Will connecting my nano to a comp without my songs delete them????

i want to update my nano but was told if i plug it into a different computer all my songs will be deleted? is this true? or is there a way around it??? please help!!!!

If you chose to Manually Manage songs and playlists, nothing will happen to the iPod when you connect it to another comp.
If you chose to Automatically Manage songs and playlists, the songs in the iTunes Library in the original computer, a.k.a. the computer you connect it to very frequently, have to have the exact same iTunes Library as the other computer...

Basic troubleshooting from the Users Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

You can delete photos from individual albums but not from the camera roll. If you try to delete a photo from camera roll it will be deleted from all other albums ("locations") that contain the photo. This is because the actual photo is in the camera roll (the albums only contain links to the photo in camera roll, not the actual photo).

iTunes Match has nothing to do with Photos. Music tracks can be deleted from Match via itunes installed on a computer. however, you might want to describe what you are trying to do in a little more detail. As posted, you question is really unclear.

No. If you have different iPod using a different iTunes acct. you have no choice but to delete the songs and upload your. itunes won't let you transfer songs from different iTunes acct.

Then I suspect you do not have iTunes Match enabled. Using that "delete all" command in the Settings does not remove the music from the cloud, nor does it disable iTunes Match. With iTunes Match enabled you will still see all the music.
So go to Settings > iTunes and App Store and make sure iTunes Match is set to ON (green).

I wish I did not need to use my original Llive account to organize and delete emails, etc. I was hoping just to start using Mail and editing everything from the Apple mail program instead of having to do it in both Mail and in Live. Otherwise, it accumalates a lot of email in both places. It is supposed to make it easier so I do not have to do everything twice.

You can select some files in iTunes then right click consolidate.
Then delete the original files not in the iTunes media folder.
This way you don't have to do it all at once.
Note that when you add files to iTunes, they are copied into the iTunes media folder so anything you added in the past is already in the iTunes media folder. Consolidating wont do anything to those. Likely all you need to do is delete the original.

Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with your iPod nano (7th generation) touch screen. I recommend the following steps for the issue you described (you can skip the steps you have already tried):
Touch screen does not accept input
Clean the screen with a microfiber polishing cloth.
Do not wear gloves while using the touchscreen. Do not use the touchscreen with wet hands or immediately after applying hand lotion. Moisture affects touchscreen behavior in the same manner as it affects a trackpad.
If you have a protective plastic sheet or film on the touchscreen, try removing it, because it may be preventing the touchscreen from working properly.
The current application may be unresponsive; try resetting iPod by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button and the Home buttons simultaneously for a least six seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Sync with iTunes and restore the iPod.

I've used Match to put a bunch of songs on my 16GB iPad and now I've run out of memory and need to remove some of them. How do I remove them from the iPad without Match automatically deleting them from iCloud and iTunes on my laptop? I only want to take the songs off the iPad.

This is a topic that has been covered in-depth on this forum.
You can delete individual songs by swiping across them and tapping the delete button. Or, in the Artist of Album view tap-n-hold for a second, then tap the "x" in the upper left to delete. Or you can delete all downloaded music by going to Settings > General > Usage, tapping Music, then swiping and tapping the delete button.
This will not remove the music from the cloud or the iTunes library.

King_Penguin, thanks so much for getting back with me so quickly. You mentioned downloading it from a friend's computer. Is it just a matter of connecting to his comp via USB and transferring it to my iPad? How would Apple know to charge my account for the purchase?
