WiFi is an OS 3.2 problem?

I have done various WiFi connectivity tests with my iPad on no less tan twenty differen WiFi hot spots around the Orlando area. At fourteen of those spots my Ipad preformed flawlessly. When tested the signal strength was constant and extremely strong. The areas where the iPad had week or fluctuating signal strength this is where the loss of connectivity and loss of network settings occurred. On day one when I attempted to use my iPad at home I experienced many of the problems read about here in the forums. With the purchase of a new router my connection problems were resolved. My conclusion is this is not hardware or antenna problem because if it were it would be consistent with all routers therefore I believe this is a communication problem with OS 3.2 and SOME routers.
Some advise for Apple. Can't you just simply acknowledge that there have been many reported WiFi issues and we are worming on a solution to correct the problem. Sorry for any inconvenience this may be causing in the
mean time. A simple statement like that would sure make most of us feel better.

Can't you just simply acknowledge that there have been many reported WiFi issues....
Apple could, but typically they don't, and based on the posts here if they were watching closely, they'd be no closer to understanding the problem now than they would have been at the outset. And that is the problem. As you indicate, any individual iPad may be capable of showing wifi problems or not, depending in many instances on factors the user would have no way to know, such as the router(s) used, the configuration of those devices, the network they are connecting to, the quality of care and maintenance of those systems.... yet Apple have to pick their way through these reports, with much crucial information unknown and unknowable, and work out what the problem is and how to fix it.
That there is a problem seems largely undeniable, but even if based only on your own conclusion that +this is not hardware or antenna problem because if it were it would be consistent with all routers therefore I believe this is a communication problem with OS 3.2 and SOME routers+ it is obviously going to be problematic to resolve it. Why, for example, would an iPhone running the same OS not have a problem and the iPad does, if it's software. If it's hardware, why do some iPads seem to function perfectly and others do not - and clearly that is the case even if based on Princeton's numbers.
That's why Apple don't typically announce that they are aware of problems such as these. At least not until they are satisfied they have understood enough of what's going on to know broadly where the fault lies.
A simple statement like that would sure make most of us feel better.
It might, and yet might not. For some it would provide a ray of hope that it will be resolved in time, but even for them after a while and for others at the outset, it would merely provide a constant means by which Apple could be accused of dragging its feet and leaving the issue unresolved for too long. In the end, Apple will do what Apple does - which likely means remaining generally silent on the issue, but certainly examining it and resolving it as quickly as they can. Meanwhile those who have wifi issues shouldn't simply accept the fact, but should make these issues know directly to Apple (not via Apple Discussions since this largely functions as a user-to-user support resource) so that Apple can gain as much hard information about the problem as is possible.

    Is the router to small?
Not necessarily, if you are using Facetime all the data goes through your WiFi router, your cable/DSL modem, your ISP and the internet to Apple's Facetime servers and then, in reverse, down to the Facetime recipient. If your ISP connection is too slow or there is excessive traffic on the internet you can have Facetime problems.
Most WiFi routers can handle this unless others in the house are also using WiFi at the same time. The problem may be your ISP connection or congestion on the internet, etc.

  • My iPad2 no longer connects to my home wifi network but there is no problem connecting to other saved wifi networks. Currently using iOS8.0.2. with storage capacity of 12.2Gb but only 147Mb free. Disconnecting the router and rebooting the iPad worked

My iPad2 no longer connects to my home wifi network but there is no problem connecting to other saved wifi networks. Currently using iOS8.0.2. with storage capacity of 12.2Gb but only 147Mb free. Disconnecting the router and rebooting the iPad worked briefly as a temporary fix but not anymore

    You could try this
Temporarily disable security on your home network
    See if the iPad connects
If it does then reset the security - with the same or different password

If your analog video device does not support device control, turn off device control. To do this, choose Preferences from the Edit menu, click the Device Control tab, then make sure the checkbox next to Enable Device Control doesn't have a checkmark in it.

  • Why Is My iPhone 4 Struggling To Pick Up a Wifi Signal My Macbook Has No Problem Receiving?

I have both an iPhone 4 and a late 2009 Macbook.  I work at an office just a few yards from the local hospital.  The hospital has a public wifi that is definitely receivable, although weak in spots.  But what I have noticed is that my iPhone 4 has a real hard time finding the signal and keeping it.  I usually only get 2 bars max, out of the three on the signal graphic on the screen of the iPhone.  It drops out often on the iPhone.  However, when I connect with my Macbook, the connection is solid and it displays that I am getting a full signal.  The signal doesn't drop on the Macbook.  My question is why is there a difference between the iPhone and Macbook in picking up a wifi signal?  Do iPhones not have as much sensitivity to pick up a weaker signal?  Is there something I can do to the iPhone to enhance its reception?

    They better huh?
I'm sure Apple is shaking in their boots.
No such problem with my iPhone which I connect with a number of wi-fi networks.
If the same problem with any other wi-fi network besides your own and no change after resetting network settings and/or after restoring the iPhone as a new iPhone or not from the backup, the iPhone has a hardware problem.
If the problem is with your wi-fi network only - no problem with any other wi-fi network besides your own, the problem is not with the iPhone.

