Will LDAP overwrites the existing mailboxes??

Dear NetPro gurus,
One of my customers had their Unity Connection 8.0 integrated with CallManager 8.0 via AXL. And they would like to migrate the existing integration to integrate with LDAP. They have the following question:-
Since the Unity Connection already has all the mailbox with 'EXACTLY THE SAME' Alias as the LDAP username, if we integrate the Unity Connection with LDAP, would it delete all the existing mailboxes?? (i.e. would it delete all the mailboxes so that all the settings like 'Greeting WAV', 'Caller Input' settings, VoiceMail PINs, mailbox language settings be deleted??). Or would it mark all the mailboxes as 'In-active'??

Hi, for one my LabVIEW application, I have created two installers
Including all the required additional installers (Installer)
With no additional installer (patch installer)
So that, for further versions they can use only patch installer.
When I try to installer both the installer of same version which created two icons in “Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features” as shown below.
When I am installing the second installer (patch), I expected that it will either overwrite the existing or it will not allow me to install. But both didn’t happen.
Please share your thoughts on the above.

i was about to hide few set of drives in my pc from other standard user's by using group policy object. but there are only few set of drives available by default. so by few surf in the official windows sites i found the above link that guide one to create
custom set of drives along the existing one in gpo, by creating a new .adm file and importing the same into it.
but my query is, in the given guide they have said that
"Microsoft does not recommend to change the System.adm file, but instead to create a new .adm file and import this .adm into the GPO. The reason is that if you apply changes to the system.adm file, these changes might get overwritten if Microsoft
releases a new version of the system.adm file in a Service Pack."
so weather the new .adm (with different name) file that i am going to import into it will replace/overwrite the already existing template (that is "Hide these specified drives in My Computer" in the GPO) or create a new one under "Configuration
--> Policies --> Administrative Template --> Classic Administrative Templates. "

Not really, the new .adm file won't replace/overwrite the already existing template. While, in my opinion, it would be better to make a backup for this default file in case there was any damage of your later operation.

Apps on a device are forever associated with the Apple ID that was used to purchase or download them. If the Apple ID on a device is changed the apps acquired with the original Apple ID will require that original Apple ID and password to be updated.
My suggestion would be to erase your kids' iPads and set them up new, each with their own Apple ID. Then turn on Family Sharing with you as the Organizer. This will allow any of the Family members to share apps as long a those apps allow Family Sharing. Turn on Family Sharing in the Settings app.

It depends upon the method used to import the bookmarks.
Firefox can import from two formats, if you import the JSON format it will overwrite the bookmarks that already exist. If you import from the HTML format it will add the bookmarks that are imported to those that already exist.

How can I transfer a profile to my new computer without overwriting the existing profile?

For your serial number, if Photoshop is still running on your old machine;
Start Photoshop. Goto Help > System Info. Buried in amongst all the stuff in there will be your serial number. Read through it carefully.
If Photoshop is not installed / running on your old machine, then you are indeed pretty much hosed.
This is always assuming software that old will run successfully on a new machine, of course.

F I have burnt a playlist of mp3's to a CD and want to burn another one onto the same CD, will it overwrite the first one or add to the CD?

I know that mp3's take up less space, so I didn't realize I could've probably burnt a lot more files onto the CD. I burnt 10. I'd like to add more. Will it add them, overwrite what I already burnt or what? Just wondering before I do it. Thanks!

If the disc is erasable then erase and burn all the tracks as desired. Audio CDs need to burned in one continuous action and the session closed. With data discs it may be possible to add to a previous session, but I don't know if iTunes supports that feature, and not every reader does which could be an issue.

No. Nothing is stored in RAM when the computer's off, and you'll need to turn it off while upgrading its RAM.

I want to import bookmarks (.json) from my old computer BUT i do NOT want to overwrite the existing bookmarks on my new computer. How can I do this? Other solutions simply restore (i.e., overwrite)...

