Window.opener doesn't work

I have a website that seems to have just broken with the 18 or 18.0.1 release. The specific code that is breaking is a call to window.opener.
The error I see in the console says: TypeError: window.opener.Assignments is undefined
I checked this with IE and FF on our test servers as well as our comparison server (runs last releases version of the code) and they all have the same problem so it's not something that changed in our codebase.
Can anyone tell me why there are javascript errors on calls to window.opener with the latest release and how I can work around this?

I think I found the answer to my own question. In case anyone stumbles on this and it's useful.
I think the problem was that the code was calling window.opener.form when it appears in firefox you have to call window.opener.document.form. Since both work in FF and IE and since it seems there are only a few places in the code where we aren't calling window.opener.document I'll just update the code to do that.

1. We are using SQL Server SSRS 2008 R2 in IE 11.0.9600.17501 environment ( Means we already have the latest IE 11 Patch )
2. Did you try put in Javascript in SSRS Cell -> Placeholder Properties -> Action -> URL?
i.e. ="javascript:void(window.open('"+ "http://www.google.com.au/" + "','_blank','scrollbars=true,status=true'))"
3. All reports are having the same phenomenon.
4. I used F12 and tried IE7, IE8, IE9, IE10 all same ( ALL couldn't POP UP window ).
5. Please refer to attachment, I found out that when I go to Cell -> Right click -> Inspect Element & change
target="_top" to
target="_self" then the problem gone.
BUT... how to set target="_self" in SSRS?

After Upgrading Acrobat Reader XI to Acrobat XI Pro the previewer in Outlook and Windows Explorer doesn't work. I have to set the default program for .pdf's to Acrobat Reader inorder for the previewer to work.

If I set the default program for viewing PDF as Acrobat XI Pro the a PDF file will open with Acrobat XI Pro, but in Outlook I will get a white screen and the information bubble "This file cannot be previewed because there is no previewer installed for it" and in Windows Explorer I get a white screen in the preview pane.

GPO "don't run specified windows applications" doesn't work to in win 8.1. any ideas why? it is enabled and list of progs is entered however I can still run all progs on list. This is a local machine not on a domain. I must
have this work to disable games, IE, MSpaint, etc. Computer has been restarted since enabling the GPO and also have enforced the GPO via CMD prompt. worked fine on windows 8 and 7.

That's the strangest behavior that I would imagine. Are you using the default vista aero theme or you have turned down or using custom theme and visual effects?

I don't understand what you mean. If you are concerned about viruses, in my understanding copying and opening a file from the internet which is what "Save image as" does, is less safe than coping and pasting pixels. Copying and pasting pixels is the same as coping and pasting text from your web browser, it can't execute hidden code. If that was possible everybody will get viruses at the moment text or pixels are displayed on your browser.
By the way when you view a page from the internet, image files are already downloaded in the temp folder of your computer but only the browser uses them unless you open them from there and use in another program. So if you have a virus protection the images are already scanned.

Crystal Report 13 with WPFon Windows XP doesn't work

I develop a Wpf application FrameWork 4.0 on Windows 7 64 bit with VS 2010 and Cr 13.
On my machine, no problem with Crytal Report
When I deploy my application on a Windows 7 32 bit : no problem with my crystal reports
When I deploy my application on a Windows XP 32 bit : the crystal reports doesn't work.
When the code arrive to rpt.SetDataSource or rst.SetParameterValue, my application close without any error message.
Strange : I deploy my application on 3 XP. On 2 XP, just after de deployement It has work (two times it has show the report) but then the application close. Uninstall all and reinstall, it has never worked again.
Some help please

Flashing in Windows Modes doesn't work

I'm running Windows Vista Business, and when I try to update my BIOS in windows mode, it fails.
I'm using MSI Live Monitor 3. After finding the bios (1.5), I use "windows mode" to flash.
A command-line window comes up, and I can see everything getting flashed. However, after it's done it reboots automatically. After both the initial splash-scrren and the SATA-screen showing my drives, I get an CMOS checksum failed error, and I can either start fiddleing with the setting themselves, or just use defaults.
I've tried both.
And after both times, after I get back to windows again, Live Monitor 3 says it has an update for me - bios 1.5. So I can only conclude it wasn't installed, somehow.
Before doing the install, I closed ALL programs, except windows itself. (I'm saying this, because Live Monitor 3 wishes me to close it..........)
I cannot flash via a floppy-drive because I don't have one.
Another problem is that DigiCell keeps telling med: "Failed to load driver". I have no idea what it even IS, but I'd just like to see what free software I get. :P
Thirdly, has anyone heard of problems with external USB drives and MSI mobo's? I have a 500gb My Book drive that throws I/O errors in Vista, but not in XP on another PC...
My PC is:
MSI P965 Platinum,
2.13ghz Core 2 Duo,
2048mb DDR2 RAM, 533 Mhz

