Win7/Base Wim/Office 2010 Patches/ Hangs deployment/Admin rights lost

Hi All, sorry for the sort of confusing title.
My issue is as follows.  I have a task sequence set up to build a Base Wim for Win7EntX64 which will include office 2010x86 and run ZTIWindowsUpdate for patches.  I'm having issues with the task sequence not continuing once Office installs and
ZTIWindowsUpdate runs.  At this stage I notice that admin rights are lost.  So my task sequence breaks down as follows:
1. Win7SP1 applies, (including large protion of patches in Packages)
2. Boot into OS, ZTIWindowsUpdate runs to patch OS
3. Office 2010 SP2 x86 is installed
4. ZTIWindowsUpdate runs to patch Office and any stragglers
5. "Imaging" portion of the task sequence runs, Prep, sysprep, capture
I've included the tail end of some of my log files.
smsts.log
bdd.log
I don't see any major issues with the logs but I'm not an expert at reading them.
Any help anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Almost forgot, I'm running my image build/capture in Win8 hyper-v. Using MDT 2012 U1 and ADK 8.

  • Unable to activate after Service Pack 2 for Microsoft Office 2010 (KB2687455) is deployed

I'm having a very strange issue with deploying the "Service Pack 2 for Microsoft Office 2010 (KB2687455)". Here's what I see:
Deploying to a Windows 7 SP1 system fully patched as of 7/29/2013
    Using SCCM 2007 R3
Task Sequence installs Office Professional Plus 2010
Task Sequence installs Service Pack 2 for Microsoft Office 2010 (KB2687455)
The Office Professional Plus 2010 install was configured to use our key using the Office Custimization Tool (setup.exe /admin)
When I try to activate the suite using any of the installed applications (word, excel, outlook or powepoint) I get the error "An unspecified error has occurred. Your request cannot be processed at this time. Please try again later. (0x80070190)"
If I repair the install then try the activation again it works right away. This is a good work around for single installs but for my needs of multiple system deployment and for pushing out the Service Pack 2 for Microsoft Office 2010 (KB2687455) to other systems
in my environment this will not work.
Can anyone please suggest a solution to this problem?
    Thank you,

    Hi
According to my research, this issue occurs when one of the following conditions are true:
If you have CD emulation software installed, a registry key is preventing the hardware ID from being acquired.
A required registry key is not set correctly or is missing.

  • Unable to print multiple copies of documents on Win7 machine with Office 2010

Since upgrading to Windows 7, I have been unable to print multiple copies of documents in any MS Office 2007, 2010, Word Pad or Adobe Reader 9.  I also experience the same problem if I print from Word Pad.  The issue appears to be associated with the Collate Option in the Print Dialog box.  If the Collate box is checked, I only get one copy of the document.  If I uncheck the Collate box I get as many copies as I choose.   The problem is that with the Collate box unchecked, I have to collate multiple copies by hand, and with 10 – 20 copies of multi-page documents that can be quite a chore.
The ironic thing is that MS Visio 2003, on the same machine, prints and collates as many copies as I choose, with the Collate box checked.
I can print multiple copies of Word 2003 documents from my wife’s Win XP machine to the same printer, but not from my Win 7 machine with Office 2010.
My printer is an HP LaserJet 1320nw and I have downloaded and installed the latest printer drivers from the HP Web site.
Has anyone experienced this problem, and if so, are you aware of a solution other than unchecking the Collate box?

I have the same issues with my LJ1320. I have Office 2010 and Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.   However, my printing problem is more widespread since I have been unsuccessful at printing multiple copies of all types of documents, not just from  Office 2010.  For example, I have the same problem trying to print multiple copies from  Internet Explorer.
I also have other problems printing  from Office 2010 that you may not have discovered yet.  I cannot print Excel spreadsheet grid lines from Office 2010 if those documents were originally created in an earlier version of Office.  I tried saving them as Office 2010 documents and also using compatibility mode but nothing worked.  These same documents print fine on the same printer from my laptop which uses Windows Vista and Office 2007.  Also Excel spreadsheets originated in Office 2010 print nicely.
Looks like HP has a few bugs in their printer drivers.
I note that HP released a new Universal Print Driver for Windows PCL5x64 on Feb 18, 2011 (Version 5.2.6).  Have you tried it yet?

