Windows 8, Firefox 16.02 won't install due to side-by-side configuation
Using a Sony Vaio laptop. Bought today.
Able to install Firefox 3.6. But not 16.02.
When an attempt to install Firefox 16.02 is performed, an error message appears with the following.
"The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuation is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail"
Happens every time. Though Firefox 3.6 will work fine. Not perfectly, but fine.
hello, windows 8 is not yet listed as a supported OS at
[https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/16.0/system-requirements/]. there's still quite a bit of integration work necessary to get firefox released on windows 8.
even if it does start up, please don't run firefox 3.6.x or any other outdated version of the browser since they will contain severe security vulnerabilities which can put your system & personal data at risk when you're online...

After downloading Yosemite successfully, it won't install due to a "S.M.A.R.T. drive problem that can't be repaired." It says to back up as much as possible and replace the drive. Everything works flawlessly with Mavericks. What gives??
If you are getting a S.M.A.R.T. error then you should be more worried about losing everything on your drive then about upgrading your Mac OS. Regardless of if you are running Mac OS, Linux, or Windows, you should never just disregard such a drive error. S.M.A.R.T. is designed to give you a warning that your drive is statistically having far more errors than normal and should be backed up immediately and typically replaced.
In your case, it's likely a coincidence that your drive is failing at the time you are attempting to upgrade to Yosemite. You should stop what you are doing, backup your drive (if you don't already have the backups that you should prior to any OS upgrade), and replace the hard drive prior to moving forward.
To make it clear, your hard drive is likely going to fail soon and you may lose everything on it at any moment. This failure has nothing to do with Yosemite or any Mac OS. All hard drives fail at some point. Hopefully this S.M.A.R.T. notice has given you the opportunity to solve a major problem before it gets worse. -
FireFox 13.01 won't install Flash Player Plugin
At some point in the not too distant past my Flash player stopped working in FireFox so I'm trying to remedy that. I see all the hooplah going on about incompatibility but I can't get to that point because the plug-in won't install in FireFox. I've tried everything I can and I'm assuming that it is supposed to show-up in the "plug-ins" list but it does not. Web pages tell me that I'm missing the plug-in even though all indicators are that it installed correctly (FlashPlayer reflects accurately in my control player). I've tried safe mode but no joy there either.
As far as RealPlayer is concerned I severed ANY and ALL relationship with that "%^&$#@" over a decade ago. It is not on my system.
I'm about ready to toss FireFox out the window and go back to IE (where I am not having this problem). This is not how auto-updating is supposed to work and I could care less about assigning blame.
Please do not suggest to me that I wipe everything FireFox related and start over. That is unacceptable. What am I missing or failing to do? I woud prefer to not rollback to version 10 if possible.
Win7/64/Administrator
FireFox 13.01
Flash Player Plugin version 11.3.300.262

App won't install due to lack of space - with enough space on the phone
I try to install the navigation TomTom western Europe with size 1,6 gb. ITunes and phone says that I have 2,7GB free, but it refuse to install due to lack of space?
Navigon needs at least 3.3gb to install(Twice the apps size, at a minimum). To make sure you have enough space you should allow no less than 4gb. The space will be freed up once installation is complete.

I downloaded Firefox 8.0 and later 8.01. When the upgrade is launched it unpacks and then gets ready to install and I'm prompted to select a user or administrator. No matter which I select when click on install the prompt disappears and that's the end of it. Nothing happens. Tried about 5 times on both upgrade packages. Running on a Gateway laptop with plenty of memory and disk space with Windows 7. I have never had a problem with Firefox.
HI Paul,
no sorry, did not manage to get it running. Hopefully someone from Adobe could have a look at the installation logs.

Firefox 4.0 won't install in Windows 7
I upgraded to FF 4.0 & it just doesn't work. I've tried uninstalling it & reinstalling ... nothing
I do not get an error or a troubleshooting message from FFIf using NoScript or some other script-blocking add-on, you must allow (or temporarily allow) 192.168.1.1 for it to work.
*Have to reset the password from the default? For the default, see the documentation that came with with router.
*Many times the the user name is not used, just the password.
Also see the suggestion here: https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/801393 (I do not need to turn that option off to use my router.)

