There is a good read on how to do this located here:
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/alejacma/archive/2008/03/11/how-to-change-registry-permissions-with-regini-exe-vbscript.aspx
This is using a VB Script.  I would also just advise taking great care when setting permissions on reg keys or editing the registry in any way.
Hopefully this helps.

  • Do i put -private-window in the command line of the shortcut?

    can someone show me what to do with the -private-window command line of the shortcut? I have windows 8 pro. I want to make a shortcut for this. Thanks

    Hi lolnyancats,
    there are multiple ways how to start Firefox in private browsing mode. If you want to use a shortcut parameter, follow the instructions below:
    # Create firefox shortcut;
    # Right-click on the shortcut, choose properties;
    # Edit location (not name), file path and file name followed by the command line argument "-private", e.g.: "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -prvate;
    # Save changes.
    When you double click the modified shortcut you have just created, Firefox will start in private browsing window.

  • Is it possible to change network adapter priority in windows 7 by command line?

    Ik need to change my users network adapters so that the LAN network adaperts have a higher priority than the WLAN adapters.
    I would prefer to do it trouhg a command line so that is can distrubute it with SSCM.
    Can annybody help me??

    I've found the following Blog article for you:
    http://win7settings.blogspot.be/2012/04/how-to-set-network-adapter-priorities.html
    From the Command Line
    Unfortunately there is no out-of-the-box command line interface for these Advanced settings described above. Luckily, there are two ways to set the priorities from the command line. The more difficult way is to set metrics for each network adapter (using netsh). The much easier way (easier to manage too) is to use nvspbind made by Microsoft. If you set the priorities using nvspbind, the effects can also be seen in the Advanced settings in ncpa.cpl. Here is how you use nvspbind:
    Go to http://archive.msdn.microsoft.com/nvspbind and download nvspbind. Extract the nvspbind.exe and copy it to the target machine and run:
    nvspbind.exe /++ "Wireless Network Connection" ms_tcpip
    nvspbind.exe /++ "Wireless Network Connection" ms_tcpip6
    nvspbind.exe /++ "Local Area Connection" ms_tcpip
    nvspbind.exe /++ "Local Area Connection" ms_tcpip6
    And that's it! You're done.
    This will set the priorities (IPv4 and IPv6) to:
    1. LAN
    2. WLAN
    3. WAN (if present)

    There is a tool in one of the MS kits that allows you to take a command line
    and make it into a service. Use that.

  • Access Offline Registry via Command Line

    Thanks, everyone.
    The goal is to do
    this inside a windows PE. Specifically it is for taking care of infection. I know it can be done with regedit, but I want this done automatically. Not asking for the work to be done for me, but I can't find any document on how to access offline registries
    with the reg command. Can I simply
    reg add "C:\Windows\System32\config\software\HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings" /v ProxyEnable /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f
    ? The project is all written in batch, fyi.
    Also, hate to be a bother, but if anyone could mention in passing any available scripts made by anyone which do PE cleanups of the operating system, I'm looking for those to, but haven't had time to dig yet.

    The command
    reg /?
    tells you about reg load and reg unload which are the switches to use when modifying an offline registry. I recommend you begin by using regedit.exe to load/unload a hive in order to familiarise yourself with the process.
    About a cleanup script - you will have to find the time to do your own search, maybe using a search engine.

  • Is there a command line option for VNC to automatically launch in fullscreen mode?

    I can launch a VNC window from the command line, as such:
    open vnc://username:password@hostname

    I'm using an old MacMini purely to connect to another Mac over screen sharing, but when the MacMini boots I'd like it to go straight into the fullscreen of the other desktop.

  • Command line

    Hi, I'm new to java and do not understand why when I run this program with the argument * I get a list of files in my current working directory. Can someone explain this?
    class test{
    public static void main(String args[]){
    for (int i = 0;i < args.length; i++) {
    System.out.println("File " + i + ":" + args);
    if (args.length<=0) {
    System.out.println("No files!");
    At prompt --
    c:\> java test *
    would then return list of files.