  • Win7 Base Imange + Addon Images - Am I doing this right?

    Ok here is my setup
    ZCM 11
I created a base win 7 image. It has the default 100mb partition 1 boot
and he 2nd partition for all the main win 7 stuff (C: drive) etc
I created a Pre Boot Bundle
Image script - all it does is img -pd all to clear any existing images
    Win7 Base - Zenimage
Win7 addon unattend - Zenimage (used zen image explorer to extract these
    as add on image)
Win7 addon nwclient - zenimage (used zen image explorer to extract these
    as add on image)
BUT i think when the above runs it is placing the addon images (or
trying to) to the first partition when it should be placing it in the
    2nd partition.
How can I do this correctly
IF i do it in aenworks maintenance mode using the gui manually it works
(cause I selected advanced options to make sure ADDON was select)
how do I do that in the bundle?
    Any ideas suggestions

I create the Windows 7 image with both the 100mb boot partition and the "c: drive" partiton already in it. The other images that you use have to be done in one of two different ways.
If you are streaming a secondary image (I do that to include the Novell and ZENWorks client files) then I create the image with zmgexp with two partitions. The first partition is empty. The second contains the directories and files for the Novell and ZENWorks clients. This will always put the files that you want on the "c: drive".
If you are using addon partitions in a script, you don't have to setup two partitions in them. You can just use the command line to direct the partition in the image to whatever partition you want locally.
Here is my script that I run to push down drivers for a specific image after the main OS and Novell client images have been multicast.
    Code:
    # This will auto detect the System Model and install appropriate image #
#Path for driverbase on server sleszen:/var/opt/novell/zenworks/content-repo/images
    driverbase=addons/
    #Set cpumodel
    cpumodel=`dmidecode -s system-product-name`
#Model specific image to Windows partition (p2)
    img rp $PROXYADDR "$driverbase$cpumodel.zmg" a1:p2
    reboot
The relevant line is - img rp $PROXYADDR "$driverbase$cpumodel.zmg" a1:p2
This directs the image partition a1 to the local partition p2

  • Mail Profiles Being Deleted After Office 2010 to 2013 Deployment

I am deploying Outlook 2013 to user in our environment that has Outlook 2010 presently. Many users have additional attached mailboxes to their Outlook profile. After the deployment the default profile for Outlook in the Mail control panel is removed. Is
there a way to make sure the profile and the user settings do not go away on an upgrade? I'm using a .msp created in the OCT to do this.
    Thanks!

Did you retain the default settings in OCT for handling Outlook?
By default, mail profile settings and data are migrated/preserved.

  • Uninstall Office 2010/2013 to deploy Office 365 ProPlus

    following clarification is needed:-
some of the pc is installed with Office 64 Bit edition, we are trying to remove the existing office (desktop) before deploying office 365 ProPlus. SCCM 2012 R2 is going to be used to uninstall office. my question is that can I remove/uninstall 64 bit Office
using 32 Bit setup.exe or it has to be 64 bit for 64 bit office and 32 bit setup.exe for 32 bit office.
also if I am looking for assistance to create query that can result in 64 bit and 32 bit office using SCCM. please paste the query in the response if possible.
    Thanks

I would recommend that deploy a script that first removes the old version of Office and then Deploy the new version.
My favorite script tool to use with SCCM is the PowerShell App Deployment Toolkit, and that would be great in this example too.

