Windows 7 Supported replacement for Photosmart 8750

Hi;
It seems that the ToolBox is not available for the HP Photosmart 8750 under Windows 7 64bit.
Is there an equivalent that anyone would recommend which is supported?
Thanks
Bob

Thanks Ed.
I think you or your organization is confusing which is the 'client' and which is the 'server' in an x-windows configuration. They very well may be--including me. Recently, tech support came by and removed "X Server" software from two of my colleagues' laptops. They said a security scan had identified an "X Server" on their XP laptops and, as such, had to be uninstalled. Could Hummingbird Exceed also be considered an "X Server" and thus not legitimately be allowed to exist on our laptops? I always thought an "X Server" would run on a Linux server, where the Oracle instances reside. And you would initiate a session from a Windows PC or laptop using an X Client (similar to how you would use a SQL*PLUS client to interact with a remote database server).
Personally I use Xming on my desktop to handle 'x' output from my servers. It's free and lightweight. Thanks for the Xming reference. I'd seen that in my googling but didn't know if that would be allowed in our environment. The one complaint I've heard about Cygwin so far is that it's a pain to get up and running. But that it's fantastic once functioning. Always wanted to have *nix-like powers on my PC, e.g. grep, piping input/output from commands around, etc. And maybe even use VI... I know some hate it, but with the right keystrokes you can write a lot faster with VI than with a GUI-based editor.
Dana.

Apple only supports Windows on certain hardware.
    http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
Apple provides their framework for Windows to run on a Mac, a piece of software called a Hybrid MBR that bridges the gap between how Windows reads the drive partition table (MBR) and EFI/GUID partition table that Mac's use.
It doesn't mean Windows can't run on your Mac, a third party solution called rEFIt will also bridge the gap and allow booting of more that just Windows, Linux as well for a triple booting computer.
Your hardware has to meet the other requirements the second and third operating system needs as as being able to install drivers that will work for your hardware, especially the fans or they will run loud and fast by default.
    http://refit.sourceforge.net/
This above is a advanced procedure which requires knowledge how computers and various operating systems, drive formats and so forth work.
I even admit I don't know everything myself, but I experiment on a separate piece of Mac hardware (out of warranty/AppleCare) designed for this purpose so in case something screws up I'm not taking down my only machine and can use the other to get online and find solutions.
There is a very high potential for losing your data if your using advanced/non-Apple methods to install Windows on your only Mac where Apple doesn't support it. Also one shouldn't be doing this on Mac hardware that is under AppleCare or warranty as it might be voided. Proceed at your own risk and education.

  • How do I download the Windows Support Software for MacBook Mid-2010 ?

Hey guys, I've got quite a big problem at the moment... In December, I bought a MacBook7,1 (the Mid-2010 Unibody model) and used my OS X install disc whenever I wanted to install Windows XP/Vista/7 drivers to my Boot Camp partition. However, I've recently got quite a bit of a problem...
See, I can't find my OS X Install Disc. So I have to use, from within the Boot Camp Assistant, the "Download the Windows support software for this Mac" function, to be able to burn to DVD/install to a USB stick.
Now, this function up until recently used to work completely fine - no issues at all. However I need to reinstall my Windows 7  (again, I know, Windows has quite a few problems but I really do need to use it for what I do - gaming, etc) again, and whenever I try this option in the last... week, I'd wager, it comes up with "Download could not be continued" and "The Windows Support Software is unavailable" errors.
I've checked on this forum and some people are saying that Apple removed the support software for some Macintosh computers? What on Earth? What about us lot who don't have our OS X install discs anymore?! I don't think it's fair they've specifically gimped a functionality that was working fine until a bit ago for no apparent reason. It's just... stopped working. Is this for everyone?
Is there some alternative I can use? I've tried everything. I don't have someone I could just borrow the OS X install disc from and I think it's rather unfair if they expect to me to shell out for an OS X install disc again when I could previously do what I wanted for free!!!