It is indeed updated to 1.5 - I just didn't notice, since I had the full-logo thing on.
I also updated the drivers, but unfortunately that didn't help. :-(
I've been trying since friday to fix this both on the WD forum (http://websupport.wdc.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=5948) and on Microsoft's tech forum (http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.windows.vista.hardware_devices&tid=dc8d09ab-0d98-452c-b2d3-a0948f756dda&cat=en_us_9F280F8D-E6BF-F78C-234A-416CF09D5DC5&lang=en&cr=US&sloc=en-us&m=1&p=1)
but we've still been unable to fix it...
To be honest, I don't think it has anything to do with hardware. The drive doesn't work properly on this PC (MSI / Vista) but does on my laptop (Dell / XP), but it has to be checked...
Basically, it keeps throwing 0x8007045D I/O errors, but I can see noone in here has had similar problems.

Windows users doesn't work after migrating from old to new server!

We have done a complete re-install on our XServe with OD. We have about 10 Windows users, and after the installation all their settings and mail are gone. All the "normal" files are there though.
I'm not sure we have done it the right way though: We did a backup from the old server (a bootable copy with Super Duper), then we formatted and installed everything. We made new accounts (with different names if that's good to know) and copied the users home folders to the new location. The Mac clients seem to work good, but all the settings on the Windows clients are gone...
Is there an easier way to this? We still have the workable copy from the old installation. There seems to be some kind of export/import way to do this, but I haven't got a clue how to do that...

We didn't reintegrate smb.conf, but set the new server up just like the old one. We did however compare these files to see that the vital parts (netlogon, shares and so on, and of course basic settings) were correct.
We also copied the user files and profiles and made them identical on the new server, except for placing them under the new usernames.
Regarding the Local Settings folder, it doesn't exist on the old server, that's one of the weird things. We've checked the profile for a user on the client machine, and it is a roaming profile. That's why we're a bit puzzled as to why the login works and all files are there, but the user preferences and Outlook doesn't work.
I know I've read somewhere that the Local Settings aren't replicated like the other files in a roaming profile, but I haven't finished checking up on that. I wouldn't expect anything else than that Windows takes care of Outlook e-mail for a roaming profile as well though; I mean, the user must be able to read his/her mail from any computer in the domain, what else would the purpose of a roaming profile be?
Except for the weird thing about us not being able to find the user preferences or Outlook files for the client amongst the files on the server, I feel we're missing something; Apparently Windows isn't as straight forward as one would expect (not sure why I did expect anything, come to think of it).
We're going to give it a new go next weekend. Except for doing further research we're thinking of copying /etc/smb.conf and the files in /var/samba and /var/db/samba to the new server, along with exporting and importing the old user accounts to the new server, and then see if everything works as expected.
If so, we'll see if we can change the account names in a nice way, it's really desired to do so.
If not, we really need to do some more research, but if I'm not mistaking, the Samba-related files I just mentioned are the ones that pretty much make up the Windows Services in OS X, isn't that so?

I think my openAL software stuff doesn't work... I can't set X-fi on?Battlefield 2?and when I try to use sound on Eternal Lands, which contains openAL.dll, the game freezes. I have to set the BF2 sound settings to "high" to get the 3-d sound on, but it cause small freezes in sudden sound bursts like the repeated ticks of gunfire or the repeated zt of a helecopter blade, or a lot of people moving or a lot of grass making grass noise, etc, etc,etc. Also, when I try to use the "test" feature of CMSS-3d in gaming mode, the console freezes and the task manager shows it's using up one of my cores.

. I got the new drivers, but they did the same thing. This all started when I took it in to frys electro and had my Motherboard changed for a Nforce 680i to a Asus P5K-E/Wi-fi. Maybe they damaged the card?

My MAC still can't get mail out.
I did that (started to set up the MAIL Account) and it couldn't find the
outgoing mal server again. I called my ISP to make sure their server was
working. All is well there.They said it could be that some of the MAC
wireless settings had changed so we gave it the acid test of reality by
hardwiring the MAC (plugged it into) to the wireless network router.
I did that (plugged it in) and the MAC proceeded to complete the setting up of the MAIL
account. All of the inbox stuff is there but not the sentbox stuff. I now
have an "ON MY MAC item under my mail boxes that I never noticed before. If
we ever get this problem with getting mail out on the MAC will I ever be
able to get the outbox contents back?
At this point I thought all was well. I tried to reply to you on the MAC and
it still couldn't "find the server". Remember now it is still hardwired.
The ISP suggested changing the server to smtp.sentex.net. The MAC still did
not find the out server.
It shouldn't be a "wireless" issue or a "server spec issue" because this
ACER is right beside the MAC about 15 feet away from the wireless router and
is using the same outgoing server. And SAFARI is working as further proof of signal\connection.
Also the SEND icon in creating an email mode doesn't work now either, so I now can't even test the set up by attempting to sending an email.
Any suggestions?
WIN XP is starting to look pretty good compared to this O/S

Windows 7 doesn't work optimal

i've installed W7 with bootcamp and all the drivers + bootcamp 3.1 and bootcamp 3.2, but my graphics doesn't work optimaal. ormaal kleurt de taakbalk mee met de achtergrond, maar mijne is grijs - blauw en ik kan het niet veranderen bij mijn persoonlijke instelligen.
Wat moet ik doen?