    Firstly, I'm sick of Windows bashing. My logic is, if it sucks so much, then why is it so popular and why, when I go to the local video game store, are 85% of the games on the shelf for Windows, 10% for Mac, and 5% for Linux? But that's besides the point.
    jschell is right again (as usual), jaylogan. You should listen to him. In Windows, all the command line wildcard expansion is not done by the shell, it's done by the program. If you write some console applications in C/C++, you'll see that passing * as a command line parameter does not cause the expanded file list to be substituted instead (unless you link to some library whose name I can't remember). Ok, so, you type 'dir *.java' and it works, and 'dir' is built in to DOS, so I guess you could say, in that case, the shell is doing it... but it doesn't just automatically do it every time you enter a command, as Linux does.
    Additionally, if you actually print args[i] instead of args, you'll see that when you do pass * on the command line, you'll get the files in the working directory, but if you pass "*", the only command line parameter that will get printed is a single asterisk. The reason for this is that enclosing it in quotes tells 'java' that you wanted it to be treated literally and not processed into anything else. The JVM strips the quotes off and does no further processing.

  • Looking for a programmatic/command line approach to auditing registry changes

    Hello I am on a macbook pro (retina IOS 9) i have installed xcodes and command line tools but codeblocks does not compile, terminal gives this message /Users/MacPc/Desktop/Untitled1: Permission denied      any one has a solution?? please...

    Back up all data before proceeding.
    This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership, permissions, and access controls to the default. If you've intentionally set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it, but you do need to follow the instructions below.
    Step 1
    If you have more than one user, and the one in question is not an administrator, then go to Step 2.
    Triple-click anywhere in the following line on this page to select it:
    sudo find ~ $TMPDIR.. -exec chflags -h nouchg,nouappnd,noschg,nosappnd {} + -exec chown -h $UID {} + -exec chmod +rw {} + -exec chmod -h -N {} + -type d -exec chmod -h +x {} + 2>&-
    Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
    Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
    You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
    The command may take several minutes to run, depending on how many files you have. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
    Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1, if you prefer not to take it, or if it doesn't solve the problem.
    Start up in Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
              Utilities ▹ Terminal
    from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open. In that window, type this:
    res
    Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
    Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
    Select your startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
    Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
    Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
               ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

  • Windows 7 Defrag from command line does not work

    We are running Windows 7 in a virtualized environment. When running windows defrag using schedule or from command line, it does not work. The command that I am executing as administrator is
    C:\Windows\system32>defrag /c
    Microsoft Disk Defragmenter
    Copyright (c) 2007 Microsoft Corp.
    It displays the above message and exits back to the command prompt. However if I run the command defrag C: it does work. Defragmenting from the GUI works as well as long as both the disks (C: and System Reserved) are selected and when I click on
    Defragment disks, works fine.
    I am concerned about defrag running from the task scheduler with the command "defrag /c" (auto scheduled using Configure Schedule... from Disk Defragmenter) does not work and the system never gets defragmented automatically.
    This happens only with some of the windows 7 VM's that we have.
    There are no entries in Event Log that point to the defrag (using task scheduler). Any ideas what may be going on?

    Hi,
    Could you defrag as below method:
    1. Open Disk Defragmenter by clicking the Start button. In the search box, type
    Disk Defragmenter, and then, in the list of results, click
    Disk Defragmenter.
    2.Under Current status, select the disk you want to defragment.
    3.To determine if the disk needs to be defragmented or not, click Analyze disk. Administrator permission required If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    Once Windows is finished analyzing the disk, you can check the percentage of fragmentation on the disk in the
    Last Run column. If the number is above 10%, you should defragment the disk.
    4.Click Defragment disk. Administrator permission required If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

  • Webstart-deployed desktop app, command line and Windows ShellExecute.