  • My wife fixed the Lion Internet connectivity Problem!!

This story kills me.  I upgraded to lion on our two MBP.  Mine worked great.  My wife had the problem where, upon waking, the MBP was still connected to the wifi (airport express) BUT she had no connectivity to the internet.
I researched the heck out of this and tried everything.
I got on Apple care and we tried another 30min worth of stuff.  Eventually they said bring it to a genius bar.   I almost thought I had it when I reset everything to factory default on the airport.  It worked a few times but then went back to the same problem.
Last night my wife popped out a cd in here machine.   She asked if I had put it there.  I had about a week ago.   Not long after that he MBP problem went away.   Well there is no way a CD in the laptop is going to affect internet connectivity.....so I assumed that my airport reset finally did the trick.
But.... this AM I noticed in the Apple support area that someone else noticed that when they pulled a cd out.....things worked.
    This is ridiculous....
So I put the cd back in here computer....the problem is back!!... pulled it out....problem gone!
Went to my computer which never had a problem....put CD in....now I have a problem.....pulled it out....no problem  (note that you do have to cycle the wireless one time only after you have the problem.... after that sleep...wake....restart....you name it it worked.   The CD is a blank CD by the way.
So its crazy but my wife, who had problems with my tv remote,   fixed the problem!!

Report this issue to Apple's engineering by sending a bug report via its Bug Reporter system. To do this, register as an Apple Developer—it's free and available for all Mac users and gets you a look at some development software. Since you already have an Apple username/ID, use that. Once a member, go to Apple BugReporter and file your bug report. You'll get a response and a follow-up number; thus, starting a dialog with engineering, hopefully getting them to put the issue at the top of their bug fix list.

  • OS X Mavericks v10.9.4 Update still does not fix the wifi shut off in sleep mode problem

OS X Mavericks v10.9.4 Update was supposed to fix the wifi connectivity problem with my iMac. Wifi disconnects in sleep mode and does not connect when awakened.  Must reconnect manually every time. PITA.

Your observation is correct about wifi disconnection in sleep mode. That is normal, you may want to check to see if your Mac supports Power Nap/is enabled- OS X: About Power Nap
The reconnect should be automatic within a few seconds.
Does it happen with multiple wifi networks or just one?
Have you tried deleting and re-adding the wifi network?

  • Wifi with iphone and touch- safari problems- internet sharing solved.

This has probably been mentioned before but if you are one of the poor sods like me who spent hours trying to figure out why your iphone or ipod touch would connect to your wifi (via mac internet sharing) but safari would never find web pages then here is the solution.....
    buy leopard.
i spent countless hours reading forums, messing with settings on mac and iphone and the best it would ever work for would be about 5 seconds then stop, it drove me insane. for the life of me i had no idea why my iphone would not work properly with my mac mini.
'when you tried to share your internet connection via airport iphone would find it but safari wouldnt work'.
so, i bought leopard the other day (upgraded from tiger) and it worked perfect 1st time and still does, no issues at all.
i know this has probably been mentioned but i wanted to save some time and tears for those who have not yet found the solution, but unfortunatly its spending £85.
    cheers

Could be a GMail setting, but my GMail works just fine.  You might try removing your GMail account again and re-add it as an Exchange Account rather than using the standard GMail profile:

This has the advantage of keeping your Google contacts and calenders in sync with your iPhone, but it may also get around whatever GMail problem you're having.

  • IPad 2 WIFI (ios 4.3) Safari+proxy problem

I have a problem with my new iPad 2 WIFI (4.3). With my iPhone 4 (4.1) I have no problem to connect to my authenticating proxy (squid) in my college. With my iPad, it's impossible... Safary is very slow and can't connect to websites. The settings are the same on both devices.
    What's wrong ?
It seems that 4.3.1 is not a solution (??) can you confirm please ?
    Thanks.

Safari on my iPad2 is super slow. I use the iPhone 3GS right next to it, and the iPhone just zips. Both show two bars of signal strength. Both are running iOS 4.3.1. The iPad2 is a Verizon 3G with 64 gb.
I have noticed the problem in other apps too. In iTunes when I try to preview a song, the wheel on the song spins, but the wheel next to the wifi symbol showing the bars does not come on. I've noticed the same behavior in the Zite app as well.
Also, the bars showing wifi signal strength will sometimes show up as two bars in the wifi setup screen, but none at all in the upper left hand corner.

  • MBP will not connect to public WiFi site, iPhone does with no problems.

My MacBook Pro (late 2010), refuses to connect to many Public WiFi networks. However, my iPhone has no issues. Typically, I will be in a coffee shop or airport lounge. I'll take out my iPhone and launch Safari. Safari will try for a second or two to connect, and then a "Login" page will pop up. Usually it is simply a request to accept the Terms & Conditions for the access provider. Tick the "I Accept" box and continue. Same location, using my MBP, I launch Safari and Safari tries to connect and does nothing. Spinning Beach Ball. I do not get the "Accept" page with the Terms & Conditions. Any ideas why this works with the iPhone and not the MBP? This is a chronic problem for me and I'm getting tired of it. Thanks for any assistance.