All good ideas!! However, here's another twist. There are actually TWO old computers--my old personal laptop and my old work computer--different sets of bookmarks. And no, I don't have access to either computer anymore.
However, it sounds like I can do two iterations of AliceW's suggestion--i.e., Export my current bookmarks, restore first old computer bookmarks, export restored bookmarks, restore second old computer bookmarks, then reimport both created sets to merge into a new super bookmarks. Is that correct?
I think I'll go take a walk in the park first to clear my head... then I'll come back and try it. It sounds quite easy in principle.

Picture Library : upload image with same name overwrite the image in thumbmail or WebVersion view but not the actual image link points to the old image

I am facing a wired issue with Picture Libraries in SharePoint.
We created a custom field and added it to UserInfo list, the column based on custom field lets user upload their personal images to a Picture Library with the name <User ID>.<Image Extension> e.g. 1.jpg where UserID is internal Listitem ID of the UserInfo list and set its URL to the field value which we use to display the image on our custom user profile and some other WebParts.
If the user uploads a different image, it will overwrite the existing one it keeping the same name.
The field worked perfectly with sites using widows Based authentication, but as we move the field to sites with form based authentication we find that the field is able to upload the image properly first time but on each successive upload, although a new image gets uploaded with the name userid.imagextension and is shown in the allitems.aspx page in the thumbnail view and in the picture preview on the dispform.aspx page, but the link next to the name field and the image shown on clicking the preview points to the old image.
To put it other way

I confirmed the same by actually repeating the same exercise on a picture Library in the User Interface
Uploading an image say upload.jpeg in the picture library using SharePoint interface.
Then uploading a different jpeg image keeping the same name upload.jpeg again in the picture library.
In allitems.aspx thumbnail view and on dispform.aspx page preview filed image now show the newly uploaded image but when you click the preview image or click the link in the name field value it takes you back to the old image.
I have seen this issue on environment where we have enabled form based authentication and the issue is not seen on another server where we have wss with windows based authentication.
Has anyone noticed such behavior and is there any workaround to that!

I had the same issue.
In my case, Blob Cache was enabled for the web application in which the image issue was occuring.
I cleared blob cache, and after doing a hard refresh of my browser, the correct image was then displayed.
To clear blob cache, do the following:
Navigate to:
http://yourwebapp:port/yoursite/_layouts/objectcachesettings.aspx
Select: "Object Cache Flush" and "Force all servers in the farm to flush their object cache" check boxes
Click the OK button

Overwriting an existing document in a KM folder

Hi.
In EP5 (SP5) you got prompted ("do you want to overwrite or not") when ever you tried to upload a document to a KM folder and that document already existed in that specific folder.
In EP6 (NW04) though you are not prompted anymore but the file is uploaded with an "_[number]" added to the document id (you are informed though that a file already exists and that the new file is saved as described before).
Is there a setting somewhere where you can choose to be prompted or not when uploading an already existing document to a folder or do we have to live with this feature?

Hi,
This should be fixed in Stack 11. The behavior is not configurable. You now get something like this:
An item with this name already exists. You can overwrite the existing item or create a new item with the same name or a different name. Overwriting the existing item will retain any additional information associated with that item such as the description or any annotations.
o Overwrite the existing item, retaining associated information
o Save As [ uploaded filename in input box ]
[Ok] [Cancel]
The overwrite option is selected by default.

Can I install a new copy of the OS X software in place of the existing OS if I don't know the original OS admin password?

I bought a used donated Macbook 4,1 to dip my toes in the Apple world. The system has the OS X 10.6 operating system but the admin name and/or password that I was given does not work and I have tried every combination that I can imagine. The charity has no way to contact the original owner.
If I purchase a new copy of OS X 10.6.8 (or other version suggestions for this early 2008 Macbook model???) from Apple, will I be able to overwrite the existing install and start fresh or will the lack of an admin password prevent me from installing the new OS? Is there another alternative???

You first need to erase (reformat) your hard drive.

When you take advantage of the aggregate storage data loadbuffer, Analytic Services sorts and works with the values after alldata sources have been read. If multiple records are encountered for any specificdata cell, the values are accumulated. Analytic Services thenstores the accumulated values.