Pavilion dv9812us - Windows XP reinstall / nForce drivers won't install
I had a funky virus on my Pavilion so I decided I would format and reinstall XP (my computer came with Vista but I'm not really a fan). I see an nVidia splashscreen come and go and then the installshield wizard comes up and loads the installation files... and then disappears. As far as I can tell, the installer crashes every single time I load it. I also tried downloading the unified drivers from nVidia's website, and the same thing happened. So my question is, how can I get these drivers to work? I really need to get my computer working because it is an integral part of my job... so double thanks in advance to anyone willing to help me on this.

HP Mobile Remote ControlOK, I booted into safe mode, removed the old VIA drivers from the %systemroot%\system32\drivers folder, and then saw that the nForce2 drivers from a previous install were in Add & Remove Programs. I believe that to be my entire problem. So I uninstalled all NVIDIA drivers. Rebooted into Safe Mode. Installed all the 5.10 drivers with success, excluding the sound driver cuz I don't need it. Rebooted. Windows hangs during loading screen. Reset, then I hit F8 and choose Last Known Good Configuration. Remove all NVIDIA drivers again. Reboot into Safe Mode. Install one driver at a time and reboot inbetween. System hangs because of the IDE driver. So, choose Last Known Good Configuration again, uninstall all NVIDIA drivers, reboot to Safe Mode, reinstall all drivers but IDE, then boot Windows normally. Needed to install display driver, as I have a NVIDIA card. Did that, disabled nwiz and NvMcTray in msconfig as I always do. Reboot. My SYSTEM registry hive is corrupted. So after wiping Linux (which I never use anyway cuz my modem is not Linux compatible) off my other drive and installing Windows and the Internet on it, I found out how to take the registry from a previous Restore Point and copy it to the config folder. Did that, booted to that drive, had to uninstall and reinstall all NVIDIA drivers again, but it works now. I don't have tons of System devices like you Fredrik, but I do have 3 Motherboard resources, which is weird. Whatever. Thanks for all your help, guys

My Macbook pro won't install Windows 7, My Macbook pro won't install Windows 7
Hi, I've been trying to install Windows 7 on my Macbook pro, with no luck. I have been able to create a Windows Partition via Bootcamp. And after the Windows 7 installation guide started to expand my Windows files, my Windows 7 CD suddenly stopped spinning. And after a while, the installation guide said that Windows couldn't be installed. And I had to turn off my Mac.
I would highly suggest restoring your Mac to factory settings. Back up all files on externL hard drive first. Then let the be the first thing u do. Should resolve issues. If computer is older and has been running under a certain operating system for a period of time it may not like the partition or may have corrupted files that restoring will wipe clean

Help!! Windows 7 64 bit Client won't install silently fails
Hello all,
I have not been able to find an answer to this and I see posts on forums to no avail. I am trying to install the 64 bit client on my Windows 7 box and it goes through the config checks hits 100% then it just silently dies and closes. Any idea what I need to install or how to figure out what is going on? Not sure the logs will even be there under the oracle home as I don't think it even exists at that point yet. I can install the 32 bit client without issue but that is it and others are saying they had to do the same thing. The other thing is if I click the browse button to change the oracle home path it also just closes the install.
Thanks all.

Firefox for Android won't install on HTC Explorer
My HTC Explorer seems to have all the requirements for Firefox to be installed.
The screen resolution is 320 x 480 - more than the minimum spec.
The Android version is 2.3.5. - higher than the version quoted.
HTC Sense version 3.5
But when I try to install from Play Store, I get the message
"Your device isn't compatible with this version".
Why not? Is there a version that IS compatible? And if so, where can I find it,
and what, precisely, is it called?hello CambridgeChris, even if it's not available through the google play store, you can download all versions of firefox for android dirctly from mozilla's FTP server. details are available at: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile/Platforms/Android
however, since you device is rather low-spec and firefox on android is a full-fledged browser with its own rendering engine, it will require quite a lot of system resources - so you might not get the best experience out of it at your current setup... -

Had an earlier version of Sync, it forced me to upgrade to 1.5, it is now hanging in the install queue.
You can delete the files extensions.* (extensions.rdf, extensions.cache, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite , if they exist) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox [[Profiles|profile folder]] to reset the extensions registry. New files will be created when required.
See "Corrupt extension files": http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_install_themes_or_extensions
If you see disabled extensions that are not compatible on the next start in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the "Find Updates" button to do a compatibility check.