  • Office 2010 User Settings NOT Migrated After Uninstall-Upgrade to 2013

    Greetings,
We are in the final stages of preparing for an enterprise rollout of Office 2013, upgrading our user base from Office 2010. When we deployed Office 2010, we used the Office scrubber tool to remove Office 2003 and install Office 2010. Employing this same
    technique, which is
fully documented by Microsoft as the recommended approach, the user settings from Office 2010 do not migrate to Office 2013. For example, the default save paths. If you set this to say, "C:\Temp", in Office 2010, that path will be changed
after upgrading to 2013. There are other settings impacted as well and hoping that someone has seen this or knows what might be going on. The method we've used during pilot is an in-place upgrade from 2010 to 2013 and that will retain settings but we also
see cases where the upgrade isn't clean and components of Office 2010 can be left behind. It is critical to a successful deployment that the uninstall-upgrade approach works flawlessly.
    Thanks,
    Doug

    Hi Jori,
There are three types of permissions in the Manage User Permissions in User Profile Service Application(UPS): Create Personal Site, Follow People and Edit Profile and Use Tags and Notes.
If all the three permissions have been revoked from the user, then the user will not existed in the Manage User Permissions in UPS.
So you don’t need to anything else to remove the users from Mange User Permission in UPS after revoking all the permissions from the user.
As for the error when accessing Mange User Permissions in UPS, I recommend to restart the User Profile Service and add the user account to the Administrators of the User Profile Service Application.
In Central Administration, highlight the User Profile Service Application and then click Administrators in the ribbon.
If above cannot work, please provide more error message for the correlation ID in ULS log for further research.
For SharePoint 2013, by default, ULS log is at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\15\LOGS.
    Best regards.

  • Add Lync 2010 To Existing Office 2010 ProPlus Deployments?

Office 2010 ProPlus was deployed with Word, Excel PowerPoint and Outlook 2 years ago.  We are now going to deploy Lync 2010 and need an easy way to add Lync to the existing Office installations.  On new installations we will add Lync as part of
    the build image.
We do not have SCCM.  Is there a user-friendly way to deploy the msp update file to existing Office installations that lack Lync that does not require SCCM?  I have thought of making some kind of startup script, but I don't think it will be a good
idea for that installation script to run at every reboot.  We only want it to run until Lync is installed and not again.
Also, some users have already installed a stand alone version of Lync 2010 on their systems that is not part of the Office Suite.  Will we need to remove that version before the version in the Office suite can be added or does the stand alone Lync installer
actually use and install the same files from the Office suite?

From memory, Lync2010, although it is an included benefit/entitlement within OFF2010ProPlus, doesn't install as part of the main suite setup.exe, there's a separate setup.exe/installer for Lync2010 ?
So, it shouldn't just be an MSPfile applied to modify ProPlus, you'll need to run the installer for Lync anyway?
You might want to create an MSPfile for the Lync installation, to get the desired installation experience+customisation.
Regardless, you should probably have a "wrapper" script, and in the script, do some kind of detection for Lync=present (maybe check the uninstall regkeys or check for presence of the exe under programfiles).
if found, then skip the installation step.
if absent, perform the installation step.
    similar to this:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff602181(v=office.14).aspx
There is also a separate Lync installer, for customers who don't have OfficeProPlus, and you may need to detect for that, and decide accordingly.

  • ZCM 11.2 Beta Windows 7 with Office 2010 imageing

Hi we are testing the ZCM 11.2 for imaging Windows 7 Clients.
Now we have a nice Bug with the new Image.
Fresh installation Win7 incl. Office 2010 syspreped --> imaged with zcm11.1 everything is normal (of cause image up/download is slow). Imaged with zcm11.2, the hole Office 2010 installation is dead, no Outlook Profile, starting Excel it will reinstall VB for Access, word will reconfig him self....(3rd party imaging tools work also fine). An Office repair fix it, but its not an solution.

