Can i build in Forms 11g window that will not get a focus by mouse?
The window will show a canvas with buttons.

Activating a Window Without Focus

Hello,
I'm using LabVIEW 8.6, I would like to give an unusual behavior to a subVI window when opened: I'd like the window to be activated without giving focus to it. What I mean, is that I would like the window to be able to catch even on the front panel like keystroke or mouse click without giving focus to this window. I'd like the focus to stay on another window.
A good example of what I want to do is the microsoft visual keyboard installed with Windows: when the visual keyboard in open you can press any button without giving focus to the window. I'd like to reproduce the same behaviour with a labview window.
I don't think it's possible with properties or invoke node, I think there might be something to do with the use of user32.dll. If anyone as already done that, or knows how to do it, it would be great.

- Have you tried making the main VI modal? Steps are described in this KB
- To do this programmatically, you will need to use the lvwutil32.dll like here

Mouse clicks on windows without focus

Is there a way to recognize when a user is clicking on a defocused JFrame, to bring it to the front, as opposed to clicking to set a text cursor position within the JFrame? For example, if I click on a terminal emulator I've developed, the text cursor within the emulation window goes to the click, even if the emulator is only being clicked to give it focus. (I've also noticed a similar phenomenon with JBuilder, by the way.)
By comparison, look at any native Windoze or Macintosh application; very few (if any) behave that way.

This must be very hard for LabView to do. I just need to use LabView to run another application. Then have labview emulate a mouse click on that application. I have found out the windows message using Spy++ for the mouse click. Now in LabView I need to move the mouse to a certain position on that application. How could LabView know where to move the mouse cursor. I found some move cursor vi on this forum, then the coordinate of the position on the application (the active window) is not known. Do I need to map out the position in advance using Spy++? That seems not reasonable as later on the position may change.
LabView is indeed good for Hardware automation and data acquisition, but when it comes to performing some software automation tasks (i.e., runing a couple of other applications automatically), it doesn't seem to be powerful at all, unless the other applications are ActiveX capable, or you have their code to build Dlls. Most of time, one only need to automate the process of running a couple of other programs, then have data presented.

OPENING A NEW BROWSER TAB/WINDOW WITHOUT NAVIGATING TO IT

I am using flex navigateToUrl( urlRequest, "_blank"); function to open a new browser window. What it does is it also navigates to newly opened window by default. I want to remain in the same page, but still open this new window without focusing it.

Changing focus of windows without mouse click (X-mouse)

X-mouse allows you to, with mouseover, activate and use windows without having to draw them to the front. So you can, for example, hover your cursor over a window that's only partially visible type to it without it coming to the front. It was one of my favorite add-ons in Windows (I used TweakUI to activate it).
However, despite looking long and hard, I have not seen anything remotely like it available for Mac. I know that the capability exists, because occasionally it works automatically (for example within the Finder).
Has anyone found a way to do this in Leopard?

My problem is that often I like to keep track of multiple windows, and it's just annoying to be shuffling through them all the time -- one is often just a background window that I want to type things into time and again.

Lightroom and Windows mouse focus issues.

In one aspect Lightroom have been always behaving different from other Windows application: Its speed of grabbing mouse focus and moving window to the foreground is exaggerated. This problem will be observed only by people using their WinXP computers in "X11 mode", like with Unix, what allows to perform interaction with processes associated with windows without ever clicking on, or raising such window. Should you be working on large computer clusters as I do, this focusing feature its a blessing.
This how you can reproduce: Use Tweak UI to adjust the mouse behavior. Select "Mouse," step down to "X=Mouse" and check "Activation follows mouse." Do not select "autoraise."
Now your WinXP will behave similar to the real X11 xterm with mouse having the "no raise selection" policy. Its not quite identical to xterm, but it really works perfectly in most cases.
Except... well, except with Lightroom. Lightroom grabs the pointer and pushes the window to the foreground in splits of a second. For example, go to
"Help|About Adobe Lightroom" to see the credit window. It appears than as usual, but since the help menu will be dismisses, the pointer stands on the main Lightroom window, what makes the credits window vanish in split of a second. No chance to see it!
Another case: Assume that Lightroom uses almost the entire desktop down to the task bar, and your browser window is smaller. Select the browser on the taskbar and try to move mouse to it. No chance! Lightroom will take over and pop itself to the foreground again. The only solution is to minimize Lightroom. And than sometimes something happens that Lightroom will not restore itself anymore! The "Restore" operation is grayed out, one can only Maximize it. We have reported this numerous times before.
I am aware that this problem relates only to WinXP users with X11 mouse mode, but with Lightroom reaching now a high degree of maturity, maybe we could take a look at this problem as well?

