Widgets and keyboard navigation

Hi there. I can call the dashboard up using the keyboard but does anybody know how to move amongst the different Widgets using the keyboard, (like you do with Apps and +command tab+ )?
Thanks.

How about this.requestFocus() where this is the Applet

  • Hierarchical Tree and keyboard navigation

Does anyone know how to use Hierarchical Trees with keyboards, or to disable keyboard actions? (forms 9.0.4)
My form has a tree which does processing in a When-Tree-Node-Selected trigger to populate some blocks depending on the selected node. If the user selects nodes with the mouse then all is fine, but if they move between nodes with the keyboard then the processing for each selected node is only run the next time a node is selected with the mouse. This means the data for each node will flash up in the blocks for a split second when the mouse is next used.
I've tried Key-Up/Key-Down triggers to prevent keyboard navigation, but they don't fire. Setting Keyboard Navigable to false doesn't fix it either.
Using the When-Tree-Node-Activated trigger doesn't help. The online help says this trigger fires when the user presses Enter or double-clicks a node. I find that each node for which Enter was pressed is processed only when the user next double-clicks a node, and the node they double-click is not processed.

  • AutoSuggest Widget and Custom Keyboard Events

    Hi,
I'm using the 1.6 and AutoSuggest widget for a search form.
I've managed to customise it slightly that when a user selects one
of the suggestions with the mouse a hidden form field is populated
with an ID (so that we don't actually have to search for the
selected terms, we can just reference the hidden field value, if
    it's defined).
I've used a very simple onclick= on the suggstion div (the
autosuggest itself is almost identical to the examples) that sets
the value of the hidden field to the ID when it's clicked. And
works fine. Although I can't seem to get it to work with keyboard
events. I've tried onkeydown=/onkeypress=/etc but not joy. The
Autosuggest widget keyboard navigation works, (up, down and enter
to select the suggestion) but does it overide any other attempts
for keyboard events? Or am I doing something wrong?
All the code is the same as the example apart from the actual
    suggestion div. Here it is:
    <div class="list" style="font-size:10px;"
    onkeydown="setHiddenValue('{hiddenid}')"
    onclick="setHiddenValue('{hiddenid}')">{name}</div>
And the setHiddenValue function (which works fine onclick):
    function setHiddenValue(hidID) {
    document.getElementById("intHiddenID").value = hidID;
Thanks in advance for any help
    Al

Just an update - and not the best solution. I've gone in and
edited the spryAutoSuggest.js to fit our needs exactly. It was a
just case of editing the key press events for the enter key (13 -
it's commented //enter key), which now gets the hidden field by ID
and set the value required to it.
Surprised there was no other suggestions... maybe something
    to be resolved in 1.7?

  • Feature Request:  Standard Keyboard Navigation in Media Browser and Project Panel

It's been a while since I've had time to submit a feature request.  I've wanted to see this one for a while.  If you agree, please submit your own feature request here: http://www.adobe.com/go/wish/
System Navigational Keyboard Shortcuts in Media Browser and Project Panel
Windows (and I'm sure Mac) has a standard set of keyboard and mouse navigational shortcuts for keyboard and mouse.  I'm so used to using them in daily browsing (both in Windows Explorer and in any web browser) that missing them in the PPr Media Browser, or getting a different result in the Project Panel, is still very jarring and slows my workflow (even after having used Premiere Pro [again] since version CS4).
I propose that the Media Browser and Project Panel should honor the OS defaults for keyboard and mouse folder/file navigation.  A few of the standard (Windows) keyboard and mouse navigational shortcuts are listed below (listed in order of most helpful to my own work):
    Moust Back Button = "BACK"
ALT + LEFT ARROW = "BACK"
UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT = steps through the various folders within the view.
UP, DOWN walks through the directory tree while RIGHT expands the currently selected folder and LEFT contracts that directory (twirl down, etc).
    ENTER opens a folder.
ALT + UP = "Folder Above"
ALT + RIGHT ARROW = "FORWARD"
    F2 Renames a folder
ENTER "takes" that name to the clip. (current functionality used ENTER to rename a file/folder).
    ESC cancels the renaming operation.
Pressing Enter on any piece of Media or Title, etc should take an "expected" action acording to it's context.  (i.e. ENTER on a video clip would load it inot the Source Monitor.  ENTER on a Title would open it in the Title Editor.  ENTER on a folder would take us into that folder).
These functions exist in both Windows Explorer as well as most modern Web browsers.  When browsing files and Project folders, it's what I've come to expect.  It's muscle memory, if not intuitive.  I realize that many of these keyboard commands are already in use in other windows/panels of the application, therefore, these commands should be Panel-specific (i.e. ALT+LEFT works differently in the Media Browser and Project Panel than it does on the Timeline/Sequence).  And as always, when making such changes (i.e. changing the behavior of ENTER to F2), this set of keys should be highly configurable based on preference:
    Preference:
checkbox:  Use OS-specific navigational keyboard and mouse commands in Media Browser and Project Panel
checkbox:  Use the (very few) "classic" Adobe keyboard commands in the Media Browser and Project Panel
The most common habit I find myself doing in the Media Browser is clicking the BACK button on my mouse—only to realize, yet again, it doesn't work that way in PPr.
The most common habit I find myself doing in the Project Panel is pressing F2 to rename a folder/bin.  Of course that doesn't work.  And when I've renamed it, I press ENTER to save the name, but that only moves me to the next folder ready to rename it, too.  I also find, out of habit, I try to navigate the bins using the arrow keys and then open the bin/folder using ENTER.  Instead, my bin is asking for a new name and I hit ESC to avoid renaming it—now THERE's a shortcut that works the way it should.
I realize this feature may be controversial to some, since it's not the way we're used to doing things in PPr.  However, I'm sure there are just as many out there, like me, who are confounded as to why PPr has never worked with the "conventional" navigation shortcuts found throughout the rest of the operating system, be it Windows or Mac.