The point isn't whether I lost them, the point is that I was able to use the Boot Camp Assistant previously fine to download the Win Support Software and put that on a USB stick (which has since been formatted for other usage).
Since this was made available as an option, I haven't really had much need for the OS X install discs (Unless I really, really needed to reinstall OS X at some point but I have no reason to fear that right?). To claim this being "okay" because I've misplaced the discs is rather outrageous.

  • I can´t find windows support files for boot camp

I can´t find windows support files for boot camp

    Boot Camp Assistant
If you can't download, go to Network control panel and check your settings there, look to see if there is more than one interface listed. And turn off "Auto-proxy setting" and see if that helps, it does in half the cases.
The only thing really needed would be a small Apple Software Update for Windows program to pull the drivers down while running Windows. Just that one program, which could update itself as happen with 2.0 and 2.1 version.
As it is, downloads can take 8 hrs for a tiny 620MB package. Strange. True. Been like this.

  • Where i can get the windows support software for bootcamp?

lost my mac os x installation disk and need the windows support software for bootcamp. have a 17" mac book pro bought 08/2010... where i can get it?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
You'll have to purchase another copy of the OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard' disc, because that disc is the only source of Boot Camp 3.0 drivers.
The Boot Camp 3.1 and Boot Camp 3.2 drivers and some recent machine-specific updates are available online from Apple here: http://support.apple.com/downloads/#Boot%20Camp

  • Windows support software for bootcamp 5.1.2

Hey guys, I just finished installing windows 8.1 for my mac (MacBook Pro mid 2012). I realised that keyboards function aren't working (sound, light, etc.) and no wifi. It's because I do not have the driver install. The problem is, I cannot find windows support software for bootcamp 5.1.2 at all. Can anyone help me out here? Thanks!

Boot Camp Assistant gives you an option to download support software during initial setup. If you have skipped this step, you can try with this download: https://support.apple.com/kb/dl1720?locale=en_GB
If that won't work for you, you might have to remove Boot Camp partition and setup all over again.

  • WINDOWS SUPPORT SOFTWARE FOR MACBOOK AIR 2014

Does anyone know if there is a windows support software for MacBook Air 13 inches 2014 version?
    I do need it desperately

Again, what do you mean by a Windows Support Software?
Bootcamp will allow you to install Windows on a Mac. Beyond that what else do you need?
The instructions don't mention anything about Support Software.
How to install Windows using Boot Camp - Apple Support
For All intents and purposes Bootcamp is the software that supports Windows installations.

How do I download the windows support software for my Mac? I am getting an error  message saying that the software is not available

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
I do not recommend you to download the Windows support software through Boot Camp Assistant.
Instead, you can download the Windows support software for most Macs from the Apple website. Go to this website, look for your MacBook Pro model and the Windows version you want to install, and follow its steps.

  • Download windows support software for mac book air running Mac oS Lion.. too slow in bootcamp

    Hi guys,
Do you know a site which I could download the windows support software for my mac book air running MAC OSX Lion. Using bootcamp takes a very long time and seems to be stuck. Any help is highly appreciated.
    Thanks.

Whart exactly are you having problems with?
Installing Boot Camp, manually updating the B.C. Drivers, Apple software update updating the drivers, or Windows Software updates?
You will or have a full Windows install. _ALL_ Microsoft Windows software is through Microsoft or 3rd partys. Apple just supplies the drivers for their hardware to be run in Windows.
If you want to manually install the Boot Camp drivers then try here?:
    http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
Underneath the hardrive picture is a link for _Downloads_, it shows up as an error in my browser but when i put in "Boot Camp" in the "Search Downloads" bar I got a large list.
    Hope that helps.....

  • Windows support software for os x lion help!

Hi i already downloaded the windows support software for bootcamp. but when i switched to my windows and tried to run the setup.exe file it doesnt seem to run. A command prompt-like box seems to appear and disappear in a second and then nothing happens after that. where am i doing it wrong?