In order to overcome most of the known navigation and/or focus issues you need to be using the following:
<li>Forms 10.1.2.3 or newer (latest is 11.1.2). If/when you are using 10.1.2.3 you would also need to install patch ID 9593176 as this contains additional fixes for focus issues.
<li>JRE 1.6.0_26 or newer (latest is 1.6.0_30). The latest is always recommended as it contains the most up to date fixes for both technical issues and security issues.

Actually the senario is when i click on a button, another jsp page should be displayed in a modal window without popup, but the functions alert() and confirm() will not accept the url path of the another jsp page...

How can i open a document from mac when i am using windows without transferring it?

depend on the document program more then anything else really
when ever I open a doc with word it make a history for undo and redo action file in the same dir
with bootcamp you only have read not write access to the osx partition so it would fail to be able to create that file
but if you can get word or whatever program you use to open the file not to place a temp file in the same dir
or use a program which did not make any type of temp file or used a program where the temp file would be located elsewhere where you decide it would work file

How to open a new browser window without toolbar, location, and menu bars from AIR?

I have the following problem in my Flex+AIR application. I need to embed an ActiveX component that has JavaScript API inside my application. I tried to embed it inside <mx:HTML> component but unfortunately, AIR doesnot support plug-ins or ActiveX controls. So I've decided to open it in a new browser window. I tried navigateToURL(...) method but it has two problems - it is opening a new tab in the existing browser window and there is no way for me to configure the new browser window appearance, like removing toolbar, menu bar, location bar, etc. Then I tried to open a new window from JavaScript running inside <mx:HTML> component using window.open(...) API but it doesn't open a new window at all.
Is there any way for me to open a new browser window without toolbar, location bar, etc. (which will run ActiveX control, so it cannot be AIR window) from inside AIR?

You can create a javascript to window.open having toobar, menubar or statusbar=0. The page content can be customized per need. Call this javascript from a link or button click using javascript:popup_window();
For example,

I'm using VS2003 with Crystal Reports for VS2003.
I need to show a popup window clicking a hyperlink text object on my crystal report.
On the CrystalReportViewer I have set up HyperlinkTarget=_blank, and it's working fine.
But when I click on the hyperlink and shows the popup window, how can I show the popup window without menubar, toolbar, directories, etc.
Something like:

Adam is correct. The closest you can get is setting the CrystalReportViewers HyperlinkTarget to _blank. It was seen as a potential security vulnerability to allow you to run scripts from a Crystal Reports. In our Enterprise product you can use a reg key called EncodeHTMLForSingleLineFieldObjects to control whether this can be turned on or off.
Unfortunately this was never ported over to our .NET CrystalReportViewer.

Firefox asks (twice) to save and close tabs, on new open windows without tabs, when i close them.

About one month ago, i started to receive a message box from firefox, asking if i wanted to save and close tabs, on newly open windows (and pop-ups) without any tabs open on them.
And everytime i close the windows without tabs, firefox asks it twice...
I did not made any changes, so i don't know why it started doing this.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

How do I Link to _blank window without headers?

I am creating a page that links to a flash slide show. When
the user clicks on the link to the slideshow, I want the flash
movie to open up in its own window, without all of the usual
Explorer toolbars and menus at the top of the page. I set the link
to _blank, so I do get a separate window. Now, what is the trick to
getting rid of the junk at the top of the page?
I know it can't be very difficult, but I'm puzzled.