Shorter battery life; hotter; trouble getting graphic device to be recognized; trouble getting latest ATI or Nvidia driver; almost no fan control for some systems.
Until you can download Boot Camp 3.2 alone directly (say from Boot CAmp Assistant, can't have just anyone unless they can verify they have 10.6.7) so you can avoid two year old buggy drivers.
Buggy? Yes. AppleHFS and MNT. Not like you can easily opt out of installing, or when installed, turn off the driver service like most.
Windows on Mac is not 100% seamless.
Of course I think people have a distorted idea that Mac OS is hand-crafted to fit and work perfect and that they need to have some hand-holding.
Boot CAmp Assistant gives me/us a lot of trouble having to explain how, or why someone can't, and why they may need to erase and restore to get contiguous free space.
Microsoft and Apple both under-estimate the minimum recommended partition space.
BCA should warn if partitioning will leave less than 20% free space.
Most VM installers will have recommendations for various guest OSs, so if someone wants 64-bit Windows it would have 40GB or more.
Support for linux native partitions? why Windows only?
There is a HUGE incentive: switchers; people that now need a Mac to interface with another Apple device.
My peeve: iTunes loses its playback screen image during videos (movie or music) if UAC blanks the screen. Come on, years of this. And I rate iTunes 64-bit on Windows the least well integrated and designed of anything I run or install (and I don't install or use any other Apple app if I can help it).

X11 forwarding from mac to windows laptop doesn't work

Hi,
I ssh into my mac computer from my windows laptop. However, the x11 forwarding is not working (ie, the x window is not forwarded to my laptop). I'm pretty sure this is a problem with the mac and not my laptop, because if I ssh into a unix machine the x window forwarding to my laptop works fine. Does anyone know how to get the x11 forwarding to work?

USB recovery media from Toshiba for Windows 7 doesn´t work

Recently as my laptop Potégé was slow I reinstalled Windows without using Toshiba recovery disks. Now I can't activate Windows 7 (64 bits), so I ordered a USB recovery media from Toshiba. I tried to use it but it doesn't work. I turn off the laptop, turn it on again pressing F12, -with the USB plugged to the laptop- and when I press HDD recovery, the system just takes me to Windows as usual, without reinstalling. Any thoughts on how to reinstall?

Are you getting a boot option menu when you press f12? Have you tried going into BIOS to check your boot order? Usually f2 or DEL will get you to BIOS, or at the bottom of the boot option menu (which I assume is f12). Once you are in BIOS, check that your USB drive is above the others in the boot order and save your configuration and reboot. If you are still having a problem, you might check to see how many USB devices you have plugged in, or chained, and remove the ones that are not necessary because they could interfere with booting to your USB drive. If you are using a USB hub, you might try putting the usb key into a different slot to give it priority over the other USB devices on boot up. The highest priority slot on a USB hub might be the one closest to the USB cable that plugs in to your laptop's USB port.

Upgrading with cd to windows 8 doesn't work

Last week I bought a laptop runned the lenovo upgrading cd to windows 8 that was delivered with my laptop. I completely followed the instructions. But while it was upgrading I already saw that some of the files weren't found. Later when the installation was done and windows restarted a couple times. I was getting a .exe file that was sayin that a certain file was not found in C. Windows doesn't work at all and needs to reboot everytime but noting happens.
I hope there was somebody with the same problem and fixed it or somebody knows what's wrong.

Thir first thing I would try is a fresh installation of windows 7. Have it perform a complete format of the drive, not a quick format. Make sure you delete all partitions. Also, make sure the DVD is clean. Another thing to look at is the memory. I would download memtest64 and run this on teh machine.

Opening links in a RSS feed using the Open in New Tab/Window command doesn't work in FF4. It worked perfectly in FF 3.6. What seems to be the problem?

I have set up a number of RSS feeds to open in folders underneath the search/address bar in Firefox. I use them mainly to follow news updates from newspaper websites etc. After installing FF4, the opening of links contained in those folders (lists of links) using right-click and selecting the Open in New Tab command stopped working. There is no response whatsoever - as if I didn't click the command.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