When the installer window ask's you what you want to do, Run File or Open Folder, open folder and install the drivers manually.
Try right clicking the file and run as administrator, or right click and run in compatitbility mode.
Or drag the Whole file over to the Windows desktop and try the different ways again.
Try a search and there will be more extensive instructions on how to do it if you don't understand.

  • Dowloading windows support software for mac broken?

Ive got my copy of windows and Ive set up my partition for boot camp but when I try to download windows support software. It just says "Download could not continue. The Windows support software is not available". Is there a place to download it or a way to fix it? Because when I continue without download this sofware I get stuck at:
    "1.
    2.
      Select CD-Rom Boot Type:_"
My keyboard no longer works so Im guessing this is because there are no drivers for my apple keyboard.
    Any help is appreciated.

    So it's midnight..
Duke Nukem demo just came out, and I want to play it.
    My DVD is at home.
The option says "I have my disc" or "I don't have my disc".
At the moment, I don't have my disc, so I click "I don't have my disc".
Then it says "error, it's broke".
I come here, and it everyone says "you need your disc".
Well, now I have a macbook PRO, that can't play my game, and I'm irritated.
    Microsoft wouldn't do that.

  • Cant find "windows support software" for bootcamp

I am trying to restart bootcamp. I keep getting stuck by no windows support software.
    any though?

    Hi,
apart from the MacBook Air this feature is of no use for other Macs right now.
Simply ingnore it (click "I already have the Drivers...) and continue with the installation.
The OSX Snow Leopard Install DVD that came with your Mac includes the BootCamp Driver for installation after you have installed Windows.
Once installed you can then update the Drivers (versions 3.1 and 3.2) which can be downloaded from Apples Support website.
Refer to the BootCamp Install Guide inside the BootCamp Assistant
    Regards
    Stefan

  • How can I download Windows support software for Macbook1,1 with SL ?

How can I reach the drivers manually?

Bootcamp assistant quits with "The Windows support software is not available".
Doesn't make sense why it would tell you that. The 3.x drivers for both the 64 and 32 bit versions of Windows 7 can be downloaded from Apple's own site.
64 and 32 bit 3.1 update drivers after applying the initial drivers from your Snow Leopard DVD within Windows 7:

  • Windows support software for os x lion?

    Hello all,
I have been banging my head against the wall on this one all day. I am working off a brand new macbook pro. I have installed windows 7 using boot camp assistant without any issues. Now where do you get the windows support software? The download option inside of the boot camp assistant does not work, that only works on air's as far as I can tell. So where are you supposed to get the windows support software from being as there is no dvd associated with Lion?
Been on hold with support for a half hour...was this just a giant oops by apple?
Boot camp assistant 4.0 is the version being used.

Just an update. For whatever reason the download option would not work in my specific circumstances. I eventually got bounced up to a senior assistant and he had to grab a copy of the drivers internally and give me an ftp link. Not smooth but it is working. Thinking I am going to be reverting to snow leopard I can't handle the features of Lion anyways...

Advanced Network: Proxy Settings, I uncheck "Auto Proxy detection" and make sure you have the interface you use selected and none others.
"Go into System Preferences - Network - Advanced - Proxies  Uncheck "Auto Proxy Discovery", click OK, Apply"
After Unchecking "Auto Proxy Discovery" I also had to Uncheck "Use Passive FTP Mode (PASV)" and then Restart Boot Camp Assistant.
odiggy's comment and tried restarting Boot Camp Assistant. That did the trick, even though the Auto Proxy Discovery checkbox ended up the same as it started.  Windows support software is now downloading...  if you're downloading to an external drive make sure there's a least 1 GB of free space because the WindowsSupport folder is around 700 MB and presumably will grow with time.

Also, Change Domain Name Servers to OpenDNS IP address servers - that should be at the router firewall rather than the OS but may be in both for some people. You may be using the defaults your ISP uses, save those if you want, and try these:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
Make sure you are not using LittleSnitch or Symantec (probably other 3rd party firewall)
