Will iWeb Allow You to Publish to Places other than .Mac?

I like the functionality of iWeb, but wonder if it would allow me to publish to a site other than .Mac.

Choose Publish to a Folder rather than Publish to .Mac, then use FTP to upload from your local folder to your non-.Mac server.
You need to be aware, though, that you'll lose some of the benefits of .Mac publishing when you do this. Slideshows will be different, password protection won't be available, the hit counter won't work, and Comments and Search which came with version 1.1 won't function.

  • IWeb '08: Can I publish to sites other than .Mac?

I'm new to using a Mac but I was wondering if iWeb can be used to publish to sites hosted by other servers like godaddy or something similar?

Yes. Publish the site to a folder and then upload the files as instructed by the host.

  • When will iWeb allow editing of published sites?

I use iWeb with several colleagues and clients. I understand it is not meant for a lot of business or organizational use, but believe me, it is being used that way an awful lot for iWeb's great graphic templates, ease of manipulation with groups present, etc.
Its one drawback is that it cannot be used collaboratively. Only one person can do any editing, and so anytime that a single period must be added, the original author must do the editing, even if others have write access to the web file space. This makes for really clunky operation in the team-oriented web environment of all but the most personal of websites.
I realize that iWeb generates a bunch of files when a site is published, but we need a way to have iWeb read the published fileset and reconstruct the pre-published site so that it can be edited and re-published by someone other than the original author.
I know the iWeb team, like all Apple teams, can handle this technical challenge. And I know that Apple, wanting to create the user experience where things "just work" the way users expect, will agree that users have come to expect files that can be edited by other users using the same product.
So this feature should be a top priority for iWeb 3. I'm sure others would agree.

You are just talking to other users here. To tell Apple something, use this link:

    Thank you for your response.
After searching around for any pointers to my problem, the above fixes I listed were the things that came closest to maybe addressing the issue, that I was able to locate. But since none worked, and as you pointed out, it is now clear they will only help towards viewing sent images rather than helping with inserting any images in the body of the email, which is the problem I suddenly started facing today.
Coming to your suggestion, on opening the Write window, the Insert choice on the menu bar is indeed available. And I had already tried using that, by clicking on the '''Insert ----> Image''' option listed. That opens
up the "Image Properties" box but using that has not resolved the matter either. It results in an image box getting inserted within the email but without the actual image itself.
Plus, normally I am able to use the '''Paste''' function in the Edit menu or through right-click, but today the (Cut/Copy/Paste) functions have gone inactive, thereby disallowing me to use that to place an image within the email.

  • Will Apple allow you to advertise related PRINTED books in the back of your iBooks Author eBook?

I know from reading somewhere that Apple will not allow you to advertise for competing format eBooks inside an iBook Author created eBook. That if you do this, your eBook will be rejected. HOWEVER, will they allow an author to advertise related theme PRINT books? I'm revising an already published eBook and the author has requested that we advertise 2 of his books that are available as print only (not ebook) editions in the back matter. Anyone know for sure?

  • My early iPad will not allow for a newer version of software than 5.1.1.

My early iPad will not allow for a newer version of software than 5.1.1 is there a way of loading on a newer version?

    Hi,
If you have an original iPad, that is limited to iOS 5.1.1 and cannot go any further. All other iPads and iPad Minis can get up to iOS 7.0.4.
    Hope this helps!

  • Can iWeb be hosted by another site other than .Mac?

I have already purchased a domain name and a hosting agreement with GoDaddy, however I cannot utilize their web page templates for some reason. Another mac user suggested I purchase iWeb and then have GoDaddy host. Can that be easily accomplished?

Yes, it can be easily accomplished. Here's iWeb's Help info on this topic...
Publishing to a server or hosting service other than .Mac:
Instead of publishing your site to .Mac, you can publish your site to a local folder and then upload it to the server or hosting provider of your choice. You may want to use this method if you own a domain name and want to place your site there.
To publish your site to a local destination:
Choose File > Publish to a Folder.
Choose a location to store your site, and then click Choose.
After you publish your site to a folder, you can use an FTP (file transfer protocol) client to upload the site folder and index file to the location of your choice. iWeb does not provide an FTP client, but they are easy to obtain. Some hosting services provide a web-based FTP upload service, or you can download an FTP client from the web. For more information, contact your server administrator.
If you don't publish your site to .Mac, these features are unavailable:
    Password protection
    Blog comments
    Blog search
    Hit counter
    Enhanced slideshows
Also, for Subscribe buttons to work, you must specify your site's URL in the field provided after you publish to a folder.

Not as far as I am aware.
The latest version of Adobe FlashPlayer can be obtained from here:
    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFl ash
You can check here:  http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/  to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS The latest version, 10.2.152.25 or later, is for Intel Macs only, as Adobe no longer support the PPC platform. Note that the latest Flash Player update only works on YouTube with Safari in 32 bit mode - until YouTube correct this.

  • Will aTV Allow you to stretch?

I cannot find this anywhere, can you tell aTV to stretch a 4:3 full screen to fit the HD screen? I ask because I have a lot of 4:3 full screen movies and videos that I like to have fit the screen. I cant find a way to do it with Front Row. I have my laptop hooked up to the flat screen and there is no way to tell it to stretch. I can tell the tv to do it, but it does not squeeze it to fit, so it bleeds off the edges.
This is the only thing stopping me from buying one.
    Thanks for you response...

    Dear LB Jeffries "Film Maker",
I wasn't really looking for your opinion on video/film formats, but since you have offered yours, here's mine!
I "for one" am glad that we have the choice to view content as we please! I own a multimedia company and we produce HD and SD commercials, instructional DVDs etc. and I would never force a particular format on my clients. They get exactly what they want, when they want it.
I am also a professional musician (CD on itunes, Mikel Thomas) and I would never tell people to listen to my music on a high end audio system ONLY as it was "Intended". I say however you would like to enjoy my creations the better! On an iPod, in the car stereo, on the boom box, with headphones, without headphones, in surround sound, in stereo, in mono... what ever you like!!! That's the beauty of this country, we are free to do as we please as long as we have the options! The more options the better! And I would never look down on someone or think less of someone just because they desire to listen to my music their own way.
I also own an XBox 360 and it allows you to size your content however you like and it does an excellent job of upscaling any video source. There is no comparison between the Xbox360 and front row off my MacBook. The 360 blows it away in quality and features. Nullriver has a piece of software that allows you to stream photos, music and video to your HD TV from your mac. Its called Connect360 an awesome piece of software and only $20.
I was just curious about the aspect stretching because I was thinking about adding an aTV in my bedroom.
Thanks to all for the informative replys.

  • How can you change your iPhone purchase to be shipped to a place other than your billing address?

There is an "edit shipping" option, but the hyperlink is disabled. I'm purchasing the new iPhone 4S, and there seems to be no option to change the shipping address. Is this true for everyone?
    Thanks!

Verizon will ship to any address you provide to them.  I've been a Verizon Wireless customer since 1999.  My iPhone 4s order will be shipped to an address other than my billing.  It even shows it plain as day in my confirmation email.  I would take a screen shot and show everyone, but I don't want to give out my address (obviously).  But you can ABSOLUTELY have something shipped to an address other than your billing.  I've had this done MANY times over the years.  The reason for this is that a lot of parents pay for their kids' phones at college and such.  So obviously, the shipping address can be different.  As long as the billing information is the same as the shipping.  That's the important thing.