  • Spotlight keyboard navigation and window size issues

I have two issues with Spotlight in Leopard and can't seem to find a solution.
    1. Keyboard navigation - If I open the spotlight list with command-space, type in my search and get my list, I can navigate up and down the list and open any item with the enter key. But there doesn't seem to be a way to use Quick View from the list. If I open a Spotlight Window with option-command-space (which I prefer) I can type in my search and get a list. But I can't get to the list to navigate it with the arrows without using the mouse to click on one of the items first. Once I have one item selected it is great to scroll through them with the arrow keys and then use Quick View by using the space bar to open and close the view. Is there any way to move the cursor from the search enter box into the results list in the Spotlight Window view using just the keyboard? Or is there a way to use the keyboard to invoke Quick View on the Spotlight list view?
    2. When opening the Spotlight Windows View with the option-command-space command, the window opens up to a relatively small size. I would like it to open to a much larger window, but I can't seem to find a way to do it. I resize the window and change the column size and positions to the way that I like them, but once I close out of the window it doesn't save that configuration. I have to start over every time. Is there a solution?

I just realized this is in the wrong forum. I've posted it in the Leopard forum.

  • Disable Accordion Keyboard Navigation in IE7

I have an accordion widget that I don't want to have keyboard
access for since that changes the appearance when it's active. I've
made sure that the accordion does not have a "tabIndex" attribute
and this seems to work to disable the keyboard navigation in
Firefox and Safari. IE7 is still providing keyboard access,
however, and when the accordion is active all the panel tabs turn
blue. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Ok, well I figured out that the easier solution is to just
    change the CSS styles for:
    .AccordionFocused .AccordionPanelTab
    .AccordionFocused .AccordionPanelOpen .AccordionPanelTab
to not be blue when the accordion has focus.

  • How can I get keyboard navigation to work on quizzes?

I am using 6.0.1.240.  After testing on my machine I sent the file to our customer who published it for SME review on a url.
Keyboard navigation on the quiz questions works great on my local machine but using the link the keyboard navigation tabs to the first response and then skips to the submit button on all single respnse questions.  It navigates properly on all multiple response answers.  Any help would be sincerely appreciated

    Hi there,
If you have an MCQ with only one correct answer then you will get radio buttons on the Question slide for all the Choices.
While tabbing when you get to the first answer choice, use the Down arrow key on your keyboard to go to the other answer Choices.
It is the property of the radio buttons that they are defined in one container.
    Thanks.

  • Keyboard navigation no longer working

Keyboard navigation (cursor keys, home/end, page up/down) within a textbox does not seem to work for certain sites - gmail for example. Navigation in other form elements, like input fields seem to work fine. When I downgrade gmail to use their "basic html" version, everything works fine. Which leads me to think there is an issue with my version of javascript....
The keyboard shortcuts for copy an paste (ctrl-c / ctrl-v) only seem to work within a input field tag. It doesn't seem to work within any other html element - this happens on all sites.
I am using Ubuntu 10.4 (64 bit) with Firefox 3.6.8.
Any help troubleshooting this would be greatly appreciated.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).<br />
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]<br />
    <br />
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.<br />
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.<br />
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")<br />

  • Wireless mouse and Keyboard Issue after closing the lid - external display

Can anyone give any insight. Recent purchase of a new Late 2008 15" MBP. I have connected it to an external 24" Apple monitor on my desk and use a wireless mouse and wireless keyboard on my desk top. I have configured the laptop to wake on bluetooth devices. So here is the problem: The laptop when the lid is up recognizes the bluetooth keyboard and mouse. I close the lid/screen. Laptop powers down... the after several seconds I move the mouse and the laptop comes alive... But after that there are no bluetooth devices attached. When I use the mouse, I get "connection lost" with a white figure of the mighty mouse on the screen. The wireless keyboard is not there and I have to open the lid and manually find the mouse and reconnect. The keyboard seems to work however....
    Apple..... any thoughts..... anyone?????

