian panel tabs, nor does it seem to matter if I work back up from the bottom. Selecting tabbed panels within the nested tabbed panels does not cause any issues.

  • Re: Express Query on boolean values

    Hi Simon,
    When the model is run, however, I am able to enter values in the
    other fields and query on them, but I am unable to change the value
    of the checkbox that Express generates for the boolean attribute. If
    the query is run, the data returned is for both true and false values
    of this field.
    Why am I unable to query on this field?The literal answer to your question is: Because Express does not
    support doing queries on Boolean fields.
    The reason is that it is difficult to know how to interpret a
    ToggleField when it comes to search criteria. If "off" means
    find records where this value is FALSE and "on" means find records
    where this value is TRUE, how does one specify to find all records
    regardless of the field value? With DataFields, leaving the field
    blank specifies just this.
    If you want to override this behavior, you'll need to know the
    following:
    Express uses a special widget state to allow users to enter search
    criteria operators (<, >, and so forth) in fields that otherwise
    would not accept these operators (DataFields displaying integers
    or dates). This widget state is called FS_QUERY. What you are
    seeing is that when ToggleFields are in the FS_QUERY state, they
    do not allow the user to change their value.
    The SetWidgetState method is what sets the widget state to FS_QUERY
    when the window enters search mode. So to one step you must take
    to override this behavior is to write a custom SetWidgetState method
    that sets the widget state to FS_UPDATE if the passed widget is a
    toggle field and the passed widget is a ToggleField.
    But this will only allow you to change the state of the ToggleField
    while in Search mode. The next problem is that the window will ignore
    the value of the ToggleField regardless of what it is!
    This time the method of interest is SetSearchConstraint. It looks at
    the widget to get the search constraint. It will only look at DataField
    and ListField widgets, however, and ignore all others. You need to
    create a custom version that looks at the ToggleField and interprets
    the value (look in the Customizing Express applications doc for more
    info on modifying the search criteria).
    Also, the checkbox is highlighted in yellow during the entry of
    search criteria, even though I have set its colour in the window
    workshop customization.
    Where is this colour being set?This is being set in the ExpressWindows.ArrayDesc.SelectRow method.
    This is more difficult to override, as Express is not set up for
    users to override this class with a custom superclass.
    However, you can try setting the ToggleField color in
    DisplayCurrentRecord
    and SetResultSetFromData with code like the following:
    super.DisplayCurrentRecord();
    ArrayWidget.GetField( 1, "MyBooleanFieldName", FALSE ).FillColor =
    C_RED;
    and
    super.SetResultSetFromData();
    ArrayWidget.GetField( 1, "MyBooleanFieldName", FALSE ).FillColor =
    C_RED;
    I haven't tried this, however, and I'm not certain it will work, but
    it's worth a shot. ArrayWidget, in this case, is an attribute of type
    ExpressWindows.ArrayDesc that is defined on
    ExpressWindows.ExpressArrayWindow.
    GetField is defined on this class. Take a peek at it to get a better
    understanding of what it does.
    Good luck!
    Kerry