    Hi Shaun,
One of my customers experienced the same thing, and when I looked at the image, all the 8.3 folder names have been removed by the imaging engine either during the image capture or during the image restore. Obviously, the issue with this that most applications relying on the PATH variable do not run correctly or do not run at all, as the PATH is full of 8.3 path names, but they cannot be resolved by the OS as they do not exists after the image restore (including the ZCM Agent commands such as zac).
Would you be so kind to put this onto the list of bugs please, as I don't know how to.
The conference calls for ZCM are at 4:30am NZ time and this is too early to attend and anyway they are not the right place to raise individual issues.

  • Lync 2013 OCT deployment on machines with Office 2010. Installation Failure

    Hi,
In our environment, we have Win7, Office 2010 x86. (no plans to upgrade all of Office to 2013 as yet)
I'm trying to deploy Lync 2013 x86, and have packaged an MSP using "setup /admin" for later deployment via SCCM.
Now I know there are no problems running Lync 2013 with Office 2010 as it works fine if you manually install.
Strange thing is, when I try running the setup with MSP for silent install, it runs silent and all looks well although all the Office Tools shortcuts are created and there are files under the Program Files folders for Office\15.0 as expected
but not Lync itself. ie: no lync.exe file or shortcuts.
Reviewing the setup log doesn't show any obvious errors that I can tell.
Also after this, if I go through the "Add/Remove Components" under Uninstall Programs\Lync 2013, and I can see in there that it DOES already show Lync as being installed, if I just click continue, it runs through the setup process and
    then Lync will be installed
I've also tried this same process using the Full "Office Pro Plus 2013" and only select Lync to install and the same thing happens.
Has anyone else come across this issue or could point me in the right direction.
For the OCT (setup.exe /admin) the only settings I've changed from defaults are:
    - Filled in the Organisation name
    - Set KMS licensing, display level to none and suppress modal
    - some regkeys for some default settings for GalDownloadInitialDelay, ShownFirstRunOptin
    - Force on Lync (Run from My Computer)
I'm running "setup.exe /adminfile Lync_x86.MSP" in my case to test this MSP.

I had the same issue. As soon as I updated to the latest Admin admx/opal files, it worked great.
    Cheers,
    JeffCSP

  • Deploying Presenter 8 on 64bit Win7 with 32bit Office

As stated above, my scenario is that we have a site license for Presenter and I need to be able to deploy to hundreds of machines.
I'm no beginner to the AAMEE tool as I've used it to deploy Master Collection and other suites over the years.
So far I've made two variations of the package with AAMEE:
    32Bit selected during the wizzard
    64bit selected during the wizzard
We currently deploy Office 2010 32bit to all our machines for increased compatibility.
All of our machines are 64bit Windows 7.
Past experience states that the AAMEE wizzard architecture choice must align with the architechture of the destined computer.
However, when deploying the 64bit package, Presenter installs succefully, but the Addon is not available within Office
If I deploy the 32bit version, it does not install succefully.  I've traced the Adobe logs and interestingly it first begins to error with prerequisit payloads VC redist 2008, 2010 x64 being missing. I've added them to the payload folder of the generated package and I get a bit further.
Now the VC redistributables fail due to a concurrently running MSI.
Keep in mind that I already have the pre-requisits installed on the destination machine (And I've tested removing them first too)
So I'm at a bit of a stand still. Has anyone encountered this issue and got a fix for me?
    Many thanks.

We are also having the same issue installing Presenter 8.
Windows 7 64bit SP1 with the latest security patches
Office 2010 32bit SP1 with the latest security patches.
    We are using  AAMEE 3.1.108.0
I can create the MSI package using the AAME tool but it won't install.  I get very generic errors.
Adobe, what's the solution? why make it so complicated?