    Hi all,
    I want to be able to associate Windows Shell registry actions (shellExecute from right click menu, double click, and protocols) with a Webstart Java Swing desktop app. This is pretty key to our deployment strategy.
    I have two options that I'm pursuing right now.
    OPTION A
    Unfortunately I'm encountering a few problems:
    1) javaws.exe does not accept parameters, therefore I can't pass parameters directly from a Windows command line
    2) The only way to get arguments in is through the jnlp file. Sounds like this is possible using a jnlp written by a servlet. But can I just pass GET parameters to my servlet like so?
    http://webstart.com/go/?param=value&param2=value2Would that work?
    2a) subissue: I want to use JNLP's SingleInstance to make sure that only one of my app is running at any time. It sounds like that JNLP interface also allows for new parameters to be passed in as arguments... but if I pass in parameters to my webstart address, will SingleInstance properly recognize that http://webstart/go and http://webstart/go?param=value are the same program?
    OPTION B
    So the alternative deployment strategy that I'm contemplating is using webstart, but then deploying a separate .jar to the machine and registering that to be the argument acceptor from Windows. So windows would run something like so:
    java -jar cmdLauncher.jar argshereFrom there I will do two things:
    a) If the program is already running, then I pass the argument in using network sockets and deal with it like so.
    b) If the program isn't already running, then I execute javaws http://myurl and then maybe write to the socket when it's ready. This might really suck since i'll have to poll until the socket is ready.
    Anyway, was hoping someone with more webstart internals had some idea as to
    a) would a option A (dynamic servlet) work in the way I expect?
    b) Is option B the only way to really do it? It certainly seems feasible at this point.
    Ideally I just wish javaws.exe allowed passing arguments, and thus this entire problem would not exist. It's a pretty powerful and important feature for WebStart to be able to be a fully featured deployment solution.

    OPTION A
    Unfortunately I'm encountering a few problems:
    1) javaws.exe does not accept parameters, therefore I
    can't pass parameters directly from a Windows command
    line
    2) The only way to get arguments in is through the
    jnlp file. Or the SingleInstanceService.
    ....Sounds like this is possible using a jnlp
    written by a servlet. But can I just pass GET
    parameters to my servlet like so?
    http://webstart.com/go/?param=valuem2=value
    2Would that work?Huh? Assuming the servlet that produces the
    launch file fir this application is called 'go', and that
    servlet returns the correct content-type, and writes
    the two params in the URL into the JNLP as
    arguments, then.. yes - this should work.
    http://webstart.com/go?param=valuem2=value2Note the lack of one '/'.
    ( I have not had much direct experience with
    JNLP combined with servlets, but am familiar
    with both. )
    2a) subissue: I want to use JNLP's SingleInstance to
    make sure that only one of my app is running at any
    time. It sounds like that JNLP interface also allows
    for new parameters to be passed in as arguments...
    but if I pass in parameters to my webstart address,
    will SingleInstance properly recognize that
    http://webstart/go and http://webstart/go?param=value
    are the same program?As I understand from my experience, the URL
    becomes redundant, any params that were in
    the JNLP are ignored in preference to the single
    -open argument. Here is my buildable example..
    http://www.physci.org/jws/#sis
    a) would a option A (dynamic servlet) work in the way
    I expect?Sounds like it.

  • How can I start a second window of a second profile through the command line?

    I have two profiles set up, 'default' and 'second'. If both are already running how can I start a second window of profile 'second'?
    firefox -p 'second' : opens a new window of the default and,
    firefox -p 'second' -no-remote : tells me that firefox is already running.

    I don't think that this is possible.<br />
    You need to open this second instance (Firefox profile folder) with the -no-remote command line switch and that makes it impossible to open external links via the command line or via a double-click.<br />
    You can only open a link in such an instance by dragging the link on the tab bar of that Firefox window.

Is there something that prevents me from testing out my Java concurrent program on my Windows machine from the command line?

    i think if u run the ap in the command line then it has to stay open, you could try writing a .bat file then when that is executed it will only open the command line for the program execution (i think)