Hi Stentdoc; I'm thinking, 'connection lost ~= sorta low AA batteries in the Mighty Mouse? (I would put in fresh AA batteries in the mouse and keyboard, to eliminate as an issue that the 'connection lost' is due to low batt voltage; that this is causing the failure to wake.) ... then, in System Preferences > Hardware > Energy Saver, settings for Power Adapter > Sleep, set to "never" for "Put the computer to sleep when it is inactive for ..." to eliminate that as a conflict when trying to wake with bluetooth from sleep induced by closing the lid ...
Check your current "Sleep" setup (I left my MBP as "3")
    go to Utilities > Terminal
After you launch Terminal, the first step is to determine which sleep mode your Mac is currently using. You can both view and change the sleep mode using the Unix program pmset. To see your current settings, type (or, copy and paste)
    pmset -g | grep hibernatemode
    press 'enter'
You should see something like this:
    $ pmset -g | grep hibernatemode
    hibernatemode 3
So your machine is using mode 3 ... thanks to the documentation for the handy Deep Sleep Dashboard widget, which puts your machine immediately into hibernation mode (so you don’t have to yank all the power sources to invoke it):
    * 0 - Old style sleep mode, with RAM powered on while sleeping, safe sleep disabled, and super-fast wake.
    * 1 - Hibernation mode, with RAM contents written to disk, system totally shut down while “sleeping,” and slower wake up, due to reading the contents of RAM off the hard drive.
    * 3 - The default mode on machines introduced since about fall 2005. RAM is powered on while sleeping, but RAM contents are also written to disk before sleeping. In the event of total power loss, the system enters hibernation mode automatically.
also, I enabled this (to change back, input "lidwake 1":
    go to Utilities > Terminal
type in sudo pmset lidwake 0 then "enter"
it will ask for your password. type it in, that's it!
Now, when your computer is sleeping with the lid closed, when you open the lid nothing happens until you press any key ... nice: keeps it off when accidentally opened, like in a backpack?
WARNING: Improper use of the sudo command could lead to data loss
or the deletion of important system files. Please double-check your
typing when using sudo. Type "man sudo" for more information.
To proceed, enter your password, or type Ctrl-C to abort.

  • I cannot disable the full keyboard  navigation

Hello I have quite a problem.
As it says above, I cannot disable the full keyboard navigation option, whenever I try to, it re-activates itself in the preferences, even if I just change tabs and return within the preferences.
Furthermore, the keys seem to activate oddly, as I do not know of any shortcuts bound to the S key (JUST the s key), which commonly causes Itunes to skip forward a track in whatever playlist I am playing.
I have tried changing the other preferences, and I can change them with no difficulties, it is just the Keyboard navigation that is giving me problems.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.

On second thought... The help article cor-el linked mentions that Firefox may prompt you every time if the file is sent with the disposition:attachment header, i.e., forced save. You can bypass that problem (change disposition:attachment to disposition:inline) using the Inline Disposition extension. It has been around for a while, but I haven't tried it myself: [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/inlinedisposition/]. Maybe that's what you need for Gmail.

  • Keyboard navigation with left right keys for a ring

    Hello,
is it possible to use the left/right keyboard keys to control a ring? They do not appear in the keyboard-navigation properties.
It has to work that way, that I can move with the keys through the ring-entries and select the desired entry with <enter>
    Many thanks in advance,
                        Magnus

    Hi Magnus,
Sorry, I haven't found how to do exactly what you're asking for... I made a small VI in which if you press "left" or "right", the ring gets the "key focus" and then you can "scroll" the value with the up/down arrow, but you can't see all the value like if you actually clicked on it...
    Hope this helps...
BTW, I don't know in which context you are using LabVIEW, but this point is - IMO - not worth spending hours

  • Enable keyboard navigation - mini player

it seem that the enable keyboard navigation in the preferences can never be unchecked. i'm tired to seeing the title of the song while using the mini player. i've unchecked the box and it goes back to being checked each time i use the mini player. any fixes to this?
i am running windows 7 and have updated to itunes 12.0.26

It is pretty unintuitive. I was in seeing a Genius about several issues today. Previously AppleCare had told me that this was NOT a known issue and that they couldn't replicated it on their mac. The Genius figured out pretty quickly that the issue seems to be only when iTunes is in full screen mode. If you take it out of full screen the player worked fine both on my machine and on theirs. They should fix that, of course. It shouldn't make any difference what mode you're in.
Thanks for the response. Hope this make some sense of it.
    Cheers,
    Michael

  • Keyboard Navigation Shortcuts

    Hi All,
I'm just wondering has anyone implemented the use of the Keyboard Navigation Shortcuts in the Web IC.
We have activated the shortcuts and they are being displayed in the application.
On using the shortcuts they appear to work fine the first time they are used. However if you wish to use another shortcut then nothing happens.
    e.g. We enter the Web IC; Click on Esc + "c" and the inbox is highlighted;
Next we click on Esc + "d" & nothing happens!
Is there anything we are forgetting?