  • Office 2010 deployment - wont apply custom .MSP file

    Hi all,
I am creating a new deployment environment for our company and having some issues with Office and adminfiles.
I basically cannot get setup to apply the custom MSP file from my network share, either using MDT application deployment, nor manually using the command prompt once the machine has been built.
I was also informed by several documents that any patches (which I assume to be MSP's and MSU's) that are present in the \Updates\ folder during setup will automatically be applied. This does NOT happen for me. It completely ignores my MSP when it's in there.
The error I get when trying to parse the admin file is pretty basic. It just says: "path or file specified with /adminfile did not contain any patches"
    This is the command i'm using: setup.exe /adminfile "Updates\mymsp.MSP"
I've also tried using the full path: setup.exe /adminfile "\\domain\server\apps\office\updates\mymsp.msp"
    None of that works.
    Any ideas??
NB. It DOES work when I copy the MSP file to a local disk and execute from there. That adds an unnecessary manual step to my builds though, which I want to be completely automated. It also means I have to create a batch file to copy it locally first.

    Hi Greg,
    do you use a config.xml?
Yes: Please add the following line to the config.xml:
    <Logging Type="Verbose" Path="%TEMP%" Template="Office_2010_ProfessionalPlus_Install(*).txt" />
No: Please create an empty config.xml and copy&paste the following line:
    <Configuration Product="ProPlusr">
    <Logging Type="Verbose" Path="%TEMP%" Template="Office_2010_ProfessionalPlus_Install(*).txt" />
    </Configuration>
The above lines are customized for Office 2010 ProfessionalPlus. Then run the setup again, include the config.xml-file:
    setup.exe /adminfile path\file.msp /config path\config.xml
The setup should write an extensive log to the temp-folder (%temp%). The logfile will show you, if setup can locate the specified msp-file and is able to parse it. If it does not work out, post the logfile here.

  • Office 2010 deployment package incomplete

I have been charged with the deployment of Office 2010 Pro Plus 32 bit.
Using the OCT package installs well and authenticates with KMS plus the installation of SP2.  The challange is the other 40 some odd patches don't install even though they are in the "updates" folder.  I have tested installation
of SP2 from 2 directions, both in the updates folder and as an .exe command line install and it works well and silently both formats.  My understanding is SP2 needs the reboot prior to installation of the other patches.
Looking for way to install those last patches to make a complete install in one swoop.
Working in a VM environment and can roll back and retest in short order.
    Lowell

The challange is the other 40 some odd patches don't install even though they are in the "updates" folder.
What kind of patches are they? Are those patches applicable to Office 2010 SP2? Please note that Office 2010 Service Pack 2 already includes lots of public updates that
    were released previous.
For troubleshooting purpose, please do below test:
Remove SP2 files from the Update folder, only include the patches and see if they got installed this time.
After installing Service Pack 2, please try to install those patches manually and see if they can be installed successfully.
Please have a try and feel free to post back with any findings.

  • Office 2010 post SP2 updates deploy with MDT

So I'm looking forward to deploy my office 2010 pro plus (VLK media, activating via KMS host) with MDT, and I have some configs setup using Office Customization Tool to install it. I have the SP2 installer that installs after Office 2010 is installed.
Everything works well, however until i realize that are still a few hundred MB's of update (security patches etc) after the SP2 install. So allowing MDT to install the update on run time is not ideal ( consumes more time and bandwidth) so my question is where
can I get all the post SP2 updates for office pro 2010? (I'm assuming they're all .msp files where i can dump it all into the update folder in office).
    Thank you for your feedback!

    Hi Jack,
Microsoft Office sustained Engineering team publish news about security updates, public updates, service packs for Office in this site:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/office_sustained_engineering/archive/tags/office+2010/default.aspx
You can find all the Office updates that released each month in this site. However, the updates that applicable to your computer are really depend on your setup environment, not all that released are applicable.
I would suggest you to go to Windows Update, and Check for updates. Windows Update will automatically search updates that are applicable to your computer. You can choose to download the updates manually and save it
    to your computer.

2013 installed. Currently my 2010 package is installing side by side with 2013 and has resulted in Office being corrupted. I have not been able to find a way to detect Office 2013 and bypass/skip installation. Please help. Thank you in advance.

    Hi,
You could simply use a Collection query and exclude all devices from the Office 2013 collection that already has Office 2010 installed.. If you deploy it it devices and not users that is..
